A Feat of Friends and Feasts

In Reference to: The Sorting CeremonySeptember 1st 2021
Following: A Train Ride to Magic
~*~*~*~
π½inally making his way to the Hufflepuff table, Judas sat there sullenly. He'd read the book about the separate houses so he wasn't sure what he had been expecting. Galahad was the knight in their story, of course he would be sorted into Gryffindor. The train ride had been so fun, he'd forgotten that they might not even end up in the same dorms. He wondered if they would still have time to hang around each other. Shaking his head, Judas pushed the thought from his head. Of course they would! They had made a pinkie promise hadn't they? That meant that they would remain friends.
After what seemed like ages, all the students had been sorted and were making their own ways to their respective tables. A voice boomed somewhere over the heads of all the other children "And now, Let the Feast begin!" Judas looked at the food that magically appeared before him in wonder. Every food he'd ever loved was right in front of him, but still, he felt as if his apatite had vanished. Craning his neck upward, he tried once more to see past the other students. It was no use, the others were far taller than him and there were so many in the great hall. Sighing, he reached for some bread and I chicken wing. He would need to at least try and eat if he was going to be getting up bright and early tomorrow for classes.
Judas had only taken two bites before the thought struck him. There were so many children in the great hall at the moment. They were quite loud as they chatted and ate excitedly. Maybe... Judas could chance sneaking off to find where Galahad was seated. Surely wanting to sit with your friend was normal. He recalled the words of one of the teachers in regards to houses. 'They will be like your family.' Well, Judas didn't know anyone in this so called 'family' yet. Nobody would mind if he just quickly went to look for his friend right? After all, he was concerned for the other boy. He'd swallowed a bug. He probably needed some cool water and Judas wanted to make sure he was looked after. He was only checking on a friend's wellbeing.
Sitting up a bit, he looked in the direction he thought Galahad had gone to sit. There were a lot of students around, so he figured it would be best to go around the far end of the tables towards the back. He stealthily stood up, making sure to be quiet as he held his head down and began moving in the along the course he had plotted in his head.

Galahad had seated himself at the Gryffindor Table, feeling a mixture of emotions once he was sorted. Unsure as to how he should take it, despite the warm greetings and the smiling faces he felt a tad empty. Staring at his hand as he tried to focus on his main emotion at that exact moment, he was excited thrilled even. Yet the strong feeling of disappointment still lingered there, surely they can figure out what to do in this situation. Right? Just because Judas was in Hufflepuff, simply meant they were separated by houses. He was sure he could figure something out, he just needed to sit still and think.
Yet it didn't help when an array of food had simply popped out of thin air right in front of him, causing the male's eyes to light up as his mouth watered. Maybe keeping focus would prove to be a harder task than he originally planned, almost forgetting what he was thinking about. Judas! He quickly attempted to glance back at the table that had students adorned with the gold robes of Hufflepuff, proving it would be a harder task than he initially thought. It didn't help that their tables were practically separated by Ravenclaw and Slytherin. His Olive eyes gazed back at the meal in front of him, a defeated sigh escaping his lips as he grabbed a small piece of steak from one of the many dishes that were laid in front of them. Yet despite his multiple attempts at poking and prodding at the steak, almost as if it was alive he couldn't eat.
After a few more prodding, and even take a sip of water to help his throat from his earlier experience. He realized how easy it was to slip away from his table, everyone was so preoccupied with their own groups or eating. Surely it couldn't be too challenging, would it? He just needed to make sure he got this right, and for the both of them, that meant slipping past Slytherin and Ravenclaw attempting to go unnoticed. Once the auburn-haired male was sure he could go unnoticed, he carefully slipped away from his table. Keeping to the back so the Professors and Headmaster wouldn't notice him. Now he had quietly prayed to himself that none of the students would call him out on this, unsure of the consequences that would come from it.
The male couldn't help it even if he tried, he was Judas' knight, his protector. That meant checking in on the male even if it was at a minimal attempt to do so. He kept to himself, trying to make himself blend in with the walls to avoid any unwanted attention to himself. He just had to pretend to be a wall, that was the only thought that raced in his mind. Forcing himself to focus on that phrase, as he also tried to focus on finding his familiar raven-haired male. Surely he couldn't be that hard to find?

