Rage burned white-hot through Santario and more so when every spell thrown at the hag failed. A deep growl emanated from her chest, resonating into her throat as she clenched her teeth. A feral animal ready to tear flesh from bone. Meat that was retreating from her, which realistically she wouldn’t mind just running the other way…
Things would draw Santario's attention to words that reminded her of the night that marked her for death as Marion fled. Santario, for just a moment, seemed to be retreating into herself once more as she looked back at the castle. She wanted to run for it to flee to the safe confines of the stone walls that would protect her until she was ready to change. Erin was not far from them and bound; it reminded her of their failure to save her. Santario could not save her now; a dead person could not save anyone… But a dead person could cause more death. It was what she was meant for now, no longer a healer but an agent of destruction, and like Thomas and Howard, Marion was not in her coven and, therefore, still an enemy. In theory, this should make Thomas and Howard enemies, but the bonds of friendship still hold the higher ground for now.
Thomas’s bellow for Howard would force her attention back on him, and she already started gathering her skirts into her hands by the time he called for Flash, who probably wouldn’t hear him on the other side. His apology was quick, and Santario shook her head, her feet leaving in a run just as his had. “No, Reaper, we walk hand in hand to face death! THE HAG MUST DIE!”

Long legs carried Howard forward as his eyes scanned the scene before him. The signs of conflict were evident as missed spells scorched grass and the looks of pain, fear and anger were etched across people's faces. However, his mind would focus on those he was fated to. Thomas Lestrange was attempting to leave the scene with Santario in tow. He called to him, but for what purpose? A call to arms? To call him out? Perhaps just the forces of fate coursing through his body as a guttural call to the skies would reunite them to finish business left far too long.
Howard's red eyes would shift towards another familiar face. Well, once familiar as Erin now looked more animal than human. He still wouldn't be able to totally wrap his head around what was happening to her, but one thing he did know was that he was bound to her until the end. The darkness that had bonded them so long ago had to be broken if he was going to ever move forward. For so long her presence had driven him down those darkened paths. The anger he felt within filled her void and protected him from his pain. A terrible dance that only further damaged the two, but in this moment Howard would feel something different when he locked eyes with her. A twinge that made his heart skip a beat and tightened his throat. A feeling of ineptitude mixed with guilt and sorrow. He had failed her...they had all failed her. In this last moment they rallied around her, but something in her feral eyes carried a finality to it. Unbeknownst to Howard there was little time left before she was lost forever, but a part of him could almost sense it. With a long exhale he would ready himself. One way or another.

If Victor is no longer bound
Ileen couldn't help but stare at him. She didn't know enough about his relationship and past with Mario or Vlad to be able to relate the emotions reflected in his face. But whatever it was, possibly it made him give up. She knew there was something to his words - if they wanted to hunt him down, he wouldn't be safer elsewhere. Maybe for tonight. Maybe for tomorrow, but eventually they would fight him again.
Ileen exuded the same helplessness she had felt back in the fight club. He was being chased by something he couldn't outrun. And she couldn't protect him. But she didn't want that to be true.
"Don't say that. It's never too late." Ileen wasn't ready to accept his death. He seemed to see it as inevitable, but she wouldn't let that happen. Not while she could still fight. Her deep despair stemmed from his emotions. That he was giving up. That he accepted that it was possibly over for him.
Tears of despair and anger rose to her eyes. How she hated this situation! Hate, distrust and anger was everywhere. Nowhere was safe. It slowly poisoned the soul and dragged everyone with it into the shadows. In what world did they live that one had to be afraid of everything and everyone, that one could not go to a stupid ball without being cursed, burned, hurt or even killed?
She clenched her hands into fists and fought the emotions. But she had not expected what came next. Victor would turn to her, another acceptance that his life was coming to an end and would be over again here today.
She felt his hand on her cheek and a moment later his lips met hers. It was not about her for sure. It was about him. It was most likely not connected to her as a person. He didn't want to be with her or wasn't attrackted to her. It was probably just his way to say goodbye to the world. But Ileen didn't think about any of this. She was too overwhelmed with the situation.
It was the first time anyone had ever kissed her, unless one counted the violent crashing together of her and Percival's mouths as they had fallen down the stairs. Ileen had never thought about what that would feel like, but she had assumed for some time that it would be Percival who would be her first kiss. She had a strong connection to the blonde and even though she was not ready to admit that yet, she had feelings for him.
It felt pleasant, but at the same time like goodbye. Ileen stood motionless, too caught off guard to react in any way.

