"You guys clearly have the upper hand, there is nothing to be upset about," he tried to console Aida, the girl who seemed to be having a breakdown. Alan wasn't entirely sure as to why as he hadn't gotten them in sight for the last rounds so he wasn't aware what exactly was going on, but he felt like she was expecting too much from herself and that wasn't the point of duelling, was it? It was meant to prepare and be enjoyable so what was the point if one was simply torturing themselves? "Chin up, Aida," he added and it wasn't mockingly, he meant it.

It seemed like Aida had returned to... normal? Well, she was still on fire. But otherwise was ok. Thank goodness because Willow was not a trained therapist. It seemed like the strain was getting to everyone on how long this duel was going on for. Duels usually lasted half as long. Alan finally removed his blindfold with a grand flourish and a bow Alan requested this description. Only to be hit by Aida with a knockback jinx. He was... not looking well. Phaedra took protective measures and healed the Ravenclaw pair again. Thunder continued to crackle over Alan, but he was safe this round.

Spectator Thread

Winning back a modicum of calm focus, Aida's next spell finally cast successfully and landed on target. Regardless of the number of failures she had made this match, she wanted peace of mind again. The healing spell cast by Phaedra reassured Aida that, no, Phaedra was not out to get her, too. The friendly fire must have been a mistake, just like Aida had made mistakes.

Alan, removing his blindfold, then started speaking to Aida. There is nothing to be upset about, he says?, thought Aida. Maybe his world is rosy, and he can't see that other people have problems and reasons to be upset. It is okay that he doesn't understand. I don't need for him to understand or like me.

Looking at Alan in the eyes, Aida tried to find words for him, but couldn't. She couldn't muster up a laugh or anything else, so she just stared back coolly, like a cat looking at a human. Cats didn't have to smile at people or say the right response. Aida would rather have been a cat. Growing tired, Aida wanted to just go back to her special cot in the Room of Requirement. She would have liked to make friends this match, but after everything that happened... that didn't seem a likely outcome.

The fifth year could see, the blindfold was now finally off and Alan could see again. It still however was not looking great for him and he was not sure how this would ever turn out for him. Though the fact he was able to see at least somewhat gave him an ounce of a chance. Perhaps it was not too late yet to turn this around?

It was all just a guessing game at this point. Would he summon a shield? Would he not? She despised the game he was playing, but sometimes it was best to not play along. Instead, while Aida landed a much needed hit on Alan, Phaedra made sure to soothe the fire that was creeping up the wix’s robes. They were stronger together, even if the Gryffindor was seemingly on his last legs and so very stubborn to just call it quits.

It was almost too good to be true, Willow almost didn't notice what happened.

Alan was purely working on the defensive, healing himself once more. Phaedra did the same for herself and her teammate who was on fire (well, not for long as the fire finally sizzled out). Lightning continued to crackle above Alan's head but it seemed to refuse to strike.

Aida had the honor of getting the final hit on the Gryffindor that seemed to refuse to fall. Her knockback jinx soared through the air and was able to finally, finally knock him down. Alan fell to the ground with a resounding thud, bringing Willow out of her Transfiguration essay writing trance. Her head snapped up, and her body quickly followed, popping up from her sitting position. "Stop! Stop the duel, Alan is down." Finally with a deep breath, she grinned wide despite her friend being unconscious. "Ravenclaw is victorious! Congratulations you two~" She helped Alan off the piste and followed him to the Hospital Wing since she... still had his cat.
