Grasping a suitcase that he had packed the night before, Galahad made his way to the platform. It had been his parents who had brought him to the station. Despite all his efforts, Galahad was still pretty anxious. His parents made sure the journey was safe and filled with words of encouragement. A new school, a magical one at that? It was too good to be true, surely this couldn't be real. Ultimately, the auburn-haired male insisted he could walk the remaining distance, and both of his parents hugged him tightly before letting him continue. With that Galahad proceeded to start looking around, he had found platform 9, but where was 9 3/4? It didn't help that his stress was skyrocketing, as time was beginning to run out when it came to boarding the train. He began to pace platform 9, his free hand gripping onto his auburn hair as mumbled words of comfort to himself. Pausing when had spotted a family stand in front of the brick wall, of platform 9.
Galahad watched as the parents had reassured their children to, before they were seen disappearing out of thin air after running into a wall. In a hesitant manner, Galahad reached out to the wall, placing a hand on it. Furrowing his brows as it felt like a simple stone wall. The young man glanced around while taking a few steps back, as he prayed for whatever unworldly being existed that might have some kind of mercy on him for what he was about to do. Finally, he bolted towards the wall, squeezing his eyes shut as ran into it. A sharp gasp escaped his lips as he phased through the stone wall. He stopped in his tracks once he stumbled out, looking around as he spotted the Hogwarts express almost instantly. A laugh of relief escaped his lips as he looked at his hands, his olive-colored eyes filled with relief, before hurrying off to enter the train.
Galahad entered an empty compartment, or so he thought it was empty. Pausing as he spotted a rather scrawny male, curiosity laced his eyes as he smiled a tad. Mustering up the courage to speak up, as he held onto the compartment door. "Would you mind if I sat here? It's a miracle I even got here on time, let alone find a compartment." The auburn-haired male bit his tongue, hoping he wasn't coming off as rude. Finally, he flashed a toothy grin, trying to hide how nervous he was. His canines were his most prominent feature, which was just mere genetics from his father's side.

The train ride to magic!
September 1st, 2021
Trying to keep his feet beneath him, Judas struggled to keep up with his mother as she pulled him through the crowded train station. The iron grip she had on his wrist caused him to wince, but he remained silent for fear of causing her any distress. He could already see how panicked she was. They'd arrived nearly 2 hours early, but still had no luck finding the platform. With a huff, she pulled him down to a bench and kneeled down in front of him. She looked as if tears would pour from her eyes at any moment. Reaching up to place a hand over where hers was still holding tightly, he gave her a small smile. "Mom. It's going to be fine. I'll be okay."
"Oh honey!" She said pulling him into a tight hug.
"Are you sure?"
Of course. He lied.
"Well, if you're sure." She said with a slight sniffle. "I am running rather late. Promise me you'll write?"
"Of course." He replied. With one last hug, she left him to wait at the bench in front of platforms 9 and 10. Watching her leave, he let out a long shaky sigh. Truth be told he was a hair's breath away from spontaneously combusting from the speed at which his heart was beating. He'd never been more terrified of anything in his life, but he didn't have much of a choice in this matter. Going to this school was the best option given the circumstances and even more than that, it was a great opportunity. Or so his mother had repeatedly said. Holding his arms around himself, he watched as the people passed, hoping he would find someone who knew where to go.
It took about an hour before he noticed a suspicious group walk by, then head straight for a wall. He was concerned for their wellbeing for only a moment, then let another shaky breath out as he saw them disappear. Ignoring his fear momentarily, he followed after them.
Once aboard, he found the first empty compartment he could, and promptly closed the door. It was several minutes before he managed to calm himself. Once he'd managed it, he pulled his legs up to his chest and looked out the window with his chin resting on his knee. He'd only just begun to let his eyes close for a short nap, when the sound of the door startled him.
He jumped slightly squeezing his knees tighter to his chest. He only managed a short glance, with his mis-matched eyes at the taller boy, who was smiling nervously as well."Oh. I mean, yeah. Sure." He rampled for a moment before he realized he hadn't even put his bags up yet.
Hopping up quickly, he began to move his things out of the way. "So Sorry, I'll just,-"
He didn't have a chance to finish before a loud whistle interrupted him. When the train suddenly lurched forward to begin moving, he felt is balance suddenly give way. His arms flailed widely as he tried to catch himself letting a quiet curse slip out in the process.

