Gryffindor v Slytherin

The initial plan for Thomas Lestrange fell by the wayside with the revival of a new competitive sport. Days of warming the bench of Slytherinβs quidditch club now passed. A new spectacle occupied precedence, one that aligned with the boyβs nimble skill set.
Donning the uniform his house provided with a few accessories to top off his appearance. Most notably black tape around his wrists and elbows to help stabilize the limbs he shall rely on today.

It was a cold and beautiful day in Scotland decorated in the most artistic form of water, making the usual green field of Hogwarts covered in white. That surely wouldnβt stop the first ever broom race against two houses, Gryffindor and Slytherin to commence. Young kids these days, those gen Z, always searching for a thrill in every way, even in the middle of the freezing winter. A six foot frame, covered in mittens and coats, to the point where they looked like a walking roll of fabric, stood in front of the racers. Their face was hidden underneath a red and green beanie hat that clearly was too big for their head size.
They couldn't wait for another second to start the broom gp and cheering from the bleachers, but a little welcoming speech had to be done for professionalism. "Welcome Welcome! Today we're going to watch the amazing race between Gryffindor and Slytherin! WHOOOOHHOOOO!"It was rather short, but it shouldn't matter since everyone came to see the race and not their one thousand pages worth of speech about broom racing.
Though no one could see their expression, they actually were looking at the ten young racers with a proud face. Then a high pitch saying, βARE YOU READY TO SEE FLYING LIONS AND SNAKE, KIDS!?β could be heard ever so loudly. With both hands holding two red and green flags, they added, βREADY, SET, BYE!β They just threw the flags on the air and waved at the racers. Hopefully he would see those little gremlins again with all limbs still attached. A tall person can dream higher than their height.
Wait, do they have driving license?
You have 5 days from now to post and submit your action to both Aurora Ranvier and Avery Gallows through owl. Good Luck!

Hugh's gaze fell on the audience, he recognized Serena sitting among them. For some reason, he was actually making an effort and offered a short wave with two fingers. That was all she was going to get out of him, and in all honesty, that was a lot. His eyes couldn't help but shift a little to the side though, as they fixated on a sign someone was holding up. "Well then, cap'n. Seems like you got yourself a fanbase already." Hugh said with a bit of a smirk playing on his lip. Whoever that girl was, it was clear who she had the hots for.
The remark he caught from Darkos would not go unnoticed. If there needed to be any hope of winning today, the team could benefit of leaving all their heads uncracked, the part-giant realised as much. Instead, Hugh's brow would arch upwards and give the kid a distinct look. After their initial training session, it ought to be one Darkos had grown familiar with by now. "Looking for a fight already, prettyboy? Why don't you work your charm on the other team instead?" He growled back at Darkos.
Xailah was being quiet and sneaky, as usual. There was something eerily uncomfortable about her stalking behind him. Yet, from what they both had seen in their years within Hogwarts, he realized he had grown quite used to that looming presence to actually protect him and their fellows. The Halloween ball, the train attack, the festival, β¦ She'd always been around. To her, Hugh would offer a stiff nod and a quick wink in order to check up on her. He wasn't exactly expecting her to tremble with nerves. The image of her clawing at another part-giant was still burned in his memory.
Last but not least, he'd address the smallest girl on the team. "Chin up and shoulders straight, Barfield. You wouldn't be on the team if we didn't have faith in you." He winked again and gave her a pat on the shoulder. "And remember, if you see Captain Mop over here, fall." He pointed towards Nicholas behind him. "Just smile and tell him to pick up the pace."
Aside from all that, it was time to race. Hugh swung the broom under his legs and stood ready for take-off. "Time to make ourselves known, folks."

With his petty feud with Carrington satiated for the moment, Nicholas turned his attention back toward his own team. They were a motley assortment, a mixture of heights and ages, and yet somehow it was not the part-giant who was the most intimidating. No, that title remained with the dark-haired prefect. That same prefect who Nicholas had once witnessed steal a vial of blood from an unconscious boy. The memory sent shivers down his spine, but they werenβt entirely unpleasant, after all, the entirely creepy girl was flying under the banner of the golden lion. With thoughts of intimidating prefects and embarrassing signs, it took Nicholas a moment to process that Levi Drakos was speaking. In response, he caught vague growls from Lowe toward the second year, the make-up of the words lost on the captain as he considered more pressing matters than what he assumed to be friendly banter between teammates. It was only after a breath or two that he realised that Drakos had also spoken to Nicholas himself.
The captain shot a glance over his shoulder, confusion painting a face that remained coloured red from Auroraβs sign. What? Another hug? Was the boy so desperate for attention that he required friendly bonding so regularly?
βHuh?β Nicholas asked unconsciously, before burying the confusion, not wishing to put forth such a face to his team, βOh, uh, sure. You can have whatever you want to celebrate.β The answer was provided with absent tones, his lack of comprehension of any subtext entirely present. He felt somewhat bad for his housemate, perhaps he needed a friend, maybe he was from one of those families that embraced too regularly.
Still, the words did serve to drag Nicholas back to the course before him. There wasnβt any point thinking about his fanbase, as Lowe had so eloquently put it, nor of past interactions with his team or the other. They had a race to win.
He shot a thumbs up to Barfield, an arrogant smirk plastered across his face as the co-captain encouraged the first year.
βIβll try not to fall behind,β He added, βDonβt wait for me if I do.β
He rolled his shoulders, letting the occasional pop and crack ripple through the air before he mounted his broom. He breathed in, deeply, centering himself, before throwing another arrogant smirk back toward the Slytherin team.

