The fast walk through the corridors was emblazoned in Edme's mind in bright red ink. Speed-walking to Botany, rushing to get to the dormitory, in need to go to the bathroom. This time was just the same, as she was on her way to the Great Hall after getting a bit side tracked in reading the best book about mutant fairies and weird bugs and- well, she had gotten a little distracted.

The quick thump of her boots on the stone bricks below echoed off the walls and seemed to shake the flames that burned brightly on their respective torches. The suits of armor stood dormant, lining the walls.

They could feel the time slowly ticking, and dinner wouldn't stay warm forev- well, yes it probably would at Hogwarts, but sill. She had fit into a signature outfit, caramel-colored turtleneck with doc martens and a pair of worn jeans. Their hair was especially unkempt today, a mess of stray hairs falling into her face. They were in serious need of a haircut, and it was quite obvious.

She fixed the sweater as it bunched around their waist, soft wool roughly smooth beneath their fingers. Rounding a sharp corner, the one thing she hadn't exactly anticipated happened as quick as lightening.

It was true, Vienna had a few quite strange belongings. The girl was a bit of... a hoarder, of sorts. Collecting all sorts of items, from small rocks that she claimed were shaped like dragons to stray buttons she'd find in the hallways. But nothing too weird. Not as weird as this.

To be fair, this didn't really count as one of her possesions. More like a... creation. And that creation had a purpose too. A war. Her stupid brother/cousin had thought it would be an amazing idea to put a balloon full of ink in her backpack. Funny from the attacker's perspective? Yeah, kinda. Kind of genius? Okay, she had to admit. She had learned all her finest tricks from him anyways. Fun for Vienna? No. Definitely not.

So today, she was taking revenge. She strutted down the hallways in both anger and pride of her genius idea of a prank, a small pouch in the pocket of her colorful, patterned jacket. As she eagerly speed-walked towards the Great Hall, ready to execute her plan. Though her excitement and eagerness may have gotten the best of her.

Vienna barely rounded the corner when she felt herself collide with something. She stumbled back, tripping on the untied shoelace of her sneakers. She really should've tied her shoelaces. Luckily, she didn't have to regret her choices as much, as she was able to catch herself before anything bad happened. She whipped forward in an attempt to steady herself, shakily standing back up as she rubbed her neck, sore from the whiplash.

Her eyes met a fellow student, who looked about her age. "Argh, er, crap-" she stuttered as she attempted to think of something to say. "So sorry, wasn't looking. I- I better be off, I'm in a hurry and- you're probably quite busy too," she rambled on. She usually didn't take responsibility for things so easily, but she was in too much of a hurry to start a whole argument about it.

"Right, er, sorry. Leaving- leaving now," she stopped her rambling, speeding off. However, something had slipped from her a pocket. Something important. The pouch in her pocket that contained her genius idea just so happened to fall out, right on the ground behind her. The girl hadn't had time to look back, and in the proccess, left it behind.

To anybody curious enough to look, the pouch had contained dozens of gummy maggots, her brother's worst fear. Excluding the gummy part. Just maggots, but Vienna knew it would freak him out anyway. She had planned to place it into his food, but there was no hopes of fulfilling her plan now. Was there?

Edme rubbed her sore head, hoping there wasn't a bruise forming on her forehead. The biggest bruise they had ever gotten was four years ago after she fell off the monkey bars at a tacky playground. It wasn't fun.

The first thing she saw was a pair of untied sneakers. The next was an unfamiliar face, apologetic as she spurted out a quick apology to Edme, clearly in quite the hurry considering the haste of it. Edme stood with her, brushing off any dust that may have collected on their sweater from the ground below. "Oh, uh, it's no worries."

As the other began on her way, the Ravenclaw caught sight of something... peculiar. It was a pouch, standard to have tucked away into your pocket, but the contents of it had been revealed to Edme as the strange things they were. Maggots. Lots of them. Lots and lots of maggots.

