Cash and Samantha were still arguing. Lucia watched them worriedly, a crease making itself known upon her forehead and one hand sneaking up to twist its way through a loose strand of hair. Should she step in? Or just leave them to it? Well, it wasn't like they were actually doing anything wrong... yet... so she should just leave it. Right? Yeah. She'd leave it. That was the best thing to do.
On the other hand, Cody and Hildegard appeared to be becoming the best of friends. So much so, in fact, that Cody stepped in front of his partner with a rash promise that the young Slytherin would be a 'punching bag' no longer. Not that that seemed to do anything: when Samantha launched a spell towards the two, Cody somehow managed to dive in the exact opposite direction to the one he was supposed to be going, and it hit Hildegard square in the face. Lucia winced in sympathy, hoping that the pair wouldn't take it too badly.
Hildegard, meanwhile, perhaps wanted revenge for both herself and her comrade, and brandished her wand in Cash's direction, a jet of light launching itself across the stage towards her fellow snake. However, it wasn't too hard for Cash to dodge, and they did so easily - but when they tried to cast their own spell, it didn't go precisely to plan. Lucia watched in horror as her friend's Incendio Duo backfired on them, catching their clothes on fire and likely causing them plenty of pain as well as humiliation. The Hufflepuff tensed. She couldn't go in to help... not yet... but she wanted to. She wanted to so, so bad. Maybe she just wasn't cut out for this whole 'moderating' thing.
Things didn't seem to be going well for the younger pair of aspiring duellers - but it wasn't exactly going well for the older two either. Things seemed to be pretty even from where Lucia was standing...

Cody thanked her for het kindness, but also added that he didn't want any. Samantha was quite surprised when Cody offered himself as punching bag. She didn't understand why he would do that. Not that it matter that much to her, she was going to do what she wanted. He was not the person to decided that for her, even if he meant it well.

She rolled her eyes, which Cash had just threatened to poke with their wand. "I will take my chances, I don't think you will do that. You are pretty stupid, but not that stupid." Cash threatening her wasn't a big deal, they had done it before and Sam didn't care about it.

Even though Cody had been a real hero, Samantha didn't listen to him. There was no reason for her to listen to the opponent. She got ready and aimed her wand at the younger girl, who was standing on the other side of the stage. "Flipendo," the girl said and she casted the spell towards Hildegard.

Apparently Cody had been serious about sacrificing himself. The boy tried to block her spel from reaching Hildegard, but he failed horribly as he dived in the exact opposite direction. The spell hit its original target and Samantha was really happy.

She hadn't been the only one of her team who casted a spell. All the spells of her team had hit, but not all spells had hit the right target. Maybe Cash had realized how annoying they were and had set themselves on fire on purpose, but Samantha doubted that. It was probably a failed spell.

She deserved better then Cash as her partner. She deserved somebody that didn't cast spells at themselves. Maybe somebody who could aim and dodge the incoming spells. On the bright side, Samantha didn't have to cast spells at Cash, they did it themselves.

"You are useless!" the young girl told the older student. "I would rather have Hildegard or Cody as my partner, they are much much much better then you." But sadly they were a team and she had to deal with them.

[font=century gothic]... a body block attempt was an utter fail. Shit. Does the world hate him? Was Cody really that despised? So despised he had to be thrown to the side opposite of Hildegard? He meant to prevent her from being targeted, but apparently that was utter bull.

Cody would look at Sam, then to Cash. They were seemingly on fire. Sam wasn't. Sam wasn't even affected! But Hildegard. She was targeted tremeondously. Why was everyone so mean to Hildegard? A low growl was occuring in the boy's throat.

Who was really that mean to target a first year? To bully them by attacking them? He looked at Hildegard, smiled with a sad look unto his face. He meant to give a reassuring look to Hildegard, but thought real fast. "Hildy, why don't you just leave? I don't want you getting hurt any more. I'll take the damage. I will take the torture they and her have in store for you. On the bright side, you wouldn't need to DEAL WITH THEIR CORROSIVE BICKERING." The part goblin said, yelling out the last part of his statement, loud enough for the opposing duo to hear.

"Sam. Can you just betray Cash for a minute? You seem to hate her. Just light her on fire. Or just don't. Suffer with the pain of being with someone you hate. And as for you Cash, why would you ignite yourself on fire? You're not exactly a candle, you know?"[/font]

-Ha ! Hilda intuitively said when she saw her 3rd Slytherin housemate fail her spell.

She knew it could happen to anyone specially in a duel, but seeing Cassandra fail while her a first year succeeded all her spell so far, it was enjoyable.
Specially considering that her own incendio had missed. She wanted to provoke her by saying something like thanks for compensating the missing spell or something like that.
However she reconsidered as Cassandra was still a 3rd year, it would not be wise to provoke her unless it involved a plan.
She looked at Cody completely failing his tentative of chivalry if it was even that, then proceeded into facepalming herself.
Just after she looked at the one who attacked her again Samantha.

