Pride and prejudice

As the Ravenclaw sat at the desk in the classroom, she held her head down and focused on her homework, she needed to get it done wo that it would not bother her for the rest of the week, even if it was due in a week, she still felt better if she had one last thing done, written off the list.
As Clair sat there and read her homework, filling in the questions that she knew by heart. And skipping the other and saving them for last, some where harder then others, so e needed more research and some needed common sense.
As Clair worked through her homework she soon realized that her ink well was empty, with no extra ones, The Ravenclaw would need to resort to the muggle ways, pulling the ball point pen out of her bag, she began to write with the muggle tool from her home, she still found ball point Pens easier to use then Quills, which where a pain, as her pen glided across the parchment, Clair was able to write faster then with a quill and still be able to write neatly, only downside of this; it showed she was a Muggleborn.

There was no real point in denying it. The Goodwin family were purists, and while they never really openly admitted it to the general public, it was quite painstakingly obvious. Growing up, Vienna was paraded with purist propaganda, her grandmother going on and on about how bad muggles, muggle-borns, and muggle influence was. Even Vienna had been tormented for being a half-blood.
But at least Vienna knew there was one thing worse than her. At least she had a bit of magical blood. Half, in fact. But she knew there were some wizards and witches out there with none at all. Muggle-borns. Vienna didn't hate them as much as her family. She knew they were old-fashioned and overall bad people, so she didn't often take advice from them anyway. But considering it was a topic that was emphasized in her household for so many years, Vienna couldn't help but allow it to influence her thoughts. She tried her best to contain it, but deep down she knew she saw muggle-borns as below her, inferior.
So perhaps it was for this reason Vienna's attention had been caught that day. You see, the problem was, Vienna never actually knew when somebody was a muggle-born. They were different, yes, but overall they were just normal kids, much like everybody else at the school. She saw no point in digging out the muggleborns, it wasn't like some witch hunt. So the thoughts just lingered, stored in the back of her head until she actually met one.
But that opportunity presented itself to her that day in the classroom. She scribbled down on her homework, hoping to get it done so her afternoon that day could be free. She worked swiftly, easily clearing each question. It was a subject she found quite easy, as she remembered majority of the topics from her tutoring her grandmother provided her back home.
As she worked, her gaze fell upon the young Ravenclaw girl next to her. She watched as the girl ran out of ink, setting down her quill and digging through her bag. Looking for another ink well, perhaps? But no, the girl whipped out something totally different. A pen. Vienna had heard of one, a muggle tool. A writing instrument which, much like a quill, used ink. However, the utensil required no well, for the ink was stored inside it.
Vienna tilted her head. Why did this girl have a muggle tool? Then it hit her. There was no denying it. This girl was definitely a muggleborn. She observed the girl, her gaze moving between her face, the pen, then dropping down to her parchment. Vienna squinted. A few questions appeared to be unanswered. She leaned over to the side towards the girl.
"Hey," she whispered, her finger pointing at one of the unanswered questions. "This one's etymology," She pointed out. "I did a lesson one time on it. Back home. I did tutoring," she added with a shrug, before pausing. "I wouldn't expect you to know, since you're, well, a mudblood," Vienna blurted.
It had been a word commonly tossed around in her household. Her grandmother had taught her to hold it in, never to say it while in public. Especially Hogwarts. But now, as she pointed out the answers on this girl's homework, the word had simply slipped. A mere word, yes, but she failed to realize the impact one little word could have.

