Haley tried to be really optimistic, she knew what her team was capable of. She knew what she was capable of, but she also knew what the opponents were capable of. But it was no use, she could have racked her brains, let herself be eaten up by the excitement, but there was nothing else to do but carry on. Of course she tried to grab the Quaffle again and get points for Gryffindor. But this time she was not without competition, this time someone came flying who wanted to do exactly the same thing. Only this time the Quaffle was to fly through the rings of Gryffindor.

Haley tried everything, she didn't want to disappoint her team and even less herself. She had a job and yet she managed to fail it. River grabbed the Quaffle from Haley and managed to score three goals for Ravelnclaw. Haley was disappointed and mad at herself. She had never been a sore loser as a kid but this was different. Here she couldn't just overlook it because she wanted Gryffindor to win and she would have to do her part and that was exactly what she had just failed at.

But before Haley could have thought any further, because after all, the game had to go on and nothing was decided by a long shot, the next knockdown came. And this was not just a metaphor. It was really a knockdown. A knockdown that not only hurt physically, but went deeper. It all happened so quickly when Haley caught sight of Lavinia who was heading straight for her. It was too late when she realised what Lavinia, who was actually her friend, was up to. Before Haley could react in any way it was already too late and Lavinia executed her foul on Haley, who was knocked off her broom in the process.

For a brief moment it felt like everything was in slow motion, shocked she looked at Lavinia who was shouting her apologies after her, but Haley didn't even notice. Her heart was beating wildly in her chest. All she felt was fear, fear of hitting the ground hard. It was panic that made her freeze, because she had lost control and could do nothing.

Haley expected the worst, but completely to her surprise, she didn't hit the ground. No, Rafael came in time to save her. Her heart beat even more wildly, but when she realised she was safe, a relieved laugh came out of her. The kind of laugh you had when you couldn't believe it yourself. "Damn. Thanks Rafael." Were the only words she got out. Haley was still overwhelmed by what had happened and had to sort out her thoughts.

Everything was beginning to go to shit, Rafael noted with a hint of unbridled annoyance as he rounded upon his broom, his chocolate eyes meeting the absolute mess that was the ongoing Quidditch game. Gryffindor’s odds were looking quite nasty as of present, with no snitch sightings and a deficit of points to their proud name – a fact that left the young Captain on edge, more so than he’d like to admit. But he supposed discomfort were for the spectators. Now was as good of a time as any to get their act together – the question was, could they pull it off in time?

However, the Captain would have no further time to ponder such quandaries, as no sooner than his mind had begun to wander did the object of his avid attention fall into imminent peril – a flurry of movement caught the corner of his vision, and he glanced over just in time to see the metal beast that was Ravenclaw’s wayward bludger as it rammed into his fellow co-captain, sending her careening towards the grass. What an annoyance. Sighing to himself, he put himself in gear, his broom picking up a familiar whistle as he swooped under her midst, rescuing her from the sea of green below. Working his jaw, he glanced back momentarily, animosity in his gaze. “You know,” he breathed with barely- concealed annoyance, “for a Quidditch Player, you’re really shit at staying on your broom. Perhaps you should take some flying lessons?” Finding no answer to his chiding comments, he adjusted himself upon his broom, an elbow coming back to nudge his fellow captain to attention. Was she asleep or something? “Helloooo?” He drawled antagonistically. “Did that bludger hit you too hard?”

However, before he could continue his actions of harassment, his attentions were ensnared once again by another falling figure, this time in the form of a fellow chaser – shit, he hadn’t been watching. His breath catching in throat, he very abruptly changed directions, dropping in altitude for momentum and using it to arc himself to the right, sweeping Haley from the skies in the nick of time. A short exhale of relief would escape his lips, though he would show no signs of unease upon his face, the epitome of focus and preoccupation. At the sound of her thanks, he would glance backwards, a mischievous grin on his face in return. Then, his eyes gluing themselves back to the field in front of him, he would return her statement with one of his own. “Nice scores,” he would grin. “Though that seeker’s becoming quite annoying. Perhaps it’s a trait shared by all players of their caliber?” Another jab at his third passenger – oh, did he want to pick a fight.

