Option 1) Seek and Book
Hanako Tone is a vice founder of the A.S.P and one of the very few members who does not intend to hide their parselmouth ability. Perhaps your character has heard of them through mindless gossip, or you have heard them having conversations with a snake about the weather. Either way, this may be the easiest way for your character to get into the club.

There are no tests or missions you need to pass in order to get in. Your character simply needs to meet with Hanako and ask what you are looking for in parseltongue. Make sure no one is following you. Preferably, come alone.

If you don’t wish to reveal your own identity to us, please send in a human messenger or a pet snake (if you are a 3rd year or older). Hanako will keep in touch with you and your initiation will be planned. You are given 5 days to get ready before your real test begins. For those who wish to keep their identities hidden, please wear a cloak and a random mask. Enough to conceal your identity.

Alternatively, your character can mention the existence of Geraldine (whose exaggerated rumor may paint them to seem like a Parselmouth like your character). They may put two and two together and join.


Option 2) Fall and Gain
The most physically draining of available options. But perhaps the most memorable . As the club values secrecy, sometimes we like to put extra...precautions. 3 Traps are constantly set up and taken down randomly so there is no way of knowing if you will fall into them or not. Unless you actually plan to then this option is perfect for you.

Doesn’t matter if this is your first time in the chamber or not. The A.S.P likes to move in secret and there is a big chance you will miss them during one of your trips in the chamber. Once you’ve triggered all the traps, if you have a certain reputation you would like to keep then it’s best you stay down there until an a.s.p member comes by and catches you dunked in flour or something. Depending on your luck, you may have less or more possibilities of getting immobilized by the member who found you. Some may offer you a tea party and help you clean up while others are more concerned if you should even be here. ( You can choose who finds you and more details will be given if you choose this option )

Option 3) Stumble and Greet
The most normal one of them all. Fortunately for you, there are no traps set up today so you choose to spend your day in the chamber. However, is it also a day where the a.s.p might already be having an activity together. An activity that you just barged into. Details may differ. Perhaps they are having a tea party or cleaning duty is going on. Either way, like the previous option, the outcome will be different depending on who you want to discover your character in the chamber. Some may tie you up to a chair and others will share you delicious biscuits. ( You can choose who finds you and more details will be given if you choose this option )

Option 1) My Friend is in there so I’m in there
Your character is already friends with one of the a.s.p members. This will help your chances in entering the club since a valued a.s.p member trusts you enough to share this secret with you.Your character may be the kind to seek the benefits of joining the A.S.P. Tempted by an opportunity to spy on others stealthily or have a group of snake charmers to back you up, your character is brave or stupid enough to ask permission to join. They may be curious and eager to learn how to speak parselmouth. Whatever reason you have, it’ll be easy to enter if you have a friend in the A.S.P

Option 2) Kinda Illegal But Okay
Your character is kidnapped, trapped against their will in the Chamber of Secrets, traumatized, all by a single Parselmouth you might have pissed off. Since an accident such as this happened before, the A.S.P has taken extra rules to ensure this does not happen so easily.

The Parselmouth who brought you in is automatically signed to you as your Parselmouth. You, unwillingly become a part of the A.S.P. But you are less trusted than the rest, understandably so. Several rules are bent for you to keep you happy. You are heavily encouraged not to reveal the about this club. While it seems like your character has more power, be aware that if pushed too far, Parselmouths may physically retaliate

𝟚 ) Choose a 2nd & Codename

How it works IC
Not only will you be given a codename, but you'll also be gifted with what we liked to call a '2nd name'.

The name that you used when registering to Hogwarts io does not exist within this club. If found that you have been using it way too freely, you will be asked to stop or better yet- punished. This club values secrecy very much so using your real name while you're in the club is highly disrespectful and we all advise your character to do so.

The difference between your codename and your 2nd name is the amount of respect you wish to show. Code Names for baby snakes can be anything. SuperSonic/Rose Thorn/HermesBoots etc. They are used commonly and it's how the characters would mainly address them. 2nd names on the other hand are much more sacred to one's character.

Inspired by East Asian culture where first names are only given to super close friends/family. Addressing a member as their 2nd name would either mean you two are extremely close- or that you lack mutual respect towards them. A member's 2nd name should generally be kept as a big secret.

