Reputation PV Mardella Bram Finished

Phaedra fully made her way out of the water, giving each leg a shake over the soft grass to fling off the stubborn droplets clinging to her skin. Her belongings remained untouched where she had left them, she was relieved to find, and she made her way over to the pile. She didn't bother to slip back on her socks and shoes - instead she quickly stuffed the socks into the toe of her flats so she could quickly get as far away as possible from the girl. Gathering up the items, her wand lay right in the spot underneath and she grabbed for it, standing up straight afterwards. Her left hand twitched as she turned to face Mardella. She was internally grateful that the girl hadn't tried anything in the water while she was unarmed.

When the Gryffindor brought up her father and mentioned Knockturn finding him a traitor, Phaedra took in a sharp breath. Years ago, Giannis Stavrou had lost himself a few allies when he turned himself in, especially after rumors surfaced of him handing over the whereabouts of other criminals to the Ministry. Phaedra disagreed with helping the Ministry, but she didn't find it to be traitorous to pureblood code at all - he had served the Dark Lord until the very end, and believed that his actions were what he had to do to protect his family. Were you really a noble pureblood if you couldn't make sacrifices for the greater good of your lineage? Phaedra convinced herself that her father was a good man, that he was honorable and loyal to what mattered most; the family. It was a harsh reality to Phaedra, that even other pureblood supremacists could be so ignorant on what blood really meant and so wrong about her father, but such was life. Purebloods had alliances, but it was silly to think even those as everlasting. It was their fault for the crazy expectations they had, not her dad's for finding his daughter and wife more important and jumping ship.

Phaedra opened her mouth to retort back but was faced with Mardella's stammering. She felt an uneasy feeling wash over her, and her left hand rose, shaking, to aim her wand at the Bram girl still in the water. What else was Mardella going to hurl at her today? Did Mardella know about her maternal side of the family back in Greece, and their constant infighting and bickering - how half of them hated their union to the Stavrous? Did she know about Pavlina? It was likely. The Brams worked in Knockturn Alley, with pompous, gossiping, pureblood elites as their regular clientele. Very little was private if you were around that circle.

"Don't talk about my family," Phaedra muttered to herself, her eyes narrowed like daggers. Her family was high-ranking so therefore they were absolutely off limits - a privilege she selfishly refused to grant families like Mardella's. Although the distance made it too difficult for Mardella to have caught what had been said, it was however perfect for a little target practice, and Phaedra was considering using the Gryffindor to train if she continued.

Incendio was her best spell so far, but it wouldn't make much sense to use on someone in their current setting. If she set the girl's hair or clothes on fire, she could just put it out anyway with all of the water around. Phaedra thought harder, her shoulders rising and falling quickly with her increasing annoyance. Levicorpus briefly flashed through her mind - she could dangle the girl upside down and hold her underwater until she was close to drowning - but that was a spell a tad too advanced for her level. Mucus ad Nauseum was a bore, and Diffindo she had yet to cast correctly. There were few options left, and maybe it was for the best. She couldn't duel and she knew it. Not to mention, even if she did manage to cast a duelling spell at Mardella, with all the witnesses around the lake it wouldn't end well for her behavioral record.

A few seconds went by of Phaedra just staring the girl down, wand pointed out to look as threatening as she could manage, trying desperately to give the impression that she had the last word in the altercation. Once she realized that the other girl had nothing else to add, seeming just as bummed out as she were, Phaedra let her wand arm fall down defeatedly to her side. She immediately turned, still carrying her shoes in the other arm, and began to dart away from the Great Lake, far from Mardella.

A lump formed in the Ravenclaw's throat as she held back humiliated and angry tears stinging the corner of her eyes, her legs carrying her as fast as she could go. She hoped she wouldn't have to see the Bram's face around for a long, long time, because as far as she was concerned she had made her first real enemy and the thought terrified her. Running back towards the school, the blue of her uniform faded in the distance.