However more he wished to say, he would silence himself after this comment, his focus instead centered upon the safe maneuvering of himself and his current charges. Their current position was vulnerable, a little too vulnerable for his taste… what was he to do in such a situation? Think, Rafael, think. He idly hoped that the answer to his innermost quandaries would come to him sooner rather than later – after all, it was only a matter of time before action struck once again, perhaps against the communal broom in this instance. It was a loss he refused to take.

When a Quaffle is being passed, users with this ability automatically get a chance to Intercept the quaffle. This does not replace their normal action for the round. This put the quaffle in your and by extension you teams' possession.

Also, if the Quaffle is dropped for any reason, you would automatically (without it taking up an action) attempt another Quafflegrab. At present there would be no mid-round way to drop a quaffle due to the order of operations, however there will be certain effects in future patches that can cause this effect.
Catch
Reducio
Able to catch two falling players on your broom when playing Quidditch. These additional caught players would be brought to the ground safely and they would be allowed to retrieve their broom and enter play again the next round. This can be done every round as the player's action if they choose to do so.

With brooms that have the feature where an additional player may be caught (such as Bluebottle) where there is a stackable chance of failure with each additional person caught, there is no stacking failure chance for players with this ability.
Perfectionist
Reducio
You have a reduced critical failure chance range by 1. In addition, you can counter up to 1 point of additional critical failure chances caused by abilities or spells (not potions). In other words, if you have an extended critical failure chance range (as is the case with certain races, the effect of certain spells or potions), this reduces that range by 1. So if you have a +2 critical failure chance range (meaning if you roll a 1,2, or a 3 you critically fail), this ability makes it a +1 critical range instead (meaning if you roll a 1 or a 2 you critically fail).

Elena had to give it to her team-mates, they knew what they were doing watching the specks of scarlet and gold zoom around this way and that mixed with the blue of Ravenclaw as the two teams battled it out for posession of the Quaffle and the elusive Snitch that seemed to be flitting about just out of sight for both Seekers. Evelynn had been robbed of her broom, courtesty of one Bludger and Elena's heart had lurched for a second then relaxed realizing their Captain had swooped in to rescue her from a most untimely fall. If the girl went down, Elena would be up to bat though she still had some qualms about flying in front of quite literally hundreds of students. Quidditch was more popular than she had thought among the student population as she stared out over the crowd.

The girl winced seeing the red ball fly through Gryffindor hoop's not once, not twice but for a grand total of three times. It was perhaps revenge for the two scores Haley had put effortessly through Ravenclaw's putting the other house in the lead. "C'mon..we got this." She muttered under her breath leaning forward resting her elbows on her knees to pay more attention closely to the match. It was still early and lot of time to make up for that lead Ravenclaw had gotten over them. It was just ten points and a goal by any of their Chasers could make that up easily as long as thing stayed as they were.

The game was becoming a blur. Some might blame that on the whir of flakes as crystalline snow danced and whizzed in and out of view, obstructing vision. In reality, it was more the fast-pace nature of the game and a sense of pressure weighing so heavily upon Evelynn's shoulders that it bowed her head and nearly doubled her over. They had to win. The integrity of their streak was at stake; and she had never known a loss. She had to win.

But there was something—some looming shadow—flitting in the background. Like a harbinger of doom that leered ever at the peripheries, never quite able to be brought into focus, Evelynn couldn't shake the feeling that this game would mark that low. She tried to shake it, tried to outrun that premature sense of defeat, streaking across the stadium with gaze frantic in search of the snitch. Yet no matter where her gaze turned, it evaded her; and all the while, her competitors honed in on her location, more than eager to fill that role of her end.

Thinking herself clever, she tried to stick to the Ravenclaw seeker. Dog her tail twigs and maybe, just maybe, the other eagles wouldn't be quite so quick on the attack, reasonable caution taken to avoid accidental friendly fire. She could barely remember the effort, however. Streaking blue... a blur of bronze... snow and wind lashing against her face... A harrowing chase across the pitch and the distinctive sound of scoring goals... Then... black.