Serena attempted to chase Erin down. Every moment made her feel so much worse. She was literally chasing the girl down, trying to cast an awful spell at her. She was literally hunting Erin down. Or at least, that was what it felt like. Everything she did, she was doing it because she was convinced that this might actually help her - that there was a chance that this would prevent Erin from turning into a hag, from being eaten alive by slugs on the inside, from having her reflection trapped in a mirror... They had not managed to find the mirror, nor had they managed to free her but that did not mean she was going to give up. She had to do something, anything.
But Erin was fast. Much faster than Serena and Pizza where. She had to be - people were literally attacking her left, right and centre. Her eyes watered a little as the panic flooded through every fibre of her being. The longer this took, the more unlikely they were to stop this. If the boy was right, Erin did not have much time and she was scared. If they could not stop this... she had no idea what would happen. She did not want anyone else to get hurt, of course she did not. But murder? That was not happening. She refused to allow someone to kill another person. Being a hag was not a reason she had to die. No one should have to die, solely because of who or what they are. But if Erin attacked them... and they fought back... Her hands shook at the thought of what might happen. This was not okay.
Serena had no idea what happened. People were throwing spells everywhere. She did not know who was throwing them or why anymore but her eyes remained fixed on Erin, trying to chase her down. They had to stop her. It was that simple. Her eyes widened as she spotted the Slytherin suddenly stop. Erin Ryan had finally been stopped. It was now or never. Hugh was right... "Spray that repellent on as many as you can..." She instructed the girl from earlier (Tyranni) who she had thrown her slug repellent can at. Whether or not the girl listened to her was irrelevant to Serena. It was the wise thing to do but there was no time for that now. Her feet were already moving. Towards Erin.
She made her way closer to Erin, trying to close the distance to avoid missing this spell. There was no room for failure right now. There was no hesitation as her wand lifted. She did not have time to hesitate anymore, nor did she have the choice, "Slugulus Eructo," She whispered, pointing it straight at the unmoving Erin. She wanted to apologise but what was the point? Erin would not believe her. But she was truly sorry that she had to do this. This was not what she wanted to be doing. Nonetheless, she apologised, "I'm so sorry, Erin... I promise... this, all of this... is to help you," She would say, even though she had no idea if the Slytherin could hear her.
She heard someone scream something about how the hag must die. She did not know who but they were not going to touch Erin, who she was assuming was the one who was being spoken about here. "NO! STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM HER,", She attempted to dash forward, trying to stop the boy who was approaching Erin with what looked like a knife but she was unlikely to get there fast enough. There was no time but she raised her wand, ready to cast the next spell at the boy (Hess). If he killed her... No. No. NO. No one deserved this. No one. Serena did not care if Erin was a full-fledged hag, she did not deserve to be stabbed in the bac- neck. Pizza would dash for the boy, as though he understood his owner's desire to stop him. He might not have been a slug but Pizza would attempt to bite him nonetheless.
What had Erin actually done wrong? Being a hag did not mean she needed to die. The worst thing she had done was bite people. People who were attacking her. It was self-defence, even if they were trying to help. If she did not trust that then she was just trying to protect herself. Hags were deemed as cruel, they were seen as monsters, they ate children... and sure, they needed to be stopped if the latter was true but Erin had not done that. And there was an azkaban that was meant to punish those who did evil. But right now? The real monster was not the hag in the room. It was the evil who thought they were justified in murdering her for something she had not even done, for something she may never do... There was no guarantee Erin was even going to become a hag. Even if it happened to everyone infected by hag slugs before, there was no guarantee that this case would be the same. There was a chance, as small as it might be, that it would be different this time. That Erin would not turn. That even if she did, she would not do anything worthy of being called 'cruel'. That chance might have been small but Serena was not giving up.