Your character will not be given the chance to pick their own codename/2nd name. The name given to your character is default and can never be changed. They will 'receive' their names from the founders after they have stayed in the club for a whole year and prove their worth.

How it works OOC
That’s only IC, but for OOC rest assured you will be given much more freedom in choosing their codenames/2nd names.

However, there is a certain rule you must follow and extra things to consider when it comes to codenames and 2nd names. There is only 2 codename/2nd name styles you follow:

1)A snake breed codename + a snake breed scientific name

Choosing this will mean your characters codename is named after a snake breed (can be anything, as long as it isnt already choosen by another member). After choosing the snake breed of your choice, whatever their scientific name is, that will be your character's second name.

chosen snake breed= Ball Pied Python = codename
scientific name = Boa Regia = 2nd name

2) Random codename + randomized scientific name

Choosing this will mean your character is not bound to a specific snake breed. Instead, you 'ooc' is able to pick whatever codename you want your character to have. However, your 2nd name relies on a scientific name generator. This one. The way it works is that a founder would randomize the generator, and give you 5 scientific names given. However, if you do not like your choices, you can ask for another 10 scientific names. In total, you would have 15 randomly generated scientific names to choose from that can be your character's 2nd name.

Mask is an essential part of a club that values secrecy. During meetings, it's mandatory to wear a mask, whether you want to or not. It's improper to take your masks off, as that will defeat the purpose of keeping your identity a secret. However, if your character does not mind, they are free to take off their maks.

Default Mask:

The default mask is the mask given to every new member. It's white in color (unless stained by your messy character) blank, without a pattern in sight. It was meant to appear like a snake-like head, revealing only the color of the eyes of your character.

Your character will not be able to paint their masks until they have spent a whole school year in the club. They must not cause mischief, show a lack of loyalty, share a.s.p secrets within that time. Until then, they are considered 'fresh meat'. Whom worth and value to the A.S.P is under progress. (This is considered like moving up a year. If you joined as a 1st year, you must be a 2nd year to be a fully-fledged member).

They will be considered blank until your character moves up a year.

After proving your loyalty, your character will paint their masks as a sign of being a trusted member. There should be a painting ceremony every new school year. (Thread has yet to be done but it is assumed to be done anyway. As there is none yet, specifications on how the painting ceremony is held can't be revealed just yet. But it is assumed that it did happen, and only those who already moved up a year since joining will be able to wear their painted masks in threads)

Designing A Mask.
After you have done all the requirements, you 'OOC' is free to paint the mask however you like with a few rules.

1) do not use black paint (dark shades of everything is fine, but not black. That is only for the upperclassmen that are in charge of managing the club)
2) must use the default shape mask shown earlier. characters are not allowed to bring in their own personal mask.
3) no offensive terms that are meant to be hostile. it's common sense not to do that.

After agreeing to all of these, you are able to create the mask design on your own. The figure shown above was done by Haley Rose herself. Using the default mask, she created her own design and was able to use it with no problem.

Another option is to allow another member to do the design. As of now, Hanako is available to draw designs, but his artistic ability is very limited.

Leaving a mask blank even after staying longer than 1 school year, is not recommended. A blank mask means that your character is still not a trusted member. (It will be like riding the 1st year boat when you know you're definitely not a 1st year.)

Glossary for A.S.P special terms

Hamster
A Non-Parselmouth that joined the A.S.P club through force or friend. Rules may or may not apply to them. Alas, they are still required to keep the secret of the A.S.P. Upon joining, they will automatically be assigned a Parselmouth to take care of them. (friendly term for keeping an eye on them). Often times, it is the friend or foe that brought them to the chamber in the first place.

Geraldine
A hot, smart, brave, powerful 5th-year senior whose real name is never revealed. They are the prime founder of the A.S.P club. They are the one that brought the 'founders' together to form the club. All instructions. rules, mission, comes from their mysterious letters that somehow always manages to find the founders. In the club, they are basically placed on a pedestal and a.s.p members are supposed to take them very seriously.

They are also a fictional character made up by the founders.