Hesitantly, they grabbed the pouch off the ground, tightening the fastening and trying not to look at the gross things inside. The other girl had rushed off far too quickly, leaving behind the pouch for anyone to find and use with as they please. Speaking of its uses, what did the girl need with a pouch full of maggots?

Pushing aside the questions, Edme hurried off after the other, the pouch held at a safe distance from them. Boots clunking on the ground below, she hoped it wouldn't drown out their Scottish accent that pierced through the air as she tried to speak up, "Hey! You dropped this!"

She quickened her gait and sped towards the other, trying not to make too much of a fuss over the predicament.

The young Slytherin girl offered a soft smile, letting out a sigh of relief as the person she had bumped into accepted her apology. She exhaled, continuing on her way without even bothering to look back, nor tie her shoelace. As she walked, she stuck her hand in the pocket of her jacket, hand searching for her valued pouch. But as her hand dug through the clothy fabric, she found her search fruitless. Her breath hitched, her head whipping backward as she realized she had dropped it.

As she looked back, her suspicions were unfortunately confirmed by the sight of the other girl rushing towards her, the exact pouch Vienna's hand had been searching for clutched tightly in their hand. Vienna let out a sigh of relief, pausing as she waited for the Ravenclaw to run catch up to her.

"Oh! Oh my goodness, thank you," she said with relief as she took the pouch from her. "Thanks, and sorry again," she said quickly, about to take off again. Just as she was about to leave, a sudden thought pierced through her mind. There was a chance, a small chance, that the girl had seen the contents of the pouch. She let out a light gasp.

"I-" she began with a stutter. If they really had seen the insides of the bag, it would be quite an awkward thing to explain. Well, her justification was completely acceptable, if you really understood what was going on. But again, it would be kind of awkward to get into the details. "You didn't happen to... see what was inside it, did you?"

As Vienna waited for a response, she attempted to reanalyze the girl's actions. As they were walking towards her, she seemed to be holding the pouch... oddly, in a sense. They seemed to be holding it a good distance away from herself, as if something disgusting or hazardous was in the pouch. Something like a handful of wriggling maggots.

Vienna groaned. Oh merlin, she probably did see it, didn't they? "I- um. I'm just asking, it's not like, anything important or weird in there or anything," she added quickly. From personal experience, she found that being asked about something made one more curious about it. She smiled awkwardly at the other girl, hoping a bit of friendliness would help justify her strange possessions, if the girl did actually see it, of course.

Edme soon realized it was easier to call out the others name than to confront them about losing such a curiosity. As the pouch was taken from their grasp, she tried a small smile of second-handed relief.

"Of course, it's no problem." she reassured, hands still feeling the weight of the strange item. They noticed the visibly untied shoe that Vienna seemed to carry either unnoticed or as a style choice. Either, the Ravenclaw pointed it out, "Oh- your shoe is untied."

In a moment, the other seemed to grow... paler? And if it wasn't that, it was the gasp she let out quite suddenly. It wasn't a surprised when she popped a question about whether or not Edme had seen the contents of the pouch or not, to which Edme felt her face grow a bit red.

They were silent for a small moment, maybe a little too long as Vienna tried to explain that it wasn't weird or important. Important maybe not, but weird? Edme would say that it was a bit strange to go carrying around maggots in a pouch. But she wouldn't say that, obviously.

"Uh..." they froze a moment, thinking over her next words, "Yeah, I did. I didn't mean to snoop, it just kind of fell open." they appreciated the warmth the other shared, but it didn't seem much could revive this conversations already quite awkward air. The tension was so thick you could probably cut it wih a knife. "But- I mean, I'm not judging you! I mean, I'm sure you have reason, it's not creepy or anything."

Edme realized pretty quickly that her words were probably not helping, and shut up while waiting for the other to speak. After a certain event, the Ravenclaw had taken to trying to keep it on the less chatty side so as to avoid any kind of miscommunication. Which was, unsurprisingly, pretty common for her.
