Continued from this thread.
He followed a half-step behind Hitoshi-senpai to the Dueling Club, ignoring Narumi as they went. It was early Sunday morning. The Mahoutokoro students had set out early from their cabin in the Campgrounds, and finished breakfast quickly in a mostly-empty Great Hall. The grounds and halls of Hogwarts were quiet and tranquil in the early weekend mornings, and that was when Akira liked the school best. Gone was the chaos in the hallways, as students shoved against each other and yelled above the din after class. Absent were the ghosts who floated through the halls, playing pranks on unsuspecting students below. In a way, the tranquility reminded him of Mahoutokoro, and perhaps that was why he liked these quiet mornings.
Indeed, Hogwarts was a zoo more than a real school; it somehow made the students upon its grounds act like animals. And that was precisely why they were here, in the Dueling Club.
Chikao Narumi had overstepped his bounds, and retribution was in order.
As Akira entered the Hogwarts Dueling Club, a smirk tugged at his lips. It was a familiar scene for the young duelist -- one that filled his veins with adrenaline: The elevated piste, elegant and demanding respect in the center of the elongated room, welcoming duelists to battles of courage, wit, and skill; the blackened mannequins on the edges of the room, a symbol of steadfastness in the face of destruction, stricken over and over again by the arcane power of dedicated athletes during rigorous practice sessions. The very room commanded a sense of reverence from the young boy: How many duelists were knocked unconscious here? How many souls have had their determination crushed, their confidence wiped? But, on the flipside, how many fewer had prevailed, earning honor for their name and glory for their team?
Wordlessly, he climbed the stairs to one side of the platform. Once Narumi and Hitoshi-senpai had taken their places, he spoke. "Narumi-san, I'm looking forward to this duel. May the better competitor win. Best of luck to you." Perhaps the other boy might need it.
He bowed low towards his opponent. A second later, he straightened, wand pointed, sparks flashing. Let the battle begin.

The halls of Hogwarts had become more tranquil than Chikao was expecting. It was calm and quiet with little to no sounds besides the echoes of footsteps leading towards the Dueling Club. To Chikao, Hogwarts was rather loud but that was because students wanted to be loud; now the halls were much too quiet in his opinion. Chikao would have loved to have just hummed or even whistled a slight song of his that he had been working on, but he knew that seemed rather risky to be done around just Hitoshi-senpai and Shimizu-san.RP as: Chikao Narumi

With his posture slouching and hair still in a mess. Despite the circumstances he was under, Chikao appeared like he wasn't going to take this duel seriously. Whether it was at Mahoutokoro or Hogwarts, Chikao was going to act the way he always has been. He would only show respect to those who he wanted to show it to, and as far as he knew, only Shamsi-san and Ohashi-chan had earned such a right. Although, he sometimes wondered if he'd be daring enough to act this way around the headmistress of Mahoutokoro, Sato Yura. Either way, even if his life was on the line Chikao wouldn't act seriously just yet.
Upon entering the room that will conduct the duel between Chikao and Shimizu-san, it was rather grand in Chikao's opinion. He himself was caught in a bit of a daze and gave a cheeky smile as he witnessed around him the very grandness of this room. Chikao wasn't the best when it came to dueling, but he was always up for one if ever asked. He never expected himself to win, and most students back at Mahoutokoro knew Chikao was more physical appt than magical wise despite being a pureblood. If he was given the option to fight with his fist, he wouldn't do so straight away as that would end the duel too soon and take all the fun out of it.