With Bridget's declaration Marion was a hag, whether new information to her or confirmation of something suspected, Santario called for Professor Lécuyer. Evidence to support Bridget's interpretation of those lines in her letter, and they could no doubt use an adult's help, but what really caught her attention was her next words. There was an intensity to her that Bridget had never seen before, different than the determined focus of a duelling match. Hag or not, the words were concerning. What was going on with her? "Santario..." It wasn't a true confrontation, words maybe too quiet to even go noticed. Her brows furrowed in concern. Sure, she kind of wanted to see Marion burn, but how far were they going to go?
But now was not the moment to stand idly pondering that. For now, she would focus on her objective of neutralizing the threat, and then she could worry about what happened next. The magic built up within her to a crescendo, pushed near-perfectly through the wood of her wand. It was well-placed, too, probably better than most of her casts under pressure, but Marion managed to twist out of the way. One by one, their spells were avoided: Thomas' revealing efforts, Santario's fire, another Freezing Charm from a masked figure. Someone tried to jump on her--who, she couldn't quite make out at the speed it happened--but they also met nothing but air. That was probably a good thing, actually, if her hypothesis about Marion's magic requiring physical contact was right.
Worry at their inability to land a hit on her might have built then had Marion not turned to flee. Drama continued all around, including a confusing number of Slug-Vomiting Spells, and perhaps the hag was using that as cover. Whatever the case, she was getting away. Something of a relief at that very moment, but if she got away, what consequences would there be down the road? But what were they going to do? With her running, distance quickly increasing, the chances of landing a spell were slim. And they couldn't just follow a hag, away from the safety of a crowd...
Or they could. After he'd charged at Marion the second he saw her, she didn't even know why she was surprised when Thomas turned, stating that he had to finish this, before chasing after. That had Santario running after him, and maybe Howard and Flash had heard his summons; she'd completely lost track of Flash in the chaos. The darkening skies, clouded skies dropping the first taste of rain, didn't help her quick attempt to see if he was nearby. Raindrops landed on bare skin, wet and cold and promising a less-than-pleasant ball as if it wasn't already. Why hadn't she brought a sweater? But that was a fairly irrelevant concern at the moment. She had to make up her mind on what to do, and quickly.
She had little desire to be involved in whatever Thomas had in mind, and she had a good idea of what that might be. It wasn't likely 'finishing this' meant a pleasant exchange of farewells, and Santario had mentioned killing her several times. Bridget was not mentally prepared for such a thing. She really should have considered this earlier, now not the time to wrestle with morality or whatever. But the thing was, if such severe ends were where this went, wasn't it just as likely, if not more so, that Marion would kill Thomas and Santario? She was fairly certain a two on one against a hag made for terrible odds. Besides, her commitment to them might be more nebulous, but Flash could be going and he was her friend and ally, a promise existing there to have his back even if it hadn't been said outright.
The best decision she could come to in that moment, sentiment and logic cobbled together, was to follow. That way she could step in if needed, and how could she live with herself if something happened, if she'd stayed behind? Leaving Thora behind at the Masquerade Ball two years ago had been bad enough and nothing had even happened to her. She could at least be back-up. And so, mind made up, she gripped her wand a little tighter and raced after.

Finally, the day Dancelos had been waiting for came. Of course, everyone was excited about this day, but her was different. Maybe it was because of her like for Fedya, which she couldn't even explain to herself.
The person looking at her now would have thought she was a sweet and delicate girl. She had turned into a soft girl with her plain white dress. She actually wanted to wear a dark dress, but changed her mind when she saw this dress that her grandmother had sent. She knew she liked old-fashioned dresses and had sent this dress two weeks before prom. It was a simple and beautiful dress, but her mind changed when Dancelos approached the prom place, her dress was too plain for the other girls. Her face fell a bit because of her dress. At that moment, she heard shouts and fights from the side. Seriously,do they fight even today! While trying to get away from there, she suddenly found herself among people kissing. NO,NO! It was disgusting to watch and not something she wanted to do today. She immediately tried to get rid of the couples, bumping into some of them and then 'Are you blind!' the words were heard.
Finally she came out and straightened her dress, and when she looked up she realized that Fedya was waiting for her. She wasn't going to lie, he was really handsome. The suit gave him a different look. She straightened her hair, which was not in place even today, and immediately went to him.