Slipping away unnoticed had been easier than Judas imagined. He supposed the food was so good everyone was too busy gorging themselves to noticed. At the mere thought of the food, his stomach growled loudly. It had been a long train ride and he'd completely forgotten to eat the sandwich his mother had prepared. Too late now, all his belongings had been moved and were now who knew where. Not that he needed to worry about sandwiches from mom now that he had a veritable cornucopia of food to eat. For now, he needed to worry about finding his friend.
So far, as he looked from table to table, he didn't see anyone with the same wildly curly hair as his friend. Of course, it was hard to see anything with so many people around. Just as he was passing the Slytherin table, a toad hopped out in front of him. He let out a rather loud and embarrassing squeak of surprise as he stumbled in an attempt not to step on it. He managed to right himself quickly, but as he looked over to the owner of the pet, he nearly had a stroke. The girl was staring at him menacingly. He gave her a look of remorse, "I'm so sorry, he umm... she? The Toad, I mean Your toad... just hopped out in front of me." Her only response was a huff as she picked her pet up then went back to eating.
As he continued carefully making his way towards the Gryffindor table, he began to wonder if what he was doing was okay. Maybe the other boy had already made new friends. He was very friendly. And Nice. And brave. Judas sighed. Someone like Galahad would have no problem making new friends. No, now wasn't the time to get discouraged. The train ride the two had shared had been magical. He'd never felt more comfortable with anyone than when he was talking wildly with the taller male. They had both sworn to remain friends once the train ride was over and Judas had to believe it was true. He wouldn't be a good Prince if he didn't trust in his Knight. Laughing to himself at the idea of being any kind of prince, he wonder what he would be the Prince of. The prince of anxiety? Prince of horrible vision? Maybe the Spider Prince. Galahad had said he himself was a spider now after all. Though with how the other boy had spoken about Gardening, he imagined Galahad to be more of a Knight of flowers or vines.
As he laughed to himself at the idea, he was so occupied with his thoughts that he lost track of where he was headed. It wasn't until he felt himself bump into someone did his mind return to the task at hand. Which currently was trying, and failing, not to fall on his rear.

Galahad hadn't focused on his hunger at that moment, not that he was too hungry, to begin with. His mother stuffed him with breakfast that morning, unsure if her son would get anything to eat once he arrived at the school or how long it would take. Though he supposed that even after such a large breakfast, that had been hours ago. Maybe once he found Judas he could finally ease down, maybe stick with the male and bite into a steak. After all, it was his first meal at Hogwarts, why not enjoy it? Yet he would prefer to enjoy it with the raven-haired male.
For a second however he stopped, wondering if the other had already forgotten him. Wondering if the other even wanted the company after being assigned his house, would he have new friends that he was assured to be with since they shared a house? Or would some be cruel to the quiet male, and only attempt to tare the poor boy down. It began to make Galahad worry, hesitating on his current plan as he began to slow down by the Ravenclaw table. Gazing over at the assortment of blue robes, a few of them looking far too serious for his taste. He couldn't imagine himself sitting in a room with a Ravenclaw, would the conversation be the same as the one he had with his Hufflepuff friend? Would they simply get annoyed with his antsy behavior, and inability to sit still?
Realized he had been staring intensely at one Ravenclaw, causing the male to let out an awkward cough which had quickly caught the Gryffindors attention. Quickly offered an awkward smile, before pushing himself to continue his journey. Face burning a bright red out of sheer embarrassment, he hoped something like that wouldn't happen again. Keeping his gaze to the ground, he took a moment to try and forget what had just happened.
His olive eyes grew wide as he bumped into someone, quickly reaching out as he grabbed onto their arm. The male's voice grew worried, something unlike the other had heard as Galahad spoke in an apologetic tone. "I am terribly sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you! Are you okay-?" The auburn-haired male paused when he finally gaze at who he had bumped into, quickly relaxing as he had let out a small chuckle. "I must be true to that pen name you gave me, nice to see you again Judas. What are you doing all the way over here?" He was surprised to see the other, especially since Judas didn't appear to be the type to stray so far away from his table. Flashing a toothy grin, as he pointed to his own table"Last time I checked, we weren't badgers much to my dismay."