Taking his position and facing his opponent, Chikao was surprised he was able to get this far without making a rude/funny joke. What surprised him more was Shimizu-san's comment of wishing him luck. Chikao grew a joyful grin and was glad to know Shimizu-san was just as excited to have this duel. Soon a quick thought came to Chikao's mind before they took their bows, "Actually, that reminds me. Everyone use to gossip about which one of us was the best when we wore navy blue together, right? It seems about time we finally know the answer to that. Best of luck Akira." Chikao took his bow and wondered why he called Shimizu-san by his first name. It had been a while since Chikao last called Akira by his first name, and it had been a while since Akira called Chikao by his first name as well. Chikao knew why he did it; it had to do with a dream of his that he had the night he declared this duel:
Chikao's Dream
Reducio
Dancing upon a mountain, Chikao was alone in a grassy field by himself wearing his colorful lavender robe. His movements became free and joyful as if matching with the movements of the wind. There was little to anything on his mind, and all he could do was be happy in his movements. Eventually, he finished in dance and fell to the ground sitting in an almost meditative pose. Controlling his breathing, he felt like he could dance for hours on end if he wanted.[To make sense of this dream and prevent confusion, "Present Chikao" will be speaking in a pink text while "Past Chikao" will be in blue text. Everything said in this dream is in Japanese]
Soon, another figure approached Chikao, and Chikao looked up without any change in his expression. As if expecting to be greeted by this figure, Chikao smiled and spoke in familiarity as if greeting an old friend, "Hello Old Friend, I was hoping we'd get to speak tonight. I am planning on dueling with our old friend Shimizu-san in the morning. I am unsure if I can do this without you by my side."
This figure turned towards Chikao, and it was clearly revealed to be Chikao himself. But despite this figure having an exact look of Chikao, its expression was more stone-cold and furious while also wearing a very deep shade of a navy blue robe. This figure was Chikao's past self, a past that still lives within him that he wishes he could forget. The figure looked at Chikao and spoke in a deep brooding tone. The two began to have a discussion with Chikao keeping a mellow kind tone, while the figure of his past self kept the displeasing tone. In some moments the figure's voice would rise in anger and volume, but Chikao's would always stay mellow and tranquil:
"You foolish idiot, give me one good reason as to why I should help you defeat Akira in this duel. If anything, his winning will help remind you of your ways."
"Don't think about ourselves for once, think of the others if you will. Shamsi-san and Ohashi-san will be punished for our foolish lie."
"Our foolish lie? This idea was yours and yours alone, do not try and clump me with your disgraceful actions. Even performing dogeza for a mere lie, how I pity and despise you."
"Then what if we let Shimizu-san win? We will lose the respect of many, and our honor would be lost to the wind. We would have little to no chance of ever recovering that. If anything, this loss will hurt your ego and you will cease to exist"
"Little chance? Do you not recall what we once were?! What I still am?! We can recover more than just honor, we can become more than what we were and what we are. If Akira wins, then it is not I who will fade, but it will be you after the vigorous punishment he puts us through."
"Then forget our honor, and forget those around us. We can't achieve anything if we can't agree to focus on this very moment. Like Yin and Yang, we need to be one in order to learn and grow. Nothing will change of who we are if all we do is argue. For our future, I request your help."
The figure thought for a second, and groaned, "I never took myself to be a Taoist. How far I have fallen. Very well, I will help you in your duel with Akira for a better future upon ourselves."
From that dream, Chikao's mind was now one, but the purpose/future he sought was still cloudy. Was he doing this duel for his friend Shamsi-san? Was he trying to rekindle a connection with his old friend Shimizu-san? Perhaps it was to get back at Hitoshi-senpai or even try to impress Ohashi-chan and Kobayashi-chan. Chikao himself wasn't sure, but he would at least know he had fun trying his best at every single reason.
Lifting his head from a well-deserved bow to Shimizu-san, Chikao was more than ready with his wand lifted.

Hadashi Hitoshi
Outfit: Navy robes.
Hadashi entered Hogwarts' Dueling Club room with mixed feelings. He had certainly been looking forward to seeing it, but... he did not think it would be for the reason he was there today.
He thought that perhaps he would find it himself, and marvel at it in solitude, going across to look at every detail... Instead, he was to supervise a duel between two of his underclassmen. Akira Shimizu, and Chikao Narumi.
If Hadashi were a betting man, and he was NOT. But if he was, he would put his money on Shimizu-kun for this one.
Upon entering, Hadashi respectfully removed his footwear, but as he despised walking about in socks (that just made them dirty) They were removed as well.
Hadashi took his spot, safely out of spells' reach as the two combatants took their places opposite each other, bowed (Hadashi would have TORN into them if one of them didn't do that), and waited for the signal.
"Hajimeru!"
(Begin!)
However, only Shimizu-kun's landed. Narumi-kun's flew way off course.
Hadashi bit down a smirk. This was the strategic plays of dueling he loved so much. Debilitate your opponent first, then run right over them. Though he was sure that Flipendo from Narumi would have hurt a good bit if it landed...