Galahad carefully eyed the male in his nervous state, a sense of relief washing over him as he began to ease down. "Hey no worries, here let me help-" Just as he was about to help the other get his things settled, the abrupt movement of the train caught him off guard for a brief second. Eyes widening as he quickly dropped everything, catching the other out of quick thinking. He paused for a brief minute, glancing down at him as he hurriedly let him go once he settled. "My apologies, are you okay? I didn't mean to get that close, really!" His pale cheeks burned a light red a tad embarrassed which was shown by how quickly he spoke, hoping he didn't make the other uncomfortable by any means. "Would you still like me to help you with your bags..? If not that is completely okay." Galahad had to take a breather, trying to figure out why he had gotten so flustered a minute there. Pushing his hair back which only resulted in his curly hair to fall back in place, quickly getting to work as he tried to keep his mind off of any ongoing thoughts. Deciding it would be best not to dwell on the question any further.
The male quickly got to work by putting away his own suitcase, trying to keep his mind preoccupied at that moment. Extended a hand for the raven-haired male's bags, just in case the other had accepted the help. Galahad quickly tried to lighten the mood, a chuckle escaping his lips. "That was a shaky introduction, wasn't it? My name is Galahad Damaris, it's my first year attending this school." His olive-colored eyes returned to the other's multicolored eyes, now that things had settled down, he was able to finally get a good look at his current compartment buddy for the journey. Deciding it would be best to at least get to know someone, even if they may not interact with each other again. "What's your name? You seem quite anxious yourself, is it also your first year here?"
Once the bags were put away, he finally seated himself across from the mystery male. Tilting his head slightly, he tried to think of more ways to ease any sort of tension. "I don't know anything about all this magical stuff, it's quite odd being pulled out of your everyday life just to be told you're a wizard." He folded his hands on his lap, relaxing his form. Something that was hard for the energetic male, especially with the current situation. "However I find crocheting rather relaxing, it's a wonderful stress reliever. Do you have any hobbies, that may put you at ease?"

The train ride to magic!

"It’s okay, honest. I'm okay, you're okay. I think the luggage is okay." He bit his lip looking away as he realized he was rambling again. At the offer to help with his luggage, he hastily shook his head. "Oh no. It ain't that heavy. I can manage."
Once his belongings were secured, he sat awkwardly pulling his knees to his chest once more. He then realized his mistake and corrected his posture immediately putting his feet back down. Clutching a book to his chest, he couldn't help but smile at the other boy's joke. A shaky introduction indeed. Reaching for the hand that was offered, he nearly dropped his book, but recovered quickly. Shaking the boy's hand firmly as his father had tried to teach him, he introduced himself as well. When their eyes met, he quickly looked down allowing his hair to fall into his face. "Kaine... uhm. Judas Kaine. And yea- yes! It's my first year."
He tried to keep the southern twang from his voice, but realized quickly it was going to be impossible. His mother assured him, his accent would change eventually if he tried.
When the other boy was seated, he listened closely as the other explained how he was new to this magical stuff as well. Instant relief flooded through him. "Me too. I was worried I was gonna be the only one who didn't know anything yet. I've been readin' this book, it helps." He said showing off his copy of Hogwarts: A History. He smiled sweetly listening to Galahad explain his hobby. It was interesting to picture a boy crocheting. He'd have never been able to do such things living with his father and older brothers. He considered his own hobbies as he nodded. "I like animals, reading 'bout them I mean. Oh. And music. I've been playin' piano since I was 5."
He paused awkwardly, before posing a question of his own,"So, did you go to that wizard street too? With all the crazy shops?"