Eyes widening in surprise, Judas reached out quickly to steady himself. Gripping the other males robes tightly, he let a grin spread across his face. "My knight!" He laughed. "Fancy meeting you here."
"I had hoped to run into you at some point, but this wasn't quite what I had originally intended." He said shyly. Truth be told he hadn't quite imagined the two of them would meet again like this. Realizing he was still holding onto the other male's robes, he quickly let go with a blush. He'd only meant to grip onto him so he wouldn't fall, but through the course of his pulling, he'd gotten a bit too close. Looking away to take a breath, he realized his pulse was once again faster than usual. It must have been all the excitement of the evening. He looked around noticing that they both stood at the end of the hall between the Ravenclaw and Slytherin table. He let a sly smile spread across his face. "We? Last I checked, you lions were on the other side of the room."
He stuck his tongue out playfully, but a moment later, he was thinking about the separate houses. It had been so obvious from the beginning that Galahad would end up in Gryffindor , he wasn't sure why he was surprised. He knew that they would still remain friends, but it still made his chest ache for some odd reason. Ever since the train ride, he'd experiencedso many odd feelings.
Feelings he wasn'tquite sure he understood. The one he did understandwas washing over him like a great typhoon. It was the feeling of loss. Or better yet, abandonment. Sighing heavily, he realized there was no use hiding how he felt. "I'll be honest. I was trying to sneak over closer to you. I didn't want to have to eat with people I didn't know."
Judas bit his nails nervously as he looked around the great hall. Nobody was really bother by them at the moment, but he was slightly worried someone would say something. Thinking quickly, he took a hold of the other boy's hand and began to pull him in the direction of the Hufflepuff table. "Here, come eat with me. I don't want to be alone." He worried that maybe he was being a bit too forceful and stopped. Loosening his grip a bit, he looked down to his shoes as he spoke. "I mean, that is, if you want to."

"My Prince has wandered from his table, what adventures have you come across whilst you made your way here?" He playfully teased the male, glad he had come across him like this despite how unexpected it was.
"Well I suppose you know the saying, great minds think alike?"It had taken the Gryffindor a minute to realize how close they were until the other had finally decided to let go of his robes. Causing the Welsh boy's cheeks to heat up, not understanding why whenever he had gotten close to the other he could feel his face burn so furiously. Maybe he was allergic to this new friend of his? It couldn't be possible however, maybe whenever he wrote to his parents he could ask them what this feeling meant or even implied. "Lions, badgers, I don't see the difference if you ask me." He jokingly replied, nudging the other with a chuckle. Eyeing the table that adorned the familiar snake logo, remembered how the other had accidentally made his way towards that house. Finding it quite odd, considering the color differences between the two. Maybe he could ask about it, depending on how close they had got.
Galahad raised his brows in surprise, a small chuckle escaping his lips as he hadn't considered the other to be the type to break a rule for him. Maybe their friendship would last, after all, a small grin slipping onto the auburn-males lips. "Really now? I was thinking the same thing, it just felt odd not being able to celebrate finally getting here without you. Does that sound odd? Clingy even? I can't quite tell, I'm just so happy to see you." He chuckled a tad, excitement visible in his eyes as he looked far happier than he did when they had found out about the sorting ceremony.
He felt his heart race again, however, once the other had grabbed ahold of his hand. It felt so soft unlike his own which was a tad rough due to his days spent in the garden and even crocheting. For some reason, he didn't want the other to let go. Allowing him to tug him off, as he followed quickly."Of course I would want to eat with you, I'd be a maniac if I declined such a wonderful offer. Lead the way, my charming prince."

