The sound of spells going off could be heard everywhere.
But not near them.
At least he didn't think so. Even if a stray one did come around, he'd protect Sophia from any spells that came near them. Despite playing a prank on her earlier, Kim didn't want her getting hurt by others. One might even call him protective over her. As they moved towards the sign-ups, some of his bonbons exploded and a boomerang came flying around the room. But it wasn't going in their direction, so Kim didn't feel the need to step in front of the item.
However, a loud crash was heard, and screams followed from people who had been hiding under the potluck table. As they were close to the potluck table at the time, Kim instantly pulled Sophia close to him and wrapped her in his arms. He placed a hand on the back of her head to protect her head from any incoming objects. It only lasted for a few seconds and then he released her, after making sure nothing hot or food/drink was coming in their direction.
"Sorry about that, I didn't want you to get hurt." Kim said and then continued his walk towards the sign-up sheets, where he signed them both up a few seconds later. When Sophia finally came over to him and peered over his shoulder at the sheets, she suddenly flicked him on the nose. Kim blinked, taken aback. "What - " He started to say and then gave up, maybe this was her way of getting back at him. Well, he had said she could do that.
She flicked his nose a second time and Kim made a face.
That was when the Goblet announced its chosen champions and Kim was not one of them.
Part of him was disappointed but another part was relieved, as he didn't know what he would have done if he'd been chosen. It was better to be part of the Champion's team than to be the actual Champion. But even if he didn't get to be on the team, Kim was content to merely watch the proceedings this time. It would be interesting to see it from a spectator's point of view as this would be the first time Kim would be able to watch an event like this in person.
Oh, right.
Kim had forgotten that his stomach had wanted him to eat something earlier.
The image of the berry on Sophia's cheek came to mind and he made a face. He'd wanted to try that pastry, whatever it had been. But if it had been on the potluck table, it would be on the floor now. Still, as long as it wasn't lying on top of liquid, it should still be good enough to eat! At least one bite. But what had it been? "Hey, Sophia. Where was the berry pastry that was on your cheek located?" He asked. Maybe he could nibble before the game.
When Felix entered the ball, Kim thankfully was nowhere nearby.
Even when Felix went over to the sign-ups, Kim and Sophia had left them just seconds ago.
It was as if fate was on his side this time and the two exited the great hall to make their way into the courtyard where the two games were supposed to be held soon after the Goblet announcement. Kim was actually kind of curious to see what type of game this Firewalking Obstacle Course would be. He loved games, even if he didn't like crowds. Games were worth participating in, even if it meant having to deal with others, as long as there was no touching.
Also no getting too close to his body or face.
Not unless he initiated it.

Edward bellowed as loud as he could. His throat was finally clear, and he didn't feel like puking anymore slugs. He would smile, at Clair's mention to his noise he'd make puking. And her trying to shush him, since they were announcing who the champions were, and their special someone.
Crap, that's what the special someone thing was for? So if Edward were to be chosen... he would've been the only Champion without someone by his side... well... does a mirror count as a someone?
He clapped as hard as he could, and yelled out words of encouragement and congratulations to Rodion Makarovich, one of his fellow classmates in the same year. but unfortunately, he didn't quite know who Anastasia Prokovdine was, as he wasn't exactly... very attentive back at Koldovstorez.
"Ah, yes, let's go. C'mon Clair, shall I... carry you? Or- well- why don't you guide me there. I don't think I ever been to... the... courtyard? Ah, it'd be nice to get less attention. I've had enough people stare at me already."
He would pull Clair's arm lightly, and leave with her. He was glad to leave the room of chaos. And kids from Hogwarts eat in here? It seems deadly... besides, surely Hogwarts must have a enchantment that keep Koldovstorez from ever being able to cast spells correctly and successfully. Surely it was that, and totally not Edward's incapabilities. He chose to ignore the fact that he was able to conjure flowers.
Deep inside his head, he knew that Clair said yes to Edward being her boyfriend, and Edward was so glad to finally get a girlfriend. Finally, he could tell someone that he was truly the ladies man.Interacting with @Clair Fernandez

It was right after he signed up, that he noticed that the potluck table broke, several exploding bon bons exploded, and Noah began to suspect something was happening. But he knew the person he suspected. So, he would not be harming him at all costs. Just... perhaps... well... maybe he deserved it.