-So is that your strategy ?! She asked out loud.

It seemed to her that the opponent team had decided to turn it into a one versus one, Cody against Cassandra and her against Samantha.

In the other hand her team's underlying strategy was completely different.

-Cody ! Pull yourself together ! It's not a the time for this ! She replied to the boy.

-I would not mind that tho... She added to his demand to Samantha
Hildegard felt that her body would not be able to withstand much more spell so she hurried up and proceed to do what she wanted to do.

Cash and Samantha really didn't like each other, did they? Lucia couldn't help wondering whether Henry had known about, well, this, when he'd paired the two up. And if he had... why, in Merlin's name, had he done it? At least if they faced each other they'd be able to relieve their frustrations, although actually it would probably not be good in terms of cheating. The two looked like they'd do almost anything to prove they were better than the other - which at the moment appeared to be getting in the most hits against their opponents. At least that was within the rules of duelling.

However, although Cody obviously agreed with Lucia's growing frustration towards the Slytherin and Ravenclaw, he decided that the best way to deal with it was to- to try to convince his partner to leave. "Cody!" Lucia said, horrified. "I appreciate your-" stupidity "-protectiveness, but you can't try make your partner leave! That's just rude! Hildegard signed up for this; she understands what's 'in store for her'." She glared at the younger boy, trying to figure out how to really put her point across. Poor Hildegard! It really didn't help when even your partner was suggesting you couldn't do anything useful. "Hildegard, I won't stop you if you want to leave, but you shouldn't forfeit a duel because someone tells you to. Cody, you should keep in mind that, if this was an official duel, if Hildegard left you would have to do the same. It's both of you or neither. That's why duelling's a team sport." Thank Merlin though, Hildegard echoed Lucia by telling her partner to 'pull himself together', a statement to which Lucia gave an approving nod.

Now that Lucia was finished getting annoyed at her fellow Hufflepuff, the duellers got back to spells. Just as the flames on their robes went out, Cash sent a pretty scary-looking Incendio Duo towards Cody, who just ducked a little, letting the spell fly right over his head. In retaliation, he shot a Knockback Jinx in Cash's direction, the deadliness of which Lucia gasped at. It was a close call, but, luckily for Cash, they managed to get out of the way just in time. "That was brilliantly cast," the duellist admitted.

But then Samantha came into the fray, and she shouted her incantation, and her own Knockback Jinx spiralled towards Hildegard, and it hit her square in the chest, not even giving the younger girl a chance to dodge out of the way. Hildegard flew backwards, out before she even hit the floor, and Lucia leapt forwards. "EVERYONE PAUSE!" she shouted, holding her hands out as she hurried towards Hildegard and knelt down beside her. "HENRY!" she waved one arm towards @Henry Knight, who was moderating the other duel of the morning. The boy came over and with a twirl of his wand cast a healing spell on Hildegard before going back to his own job [godmodding permitted by henry], leaving Lucia to help the Slytherin up. "You okay?" Letting Hildegard lean on her if she needed it, which she shouldn't due to the healing spell which Henry had cast, Lucia lead her off the stage. Hildegard, feel free to continue your RP in the spectator thead if you'd like, as long as Hildegard only watches and doesn't attempt to join back in with the duel. "RESUME!"

Hildegard asked if that was their strategy, well it didn't sound like a question, more like a conclusion. Was Hildegard annoyed? Samantha could not see it, the other girl was too far away. "Well, I do have a strategy, but I am not so sure about Cassandra. My plan is basically to dodge spells, so I don't get hit by them and make sure my spells do hit. Apparently, this idiot," she pointed towards Cash, " has decided to do the total opposite. Getting hit by your spells, missing their own, and even casting at themselves. Also, I chose to target you," Samantha looked at Hildegard," and they have chosen to target Cody, for whatever reason, maybe because I target you. I have no idea, I am not even sure if Cassandra can think. Anyway, I don't target you because I dislike you or anything, it is just the smartest thing to do and Cassandra is not smart enough to realize that. I mean what do you expect from them, they are too stupid to realize muggle-born people are just as good as others." Samantha rambled on and she wasn't even answering Hildegard's question anymore, she was more focused on making Cash look bad. The brunette knew that Cash was standing close enough to her to slap her, but she did not care.

Cody and Hildegard agreed that Samantha should betray Cash. To be honest, the plan sounded extremely appealing. She would be able to get back at Cash for what they had done to her, but she wouldn't. It was against the rules, Lucia had even said it at the beginning like she knew what was going to happen. "I'm sorry guys, it would bring me much joy to cast a spell or two towards my amazingly stupid and annoying teammate, but it is against the rules, and well rules are rules and you can't break those." Rules were holy for the young girl, they were made for the safety of everybody and she should never break them.