Noise swam in her head, as though someone were speaking to her through water. Colours and light blurred in and out like twinkling stars in the dark, a hand in the void guiding her forward. Mind reeled and equilibrium danced, and flickers of images dotted in and out of existence in her mind's eye. Blotches of dreams and nightmares fighting each other for center stage, none of them to be remembered despite their efforts. Not that she was even aware of it, but she might have been happy to stay in that state of limbo, anxious thoughts and weary states finally set forcefully to rest. There would be no time for that, however.

An spark of agony would alight itself as an elbow planted itself firmly in her ribs, the strike enough to exacerbate the already existing damage from the bludger, the pain enough to pull her from the depths of her wavering unconscious state. Warmth emanated from her front. It would take her a few seconds to understand its source as a body, and a few seconds more to remember what had happened in seconds leading to the darkness.

"What.. What happened?" She asked, sounding almost drunk as she roused. Newfound consciousness sabotaged the efforts of the driver to keep her on the broom and she very nearly started toppling off one side before gravity made her reflexively snatch a hand to grab a hold of the back of a red tunic with a big emblazoned... eight.. teen...

Evelynn groaned a prolonged sigh as everything, headache, shoulder pain, and flashes of the precipitating vents all came rushing back in the same instant as her revelation that her saviour was her captain. At least she wasn't alone. No sooner than a few seconds later, they were diving all over again, Evelynn forced to lock that hand firmly on D'Spacito's shoulder while the other found purchase on the broom handle to avoid being dumped in their hell-bound race to save their newest first-string chaser.

Once the broom had levelled out, assurances were provided that the three of them were safely aboard. Only then did Evelynn take a moment to survey the pitch, breath still hitching now and then when the effort sparked a renewed ache through her torso and made her flinch. It was not looking good. Despite what should have been a competitive strategy, the birds had out-flown them at nearly every turn, and the disparity of their relative positions was only too obvious.

"We need to take back the momentum.." she murmured, mind racing to see how they could possibly turn this around. And nevermind momentum.. "And I'm almost certain Dewlight has spotted the snitch.."

But her head was still spinning, and she couldn't think. What should they do? What could they do? It was in moments like this where Evelynn had to remind herself that this was a team effort, and that regardless of how much pressure she placed upon herself to make up for any deficits in the team, she was only one person among many. She wasn't a quidditch genius. She wasn't anywhere near Towers' level of skill. She was just a girl who hadn't even managed to stay on her own broom, and at this rate, might have put the entire team in jeopardy of a loss. As she worked herself into a despair, a distant beating grew louder, its rhythm eventually pounding a deafening chorus that echoed in her skull, beating all thoughts down into silence.

As much as she hated the idea of it, she needed him in that moment. "...Captain?" She couldn't think.

Juniper stood up from the bench and cheered loudly as her teammate scored. "WOOOOHHHH!!" She sat back down on the bench, a broad smile on her face. She was watching the chasers, but she let her eyes dart around the field as she listened to what was going on. Aly and Gabby were sharing a broom, but a bludger had been knocked over to them. She winced along with the crowd as she watched the impact. But they had got in the way of the bludger hitting Syl. Best teammates ever. And cheating. Cheating was fine, there was nothing wrong with it. But when the other team cheats? "Take that!" She yelled as a penalty was called on the other team. Thennnn her team. "Oh come on! Miss red head over there was in her way!"

Her brief interaction with Marshal broken when the Gryffindor's seeker was in peril, she could not help but wince when she saw Evelynn get knocked off of her broom. It was definitely a huge risk that came with being seeker, as it seemed most Quidditch games devolved into a seeker hunting game.

"Huh?" Aurora's words broke her concentration, her blue eyes casting in her direction. "I dunno him that well, I saw him at my birthday, he seemed nice. I don't think a guy like him would be out here cheering for a girl from his house's opposing team if he wasn't into her." She elbowed her friend, flashing her a knowing grin. She still remembered Mathias holding up a sign for her at their last game. It had been so romantic. "Another girl? No way. I can scope her out for you if you want, but I doubt it. If he messes with you, I can take care of him for you."