It was nothing to talk to Clair, sure anyone could talk to claim and she would chat along, her easy going personality and love of talking helped with that, and she normally liked to help, or if need be, be helped, but there was one thing you should never do, try to help Clair with her homework without asking, this was something that bugged Clair like crazy, it would make her feel like snapping at whoever did it, even if they were only trying to help.
So at first when another girl came over Clair was going to greet her and ask if she needed help, but when the girl decided to tell Clair what one of the questions were, and then decide to finish her sentence with the fact that Clair would not know, because she is a Mudblood Clair felt like if she was a dog, she would have Bristoled her fur along her neck, and bared her teeth,
How bold of the other girl! To say such a thing! Clair held her fist shut.
"I think I'll manage to figure out this by my self, Purist" she spat the word Purist out, just to show her unhappy thoughts on the girls words.
She glared at the girl, her hand balled up in anger.
Sweet Clair, had turned into the dangerous Clair.

Outfit: Uniform Normally, when Adelaide Barlowe was busy studying, doing homework or reading, her ears automatically tuned out everything that was going on around her. She didn't listen to, nor care about other people's conversations. The blonde was more interested in doing her work correctly and making sure that there was no mistakes, and she had next to no room for distractions. So, as she dipped her quill into her ink pot and started to write the answer to the next question, she paid little to no attention to the conversation taking place between two girls near her. That was until the word 'Mudblood' came out of a girl's mouth. Her head snapped up, zeroing in on the girl who had said the atrocious word. Her eyes flicked between the two girls, noticing the other writing with something other than a quill - likely a Muggle item. Back to the other girl, wearing the Slytherin uniform, likely a blood supremacist who thought she was better than everyone, if Adelaide had to guess.
The Muggle-born girl seemed to be able to stand up for herself perfectly fine, but Adelaide would be damned if she were to just sit here and watch someone belittle the girl for her blood status without saying anything. "Hey," Adelaide snapped, "what's your problem?" She directed the question to the Slytherin with narrowed eyes, "Are you so insecure that you think throwing that word around makes you better than everyone? You're pathetic, grow up." She seethed.
Despite being a Pure-blood, Adelaide was the complete opposite of a blood supremacist. Since her father had grown up in that toxic environment, being fed lies upon lies about muggles and muggle-borns, he had been adamant in teaching his daughter's differently: everyone was equal and worthy of the magic they possessed, no matter their blood status. The Ravenclaw barely spoke to her father's side of the family, since majority of them still held those toxic views even today. Adelaide really didn't understand it, why do some Pure-bloods think themselves better than everyone merely because their blood is 'pure'? She had thought them views had mostly disappeared with kids her age, only the older witches and wizards still believing in them, but apparently not.

Perhaps it was a bit unjustified for Vienna to be so shocked when the girl spoke back. After all, Vienna had thrown the first punch, hadn't she? Yet Vienna's breath seemed to hitch as the girl clenched her fist, and uttered a word Vienna had heard many times. Purist. Vienna pursed her lips. She wasn't as affected by the word, for her family had been labeled it many times. However, she couldn't help but feel her stomach drop as the girl spat the word out.
Vienna inhaled. "Will you now? It looked to me like you had no clue what you were doing. You should be thanking me for stopping you from failing," she hissed. A bit rude, she had to admit. She never really attacked unprovoked, and this girl had pretty much done nothing. But she was too far in now. And the last thing she'd do was apologize. She scowled, looking down at the girl with a stern expression. She couldn't give in now.
However, they were suddenly interrupted by the voice of another girl. Despite the call being nameless, Vienna couldn't help but whip around to the sound of the voice. This girl, dressed in a Ravenclaw uniform like the other, seemed angry. Had she overheard their conversation? Was she another muggle-born, coming to criticize Vienna for uttering the word? Or was she perhaps... here to take Vienna's side? Vienna doubted it. There weren't many others like her or her family left in the wizarding world. Most people saw muggles and muggle-borns as equals, at this point. And Vienna kind of did. Kind of. But as much as she wanted to dispose of the hurtful stereotypes, her family's cruel ideals had already been successfully implanted into her head. Maybe if someone could convince her, completely explain to Vienna her wrongdoings, then perhaps she'd change. But nobody had yet. So here she was.
Vienna's speculation of the girl's intentions were confirmed as she spoke. Great. She was getting ganged up on, wasn't she? She internally winced as the girl spoke. Insecure. Pathetic. Perhaps she really was, perhaps those were the reasons she was the way she was. Perhaps the girl was right. But Vienna would never accept it, no less allow the girl to know. She scoffed, trying to keep her stern composure.
"Are you another one of them?" She asked mockingly, clearly speaking about muggleborns. "Or are you a pureblood that has such a lack of self-respect that you'll allow yourself to be tossed around by people like her?" She asked as she gestured to the muggleborn girl. "Now that's pathetic," she said as she crossed her arms.