Galahad was glad that the awkwardness was quick to go away, surprised at the male's tight grip when it came to a simple handshake. "Kaine Judas. That's a wonderful name, it truly is brilliant!" He spoke enthusiastically, his grin never faltering from his face. The auburn-haired male straightened his back, fixing his own posture. It appeared that the other knew how to hide his accent at that moment, as Galahad appeared to not have noticed it. The auburn-haired male's accent wasn't too deep, as he had only been raised in England at the age of six. Yet due to his own parents being Welsh, he had more of a Welsh accent rather than a British one.
He looked ecstatic to find out that the other was also a first-year, clapping his hands with excitement. Letting out a small laugh, before speaking up. "Oh, wonderful! Maybe if we're lucky enough, we can even share a few classes together." The boy exclaimed as he thought it would be nice to stick with someone, who he may be familiar with. His olive eyes gazed at the book, giving the other a nod. "I'll certainly have to start reading my own copy then, maybe it'll help me get a decent footing into this new environment."
His posture would shift and change every few minutes, showing how he was incapable to hold still if his life depended on it. Yet despite that, his attention was held onto the raven-haired male. Finally getting comfortable, he shifted his weight onto the wall finally able to sit still. "You play piano? Maybe I can hear you play sometime? If that's okay with you!" Galahad raised his brows, wondering if the other had owned a pet since Judas seemed like the type to have a piece of wide knowledge of animals.
He looked surprised by the mention of the wizard street, nodding his head quickly. As he had recalled his own personal experience there. "Oh yes! It was absolutely fascinating, I personally couldn't focus on one thing. It took me an hour at best just to get all my supplies!" He admitted, embarrassed by the fact. Yet he hoped the other hadn't judged, as he thought over what he had saw over there. "Did you see the owls for sale? They were absolutely magnificent, I'll be honest I wanted to purchase one but I couldn't afford it. I think my mother would kill me if I came back with a pet." He laughed at the thought, shaking his head slightly. "Do you have a pet of any sorts? You seem like the type of person who would have a pet, but I could be wrong."

The train ride to magic!
September 1st, 2021
"It's a fascinating book, really. Did you know there are four separate houses? Named after each of the founders? I don't know which I'll be sorted into, but I hope they're friendly." He said with a slight blush chancing another look.
The boy's energy was all over the place and he couldn't help, but notice his trouble sitting still. He'd once had a similar problem, but after a firm scolding from his parents he had quickly learned not to fidget. It was somewhat endearing on Galahad though. It made him appear more human, more approachable. Still, Judas avoided eye contact as he noticed the boy's attention was on him completely. Once the boy had settled, asking him about his musical talents, Judas let his own body relax a bit. At the mention of watching him play, Judas hurriedly shook his head.
"Oh, I'm not that good." He said modestly. "It'd probably be borin'."
Hearing the other's view about Diagon Alley was fun. He'd felt much the same way, but he hadn't had as much time to look around the place as he would have liked. Even upon hearing how long it took the other to get his things, he felt somewhat envious of the time he'd had to look around. The only place he'd really stopped to explore was the Pet Store. Judas agreed with the boy on that matter. The owl's were stunning. He'd never been able to see one up close before. The birds of prey in the zoo were only ever brought out for shows and educational purposes.
"I liked them as well, I've read dozens of articles about their diets, territorial behaviors and even mating patterns." Realizing he may have been overly enthusiastic about the animals, he stopped himself from continuing. Blushing he cleared his throat awkwardly. "but I'm more interested in, well..." He paused briefly considering if the information would be considered weird, but decided to continue regardless. "I like arachnids. I've always thought they were fascinatin', but I think my mom would have a stroke if she'd heard I'd gotten one."
Judas couldn't help but laugh at the memory of his mother's face when he'd tried to explain how they were terribly misunderstood creatures. Maybe she would come around now that she knew a pet like that would be welcome at Hogwarts. That way she wouldn't have to deal with a spider while he was gone. He chanced a look upwards to the other boy as he offered the information. He hoped he didn't sound too strange. He'd been scolded all his life about how strange he was. How he wasn't like the other kids and needed to try more to fit in. At the thought, he quickly averted his gaze trying hide his eyes once more.

The train compartment was filled with a nice atmosphere now, the auburn-haired noticing how his own fits of laughter were starting to grow contagious. He couldn't help it however, Galahad was genuinely having a good time with this new friend? acquaintance? He couldn't tell what they were at that exact moment, but he paid little mind to it. Wanting to live in that moment, and enjoy the conversation while he could. Not knowing when or even if, he'd have a conversation like this one again.
"Four houses? I didn't quite know that, mind if I take a look?"The male moved from his seat, taking the empty spot next to Judas. He was able to get a good look at the males blushing face, wondering if the compartment was too hot. Decided it would be best to open the window in a minute, wanting to find out about the Hogwarts houses. Craning his head to look at the book, wanting to see what he was talking about. He was unaware of this and almost looked bird-like in some odd sense as his curiosity sprouted. "Do you have a house that you absolutely want to get into? Honestly, I don't think I can tell the difference between all four of them. So I suppose I can't really decide, what I'd want for a house."
Galahad paused once he heard the male comment on his musical talent, a warm smile slipping on his face as he gave him a gentle nudge."Well hey, if you ever want to play to anyone. Just know a certain Olive-eyed male would be the first to take up the offer." His tone softened a tad, not wanting to push the other further on the topic in case he was uncomfortable with it.
Galahad was quickly taken back by the male's knowledge of owls, eyes widening at the thought of arachnids. "Well now I'm curious, what more do you know about arachnids? I can see why most people would be afraid of them, but really they can be harmless so long as a person doesn't provoke them." He thought of his life back at home, chuckling a tad as he crossed one of his legs. "My mother would have me catch any we found at home, then put them out in the garden. Hopefully, my father can take over that task while I'm gone."
He glanced over at the other, wondering how much of a fixation he had on arachnids. For some odd reason, he thought it made the quiet male stand out a little. Not most were able to bravely say they had more of an interest in arachnids, without the possibility of getting judged for it. Yet Galahad wasn't here to judge or criticize the male's interests, after all, it wasn't harming anyone. "Maybe someday you can get a pet spider, I'd love to see them if you ever do get to own one." The auburn-haired male thought of some potential names for a spider, realizing how much fun one could have with naming an eight-legged friend. "If I ever got a spider, I'd probably name it something dumb like Wally. I'm not the best at picking out names, but it's a cute name if you ask me."

