Ugh, That's understandable. When your brain just cant focus on one thing and you get so anxious and annoyed. It's annoying when your brain doesnt work the way you wish.

any professors reading this, i know you guys mean well, but grading commentary telling someone to put 'more effort' and that you'd get an O if so, is a little discouraging/disheartening. at least it is to me when i really, really tried. oki bye.

@juniper kelly, i regard my brain as a child of great disappointment. it can never make me proud no matter what it does. reminds me of my own mother

i keep waking up at 3-4am before the morning comes it's so frustrating 🥲 #adhdstruggles

but i've also discovered that adhd folks have trouble falling asleep bc our brain works in reverse psychology--if we're try to sleep we'll be awake and if we try to stay awake that's when we fall asleep

Just close your eyes, think of something and focus deeply on your thoughts as it runs. I feel that it makes brain tired after awhile, for me.

I don't think you can help waking up at 4am. It just happens when you sleep at a decent time.

I finally got meds. Took it this morning. Like, I feel I can finally control my thoughts and enjoy the music in my ears. Like I CANNOT daydream. Daydream has been my default brainmode for years - and now I cant??? My brain feels subtly but noticeably different... tighter... more rigid and not all loose. Idk that's the best I can put it. I'm not stammering as much when talking. Time seems to go slightly slower now that I'm paying attention. Usually I can just escape in my thoughts and time just passes. Idk wether I prefer this or not. It's so different to my normalcy for about 20 years.

uh... i kind of want my thoughts back... but at the same time not really. its so unfamiliar.... its so quiet, focused and almost calm. i never thought i'd ever think of... nothing. i cant seem to play character interactions in my head, wishful thinking or um... intensive life planning as i do by default when bored. those usually are when epic thread/plot ideas are produced. maybe if i tried harder i could. neurotypicals... are your brains like this on a daily basis?

i remember last year when i was locked in my previous flat's bathroom for 5-6 hours due to a faulty door. no phone whatsoever. i took refuge in my thoughts/mind and it flew past quickly now i wonder what would happen if that happen again but with me on meds. i doubt i'd survive.

Hi!

Aurelia that sounds awful. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't daydream or lose myself in my thoughts like I am used to.

Tbh, I think it's just the first day effects and brain adapting to it. I have had my thoughts on now - daydreaming is not nearly as excessive as it used to be when I'm on meds. It's much calmer not being 'anxious' and slightly fidgetty due to said anxiety. I'm able to live more irl than excessively in my head which is much more ideal. I can actually catch onto what ppl say rather than words just flying over my head. Speaking about words - my speech is much smoother without the stuttering from mispronouncing words when my thought are just constantly jumbled like earphone wires.

There are obviously side effects - but that's for my doctor and I to figure out. Other than that, I'm doing really well. I've had breakfast 4 days in a row and actually have a decent sleep schedule.