The shift in the shadow in which Xailah stood, drew her attention upwards. The Goliath of a boy standing before her, had turned her way. Xailah wary of Hugh, having witnessed his capabilities when in a rage; yet her stance remained unwavering. The boy could pop a skull, as if it were nothing more than a measley circus peanut. No person should have been able to do such a thing with their bare hands- yet here stood Hugh, Crusher of Skulls. He wasn't someone you'd like to get on their bad side. Head popping aside, he was a pleasant presence; and one Xailah did find some relief in. The mere size of the lad intimidated many of their peers- as well as larger potential threats. Say like, other half-giants. It was the same reasoning for why she was drawn to those with foreboding presences. The alliance between the two cubs- should it be called such- was akin to the relationship between little birds and large land mammals. It was, like many of the relationships Xailah formed, obliviously symbiotic.
When given the nod by the giantling, Xailah mirrored the gesture. Her head tipped upwards towards him, so he could see her face rather than the top of her head. As substitute for his wink, she pressed her eyelids together in a small, accepting blink. Nothing was said by either. When Hugh turned to comfort Gryffindors littlest team member, Xailah turned to eye the rest of the team. Nicholas appeared to be gathering his bearings- the distant cries of his adoring fan could be heard ringing above the cheers of the crowd. Levi was... doing whatever Levi's usually did. Which was being a bother, apparently. Della was likely fretting. Hopefully the first year took the kind words shared by Hugh to heart. The girl had purpose on the team. They all did.
The time to fly came quickly. Both teams got ready for takeoff. Xailah exhaled. A spark of adrenaline traveled the length of her back. She gripped DeSoto tightly in her gloves hands; her thumb slid over the brooms name embossed in chrome. She swung one leg over the wooden steed, followed by the other, opting for an aside stance- or sidesaddle; as was the term used when riding horses. The position, though potentially dangerous, allowed for a wide range of maneuverability; and should she change her mind, she could switch to a different seated position with ease. She looked to those on her team, shooting each a glance before taking to the skies.

Somewhere in the thickening blanket of snow lies a dove; it remains pristine, as though protected in its shallow grave rather than chipped away by the ferity of the weather. Its goodbye was tender, a seamless white sheet engulfing it in its stillness, marked only by a faint bulge in an otherwise flat plain of snow. Without a dash of imagination, no one would ever know it had been there. In its place, ferocity would take to the sky, and peace would remain drowning once the ground thawed. There was no blood flow, no deep color shedding across the fallen flurries, it was just there and gone, not missed nor mourned. If it had went against itself and found warmth in the glaring heat of opposing teams, or even team members, who knew how its lifespan would've stretched. Principal is a death sentence.
A bright vehemence existed in the hearts of the respective competitors, summoning a hefty weight in the atmosphere around them. Shoulders held high were crushed by anxiety but risen again by passion, the cries of the spectators contributing evenly to both. They tossed a coin and chanted heads or tails until their mugs vibrated, sloshing drinks onto their laps and staining winterβs bracing kiss. Levi rolled his broom between his gloved hands, hazel eyes gliding over the crowd, sparking little more than contempt. A fiery-haired girl pushed herself to the foreground, sporting a sign that apparently referred to Mop, of all people, as hot. Suddenly it made more sense to him that the first and only time heβd seen this spirited girl with NicholasβWinnieβs birthday partyβsheβd been wearing a blindfold.
It was marvelous how his inner eye could romanticize the happenings around them, a sidereal perspective molded for poetry and Mercy, and furthermore a statement that there was no call for sincerity in the arts. He peered toward the part-giant heβd mistakenly addressed, brows raising at the growl that seeped between his teeth. Perhaps he hadnβt considered the half-hearted line carefully enough. Praise his decision to focus on bothering his βbrosβ rather than the imposing dark-haired girl who appeared a few years older than himself. βI didnβt see them quite as deserving, but whatever you think gives us the upper hand, boss.β He hummed, a dreaming undertone to his words meant to diffuse. Still, he wouldnβt wait for his head to be bitten off, and there was a subtle step back.
Nicholas, on the other hand, was in a good mood. Too good, in fact, and Leviβs nose wrinkled at his glib reply. Now, now, the broadness of whatever you want would certainly be coming back to haunt their captain in approximately an hourβs time, but it was somewhat anti-climactic when compared to Hughβs threatening snarl. Still, a solid relationship between the two could be essential in the long run of things. A schematic or hollow bond served more purposes than an enemyβs secondhand aggression. His stare flickered to the banshee in the stands before returning to the mess of hair that was his leader. βIβll take you up on that.β
With his final word said, Levi shook his hands to the side and brushed the scattered snowflakes from his hair, letting them fall to his shoulders like a speck of dust. Lending a confident glance to their first-year teammate, he then inhaled the fervent aura of the lineup, coughing out the last of the doveβs feathers. In a swift movement, he was centered on his broom, and ready to fly.Action As strategized.Stats: Sta: 7 | Eva: 8 (9) | Str: 4 (5) | Wis: 6 (7) | Arc Power: 5 | Acc: 6 (8)

----Vale blinked and observed the mass of cloth that signaled the start of the race. It was cold, but not that cold. Then again, maybe it was and Vale's excitement was already pouring itself as heat. Whatever the case, she gotten onto her broom and steadied her position. The race didn't even so much as start yet that she was already bursting with nerves. She gripped her broom, and readied herself for racing.

[font=times new roman]Wyatt mounted his broom with determination in his eyes, finding his balance. He pulled his goggles down and fought the urge to take another look at the Gryffindors before opting for one at his own team.
From what very little Wyatt knew about Ashwood, she was unhinged, which would mostly help them in a game like this. Carrington was confident, perfect. Salvatore was nothing if not ready to fly and Lestrange looked to be prepared. Wyatt had faith in this group.
The Parselmouth watched a perfectly energetic but substanceless speech, but more importantly, he watched as the speechmaker waved a flag that meant it was time to go.