The train ride to magic!
September 1st, 2021
For the first time in what felt like years, Judas was surrendering to the feeling of contentment. The mood that filled the air was so light-hearted and jovial, he was could almost be in a completely different world. Well, in fact, he was. It was the Wizarding World. He'd often thought himself to be too unusual to have many friends(if any at all), but this Galahad was so kind. He sincerely hoped they could be considered friends. For now; however, he took solace in the idea of a nice train ride with pleasant company.
When the boy moved closer, craning his head to get a look at the book, Judas's pulse sped up once more. He wasn't used to being in such close proximity to anyone but his mother. It was simultaneously heartwarming and terrifying. The other boy seemed to be perfectly comfortable with the situation and Judas tried his best not to let his timid nature get the best of him. He'd always wanted a friend to be so familiar with. He wasn't even sure why he felt so nervous. Swallowing the lump in his throat that had formed he pulled on his collar nervously. "Not at all."
Opening the book to the page about the founders, he offered it for the other to see. Pointing to the moving portraits he indicated which ones were which. "I'm not really particular about which house, but I'd rather not be in Slytherin. It was rumored that he didn't like, muggles or muggle-borns. That's what they call non-magical people: Muggles." He then pointed to another moving portrait of Godric Gryffindor who stood majestically in front of a lion embroidered tapestry. "I kinda like the look of this one, but I don't think I'm brave enough for that house." He laughed shyly.
When the topic had turned to his musical ability, he ducked his head. The nudge to his shoulder caused him to look over abruptly. "Olive? I don't think they're shaped lik-" He asked confused for a moment before realizing his mistake. He hastily corrected himself adding, "Right. You have.. olive eyes. Olive colored I mean. You mean you. Of course you mean you." Realizing he was rambling, he took a deep breath. The boy was offering to be his first audience and he should be flattered, not panicking about his eyesight. Taking another breath he tried to relax his body language once more. He didn't want the other boy to think he wasn't enjoying his friendliness.
Even so, he could see the look of surprise cross Galahad's face as the conversation moved onto his interest in animals. Another brief flicker of anxiety hit him, but the boy was actually being really cool about the whole thing. Even going so far as to explain how he handled spiders at home. This set him at ease quickly and he found himself forgetting his panic and laughing at the thought of his having to be the one to put them in the garden.
"I'd name him Octavius. Like, Octo 'cause they got Eight legs." He smiled happily. "But I really like 'Wally' too. It's kind of an adorable name for somethin' most people are so scared of."
Pondering his love of animals, he considered the classes available to him. He knew of a class about magical creatures, but it wouldn't be until his 3rd year. It was kind of unfortunate. As he gave Galahad a once over, he wondered what subject the boy might be interested in. "So, what are you excited about learning? Do you know at all what kind of classes they might have?"

