Shiawase loved the library. There was no place else she'd rather be in the world. Every book an adventure, or a collection of vast knowledge. And she wanted to know everything! It was no surprise, therefore, that she was reading. But then, she sighed. She reached the end, finally, of the book. Endings were always so bittersweet. With much reluctance, she closed the book and wheeled back to the shelf to put it away.

As she was setting the book where it belonged, she saw a girl pull a book from the shelf nearby. Shiawase recognized it immediately and could barely contain her excitement!

"Excuse me! I'm sorry to disturb you, but that book! Eeeee! It's one of my favorites! I cried at the part when she - oh, right. That's potentially a spoiler! Have you read it before or are you just looking at it now for the first time? If it's the latter, I'm so jealous! There's nothing like the wonder of reading a good book for the very first time in my opinion! In any case, I hope you enjoy it!" Shiawase realized then that she had gotten carried away in her excitement and forgotten her manners. She cleared her throat. "I'm Shiawase, by the way. Shiawase Mamori. It's a pleasure to meet you. What's your name?"

There were only two things the Miller Heiress expected from an afternoon spent in the library.

One, to actually get some homework and advanced reading done. She didn't like studying in the Gryffindor Common Room because a majority of her Housemates were simply too loud for her to concentrate. Regina hated distractions and boisterous people more than anything else. She didn't want to go to the Study Room either, due to an unpleasant memory at the beginning of the year involving a dramatic scuffle with another student she'd like to forget (Father's scolding was still so fresh in her memory). So, it was logical that the only place Regina wanted to finish some essays for her classes was in the library which was, arguably, her most favourite place in Hogwarts.

Second, it was a common running rumour that Regina didn't like interacting with strangers at all. Even though her social skills had...somewhat...improved over the last two months with her gaining quite a few friends and acquaintances, she still much preferred to stay in her little bubble and expected others to read the atmosphere and not casually approach her when she had no interest in conversing with them. That was another thing she liked the library - people usually tended not to bother somebody who was engrossed with their individual work or reading.

Somehow, for whatever reason Merlin thought was deserved, Regina's eardrums almost fell off when a completely unknown girl squealed next to her as she took a book off a shelf. It was only because of her duellist instincts that she manged not to flinch, but Regina did directed a cold glare at the person who was rattling off some nonsense she did not want to hear.

"Regina Miller. And no, I do not think I will be enjoying whatever this book is after all," She responded curtly with a scowl, orchid purple eyes narrowing in a deadpan as she pushed the novel back to where it was without looking. Regina turned on her heels, determined to not humour some obnoxious stranger with a foreign name who fangirled at other people on a first meeting.

Shiawase was dumbfounded. Sure, if this stranger didn't want to talk, that was fine. But the fact that she wanted to not read the book purely because Shiawase wanted to talk about it with her? That was just plain stupid! Why deprive yourself of pleasure just because someone else enjoyed it?

"Okay . . . Miss Miller." When Shiawase met someone friendly, she addressed them by their first name. It was some indication, by her formal and somewhat clipped tone, that she didn't exactly like this person. She deftly grabbed the same book off the shelf, carefully putting it atop the pile of books already on her lap, and wheeled toward her. "I'm sorry to have disturbed you. It's just that in my experience here, most people like to talk about things they enjoy, such as books, and I've made many friends by doing this, so I thought it was okay. You could have just told me you didn't want to talk and I would have understood. But you shouldn't deprive yourself of good reading just because I liked it and wanted to talk about it. I mean, I've read and enjoyed just about every book in this library that I could get my hands on. By that logic, you may as well never come here or read anything ever again."

She cracked a sardonic smile. "You know, I also enjoy food, come to think of it. And I may want to talk about that."She gasped overdramatically. "Oh, no! I guess you must never eat again! It's the only possible way to avoid talking to me about it, after all!"

She chuckled and held out the book for Regina. "I hope I've made my point. Please just take the dang book and enjoy it. And don't worry. I won't disturb you again. Have a pleasant day." She was ready to wheel away from this Regina Miller and steer clear of her from then on. After all, she wasn't very nice . . . and seemed to hate Shiawase already. So why waste both of their time?