A Feat of Friends and Feasts
September 1st 2021
Smiling widely, Judas realized he quite liked being called a Prince. Specifically when Galahad called him that. Not that he imagined anyone else would call him that. It was an inside joke just for the two of them. "I don't know if it was much of an adventure." He said laughing. He held a finger to his chin with a look of deep contemplation. "Although, I did have to avoid a rather large swamp creature on my way past the Slytherin table. It's guardian was not happy I nearly made mince out of it."
Judas smiled up at the Welsh boy as he shrugged, "I certainly hope we both have great minds, otherwise our book will come out as utter trash." Unaware of the other boy's blushing, Judas listened as Galahad joked about the houses. He too wondered what the big deal was, but he supposed it was a form of healthy competition. He nodded his agreement, smiling as the taller boy nudged him gently. He did feel slightly awkward about his mistake earlier when attempting to find his correct house. He'd clearly mistaken what was supposedly green as black and of course it was extremely difficult to tell yellow from silver. Other than the one person who had corrected him, it looked like nobody had noticed his slip up. He couldn't imagine what his new friend would have thought, but the boy had yet to mention it so he seemed in the clear. He now knew it would be much better to look for the symbols rather than the various shades within the houses.
When the other male didn't let go of his hand, Judas ducked his head smiling as he felt his face heat up. Galahad's hands were rougher than his own, which of course was do to his hard work for his parents. He pondered how the boy managed to be both tough enough to work outdoors, yet nimble and delicate enough to crochet. He wanted so badly to see the other boy's handywork for himself. Maybe if he worked up the courage, he would ask him for something later. Once more, he was focusing on Galahad's hands and as if he wasn't flushed enough already, he felt his face grow even hotter.
Being so distracted as he was, he hardly noticed when they had reached the Hufflepuff table. He quickly say down as quietly as he could manage, pulling the Welsh boy with him. He had positioned them at the end of the table as to hopefully go unnoticed by the others. Leaning closer to the other male he whispered into his ear. "Just act like... I don't know. I was going to say a Hufflepuff, but I don't really know if there is a way to act like one."

Galahad nodded along to Judas' tale of his journey towards the Gryffindor table, fascinated as to how the other can make his own experience into a fable of his own. Almost as if he had read it off a child's book. "Going against the swamps creature, let alone a guardian? Why that sounds far more adventurous in my mind, are you sure we're still in Hogwarts?"
"No matter how it turns out, I'll still be proud of it. After all, it's something we're making together, a collaboration with one of my friends? Why I think that's the main thing I'm looking forward to." He paused for a second, deciding to add onto what more he was excited for. "That and discovering magical plants, I wonder what this world holds? It's almost like anything could happen if you think about it."
Galahad had a lot of free time growing up, whilst he did have friends in his muggle school. He could never have them over, his parents being a tad protective as they didn't know what type of children Galahad had mingled with the inside of school. Afraid to expose him to the outside world, and the dangers and pain it held. Crocheting and Gardening were something that kept Galahad busy, even if at times he had found himself not motivated to do such hobbies. Yet he always picked them back up, when he took small breaks from them.
Galahad let out a quiet chuckle, furrowing his brows as he tried to think of how a Hufflepuff would act. Tapping his chin, he let out a quiet hum. "So.. should I just, simmer down any lingering confidence? How would a Hufflepuff act?" He spoke in a low tone, so no one could hear the conversation they held amongst themselves. "I suppose I can just try to blend in with the crowd, maybe try to ease down any leftover energy I have." As he spoke his right leg had been bouncing, the auburn-haired male taking quick notice and putting a firm hand on it in hopes of not giving himself away. Even by the littlest action, he did not want to mess this up for the both of them. "That boat ride here was really something else, wasn't it?" He let out a quiet laugh at the thought, a small groan escaping his lips. Galahad could remember it clearly, how couldn't he? For the entire duration of it, he was pressing against Judas' side fearfully eyeing the waves he had prayed that tiny boat wouldn't sink. Practically jumping out of it, once they had finally reached land.

