Homework. The thing Vienna dreaded each afternoon. She could have the best day, win a million galleons or have all her dreams come true, yet her day would be ruined the moment she had to do homework. But today, there was no time to sulk. She had a lot more homework than usual, and there was no time to waste. She wasn't usually responsible, and honestly, if it was anything else, she would probably put it off until the last minute and go off to mess around, but she knew what her fate would be if she didn't get her work done. A bad grade. And probably detention. Again.

And so, Vienna wasn't exactly paying attention as she rushed down the hall, three large, heavy books in her arms. She kept her gaze forward, moving quickly and she made her way down the corridors and to the library. Her lack of attention didn't waver either once she reached the corner.

Her body was hit with pain as she stumbled backward from the force. She automatically flinched, closing her eyes. The books fell out of her arms as she landed bottom first onto the hard stone floor. Ouch.

Vienna groaned, blinking open her eyes as she rubbed her head. She brushed off her lightly scraped palms and reached over for her books. Sure, Vienna was usually a bit... narcissistic. Stubborn, arrogant. She probably would divert the blame for the incident away from herself, but she never really got snappy about it. But not today. She was not in the mood, since it had already been ruined by all the homework on her hands.

She looked up at the person she had bumped into. It was a girl, who looked about her age. "Hey! Watch it!" She snapped, a bit more aggressive than she expected. Whatever.

VIOLET DUBOIS | 1st YEAR | SLYTHERIN
A stormy look on her face, Violet strode purposefully through the halls. She shoved past a group of other students, knocking them into each other and causing them to swear at her, but she didn't bother to stop to reply. Normally, she wouldn't be this rude. Sure, she wasn't very friendly. She was a pretty mean, to be honest. But today she was in a bad mood and didn't feel like even pretending to be nice.

Earlier that day, she had received a letter from her parents, complaining about her grades. Any person with normal parents would've expected them to be happy with the Exceeds Expectations she had received on her Transfiguration essay, but no, not her parents. They had high standards - standards which left no room for anything below an Outstanding. Violet either had to get perfect grades or "fail", in her parents' eyes. Now, fuming with anger, Violet was going...who knows where? She herself had no idea where she was walking to, but she just needed to do something, anything, to let off some steam.

Lost in her thoughts about how much she hated her parents at that moment, Violet wasn't watching where she was going, and bumped right into a girl coming around the corner. Violet watched as the girl fell to the floor, her books flying out of her arms. Usually, Violet would grudgingly help the girl up. She wasn't that much of a mean person that she couldn't admit when something was her own fault. But not today. Although it wasn't this girl's fault, Violet just felt herself grow angrier at the inconvenience. Violet didn't want to be nice to her, and the girl's next words confirmed that.

"Hey, yourself! You're the one that was coming around the corner like a blundering idiot! It's not my fault." Violet did, indeed, know it was her fault, but she wanted someone to blame for all her troubles today, and this girl was the perfect someone.

Seriously? Seriously? Who did this girl think she was? Bumping into Vienna then proceeding to give her an attitude? Was she seriously blaming it on Vienna? What was she, evil? Blundering idiot? God, Vienna seriously wanted to punch her.

She got up, dusting herself off and picking up her books. She paused. Perhaps she could walk away. She had quite a bit to get done, and she had gotten into plenty enough fights and detentions for the month. But no. She was Vienna Goodwin. And she never let anything go. She inhaled, making a sour face as she took a step forward towards the girl.

"Look, I have absolutely no idea who you are, but whoever you are, you have absolutely no respect!" She blurted, pointing an accusing finger at the girl. She really couldn't be talking. She wasn't the best at respect either, but she needed something to complain about. "First of all, you cannot be talking. You weren't even looking when you crossed that corner, don't act like I'm in the wrong. That was not my fault at all. Even if I was looking, I wouldn't be able to do anything if you were romping around like a moron," she said harshly.

God, the girl hadn't even offered to help her up! What if she had been seriously hurt? Or bust her head open? And it would've been all the girl's fault. She could've died! And she didn't even offer to help? It was a bit dramatic, she admitted, but still entirely possible. "You are absolutely delusional if you think that was in any way my fault," she hissed, crossing her arms. "Arrogant jerk," she muttered, holding back the urge to throw a book at her.

She really didn't know what her goal was. To get the girl to apologize? To be entirely honest, it was a bit stupid, staying back for such a stupid reason. She really had to get going if she wanted to finish everything. Perhaps she was looking for an argument, or an excuse to get out of her work, and dragging this poor girl down with her. Oh well. She crossed her arms, frowning as she waited for the girl's response.