Hadashi tried to hide his eagerness for what the next spells would be. What would Narumi do in this situation? And what would Shimizu do to further his lead?

When Narumi beamed whole-heartedly as Akira wished him luck, the navy-robed boy almost kicked himself and wished he could take back his words. It wouldn't do to show that boy more kindness than he was worth -- Narumi was undeserving of any well-meaning words. After all, he was the one who betrayed you, and left you to your own devices, the darker side of him whispered into his own ear. He willingly gave up his navy robe, despite his potential, and your three years of friendship went down the drain due to his own selfishness. Akira clenched his teeth.
He remembered how the two of them would study together after class, answering each others' questions, going over the most intricate notes line by line, pushing each other to do better for each exam, and comforting each other when they scored lower than expected. Every point mattered to them, and it was by working together that they were able to score higher than some of their most cut-throat navy-robed peers who preferred to work alone at the risk of being surpassed by their classmates. How close they were to achieving gold together that one semester! But, it was not meant to last. Chikao soon slipped down to dark purple, then lavender... With each quidditch practice that his friend participated in, with each new unrelated hobby Chikao seemed to pick up, Akira felt he was losing more and more of his friend and his support.
Alone, Akira felt far more vulnerable, and he blamed it on Chikao.
With Chikao no longer among their ranks, the most cut-throat of the navy-robed students sensed it was time to take down Akira with their backhanded comments to his face and behind his back. He remembered their derisive comments, whenever he helped another student with their questions: "Why the hell is Shimizu helping a purple-robed student? Doesn't he know they should stay down there where they belong, instead of scoring better on their exams? He probably thinks he's going to be one of the purples soon; just look at what happened to his friend Narumi-kun." Then, they would laugh mockingly and make sure they were heard, so no one else would want to help lower-ranked students either, at the risk of being ridiculed.
But, their ridicule only fueled Akira to study harder. He learned to care less about making friends outside of continuing to help the occasional classmate with their questions. What good were friends for, anyway, if they could just one day decide to disappear on you when their interests changed? No, he could only trust himself.
Akira clenched his fist, feeling the nails digging into his palms, letting the dull pain remind himself of his resolve to remain self-reliant.
Then, Narumi spoke. "Actually, that reminds me. Everyone use to gossip about which one of us was the best when we wore navy blue together, right? It seems about time we finally know the answer to that. Best of luck Akira." Externally, Akira fumed. How could this boy have the nerve to allude to their past friendship, when he was the one who willingly tossed it away? And to call him 'Akira', as if they were still close. Internally, however... something about hearing the way that Narumi said his name with such familiarity made him wish -- for just a second -- that they could've gone back to being friends.
"Those days are over, Narumi-san," Akira responded coldly, instead. "The only thing we will learn after this match is that you have made a grave mistake by neglecting your studies." And me. But he shoved that thought aside and dug his nails in harder. "Maybe this duel will teach you not to put your mouth where it doesn't belong." With that, he sent Narumi into a sneezing frenzy, while deftly side-stepping a Knockback Jinx. "Keep your luck, I won't be needing it."
There we go, Akira Shimizu was back. No weakness allowed.

*Pssst* *Pssst* Narumi felt the violent sneezes from the hex already forcing strong blows of air to come out of him. "Ove- *Psst* Please, if anything this is merely a new chapter for a st- *Psst* *Psst* *Psst*," Narumi attempted to keep his calm, but a slightly frustrated look could be seen on his face. The sneezes were becoming a bit more frequent. He decided to just roll along with it: "Let's *Psst* *Psst* get one thing straigh- *Psst* here Akira. Neglecting my *Psst* studies? If anything, you know I- *Psst* am just as *Psst* *Psst* as- *Psst* -as capable of receiving just as good *Psst* of a grade as you. If anything, that *Psst* probably annoys you the most right *Psst* now. The fact that a lazy *Psst* lavender robed student like *Psst* *Psst* myself. The sneezes were really getting on Chikao's nerve, and the serious look on Akira's face reminded Narumi of the so many rivaling blue-robed students they had to deal with together. So many of them looked down or were jealous of Akira and Chikao's intellect and teamwork. The two of them truly could have gained golden robes and gained the respect of everyone in Mahoutokoro in another life, but not now. Chikao chose his path of living free and to not be judged by the color of his robes, but by his own will. When he chose this path, he recalls him and Akira beginning to go down separate paths.