He would later apologize and make up for being cruel to another Goosebumps Club member, even if this one was higher up the ranks. He would cast the Green Sparks charm at Kim Sato. He was under disguise, and Noah knew Kim wouldn't know it was him that cast the spell. Noah very much preferred for this to be kept a secret. He was a supervillian right now. Or well, he was in his own mindset. But his entrance seemed to be shut down right off the bat, since apparently his storm cloud was not necessary. Well, according to Noah.
If his brain had to yammer on, he'd have enough to fill all of his essays for homeworks he had to do. But yet the Ball seemed to bring torture to his brain by making him think twice. He couldn't be like his twin for one day? Not even like Wally or Theodore?
Fine. Just this one spell, then he would leave. Maybe. Perhaps. "Verdimillious." He said, his wand pointed towards Kim Sato.Interacting with @Kim Sato

Great Hall - 2nd April 2022
Dialogue: "English" | "Russian"
When Tarja mentioned the wasted food, Vadimir scowled. He absolutely hated people that were wasteful, especially with something important like food. But, he supposed the Hogwarts students - and probably other magical school students, too - were so used to having magic to just make their lives easier, that they never went hungry. On his family farm, Vadimir had been hungry many days.
"Extravagance and waste seems to be all these people know," Vadimir muttered, clearly angry with the food fight situation. He could even see the aftermath of the food table that had been destroyed, once he looked for it, through the milling students around. "I really want Koldovstoretz to win this cup. To show having everything breeds lack of determination or effort."
The compliment from Tarja was taken with a smile and nod, though it was evident that the food table still bothered him, if his glances toward it were any indication. Still, Vadimir supposed he couldn't blame the fish for swimming, as it were. Though the mention about Edward Smith, and his attempts at casting spells at someone, caused Vadimir to raise an eyebrow.
"He did? Why? Was he being picked on?"
Either way, it further reinforced Vadimir's opinion of the strange Koldovstoretz student. The pair had never met, not even spoken, but the perception from the outside looking in was that Smith was trouble and very odd, what with his Americanization and all. It didn't matter, Vadimir pushed Smith from his mind and focused on other things, as Tarja mentioned that the champion - for their school - might very well pick friends.
"Maybe, maybe not," The Russian boy shrugged, as he looked back to his friend. He didn't know much about Rodion Makarovich, but he hoped the student was able to look past sentimentality and pick strong contenders for the event. Irina came to mind, the survivor of the Hogwarts attack from a while back. "We will have to see. Either way, his choices will decide if our school does well or not, so it is in his hands... and yes, I imagine lots of Koldovstoretz students are looking to speak and engage, now that the champion is revealed."
Vadimir wouldn't. He would wait to see if opportunity arose, but the Russian boy wouldn't go out of his way to kiss someone's butt and earn their favor to be included. Vadimir was strong, he would make a good addition to any cup team, and would show that potential if there was a chance to - otherwise, things would happen as they happened.
Tarja commented about the Japanese school champion. Vadimir could agree, it was odd that a foreigner would represent the school, but who was he to understand the whims of the fiery cup?
"I don't even know what's happening," Vadimir said simply, in response to the question about the Mahoutokoro champion - or any others, really. They were just names, the Russian had no idea who they were, what they looked like, nor did he much care. "So long as Koldovstoretz does well, wins, that is all I need to know. Could you imagine the upset, if a poor school like ours won? That these schools, with all their wealth and endless resources, failed to overcome Russian grit and determination?"
Vadimir smirked, as he thought about it.
"It would be amazing."
There was a student that walked by, who mentioned something about competitions about to start, to which Vadimir looked to Tarja as she recalled something about it. Any opportunity to leave might allow the pair a chance to escape the situations unfolding within the crowd. Besides, if his friend had signed up to take part, then Vadimir would go and support her.
"Yes, let's go," Vadimir said with a nod. "I didn't sign up, but I will cheer your efforts. Let's leave these people to their craziness."