If there was one thing Riverhad known for certain since she started looking into quidditch, it was that she was a seeker. She absolutely did not have the skill or strength necessary to play any of the other roles on a team. Or so she thought. But sometimes opportunities show themselves and you Just have to take it. So River did, and she went after the quaffle as an attempt to try out a new tactic. She doubted it would work, but hey, youth is the time to try new things, and learn from mistakes. Apparently this time there would be no mistakes to learn from. To her own surprise, River managed to score through the gryffindor hoops. Luckily they were unguarded, which she assumed made the task a lot more doable.
Not only did her quaffling attempts go well, but she was even surprised to have managed to dodge a bludger in the heat of it all. Just barely hearing the sound of the nasty thing whizzing towards her and flying out of range just in time.
Of course not all things could go right all the time. Rivers' grey eyes darted about the field in a slight panic, thinking she’d lost the snitch, but she spottet it in the corner of her eye and was right on it again. As she kept her eyes locked to the golden ball she made a quick signal to the rest that she’d spottet the snitch. After the sidetrack, she’d at least need to chase after the bloody thing again.

Getting hit with a Bludger out of nowhere was one thing.

Knowing you were about to get hit with a Bludger, to feel the sturdy iron ball crash into your body, hear the sickening crunch as it punched right through to your very bones, and not being able to dodge out of the way because if you did, it would hurt one of your teammates... well, that was quite another.

And Aly and Gabriella were not about to let one of their captains take the brunt. Seeing the Bludger from the dark-haired Gryffindor Beater hurtling on a straight course towards Sylvain, Aly dove to intercept, closing her eyes and attempting to brace for impact just at the very last possible moment.

This is going to hurt.

The Bludger struck the Ravenclaw pair atop Aly's Silver Arrow like a thunderbolt to the side, somehow managing to hit both of them at once before darting away to find its next target. Aly rolled slightly to the side, nearly unseated by the blow, but managed with what little was left of her strength to hang on to the sturdy wooden handle and keep herself and Gabriella upright.

Breathing heavily, Aly turned slightly to check on her teammate- "You all right back there, Gabby?"- before her side smarted excruciatingly and she cried out in pain. "Ah!" No doubt there were some bruised ribs on one side from that absolutely nasty Bludger hit. Aly had only been smacked with a Bludger during a match once before- ironically enough, during the game against Gryffindor the previous year- and she was determined not to end the match like she had last time with her, unconscious, falling on top of Jorah... what a time that had been.

"Okay, then," she panted to Gabby behind her, her ribs still stinging painfully, "no more turning around for me, I suppose. Where are we off to next? Other than the Hospital Wing once this match is over, of course."

Slowly noticing the slight change of morale between the two house teams. As Griseldis watched her Beater partner, Suzuki trying to aim at Syl. However, lucky for him, his own teammates who shared a broom together defended him right on time. And despite being hit, it seemed it wasn't enought to knock both of the girls from the broom. A bit unfortunate for the lions, but the game was still going on and there would always be a "next time". Then Griseldis decided to set her eyes on their Ravenclaw seeker and tried to hit a bludger at her. Again, quite unfortunate that her target was quick to evade her attack. Looks like the game is starting to get tougher, Grisleidis thought to herself.

Syl was so busy doing his job, he hardly even noticed Suzuki gunning for him. It wasn't until he surveyed their current position that Aly and Gabriella's sacrifice was noticed. "THANK YOU LADIES!" He called out from nearly across the field. Another team might not have intercepted for their captain, but this wasn't just any team, it was House Ravenclaw and they were cut from a different cloth.

Deciding that he'd definitely be visiting them in the Hospital Wing after this was over, whether he joined them on a cot or not, he zipped forward. He had become set on giving no further chances to be picked off, and resolved that he would just have to resort to adjusting their game plan on the fly. Now that he could zoom without fear of crashing? Fantastic.