As Chikao's robes swiftly flowed from dark blue, to purple, and now lavender; he knew he couldn't be around Akira. Chikao respected Akira more than anyone because Akira's will and goals were clear. Chikao had a strong will, but he never understood what his goal was. He never really felt real accomplishment in completing his work or being congratulated on reaching blue robes. The talk of becoming gold didn't really seem that appealing to him. He didn't want to drag Akira down with him. Soon, the looks of disgust and rumors began to spread around Mahoutokoro for Chikao's actions, he finally understood how terrible the robes at Mahoutokoro could be. Those who respected Chikao, and who he once called friends, all left him. His teachers no longer welcomed him with a bright warm smile. Worst of all, he couldn't reach out to Akira for help. Chikao chose this path, but in the end, felt freer than he ever did. The questions to classwork were simple, and he could spend more time doing the activities he actually enjoyed.
Now though, he looked at Akira and was disappointed to see his friend's excitement quickly turn to a stern and serious look. Chikao doesn't know what Akira has been going through without him, and he felt certain to himself that Akira didn't know what he was and is currently going through either. That serious look on Akira though, it reminded him of the faces of the so many snotty navy blue-robed students who always looked down on Chikao and Akira. Chikao didn't want Akira to become one of them, but nor did he want to get in the way of his friend's dream.
"You can *Psst* call me Chikao like always Akira *Psst* it might make me go easier on *Psst*" The sneezing and Akira's face really gave Chikao a moment to think. For once, he felt like his old self a bit,
"Nuw, I'n rasaiuir" Now, I'm serious

Hadashi's face dropped. What was a duel he was building up to enjoying was starting to sour. From the dialogue being spoken between the two, Hadashi could tell this was far from just about the punishments.
Truth be told, Hadashi knew about Chikao and Akira's past friendship. And how they had a falling out.
While he always had, and always would deny it, Hadashi had eyes all over Mahoutokoro. He made adamantly sure that this information network gave him no advantage in duels, nor in grades. He would earn his victory in both, or accept defeat otherwise.
But it did give him information he needed to instantly put down any plans to cause trouble.
For clarification, he did not ask to know of someone wearing something out of code, or bringing in Manga to class. None of that was anything he even remotely cared about. But, he had thoroughly crushed plans for a mass food fight more than once.
Hadashi did not know WHY Chikao had decided to stop bettering himself to have a life of sloth and laziness; that seemed to be a matter wholly private to all but himself. But he had mixed views on the entire thing.
On one hand, Hadashi wanted desperately to help them rekindle their friendship. Nothing in the world hurt Hadashi more than seeing real friendships dissolve. Especially when it could be fixed or avoided.
But on the other hand, this well and truly was none of his business, and he would seem rather creepy and controlling, butting in to a private matter.
Hadashi's fists clenched. He HATED being unable to do anything to help. He was, at least in his opinion, one of the greatest strategists in Mahoutokoro. Surely he could think of SOMETHING...
And then it hit him. A smirk played across his face as the whole thing started coming together.
Yes. Yes, that would do nicely.

Chikao chuckled at first in a lower tone, and an aggressive tone came with his giant words. He was about to call Akira small and that Chikao himself was going to crush him; a saying many giants said to Chikao and his father. However, his chuckling smile vanished as a large furry of sneezes came out of him. Still using a changed tone, the squirt bottle sound was closer to a grunt or grumble. Chikao, still feeling the flurry of sneezes coming through his nose and lungs, looked frustrated by the fact that the sneezing was what was causing him to miss. Chikao was articulate in multiple languages, thus he wasn't expecting to mispronounce his spells even with the unanticipated sneezes. His aim was a different story. A quick jerk of his hands with each sneeze misdirecting each shot. Similar to shots to that of a newborn duelist, Chikao was frustrated with the fact he hadn't landed a shot on Akira yet.
"Sdairr freirrailr waidh *Prrd* irruis lluun, Acaise? Teca dhair niar rasaiuirrirr *Prrd*. Arru, rduf raiyailr na dhed nenl *Prrd* ruuc. Do you think you're better than *Psst* me Akira? I'll admit your skills are better *Psst* than mine, but I'm more stubborn the last time *Psst* I recalled.