Galahad raised his brows in interest once Judas had begun to explain each founder, his gaze lingering on the moving images. The auburn-haired male could feel his heart race in excitement, the Wizarding world never ceased to surprise him. "Muggles huh? That's a new term, so technically I'm a muggle-born?" He pointed to himself, it was an odd title. Yet he couldn't help but like it, slowly nodding to himself. "I quite like it, in some odd sense at least I know a little bit as to what I am around these parts." Galahad eyed Godric Gryffindor, fascination lacing his eyes. Something about the founder captivated him, how he stood with confidence as if he held the world over his shoulders. Galahad yearned for that sort of confidence, he quickly jolted out of his thoughts. "Don't be so harsh on yourself! You're quite brave in your own way if you think about it." He tried to reassure the other, offering a warm smile.
Galahad stared at the stuttering male, a small chuckle escaping his lips. "However, I'm sure anyone else would love to hear you play." He confirmed, hoping it would help settle the male down. Even for just a minute, hoping he hadn't unintentionally embarrassed the other. "Just let me know if you ever consider, alright?"
Galahad stared at the male after he stated the name for a spider, his smile forming into a wide grin at the nickname. Something about it the clever pun got a small laugh out of the male, covering his mouth as he tried to cool down his excitement before it had gotten overboard. "Octavius! Judas you are incredible, absolutely incredible! I wouldn't have thought of a name like that myself, you have to name at least one spider now Octavius now. It's perfect, the little pun in its name just completes it." Who knew a name for a pet spider had gotten Galahad so giddy, yet the male couldn't help it. It was cleverly put together, especially with how quickly Judas was able to think it up.
The question had quickly stopped Galahad's small laughter, his brows furrowing together as he slumped back into the seat. Trying to give it some good thought, snapping his fingers once he had gotten something in mind. "I'll be quite honest, I don't really know. I heard there was this class centered around herbs and magical plants however if that's the case I'd look forward to that sort of class. Sure I know a fair share about Muggle herbs and plants, but magical plants and herbs? That's something new, something thrilling. Imagine being able to have your own little magical garden! My mother would certainly be shocked, that's for sure. Just imagine growing carrots, to whatever this world has to offer." As he spoke his gaze remained towards the wall, yet those olive-colored eyes would light up as if speaking to a person. Doing hand gestures to emphasize his excitement, his passion really did show when it came to talking about things he enjoyed or loved.
Galahad finally calmed himself down once he was finished with his little rant, realizing he had been staring at the wall throughout it. Hoping he didn't come off as impolite, he let out a small chuckle. Rubbing the back of his neck, he glanced over at the other. "My apologies.. I rambled off for a second there, but what about you? What classes are you looking forward to? Surely it has to be far more interesting than simple plants, surely."

The train ride to magic!
September 1st, 2021
In all the time Judas had spent around other boys of his age, or even the rare instances his brothers tolerated his presence, he'd never enjoyed another's company quite so much. Every word that came out of the boy's mouth was spoken with such passion. Along with his energetic personality, Galahad's smile was incredibly infectious. Judas couldn't have stopped the grin spreading across his face if he tried. With every new topic about the wizarding world that Judas offered, the other boy seemed genuinely interested in his opinion. Even going so far as to reassure Judas about his fear of performing for others. He was beginning to see merit in the idea as well. He might actually consider playing for the other boy if he ever worked up the courage.
Upon hearing the other's reaction to his name suggestion, he looked up towards the grin spreading across the boy's face. The laughter he heard made him smile. Hearing the boy compliment his choice of name, he felt quite proud of himself all the sudden. The word's of encouragement made his chest flutter in a way he hadn't felt before. It was an odd feeling to have and not something he'd ever experienced. He wasn't used to being praised for his ideas. He liked the feeling.
Feeling brave enough to ask the other boy about his preferred subject, Judas was delighted to once more see the boy become quite impassioned. The way he spoke so animatedly caused Judas to forget his own self-consciousness and stare at the boy in wonder. He felt relaxed as he noticed how the other boy was so engaged his hopes that he was all but staring into space as he spoke. He wondered if maybe Galahad was actually envisioning the garden he spoke of.
After some time, the boy calmed down once more and Judas was sad to see him stop wavi g his hands about. It was so entertaining to watch. Blushing as the boy turned to him, he hoped he hadn't noticed his staring. He offered a reassuring smile quickly before ducking his head, "Nothin' to apologize for. You sound so passionate about plants. Just as much as I am about animals, if not more."
"It's funny actually, 'cause I love animals and you love plants. I guess we both like nature in our own ways." He added before taking a moment to to consider the boy's question. He chewed at his painted nails nervously as he considered what class he would enjoy the most. He couldn't tell, but he hoped he'd picked a normal color like black(nope, they're green). He hadn't bothered to look at the bottle. The momentary distraction had him thinking about bottles and he remembered how he had imagined making his own nail polish. "I suppose, Potions. I don't really know what other subjects I would like other than Care of Magical Creatures, but that isn't on any list of classes for first year that I can tell. So I guess I'll go with Potions. It sounds interesting enough."
