Roleplaying as Lee Ye-jun from Beauxbatons – Encyclopedia
Violet in English, Red in KoreanYe-jun liked arriving early or precisely on time. Today, he hoped to arrive early but despite his cousin showing him around, he was still somewhat confused by the moving stairs. It probably took time to get used to them and it was his first time visiting Hogwarts so he expected to be forgiven. This simply meant he had to made peace with arriving precisely on time.
Thankfully, he already met his ‘date’ prior to this evening and knew exactly, who to look for. He was still somewhat disappointed that he wouldn’t be spending more time with Eun-ji but they would see each other in summer so he supposed it was okay. The knowledge that his partner was her friend helped a lot too. At least they would have something to talk about before they found some other interesting topics to discuss and although he didn’t have any romantic ideas about her, she was quite pretty young lady. Other than that, Ye-jun knew very little about the girl. She apparently liked to dance, which was not surprising, considering how Eun-ji loved it as well but that was about it. The young wizard himself liked dancing well enough. It was not his passion per se but he enjoyed it and while he was no master, he definitely knew what he was doing. His mother liked to show him off during various social events and those usually required some dancing skills. So yes, he would be okay in that department.
At last, the Beauxbatons student walked in to see the spectacle. He adored the theme and the decorations. It was truly…well…magical. He wasn’t aware of the theme prior to the ball so he just asked his mother to send him a blue suit. Aware of his cousin’s house colours, he thought it might be a nice surprise. Of course, it turned out he wouldn’t be going with her but it was a good suit nonetheless. Ah…there she is. He finally spotted the girl he was looking for. Carrying himself with confidence Ye-jun approached Lucia, already evaluating her outfit in his head. Being a son of a fashion designer did this to you. He just couldn't help it. The dress didn’t look expensive but it was lovely. Also blue…so they actually matched. He was not expecting that to happen. “Good evening,” he gave a short greeting, making sure he sounded friendly. He was right on time. Unlike him though, the Hufflepuff looked somewhat awkward. Ye-jun supposed, big parties like this were not a common occurrence in her life. The gentleman he was, he just pretended not to notice. “You look lovely.” He added as a matter of fact because she did. It was only right to let her know.
“Just to check, you know this is platonic, right?" Lucia’s remark was somewhat unexpected. He did know but it was a bit strange topic to start on. Ye-jun chuckled quietly. Not in a mocking way of course. He was mostly relieved they were on the same page. “Yes, I’m aware, don’t worry. In all honesty, I don’t make lasting relationships of any kind easily. I would be probably dateless if Eun-ji didn't introduce us.” He admitted immediately. There was no reason to lie. He was confident yes...but he wasn’t a very trusting person. “Still, there is no reason we can’t enjoy the evening as a purely platonic couple. Don’t you agree?” It did look fun and he highly doubted, she would be a bad company considering her friendship with his cousin. Once again pretending not to notice her awkwardness, the boy elected to take a bait and answer her next question instead. “Frog choir? Well that sounds interesting. I say we give it a go,” he smiled as he offered his arm to Lucia. He wouldn’t mind if she declined but in his world, it was a polite thing to do. He would have done so for any other girl during such event. The crowds could be quite dangerous.

No, drawing her wand on Marion was definitely a bad idea. Without a plan, without allies ready to go, it would be purely reckless. People would get hurt, and while she doubted Marion had good intentions being here, Bridget shouldn't be the one to initiate. And many here wouldn't have the context for why. Trying to take on a hag was also probably--no, definitely--far above her skill level. She was just going to have to swallow the boiling hatred down and wait for a better moment.
The hand she'd reached down to the hidden pocket instead smoothed her skirt. Already on edge, she jumped when something touched her arm, pivoting to face the tall boy that had come up on her unnoticed. "Victor!" As her heartbeat slowed, confusion bled in. Dance? Flowers? She accepted the offered bouquet, more out of instinct of something handed to her than with thought behind it. The flowers bright and blue, like his eyes, with purples and whites scattered in between. They were pretty, but she wasn't really sure what to do with them.