Chikao didn't always realize or notice when he switched from Japanese to giant or vice versa; especially when he was feeling emotional. He was angry at Akira for the sneezes and the fact that he too felt abandoned by his friend; however, he was also upset in the thought that perhaps there was more to missing these past two shots. Chikao never really fought anyone, especially friends, in an angry mood.
During quidditch practices, he would throw friendly punches and beat bludgers at Shamsi-san for fun while Samshi-san dodged most if not all of them. These acts were always in a good mood, and he rarely intended to hurt anyone in physical or magical duels without first making sure he was emotionally stable to do so. Akira was difficult to hit and a tough opponent, Chikao knew that. If anything, this battle was reminding him slightly of the duels they fought together. Chikao was physical strength while Akira was magical power, few to any students stood a chance against them in any sort of duel.
""Yui faddas fa raiyailr aid irruis err Acaise."
"You better be giving it your all Akira"
Slight anger could be heard in Chikao's voice. It had been a long time since he last called Akira, Acaise. It was how Chikao pronounced Akira's name in giant, but the name felt bitter in his mouth to say. It had been a while since Chikao felt serious, it had been a while since he felt angry and cared a lot to win. Akira and this duel, were they bringing out the most of Chikao's old self?

Akira's expression darkened the more Narumi talked. Even with those somewhat comical sneezes, he sure knew how to make those words sting. In truth, Akira did know that Narumi -- despite the ordinary color of his robes -- had an intelligent mind on his shoulders. Not that Akira would ever admit it today, but his former friend was likely even more gifted than Akira himself.
He would refuse to respond to Narumi's taunts. It wouldn't do to get distracted this early into the duel.
However, even Akira had his limits. "You can *Psst* call me Chikao like always Akira *Psst* it might make me go easier on *Psst*" As Narumi uttered these words, Akira narrowed his eyes at the insolent boy. "I don't need you to go easy on me, so shut that mouth of yours, Chikao!" he spat, before uttering the incantation of a powerful Knockback Jinx and drawing a hook shape with his wand. Only too late did his concentration waver, as he realized that he had unconsciously called Narumi by his given name out of habit. The sparks at the end of his wand sputtered and fizzled out. Akira watched the failed spell, aghast. He hardly ever failed his spells, yet here he was, in front of his former friend and Hitoshi-senpai, of all people. His only redemption seemed to be the fact that the Jinx did not backfire on him. No, he was much too careful for a blunder of that scale. He glanced up to shoot daggers at Narumi -- he sure seemed to know where to push Akira's buttons.
Nevertheless, he was able to recover quickly enough to evade the Dancing Feet Spell aimed in his direction. In fact, the aim wasn't so good on that one. "Narumi-san, that was a well-cast spell. But, are you having second thoughts about hitting me, now?" he taunted. Two can play at these mind games, if that's what Narumi was going for. Akira didn't suppose that was the reason why Narumi missed -- after all, that boy obviously didn't give a damn about whether Akira lived or died -- but it sure made for a good prodding.
He wondered for a moment why he was having trouble understanding Narumi, before it occurred to him that his opponent was speaking Giant. As it were, he remembered that Narumi often reverted to Giant when he was emotional; the boy was so multi-lingual that it was difficult for his mind to distinguish the fact that he was speaking in a different language.
However, even though Akira couldn't understand his words, Narumi's intentions were written all over his face and body language. He also caught the way that his given name was uttered in Giant. "My, my, you're taking this seriously now, aren't you? Well, why don't you show me what you can do, then? I swear, you used to be better than this," he chided, whether or not there was actually much of a distinguishable difference from when they dueled in the past. "So, was it really worth it to slack on your studies if your casting is now terrible? If you practiced your wand-work more and joined dueling, you might even be able to beat me. But alas." He left the implication hanging in the air. With that, he flashed Narumi a smirk before readying his wand for his next action.

Hadashi Hitoshi
Appearance:
Outfit: Navy Robes
Hadashi was well and truly starting to worry that this would devolve further. He didn't want this making everything worse before he could enact his plan. They appeared to be taking it seriously, now. No surprise for Shimizu-kun. Not at all. But for Narumi-kun to be taking ANYTHING seriously of late was a surprise. Maybe, after the friendship is mended, Hadashi or Shimizu-kun may be able to coax him back into trying harder.