Henry watched the skin repair itself, the bleeding ceased and soon it appeared like their was never ever injury.
Henry nodded at the spellwork, he have come a long way with from failing at casting the healing spell at his first duel to healing someone during a ball. Looking up, Henry watched Gray move away as he spoke"try not to die, maybe use whatever brain you have left next time," the third year didn't spend to much time on the boy as he turned toward Selim. A part of him wanting to hex him in the face or claw his arm off, still remembering Selim's assault on him a few months back bur he didn't. He remained calm and civil....
"I never expected you to be on for healing but thanks, I guess for helping wirh Gray," Henry spoke and turned, scanning the area for anyone else wjonwas bleeding or injured. The teen chose not to involve himself in the chaos or aim his wand at another besides from healing, choosing to help make sure no one died that night. Even if someone of his classmates annoyed him....
However none seemed to be injured, Henry considered making his exit now since a large potion of the group left. The two slytherin dueling co captains and the pressumrd hag being a part of the leaveing.
Henry had plans for that night, he had to leave soon. Looking at the rain falling, Henry remembered Alexa. The teen couldn't leave her, especially with the weather of the night. Plus he wanted to see her that night, it would be the best part of his night... which currently didn't have a lot of competition.
Henry turned on his heels to go back to the fall ball to collect Loki then leave when a older but shorter hufflepuff caught his ear. Henry looked with blue eyes, the scene didn't lool good and Henry took a step toward her when he watched her aim her wand at the person who was biting everyone.
Henry looked out the exit, he really did need to go but also he could help a little bit as he aimed his wand for the girl. Took a breath. Calmed his nerves.

There was no denying that the aura surrounding the group of first years, was a good mixture of a fiery fury that seemed to be heating up by the second, and a particular level of confusion that Enrico thought (and wished) he created. Had there already been some sort of meddling within the group, the Hufflepuff was not aware, he seemed to be the last person to arrive, regardless of how unexpected his presence was. However, if he was to distinguish some of the looks that appeared in front of him, he could see that there had not been a lot of happy faces - especially on the red-head, whom he could, surprisingly enough, remember.
They shared a train compartment together. Their conversation had been an interesting one, and the only reason why he did remember her was that she was the first witch (other than himself) whom he had encountered. Like… ever! Naturally, he thought of it as a pretty cool dynamic. What bothered him the most though was that she looked upset. It was a party - no one should be looking so sad while attending a party. It was one of the best events of the season - Halloween - with all the candy available, games and pranks to be played and pulled, and activities to participate in, what could possibly make Liana Kerr’s night so miserable?
Had his attention not been grasped by another girl, trust and believe that Enrico would have loved nothing more than to be filled in on what was going on. However, being described as ‘looking like a Kleenex’ was probably the oddest of things. Really weird idea and concept, had an element of surprise in it too. The grin on the boy’s mouth said it all - except no one could see his face, and he spoke with a muffled voice, and though he kept a rather loud voice at all times, he tried his best to speak at a higher and louder pitch, just so he could make certain that he was being understood.
“A kleenex?!” He retaliated, sounding mad at first, but then, he laughed it off. “My mum used those! I guess you’re right though, the flows and bits at the end collaborate perfectly together.” Enrico described what was only but a piece of fabric as the richest, most glamorous dress on earth.
“But yes! A ghost costume! Quite fitting right? I’m surprised by the lack of creativity in most outfits tonight - quite frankly disappointing. You’ve got something going though,” he pointed his finger at the girl who matched his outfit with kleenex. Did he get the reference? No. But he sure knew it was from somewhere-something.
“Of course I remember you! Hard to forget a redhead… that’s what my mum says. Dunno why, I guess she just likes pumpkins.”
“But glad to make everyone’s acquaintance,” especially of the boy who informed him of the food available just a little bit further along the way.
“I don’t know about the actual ghosts… not that I’m not a real one. Boo! You know? But I’ll go mad if I don’t satisfy my cravings right now.” Enrico’s belly roared louder than a starving lion as he imagined the trailing juice of syrup off a pancake.
Rico couldn’t help but agree more with what the girl-in-a-rather-odd-but-cool costume had just suggested. Things had already seemed to be awkward for the lot, maybe all they needed was a little bit of distraction and the world could continue spinning. The Hufflepuff excitedly pointed his fingers at the girl who went by the name Vale, so to further support her idea. She sounded like someone who could punch him in the face and he’d thank her for it.
“I know I just joined you but--” he cleared his throat, pretending he was kindly asking for permission to proceed and enjoy the night with them, fully aware that he’ll accompany them regardless “--I’m sure we can resolve whatever intensity we’re facing as quickly as sugar in water if we were to take a walk.” He concluded with a happy tone that did not fit the vibe.
And yes, it was ‘we’ already.