Then, with a shake of his head, Vadimir followed Tarja out of the Great Hall and toward wherever the flying flag game was meant to take place...

Falentra had made a bad habit on turning up late to these Balls. It was never intentional, though she did dread the whole small talk that was to come, the awkward stares and floating around alone. It was painful, but showing her face for an hour or so was to stop some rumors to be spread on her whereabouts, and it may make a few faces happy if she was to bump into them. A quick banter with her old friend Auri wouldn't be such a bad idea, or even better, a hug off her not-so-little brother, Flash.
The Slytherin had arrived in a beautiful, elegant gold dress that hugged tightly to her brittle frame. There were a time were something so classy would never touch her skin. A darker colour pallet was her go-to. But she was maturing both physically and emotionally. The edgy stage she once knew was starting to disappear. Her hair was slick back with a wet look effect and her eyes were somewhat like 'panda eyes', but it worked. And if it didn't, she wasn't overly bothered. Falentra liked to make a good impression when it came to her style, but if someone was to call her out and laugh, it wouldn't necessarily get to her, though.. she was sure to give them a black eye for the disrespect. She did after all have to keep up her unapproachable demeanor and if that meant going that bit over the top to do so, so be it. Maturing or not, her angered outburst were still the one thing she had very little control over.
An hour or so had past. She drank a little, ate a little, pulled a few faces and gave the odd cold stare to those that stared too long in her direction. The usual. There had been some drama in the distance between some students. A food fight was it? Falentra took one look down at her dress then shook her head. A bad idea to even attempt to have a nosey. The night, from her end was going quite smoothly. There was no fights that involved her, no arguments, no awkward interactions..as of yet and no…sign of Howard. They had been apart for quite some time now and there were rumours that he was getting close to Bloom. She knew her briefly, and it was an automatic enemy of hers. Not only because she was getting close to her ex, but the Ravenclaw had called her out back when the chaos struck in the Spin the Bottle game.
Whatever She thought to herself. After how it went down last time, and how hurt she saw Howard, she wasn’t going to get involved. They was over. She was..over it. Right?
After swimming around in her thoughts for god knows how long, her attention was quickly draw to a loud voice and a hurrying of students that surrounded the Goblet. She had almost forgotten about it. The Champions were to be announced. It was surely going to be an exciting event, and to be sat in the stands watching it all happen was something she was looking forward to. After everything that has happened in the past here at Hogwarts, she wasn’t going to put it past her that something bad was going to go down. It had to. The poor sods that were going to take part in this were stupid, and Falentra was going to enjoy every bit of it. Minus the tortuous part. Even she has her limit.
The Ilvermorny Headmaster began the announcement, and very much got straight to the point. Of course it started with Hogwarts Champion, but with the name that was to follow… she.. she didn’t even have time to take it all in. Howard White. Howard? No. That idiot! Why would he put his name in?! She eyes searched the crowd eagerly. A few pushes and shoved were given to her peers so she was able to make her way to the front of the crowd. Eventually there were enough clapping and a small gathering to form around the said Champion. Falentra was to stand her ground and make no movement towards him. Only her eyes were to stare him down and say a thousand words that her mouth could not. He may not have seen her, but she knew certain things about him, how he could be a target here. Past events that have happened at the school that has put students in danger before. This was the perfect opportunity for danger to show itself.
Falentra was about to turn around and leave. She wanted no part in seeing Howard getting hurt, and was most likely going to try and talk him out of it at a later date. Awkwardness or not, she still cared deeply for him, even if she had a funny way of showing it. As her body turned to leave, she heard something she was not expecting. Her name. His special person was her? Not.. Bloom, or even Serena? After everything that went down last time, after how they left things, he had chosen her. Her body almost froze in disbelief. All the bad thoughts that had just ran through her head about him being a part of his now included her. She couldn’t say no to this. There wasn’t even the smallest part of her that would have turned it down, she was loyal to the bone to him, even after their common clashes and disagreements. Maybe.. maybe there was a way she could keep a closer eye on him now at least and have a chance at saving him in the near future. It didn’t change the doubt that lingered in the back of her mind. This event was not going to end well and she couldn’t see Howard getting hurt in the process.
