Dear Mum and Da,

Yesterday was quite the adventure, I have to say. I found some new friends to sit on the train with, I even shared my snacks! There was so much to take in, I can hardly describe it all! I'll just start with the Sorting, what you're probably the most anxious to know about.

I'm a Hufflepuff! It was a little bit nerve-wracking, going up in front of everyone, but it really gave me the opportunity to see everyone and absolutely everything. The Great Hall is so pretty. After the Sorting was finished, there was a giant feast with lots and lots of food, and it was (almost) as good as yours, Da! I ate until I could hardly move, which wasn't so great for trying to climb into the barrel to get into the common room! I saw my new dormitory- it's so pretty and colorful, it almost makes me not miss my room back home. I do miss all of my stuffed animals though, and everything else that's so familiar. Be sure to keep my stuff company while I'm gone! I wouldn't want it to be lonely.

What I miss most of all is you, though. And Merlin! I wish he was there to snuggle up by my feet as I fell asleep, and I wish you could come tuck me in every night still. I know that I'm going to have fun, but I still wish that I could be at home with you. I'll send you another letter soon to update you on everything that's happening! I love you! Give Merlin a treat for me.
