Sharing a dance with @AngelFyre McCubbin

Simon smiled widely as he listened to her laugh at herself in an attempt to probably sound like her Scottish father. It was fun to be around this girl and he was glad that the two had found one another, glad that the two had agreed to meet up there in the Rehearsal Room, and hoped that the two would have many more encounters together.

What exactly was it about this girl? Simon wasn't sure. It was as if she came into his world and brightened it up, captured his attention, and now consumed so many of his thoughts. She surprised him at every moment, right down from the beautiful blaze in her eyes, all that they seemed to share, and to her name: AngelFyre - a name as unique as the girl that it belonged to.

He watched as she gently pushed a small bit of hair from her face and smiled, that smile becoming wider as she stated that she did dance. "Is that so?" he asked, his voice a little low, almost a whisper. Was it because the two were seated so close or was it because he knew what his plans were there?

Not quite entirely sure the best plan of execution, Simon got up. He could use the gramophone and play some kind of song from one of his wizarding albums that he had sent there or one of the older ones that Hogwarts had. There were some kinda jazzy ones, but that's not really what he was wanting to go for here. So instead, he extended out his hand to her in a silent gesture to have her take it. When she would, he would lead her out further into the center of the Rehearsal Room, away from the piano and right under where the brilliant chandelier rested above.

There might have been a better song selection, but he would pick one from the crooner era, the one where focus was on vocals and not so much the music because right now all they'd have is his vocals. Frank Sinatra. Hopefully he would do alright with it. It would be there in the middle of that Rehearsal Room and under that chandilier above where he would pull her close to him and begin to sing, letting the words get things started, and then beginning to add some movement to it. Some steps, some spins. His aunt had taught him how to dance many many years ago and Simon had only gotten better with practice.

"Some day, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight.

Yes, you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft
There is nothing but for me to love you
And the way you look tonight..."

And he would continue on with the song while they danced.

Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)

AngelFyre dances with @Simon Kincaid
Feeling the heat blush her cheeks, AngelFyre stood and placed her delicate hand into Simon's outstretched one. Yes, his hand was still cold, but it seemed less noticeable in light of her nervous anticipation. As he gently enveloped her hand in his, there was a moment where, once again, their eyes locked, but curiously, there were no signs of the nervousness or bashfulness both had experienced earlier. There was just deep connection.

He silently turned and began to lead her to the middle of the room, stopping directly beneath the beautiful chandelier. Conscious of her rapid heartbeat thrumming in her ears, AngelFyre gasped slightly as Simon slipped an arm around her waist and pulled her close. Expecting heat to emanate from him, she was confused to feel the opposite. Like his hand, his whole body was cold as well. But as quickly as the surprise of that discovery tripped across her brain, it was all forgotten when she heard him start to sing.

Was she dreaming? There she was, in his arms, listening to his beautiful voice as he began to sing an old standard she knew and loved very well. Where she found the courage to do so she was not quite sure, maybe in his eyes, but she found herself unabashedly gazing up at him. Her eyes only broke contact with his when she felt the slightest touch on her waist as he began to sway.

Her mother had always told her you could learn a lot about your partner by dancing with them. The man could learn how willing, or capable, his partner was at following his subtle cues. The woman, by contrast, could learn what kind of a man she was following. Confident or hesitant? Gentle or rough? Patient or forceful. AngelFyre was actually remembering none of that while in Simon's arms. She just felt lost in a world occupied by only the two of them in those achingly sweet moments of swaying, gentle spins and turns, and his beautiful voice. With her eyes closed and her head now resting against his shoulder, she relaxed in his embrace, humming ever so softly as he sang.

What she was experiencing was perfect synchronicity and something even more profound than that. Her 11 year old self would not have been able to articulate the complicated maze of feelings Simon's presence had brought into her life, but she was aware of, and did understand, that she had an overwhelming sense of having found her true home in his arms.

Their story continues here to here to here.