“Fuck..” Not the best choice of words, but it was a start. A small grunt followed before her eyes fell back on Howard. She saw Bloom react negatively, and rightly so.. but Fal couldn’t help but enjoy the scene. It was the perfect opportunity for her to step out from the crowd and slowly make her way over to Howard. She kept a cool face and took a few long strides to his and Blooms direction. “Howard!” She called out to him. The timing was intentional. Falentra was cruel in her own ways, and selfish at that. She cared little for peoples emotions, such as Bloom, but for Howard.. he was one of the few she did, it just probably wasn’t the best of ways to show it in a situation like this. She was thinking with her heart here and not her head. Those strings that tugged at her heart began to ache once more. He was in a way her weakness and deep down she was like any other who just wanted someone to care for her, and now that she saw Bloom and Howard up close, it hurt. She could see the pain in Blooms eyes from where she stood. She cared for him deeply. But this was no time for sympathy. In her eyes, this was Howard’s time to choose between the two. She was wrong to put him on the spot like this, but would that even be Fal if she hadn’t done it in the first place?
He stood in between her and Bloom. But who was he to go to?
If he was to follow Bloom, she would narrow her brows and follow closely behind.
If he was to approach her, she would grab his arm and pull him to the side to talk to him more privately.

As Maximilien "Maxi" de Fostoncy [x]
English · #586d9d | French · #056b68interacts Phyllis Stanwood (@Bridget Collins)“Almost, I think.” he nodded when Phyllis inquired him about the broom sports in his home country. “We fly on brooms. We play Quidditch. We do broom racing. So yeah, guess it’s mostly the same.” at least they weren’t riding trees (even though it did seem cool), huh? Though indeed broom racers were more celebrated than Quidditch players, but Maxi had never got hold of the exact reason. They were mostly the same except for the fact that spells were legal in racing - which was a reason when he decided to switch his extracurricular, not to Quidditch but to broom racing - but still, he repeated, they were alike.
Shaking his thought regarding the broom games off, he took Phyllis’s hand and led her towards the dancing floor. “Oh, you’ll sure do it brilliantly.” he confirmed to her softly with his usual gentle smile. “as for slow music - I have to admit that it does make me feel sleepy sometimes.” really, he never liked those slow waltz when he had to endure the endless chatter of frivolous young girls he was paired with and whom he wasn’t interested in at all (but they were certainly interested in him). This music sounded like appealing to enough though, and he was delighted to find a way to kill the time before the champions were announced and the game started.
The following minutes were satisfying enough - he was swirling in the middle of the dancing floor with his auburn-haired companion, and he was sure keeping up with the rhythm. Maxi was a rather skillful ballroom dancer thanks to his grandfather’s lessons when he was quite a young boy, and it’s not a difficult thing to detect that he was enjoying it. A hand was put somewhat casually on his partner’s shoulder, while the other held Phyllis’s hand discreetly. Maxi was never known for being flirty - and, being timid, he tended to hide the praises he had for others deep in his heart. Though, when the music was over, he couldn’t help but offering his companion a small but encouraging smile. “I’ve told you that you would dance well, and sure you did.”
Upon hearing the sonorous voice marking the start of the champion announcement, Maxi slowed down his pace and finally stopped. “That’s your headmaster, I suppose?” he whispered to Phyllis, while staring at the man announcing the selection of champions. Hogwarts was the first to have the honour, and an unfamiliar name was being chosen. And then - it was Beauxbatons’ turn.
As expected his name did not become his school’s pride, and delight filled his heart. No need of being exposed to danger now - a delight for sure. He thought so from the very beginning, but to his own surprise he actually sensed a hint of disappointment in his heart. Alarmed by this hidden emotion, Maxi’s eyes widened a bit. He was - feeling despondent because of not being chosen as Beauxbatons’ champion? Or because of he’s possibly losing an opportunity to prove himself? Maxi didn’t know. Though his countenance wasn’t affected much by the seemingly volatile thoughts in his mind, and if Phyllis wasn’t keen-eyed enough she wouldn’t be able to sense the slight despondent grey cloud over his eyebrows.