Whether it was because she was upset or because she had another person on her side, the Ravenclaw felt bolder, she glared at the Slytherin girl, "Really? You think she is the one who is pathetic?" Clair spat every word other the she, the other Ravenclaw did not need to be spat at.if the following contents are too much, feel free to owl or DM me, and I'll edit it to ne less rude![]()
"Do you think that because I'm a Muggle born and your a Pure blood that your any better then me? Guess what, your no better then any Muggle born, you know why?" She paused for a quick moment, before going on "Because your a bully, you think you can just pick on people and then use That word to make us feel bad about ourselves, no thank you."
Clair stopped and took a few deep breaths, she could go on, she wanted to go on, but she decided to hold herself back, if she went on she would be no better then the other girl, she would be proving her point even less, no she would not go on, she was not a bully, she would only hold her ground, no pushing back to hard.

Outfit: Uniform Adelaide's jaw clenched as she narrowed her eyes at the Slytherin girl, "Does it matter?" She hissed, "If you really need to know, I am a Pure-blood that has a lot more self-respect than you ever will. I am not being 'tossed around', if anything, you're the one getting tossed around, letting centuries old ideologies shape your thoughts and opinions. Can you really not think for yourself? Form your own opinion on Muggle-borns?" Her eyes continued to narrow into slits as she spoke, glaring daggers at the unnamed girl, "You truly are pathetic,"
The anger was steadily rising in Adelaide, bubbling in the pit of her stomach to the point were it was uncomfortable. How could people still believe in blood supremacy? Blood status had absolutely nothing to do with intelligence, in fact Adelaide could almost bet there was a vast number of Pure-bloods who had the intelligence of a goldfish yet thought themselves better than everyone. This Slytherin girl was a prime example of that.
The blonde turned to look at the other Ravenclaw, her gaze softening as it fell upon her. Adelaide couldn't help but smirk as the Muggle-born stood up for herself, "You're exactly right," she nodded in agreement, "and you wanna know something? You're probably way better than her," she gestured towards the Slytherin, "in most subjects. Blood status definitely doesn't equal intelligence. I'm Adelaide Barlowe, by the way, and you are?" She aimed the question at the other Ravenclaw girl, though the Slytherin was still in earshot and could definitely hear her, even if Adelaide was pointedly ignoring her.

Clair looked at the girl in surprise, she was a pureblood? Well if she really was, which she had just said she was then that meant she was one of the few good ones out there, so now she could say she had met both kinds of them.
Clair nodded "Yes I agree, and if I'm going to be honest, which I will be, Muggle borns are almost better then Purebloods and half blood, school wise, because if we would like to know such simple info that Purebloods would just know, we must research it, and that is much more work then just knowing." She smiled at the girl who had just said her name was @Adelaide Barlowe,
"I'm Clair Fernandez." She greeted, Like Adelaide Clair was also ignoring the other girl who had not yet interduced herself, it made no matter to Clair if she knew that girls name or not, she knew that girls face, and she doubted she would forget it soon.
Turning back to The unnamed girl Clair gave her a look, "I would have gladly been your friend, if you had not tainted your face, for now I see you as a green sludge ball, and It would take a lot of work for you to ever be liked by me." She turned away again, and looked at Adelaide, this was a person she would be willing to talk to.