Codenames
Main and the most polite way to address other members. They can either resemble a snake breed, or a random codename.

2nd Names
A more intimate way of calling other members. Typically kept as a secret unless the relationship is very special. Using it carelessly means an intent to be rude.

With the new year already here and so much new things changing around us, the club needed to add a few changes to the information page. Everything has been edited and updated and starting from today, the club will officially continue with the new information.

Heres some of the changes that were made.

1 ) Location

[ OLD ] The A.S.P is located in the ever so rumored “Chamber of Secrets.” Parselmouths are able to enter the Chamber through the abandoned lavatory. However, a password must be used in parsel in order to get the entrance to open. The password of the entrance itself changes every 6 months as to help keep trespassers and intruders out.The password used to open the entrance of the “Chamber of Secrets” is spoken in parsel. Again the chamber can only be opened by Parselmouths and the password of the entrance itself changes every 6 months as to help keep trespassers and intruders out.


[ NEW ] Meetings are regularly held at the ever so popular Chamber of Secrets. All it needs is a little bit of spoken Parseltongue to be able to open its doors. Hamsters ( non-parselmouth members) must be with a Parselmouth to be able to enter.

For instances where meetings does not require any secrecy, they can be held at common areas in Hogwarts where one would expect a club meeting to be held. However, most events take place in the Chamber.

Every 6 month, the club gives a new password to its members and it’s to be spoken before entering the Chamber. This is to alarm existent members on who is entering the chamber if they happen to be at the area at the time.

Hanako, another founder, is in charge of ‘seeking’ Parselmouths. While his identity as a parselmouth is hidden, he is in possession of a wand with Horned Serpent Horn core. Horned Serpent Horn cores have the unique ability to vibrate when parseltongue is being spoken. This is perfect for those who don’t even know they’re Parselmouths and it’s only figuring out this odd strange language they are suddenly fluent in. Further details can be discussed.

*Hanako does not possess the Wand Maker ability, therefore his wand cannot sense danger. However, he is able to use the flavor given to the wand, which is to vibrate whenever parseltongue is spoken

They were the first to reach out to the older Parselmouths and encouraged them to create the club. No one knows the true identity of Geraldine. But it is said that they are constantly looking out for all the members from the shadows.

*For every Parselmouth member (except the very few exceptions of those who were one of the first few members), it is mandatory to make a thread related to this. How your character joined the club is extremely important in the club. Only until the thread is finished, members can mention your character's existence in the club.

As for hamsters, since they can only join willingly (not willingly is another story) is through friends, you do not need to thread with any member. As long as there is evident proof that both the hamster and the a.s.p Parselmouth that invited them, consented to the sign-up. ei, Cassandra Ironwoods & Starlee Kennedy

Further details(that is which way you choose your character to join) will be discussed in dm's once you join the server, which is highly recommended. Owls are also available if discord is not a preferred way of communication.

1 ) Choose the method of joining
There are different methods of joining depending on if your character is a Parselmouth or someone who is not a Parselmouth. There is a total of 5 choices, but we generally allow room for creativity on how a character gets to join, so long as it makes sense and does not go against any site rules. (more information on the choices below)

2 ) Choose a 2nd name and Codenames
The club has a specific system of how a codename and 2nd name is choosen. IC, the characters are not able to choose. But OOC, it is entirely up to you. It applies to all members and both the 2nd name and codename is mandatory. However, only Hamsters are given the choice to decline this entirely.

3 ) Prepare a thread
Depending on how a character joins the club, it is mandatory to create a thread regarding that scenario before being able to join the club ic. Completion of this thread is recommended but of course, not neccesary. As long as there is a thread that that clearly showed how your character joined the club. It doesn't have to be long

4 ) Make up a mask design (optional until a year later after your character joins)
To differentiate between members who are trusted, and members who have just joined, depends on the mask design. New members will have a blank white mask while a official member have a design of their choice on the mask. This is apart of the IC club. New members may make a mask design early on but will not be able to use the designed mask ic until a year has passed.