Quickly recovering from the so-called blow, Maxi decided that he shouldn’t be moaning for this fail. He wasn’t planning to joining it at the very beginning, after all - and why should he feel disappointed? “Hmm, seems that I still need some extra practice before the goblet recognizes my name.” he shrugged and laughed slightly, half turning to Phyllis. “But anyway. Bet Ilvermony’s champion will be announced soon, and I wish you luck.” Phyllis was surely somewhat fanatic about this tournament, and Maxi regarded her as being capable for being the lead of her school’s team. Fingers crossed, he sincerely hoped that the girl beside him could have the honour to be chosen and celebrated as a heroine. No one - and nothing, should be her source of disappointment.
But Phyllis wasn’t being picked either, and Maxi’s disappointment was now visible enough for everybody to detect. “What a pity.” he remarked. “They should have chosen you - Ilvermony’s letting go of the best champion they’ll ever have, and they shall regret it later.” his dark grey eyes now drew back from Plott and fixed on Phyllis, searching for her slightest change in expression with the hope of giving her some support. Hopefully she wouldn’t feel down…even though Phyllis seemed like someone who would likely obtain an optimistic outlook, Maxi couldn’t determine. If Phyllis ever showed even the slightest hint of despondency, she would be greeted by a look full of sympathy and encouragement.
“Well…let’s think of some interesting things, perhaps? I think the broom game we’ve signed up is starting soon, and since we have nothing more to do here, we can head for the pitch.” he suggested, with a smile on his lips. “And we shall be able to decide the champion between us two.” Maxi chuckled slightly, while turning to Phyllis and offering her his arm. “May I, Mademoiselle Miss Phyllis?”────── ✢ ──────

@Kim Sato as HiroAs the potluck table exploded, Bailey sighed. There goes my chance to show Hiro the cullen sink. Bailey thought.
Well… maybe James will make some more. And maybe I’ll make him something too!
When Mathias name was called from the goblet, Hiro cheered for home. Mathias, who was apparently someone Hiro knew, then started to puke!
Burp grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the path, something she was grateful for. She would not have moved in time; she was in shock.
”Thanks..”
Bailey said, looking down at their intertwined hands. Hiro must have realized that they were still holding hands too because he let go of her hand and smiled at her, saying that he pulled her away so that her dress wouldn’t get ruined.
“Thank you so much!” Bailey said, recovering from her shock.
“Anyways, do you know Mathias? I saw you cheer for him when his name was called…”
Blushing, she realized that the boy, Mathias, had grabbed another boy by the collar and was talking to him. He didn’t appear to be happy, so this probably wasn’t going to turn out well.

Galton had come equipped to refute any argument against dancing at this ball. There was no good reason that a student should pass up such a rare opportunity. And there were even less reason's for a lady killer like Hess to pass it up. Plus, he owed Galton... or Galton had decided that Hess owed him when Hess voiced his protest. There would be no getting out of this, not even with an offer of hide-and-seek.
It was a clever distraction from the dancing though, Galton would give Hess that. Young Lansdale was known to be quite the hider, and quite the seeker (the cool kind, not that quidditch rubbish). But! But Galton had purpose tonight. He would not let his carefully crafted agenda get sidetracked by one of the group members!
Wait - the food was poisoned? Galton began laughing from the hug that he still had Jürgen in (if he did). "The food isn't poisoned, silly Erin. I would be sooooo dead if it was." Galton laughed louder as he picked some food off his place and awkwardly slid it into his mouth while embracing his dear friend. "Re'lly thas cra' zee." He would repeat back to the group as he swallowed some of the supposed poison. Galton filled his gullet with the schools food a minimum of three times a day, he was positive if there was poison in the food, he - of anyone - would know. So with a laugh he would return his attention to what was truly important.
Dancing! No, had it been the firewalking? He pondered which was first for a moment, finally letting Jürgen go from his grubby grip. It was firewalking. But Jürgen wouldn't be getting away from the dancing later either. "Dancing is always fine!" he replied to Serena.