Judas couldn't help the smile that spread across his face. He couldn't say he missed Galahad, or rather, he shouldn't. Yet somehow, that was how he'd felt. The pinkie promise they made was an assurance they would stick together. Through all that this new school had to offer. They could take it on together. Nodding his head at the taller boy's assessment of his own exaggerated story. He laughed happily. Looking around dramatically, he replied. "Yes, I think I'm still in Hogwarts."
"The book will be special regardless." He said happily. "And I'm sure ther will be a ton of Magical plants for you to look into. I'll be honest, this new world scares me a bit. How do I know if I'll even be good at this magic stuff anyway?"
He did truly wonder what this world would have I. Store for the both of them. The Welsh boy appeared more comfortable with the knowledge they would soon be taking classes and learning about magic. While Judas was excited, he was also very nervous. It felt odd to be given suck a rare opportunity when his whole life, his magic had felt more like a curse than a blessing. When they'd explained to his mother that all the instances of 'wild magic' were normal for children untrained in the arts, she was worried for him. In turn, Judas had been worried for himself. He just couldn't imagine such a thing. Now as he sat beside his new friend, he did feel magic.
He nudged the other male with his shoulder playfully at the joke about Gryffindors. "Well, maybe just be yourself. I like that much better." Upon noticing how Galahad attempted to stop his leg shaking, he knocked his knee against the other lightly. "Hey, don't worry about it. I'm sure everything will be fine. I don't think having energy would make you blend or not blend. I think it's probably normal to be excited."
Reaching for an additional plate, he set it down in front of the other boy. He then began filling his own plate. He wasn't sure how much he could eat as his stomach was still in knots, but he would push through. "The boats were nerve-wracking. I didn't see anything pulling them. I wonder how they did it." He smiled fondly remembering how the other male had been so nervous. He couldn't say he wasn't nervous as well, but the way Galahad held onto him was funny. He was at least happy he provided some comfort. Even if the boat had nearly tipped due to the other's haste to get to dry land.

Galahad's expression had begun to light up at the mere mention of discovering new magical plants, yet it was quickly replaced with concern as he looked over at the other. Gave him a playful nudge, as he flashed his teeth at the male. "Hey, I'm sure out of the two of us you'll handle this magical stuff just fine." He spoke in a soft tone, hoping to lighten the other's nerves. Understanding his worries, after all, they were thrown into something so astounding for children their age. "If anything, it's okay to be scared. It's kinda like being dumped into a new school, or home if you think about it."
Galahad was looking forward to the classes that they had in store, wondering what he may excel at or even may need some assistance in. Hoping he could hold his patience for all of them, knowing how much difficulty he had when it came to sitting in classes. Sometimes he was annoyed with how fidgety he was, as he would usually miss important pieces in lessons. Hoping that he could be able to find a way to keep himself still and focused, so he could be able to pass at least some classes. He wasn't sure how the other was handling all the new information that was going to be thrown at them, he had to admit the Hufflepuff was a tad hard to read. Yet he didn't mind it, finding it all the more interesting to learn about his friend.
Galahad looked surprised, brightening up as he rested his chin on the palm of his hand. Glad to find out the other liked him for being himself. "Really? Well then, I'll be the best Galahad I can be." The male glanced down at the other knee, finding his own coming to a quick halt as he listened to the male. "You have a point, I suppose it's just my first time doing something like this." He chuckled out, the male not really being much of a rule breaker. Yet he didn't mind it, finding it thrilling.
"Thank you." He smiled at the male, beginning to place a few things on his own plate. Shrugging as he began to wonder that as well, it seemed like a rather hard concept to wrap his head around. "Maybe they used a sort of spell for it? I'm not quite sure myself, I'm just glad we were able to get back onto the land. Any longer and I probably would've tipped our boat." He chuckled a tad, using his utensil to toy with the food for a second before taking a bite. "I apologize if I was overwhelming, I don't do well with large bodies of water. You never know what could be in there, and I would not like to find out myself."
"I think I'm going to do some reading tonight, see if I can get caught up on some pieces of information for each class." For once the male was able to sit still, his gaze on the plate in front of him. His thoughts lingered on each individual house, wondering what encountering a student from Ravenclaw or Slytherin would be like. "Do you think Ravenclaw and Slytherin are as intimidating as the book seems to make them come off as?"