"Um, thank you." For the compliment, the flowers, and the box of chocolates, both of which she was now holding, her hands full. When the assailment finally lulled, a frown joined her knitted brows and her mind repeated the past few moments. "Okay, I'm sorry but... what?" The was the most coherent question she could form at the moment. Beyond being unexpected, the flurry of words and movements was not helping. She was not repulsed by him, though she was well-aware he had died. She'd been there for it, and also for when he came back this year. He attended classes, presumably, and now both fourth years, she'd seen him enough to get used to it. The memories of him from the last two months felt separate, though, from the Victor of before. Death was supposed to be final.
But back to the present concern. I am very happy that you and I will have a chance to spend the evening together. Well, that cleared it up. She peeked out at the people around them, dates finding each other. They probably hadn't found out they were coming together after arriving. He hadn't even really phrased it as a question, unless his ask to dance counted. It occurred to her this was a chance, extended with the flowers and chocolate, to not spend the night alone. But not a very typical chance. Why would he ask her, anyway? They barely knew each other and she'd mostly watched on as things went horribly wrong last time he was alive. She'd vaguely sided with him the first night back, but mostly to the extent of making sure her peers didn't send him right back to the grave. Besides, he and Marion could very well still be friends, which meant they might be working together, and it was safe to assume anything to do with Marion was dangerous. And what if, like Marion, he was something else, something not human? With life an exception to Gamp's Law...
Or he might not be. Probably an outcast, maybe he was just desperate for a friend. Maybe she could chalk the odd phrasing and lack of true question up to nerves, or something. But was it worth in the risk? Granted, so long as she remained aware of her surroundings and didn't let him pull her off anywhere alone, she shouldn't need to fear the chance he had an ulterior motive.
In the end, it was a cry of Verdimillious that made her decision incredibly easy. Attention snapped towards the source; Thomas was doing what she'd wanted to, though she would have chosen a different spell, going straight for Marion. Things were definitely about to go down and they were barely five minutes into the ball. Thinking fast, she turned back to Victor. Especially if he was with Marion, she needed to try to get him away. "Okay. The dance floor is in the tent, I should think. I'm just going to find somewhere to put these down"--these being the flowers and chocolate--"and I'll meet you there?" She tried her best at a smile, hoping he'd go for it. Either way, she'd be stepping away, ostensibly to find a nice corner to empty her full hands.
In reality, she would dump them on the leaf-covered ground and draw her wand. Looking up, the situation had already deteriorated. Marion was coming at Thomas, and she didn't need to wait to know it was for nothing good. With little time to choose how best to approach this, she went with the first thing that came to mind: get her away from him. "Depulso!" She could only hope it would land, but she was a decent distance away. Not that she was particularly keen on closing that gap. Either way, she would yell at Thomas, "Get out of there!"

• Creatures of the Lake •Sylvie was not excited about the Fall Ball. Not because she didn't like to dance or didn't like parties, but because she'd not known about it until just tonight. Call her oblivious perhaps, but the posters and chit chat hadn't reached her little ears about this year's Samhain festivities.
Until moments ago, she and her best friend, Thomas Baines were gallivanting around the Great Lakes, trying to dunk each other beneath the murky waters as to feed one to the giant squid living within its depths... See a few mermaids, maybe. You know, as children do. They talked about how they'd miss trick or treating another year in a row between gurgles of lake water as their heads went under. Perhaps they were getting a little old for such a tradition, but they'd missed it each year since they were 11! To the young Gryffindor, it simply was not fair. Blast the rumors that spoke of needles and wicked substances in candy on Hallows Eve. Sylvie sure didn't care. Why would anybody else? SHE'S had no needles in her candy... To her, perhaps, this was a universal experience. The world practically revolved around her, after all.
It didn't.
But it felt like that to her sometimes...
ANYWAY.
The two eventually heard some commotion coming from the quidditch pitch on their way back form their dip in the lake. Of course, the two being ever the curious ones went to check it out, only to be met with a dazzling display of spooky autumnal decor decorating the school's grounds. It seemed there were many festivities to take part in other than what was happening in the pitch... Perhaps it wouldn't be a bust this year for the little Gryffindor!
She clearly was NOT dressed for the occasion, compared to some; Dressed in her uniform, tie undone, robe rolled up and tied around her waist, she was very underdressed. Not to mention, soaked in lake water and smeared heavily with muck from the lake's bed. Her hair was unkempt as usual, with the odd additions of water plants nestled within. No matter. It's not like she noticed her appearance, anyway.