Galton actually had never danced at a ball, he had no idea if it was truly fine. The closest he had to a ballroom dance was the forgotten tango with his classmates when he had tried to consume each and every one of them. But he was convinced that dancing was going to be the highlight of the night. Just after the firewalking. "OKAY DATES, it's firewalking time!" He would point to the coarse area before beginning he walk towards the area. "And Jürgen my friend, with these bad boys dancing will be all you can do tonight!" He pointed to the boots strung around his neck. Hess would be grooving no matter what.

Fate had really done him dirty this time. Felix had waded over to the potluck table, his eyes zeroing on the jugs of various flavors of drink, and the assortment of foods that people had brought along. He frowned, reaching for a goblet before pouring himself a drink. He’d need to be hydrated if he were to be participating in the games anytime soon.
It was just his luck that barely seconds before he could raise the goblet to his lips, Felix would find himself in a cloud of what seemed to be chocolate powder. He coughed and sputtered, waving the dust with his hand as chocolate powder settled in his hair. What even-
As if that wasn't enough, he narrowly missed being knocked out by the potluck table as it was flipped over, stepping aside just in time and he dropped his drink, the liquid spilling at his feet and splattering his shoes with an orangy-soloureld liquid. Felix fought the urge to punch the nearest person as he gazed down at his now foot splattered robes. Now why had he chosen such a light and delicate colour to wear to the ball? It seemed almost hilarious, the amount of food and drink that he was now wearing. His hair was drenched too, was that pumpkin juice? Or fruit punch? He cursed loudly several times, spinning on his heel as he barged through the commotion in hopes of finding something to clean himself with. Bloody-
Felix stopped mid stride, his ear perking up at the booming of a male voice. What was that? The announcement of the champions? If the apparent noise of the students could get any louder than it already was0 it did. Felix vaguely noted the unfamiliar names of the called champions, he wondered what would happen next. It was a moment before he clocked what indeed had just happened, and decided that he’d escape to the courtyard, maybe even finding Akemi there. He hadn’t forgotten about her, where was she?

Even though she clearly didn't Delphinia seemed to think that Samantha did look great, which cause the second year to blush a little. When her date picked up the tissues she had previously ignored and gently dried her tears, a little smile appeared on Samantha's face. She was touched by her lovely gesture and even forgot about Eun-ji for a second, realizing how lucky she was to be able to call this kind girl her date. "I will explain it later," she answered quietly Del's questions about why she was crying and if everything was okay.
Honestly, Samantha wanted to get away from Eun-ji as fast as possible, but her date seemed to have other plans as Delphinia turned to Eun-ji. If she hadn't known what she knew now she would have gladly introduced the two to each other, but now she wanted to avoid having Eun-ji and Del talk. What if Delphinia wouldn't want to have anything to do with her after talking with Eun-ji? Losing a friend was enough for one night, she couldn't have her date dislike her too. Before Del had even taken the words 'love interest' in her mouth, Samantha's hands had found Del's and the second year gently tucked her date's hand, trying to get the first year's attention. Samantha had wanted to ask Delphinia if they could go away, but when Del spoke the words 'love interest' Samantha found herself at a loss for words and her head turned red. There was no way Eun-ji was her love interest, that spot was already filled by Delphinia.
Eun-ji answered the question before Samantha could think of what to say. "No," the older girl answered the question, "I'm her senior from Ravenclaw and we are also both members of the duelling club." Without introducing herself Eun-ji continued and told Delphinia. "Sorry I have people waiting for me. You take care of her and try to have fun, okay?" After Eun-ji finished talking, Samantha, who had been holding Del's hand the whole time, walked away from the third year while dragging her date with her.
Samantha didn't have a specific place she wanted to go, as long as it was away from Eun-ji. When Delphinia started to talk about riding a broom together, the two girls were walking on the side of the dance floor. Samantha turned to her date just in time to see the other girl turn pink and add that it wouldn't be a date. A little bit of disappointment could be seen on Samantha's face when she was told it wouldn't be a date, but when Del told her it could be a date if she wanted, the disappointment disappeared from the young girl's face. "Yes," the brunette said happily, "I would love for it to be a date. If you would like that too, of course." She had added the last part nervously since she didn't know if the other girl still liked her or if she had only liked her at the tea party when she had been under the influence of the love potion.