Galton was in the zone as he tore through the crowd spraying repellent; creating a soon-to-be slug kill-box. He was so entranced in fact, that it took a moment to register that he'd almost been the one puking slugs. A flash of magic had whizzed by, the small boy side-stepped out of reflex as he continued to spray. His gaze shot up in a questioning manner when he fully realized what had just happened. He shot accusatory glaces around at those nearby and finished up his ring. It was time.
Hugh's directions rang clear through the brisk night's air. Erin had been caught, and they needed to act. He was pondering where to use his remaining repellent... Another ring, or some cologne for the participants? That was until he saw his friend re-appear. The stupid, stupid boy had a knife. Whatever Hugh had done to his must have left some real damage to have him try something so stupid.
"Jürgen, NO!" was all he could think to shout. Galton's legs moved before he'd even though about it. If Jürgen was to make it close to Erin, his knife would not be finding her flesh. It would find Galton's (or Galton hoped at least). If Hess was stopped however, Galton would use the time to spray those closes' clothes with some repellent.

Close. Again. But being close wasn't enough. A small margin wasn't good enough- not in an instance where every action taken was critical- because the smallest margin could make a world of difference. It could make a sure person fail, when failure was not an option. Xailah extended, her body reaching and stretching, her form curving. She cut through the air like a wisp, and fluttered to the ground like such. Down she drifted, with the wings of a moth. It wasn't until she felt the grass beneath her, she realized she had failed. She failed to grab Marion. And Marion had fled.
Xailah was a steely one. Cold and calculating, her warmth hidden carefully beneath layers of sleet, for her own protection. But that didn't mean she was completely immune to the power of emotions. Because, quite frankly, she wasn't. Metamorphmagi were emotional creatures by nature; sensitive by design. Especially the young and untrained ones- the ones still figuring themselves out. Emotions were what made them dangerous. Feelings- anger, sadness, resentment, sentimentality, fear- could make the iciest of creatures, fall out of line. Make the most tame animal go feral.
Xailah was starting to see red; this simmering, bitter hate bleeding into her vision. It made her skin feel like it was on fire. Her chest burned as if her core had been replaced with brimstone; her bodice constricting; she felt like she could spit fire. Xailah didn't know if Marion was the same hag from the first two balls she had attended. She would have remembered the face she had used, and she thought the girl had been a bit taller. Or maybe she had only seemed tall because Xailah was so small when the encounters happened. Actually, Xailah wasn't even certain Marion was a hag, but such a reveal would have explained a lot. She took a shot. Chose to hook onto the shallow accusation. Chose to believe the frantic words and act accordingly. A hag was a hag. She couldn't allow this one to escape. Not again.
Xailah pushed herself up from the ground. She looked between the space Marion had fled through, and the scuffle going on behind. For someone who often knew what she wanted- or at least thought she knew- she did have a occasional habit of being indecisive, when faced with moral dilemmas. She could chase after some floozy blonde, perhaps confront her, maybe end her if the fates allowed. Or, she could stay behind and try to save a different floozy blonde- one that needed all the help she could get. Xailah let out a frustrated snort. She understood what she had to do now. She hated it, but what was happening in the moment was much more important- the witch hunt for Marion would have to wait another night. She would have to let the hag escape. Again. Erin had been immobilized, she could no longer bite or try to run. A relief that might have been, if not for one other student. That idiot boy Jürgen Hess would reveal a knife; the handle clasped tightly in his scrawny hands; the blade flashing a silver smile dotted with misty raindrops. "JÜRGEN HESS!" Xailah spat with a fiery hiss, a suppressed German accent slipping. She hoped to draw the boys attention her way, if only for a second. Her stomach dropped. No. This was not how Erin's story would end. The lioness would not allow it.