Winning this duel and proving to Cash that she was better, was very high on the girl's agenda so there was no way she was going easy on her opponents. On top of that, the older Slytherin student annoyed Samantha a lot. She outed this frustrating in her spell casting. At the top of her longs, the young girl screamed "FILPENDO" and send the spell towards the younger girl.

Samantha saw her spell hit the young girl right in the chest. She didn't see the other girl move anymore and Samantha began to worry. Was Hildegard going to be okay? Lucia yelled that they needed to pause and hurried towards Hildegard. "Is she okay?" she asked worriedly, but there was no need for an answer as the spell, which Henry had performed, healed the student.

With mixed feelings, she watched Hildegard leave the stage. She had knocked somebody out with her spell, it didn't feel right. She stopped herself, this was dueling, everybody who signed up for dueling knew this was a possibility and so did Hildegard. On top of that, now there was only one other duelist. She only needed to get Cody out and then she would win.

[font=century gothic]Of course, the boy would cast a brilliant spell; Flipendo. But... did the moderator of the duel just yell at him? He would yell back to Lucia. "Well- I'M SORRY I WANTED TO PROTECT HER. I'M ALSO SORRY THAT I'M TOO LATE. Little do you know, perhaps I have a bit of a heart rather than getting in trouble all the time."

He hissed loudly. The spell failed. What was he doing wrong? Did he have to cast with malice in order to regain his utmost spellcasting he knew his ability of? Well, worth a try.

He attempted to look as cruel as he could. He snarled at Cass and Sam. "You dare remove my partner?"

The boy had to pause a minute and turn his head, lightly giggling. This was an odd thing and slightly awkward idea for Cody.

He turned his head around, wagging his fingers on his hand towards Cass. "You may have not eliminated her, but you are my primary target. Defeat me and win something I treasure, something I always wear. What do you think? My necklace from America, I'll be willing to bet it."

Maybe that was stupid, maybe ridiculous, but Cody was hoping by the time he cast his next spell was cast, the luck would be on his side. Was it perhaps? He tried to be intimating, and betting too![/font]

Lucia only half-listened to Samantha's rambles about Cash. She really hated them, apparently, as proved by the speech which tumbled out of her mouth, clearly pointing out just about all of Cash's shortcomings. Was this kind of speech normal for duels? Usually the duellists were too busy casting spells at each other to talk a whole lot, or at least in Lucia's experience. Plus, she'd never gone against a pair who seemed to dislike being paired up as much as Samantha and Cash did. Lucia just hoped that Samantha would keep to her promise not to break the rules, and the two wouldn't end up accidentally-on-purpose setting each other on fire.

Cody meanwhile, was the opposite. Although Lucia was listening, she wasn't really sure what he was saying. Was he... making a bet? Wasn't that illegal? Lucia figured she should probably say something, so she piped up. "Please don't start gambling," she said semi-sternly, then jumped as Cody's shouted Knockback Jinx flew forwards and hit Cash in the arm, making them stumble. They weren't looking too great, but they weren't passed out yet, although they didn't seem to have the strength to do anything this round. Samantha did, though: a well-cast Dancing-Feet Spell shot out of her wand. It was just a shame that it went so high above Cody's (admittedly pretty close to the ground) head.

"Yes Cody," she said with a big grin, "I dare to remove your partner, since it is part of dueling, silly." Samantha teased her opponent. Cody seemed to be certain he would win and even bet his necklace on it. After Lucia told him not to start gambling, Samantha had to get a word in. "I don't need your necklace, you can keep it, you would make me way happier if you could just cast a few spells at Cassandra," she said with an innocent little smile.

Now that Hildegard was out, the chances of Samantha winning became bigger, but so did the chance of Cash winning since they were on the same team. It frustrated her, knowing that if she won the idiot did too. Every good move she made, was also a good thing for Cash. Yet her need to win the duel was bigger than her need to see Cash fail.

The fact that there was only one other duelist to get out made it super easy for her to pick her target. Cody was small and it would be harder to hit him, but she had no choice. Using her favorite spell, Samantha aimed her wand at the Hufflepuff boy. As she was used to taller duelists, the brunette had aimed too high and the spell missed Cody.

Samantha wasn't happy at all when her spell missed the boy and she knew that Cash would probably say something about it. Not that they had done any better this round, the only thing that they had done was get hit. "Nice flipendo Cody!" she yelled across the stage before she turned to her partner. "Okay, I know it might be hard for you to understand, but you are supposed to dodge spells and cast your own, understood?" she talked to Cash like one would talk to a four-year-old. "I hope next round you will do better. Make your mommy and daddy proud, okay?"