To Hadashi's minor annoyance, Narumi began speaking in Giant. How was he supposed to gauge his words if he couldn't understand them?
Shimizu began taunting Narumi himself, likely a rebuttal to previous taunts. And... to be fair.... he sounded like a rival right out of an anime. And even went as far as saying that Chikao's difficulties in the duel were from his lack of studying, and not joining the Deuling Club.
Perhaps... not entirely unfounded. Good study habits led to good duelists. Shimizu-kun and Hadashi himself were living proof of that.
He supposed he COULD hold out hope that this duel would allow them to work out their problems, and maybe even rebuild the respect and friendship they had.
Hadashi, naturally, had no idea of any rumors and jeers about Narumi, as he thought such news beneath him.
Had he known, however, he would have swiftly brought the hammer down. Hadashi DESPISED people who talked like that.
But he couldnt understand Giant, so he still didnt know. Welp.

It took a minute but based on Akira's expression, Chikao could tell something wasn't exactly right. He took a sec to eventually realize he was talking in giant again and hadn't known it till now. He grumbled a little, but to his quick delight realized the sneezes had vanished. No more uncontrolled furies of his diaphragm going out of control. Also, he took notice and gave a slight smirk to hear Akira say his name like they always did. Now Chikao felt like celebrating, and he knew just the best way to do so, "Oi, Akira! Finally said my name I see. You even cared enough to not cast a spell at me? Your too much my friend. You probably didn't hear me in giant, but I want you to take this seriously. Especially now that I've stopped sneezing." Chikao gave out a fun smile and chuckle, glad to know his old friend still held some resemblance of his sort of old self. "Of course, it was worth doing! Slacking on my studies is how one can celebrate, you should try doing it too. Also, taking this seriously? Nah, that was just an act to get you to say my name for once. You've already walked into the palm of my hand Akira"95% HP: 950/1000
Evasion: 0
Strength: 10
Wisdom: 7 (+10%, Comprehend Language)
ArcPower: 1
Accuracy: 7
Status: On Fire -20dmg for [2 rounds]
Chikao then lifted his wand at Akira prepared to cast the dancing feet spell, but after pronunciation and moving his arm in the correct movements he could feel one last large sneeze coming straight to him from underneath. Creeping and having waited for either the best or worst timing possible, Chikao let out an intense "Achoo!" that echoed and caused his whole body to stumble. With that, the direction of his spell completely went off course and ended up hitting the worst (or best) candidate possible, Hadashi Hitoshi.
Chikao wiped his eyes a bit as they stung a little after his sneeze, and what he saw he couldn't quite believe. Hitoshi-senpai's legs and movements were rather out-of-whack and completely uncontrollable. The very sight of his senpai, the oh-so-great Hitoshi-senpai to be dancing right in front of him made Chikao stand gasped by utter sight. He knew his life was over at that point, Chikao could already hear one of the seven angel trumpets beginning to play. A sign that Chikao will be left on Earth to experience hell from Hitoshi-senpai's wrath. He could already feel the metaphorical fire beginning to burn his robes. No wait, that was an actual fire that Chikao hadn't noticed. If anything, it barely stung and he didn't feel the need to deal with it.
Then, Chikao couldn't help but burst into immediate laughter, almost falling down if he had laughed any harder, "Kekekeke! My lungs hurt from all that sneezing, but this is really taking the breath out of me Kekekeke!" One would try to hold back their laugh, but Chikao believed that laughter was one of life's greatest gifts and shouldn't be held back for any reason. Chikao then began to try and imitate Hitoshi-senpai's legs movements, completely ignoring Akira and their duel for a quick few seconds. Chikao then looked over at Akira and began to go into a quick song, "You said my name! You said my name! Old-friends brought again, you said my name! A true moment to celebrate dancing all around, Hitoshi-senpai is just as happy to hear you say my name!" Chikao then went into another laugh and soon refocused himself. Positioning his wand at Akira for his next attack with a wide smile and slight smirk, "Your serious duels are nothing more than a game Akira. Try and have some fun."
