Battle of Wits

It was that time of the year again. Where leaves turned orange and the air had that crisp scent. Somewhere around the castle a group of students preparing for the incoming Fall Ball and some participating in unofficial duels like this one. Dueling season would be starting soon so does Quidditch. Those that want to hone or practice their prowess in Dueling, would attend the unofficial event.
Or perhaps the dueler that participates in today's even just want to fill in their free time. You may see familiar and unfamiliar faces inside the Dueling Club. It seems Duelling slowly gained its name no matter what year you are or whether you are an experienced Duellist or not. Though this is an unofficial duel, does not mean today's even less important and serious than the real one.
Just like an official one, there is a prize at stake and it fueled all duellers to give all they got to be named as the Champion for the first-ever Battle of Wits. Amongst the spectators, @Kit Paine would be watching the duels to make sure no one broke any rules or that the duels did not get out of hand. The events themselves will be divided into two days. The first stage happened on Saturday, October 9th 2021 and the second stage on the following day.
The Duelling Room was a large room, with long stages set up in the center. Three pistes, in fact. Lines had been drawn on the ground to signify where the spectators should stand - a safe distance behind the referees and professors. This was primarily to keep them from being victims to a random stray spell that could have been misfired.
On the front door of the room and again on the wall, a large poster stuck up containing the timetable for duels for spectators wishing to view specific friends. There were two main slots; the morning slot and the afternoon slot. Each timeslot had two games - two pairs per game. Some students opted to come for just one game; others chose to attend all of them.
It was entirely up to the spectators. There was an hour slot booked in, by which all two of the duels will definitely have ended. An hour break to tend to the wounded and reset before the next set of duellists stepped in.

Afternoon Slot, Duel 2
It was not every day that Ming got to see a duel up close, and given that he personally knew three of the four combatants, it felt like this would be an excellent excuse to take notes and learn from the experience of his peers
After all, if he ever managed to make it onto the duelling team, it was likely that he would be facing up against older years. And what better way to learn the best way of dealing with such a situation than to watch the local prodigy deal with it herself. Miss Kerr had impressed with her performance in the Wargames both in terms of strategy and spellcasting, and Ming felt no shame in admitting that he would gladly learn from her employed ideas and approach to this little hurdle.
Miss Stewart was here too. She had been one of his first experiences with dueling, and something of a legend in duelling circuits it turned out. It would be interesting to see how she approached this little battle as well. If he was in her place, he would simply attempt to overwhelm the opposition with sheer firepower. Being older and more magically powerful than her opponents had its advantages, surely.
Then again one of her opponents was Gray, who had proved himself to be reliably unpredictable. Perhaps the boy had some tricks up his sleeve to make this interesting in some way he had not foreseen.
Ming could not wait to watch events unfold.
The curtains fell. And the silence was deafening