Characters are not able to join events from the A.S.P club and be mentioned as a member from the other members until the thread is made. The thread does not to be completed, as long as both involved A.S.P members and the new member have made a post in a thread. As long as the subject of how they joined and what their codenames and 2nd names are completed, they are able to complete their registration in the A.S.P IC. (OOC is already secured the moment they receive the acceptance letter from the A.S.P member)

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

We are temporarily closing A.S.P due to the following:

• Inactivity in group threads for the past year
• Maintenance requirements club owners are not able to meet

All current members(That are so far registered in index) will have 1 week before they will be removed from the club index and discord server.

When the club opens again, there will now be a member limit. If you want to ensure your character still gets to join, please owl/dm Hanako Tone. If so, your character will be given priority in re-joining the club.

The club may be reopened but we are unable to give a concrete date for when that may be. During the time it’s closed, we plan to make several changes to the club. Therefore, when it reopens, it is likely that things will be very different. What we will be doing while it’s closed is:

• Reorganise club lore to be more easily digestible
• Rethink goals and objectives (ooc and ic) of the club
• Recruit extra help in maintaining the club (once it opens)
• Starting a member limit. Meaning, we will no longer be accepting all applications as they come. Details are not specified yet. Keep in mind existing members have a likelier change of re-joining if they wish to when the club opens again.

What will happen IC?
You may consider this scenarios happened to your character:

You grabbed your cloak and A.S.P mask, trying your best to discreetly come to the chamber of secrets. (If applicable: You meet up with your hamster right before entering the chamber). It was odd, really. All you knew was that an older emerald gazer snake slithered near you a few days ago while you were alone. Definitely belonged to an older parselmouth, as you have seen this snake before in meetings. Was is..cu sith..or siobhan? The snake doesn’t answer if you ask. Instead, it coughed out a small hand held bottle, gross and slimy- yes. But it looks important. After a good clean, the bottle hid a small note in it that only said:

Your character- being in A.S.P long enough, knew not to question the ever mysterious Gelradine. The ever elusive senior and creator of the A.S.P. Shouldn’t they have graduated by now? Whether or not your character decides against following orders or not, your character will find the same thing in the chamber.
The occasional traps the club placed are all removed. Silence greets your characters. Dust starts piling up again, as if people had stopped actively dusting the place. Your character may discreetly try to talk to other members, and you all may share ideas as to what happened. But one conclusion seems clear; there will be no more meetings and events.

F.A.Q

Why not just change ownership to someone else more active?
As one of the people who started the club and watched it happen over the past 4 years, there are some of us that are emotionally attached to the club. After much consideration, we decided to keep the club but we want to open applications for those interested in helping us run the club, ic and ooc.

Why is the member limit necessary?
One of the core values in A.S.P is the importance of ic and ooc interaction. We always wanted to try and make an immersive club not only for your character, but something you can genuinely enjoy ooc as well. The reality is that irl is highly important and sometimes we all get busy for a few months, understandably!

At the same time, this is an optional RP site. Most of us are here as a hobby, or to kill time, or just to make memories. As an ic/ooc club, we aim to create a space who share an enthusiasm or interest in the same thing we do. If you are less interested in the club or your character, it’s totally normal and okay! We’re not a club that forces you to stay or demand you are an active writer. We simply don’t want to bite more than we can chew, and focus threads and ic interaction with a smaller group.

With a smaller group, admins for this club can organise threads in the way that we envisioned A.S.P to be. Which is ic & ooc interest driven.

I'm a member of this club previously. Am I going to get kicked out?
Everyone will receive a week's notice starting from the time this announcement is uploaded to discord and club billboard. Via owl and discord, whichever is applicable for you. If you reply and wish to stay in the club, we will take note and your character will be considered a priority when the club opens again. This means the likeness that you can re-join immediately is high. Keep in mind this is not a guarantee. We will do our best though.

This applies the same for hamsters (non-parselmouths)

Will my character ever know the real reason why the club shut down?

We do not prevent you from rp-ing with other members of the club about what happens. We do hope that out of respect for the club and us, your character does not actively make the news widespread. The scenario given above means your character has already been trusted among the club IC. If your character actively goes around talking about the A.S.P, it will be considered disrespectful for the remaining members and us occ. It makes it difficult for us to even have an IC reason to continue the club.

We sincerely hope members will respect this preference, thank you.