"Thomas! Look! A mud pit! We should go after we see what's up in the pitch!" Sylvie practically shrieked, ever the excitable one.Action: Entering the festival

Oh gosh. Other people were getting involved. She felt a wave of embarrassment and awkwardness hit her when she heard another girl get involved, saying something that was actually kind of... unnecessarily mean - whilst also pointing out that Serena was an 'elder'.
Serena went to argue, claiming that she did not - in fact - pay for it. Technically she gave him the payment, sure. But she said there was no deal! No deal had been made! Therefore, it was just a gift, not a payment. Luckily for her, she did not need to say anything though as he seemed to back away when she claimed she had a date. Right, Pizza Rat to the rescue once more!
She would blink as he offered her candy, slightly confused why he was just giving it away after 'working' so hard for it. But she was not going to argue with it as he seemed to be offering her an out. She sighed softly, feeling kind of bad for literally trying to flee from him but his hand holding threw her off completely. That and she did not expect him to literally run after her the other day, when they first met, so she was already a little off-put by the whole thing. Nonetheless, she did not mean to be blunt, she was just feeling very awkward by the whole encounter and slightly annoyed and just wanted to leave.
"I'm sorry for being rude but sure, thank you, I'll take some candy," She responded with a weak smile as she took the candy that he offered her. Pocketing the unopened sweets into the pocket of her jeans, she then picked up the rat from her shoulder and carefully tucked him into her top shirt pocket, underneath the jumper, as she walked off in search of someone or something. She would probably eat it later but for now, she had something important to do. Gideon's appearance had kind of distracted her for the moment but she made her way, finally, to the eel activity.

French in #438B67, English in #4A6F79=outfit: ReducioHogwarts wasn’t exactly renowned for being a safe residential spot for the curious scholars of the foreign schools. Infamous for its balls-gone-wrong and terrifying scandals involving ex-students, Lena didn’t so much as bat an eye at the rumours Caradoc Browne had provided the Beauxbatons students with upon arrival, just one week prior. No doubt there were some strange characters among the teaching staff; you’d have to be, to teach at a school like this one. Perhaps this was why she felt such an intense sense of anticipation building up inside her as the Fall Ball neared, quietly biding her days inside her cabin or exploring her new, temporary home.
It seemed as though the dress code hadn’t been thoroughly conveyed. That - or there wasn’t one. Somehow, Lena had arrived at the event from the wrong direction, trampling through mud all the way. With the goal of minimising damage to her outfit, she had taken to rolling up the bottoms of her pin-stripe trousers. They were already freckled with spots of mud, mud which had already completely congealed over her shoes. She watched the ground carefully as she walked, stepping over vegetables and fungi as she journeyed towards what sounded like the heart of the event. At some point, she made the decision to slip one of her shoes off and slam it against a nearby tree, spraying dirt in such a way that any passerby would have found themselves unfortunately covered. With so many foreign students around, Lena was going to have to learn to apologise in a good handful of languages...
"Please show your elder some respect. She has no desire to be constantly attended to by anyone - especially you, you little toerag."
Ah-ha! Lena could recognise that iconic Franglais from a mile away. To be honest, Celeste’s English was more than likely on point, but Lena was nowhere near fluent, so she couldn’t tell. Her dark eyes scanned the crowd before settling on a tall blonde girl, who sparkled from the tips of her glittering tiara to the soles of her shimmering flats, pink ruffles all the way down. She didn’t exactly blend in to the Autumnal vibe, rather like a very out of place princess, but she looked cool. Also angry. Lena took off towards her on one foot.
Once within earshot, she began to speak, though it was broken up by the effort of jumping one-legged.
“I thought it was-” Hop. “-going to be me who-” Hop. “-looked the most-” Hop. She came to a halt besides Celeste, dropping her now significantly less muddy shoe on the hard grass and jamming her foot back in. She rolled her shoulders back, looking up at the other girl. “Out of place.”
They were now skulking in the shadows, surveying the scene from afar. Lena glanced over the various attractions. A matchmaking booth, some activity related to eels situated roughly where she'd arrived from, rows of vegetables, and, of course, the ball itself, sound tracked by Hogwarts very own frog choir. How quaint!
“You’ve gotten into a fight already then? Who were you terrorising?” Lena raised her gaze towards Serena, who was currently fighting off Gideon and attempting to move towards whatever the 'eel' activity was. A woman with strange taste. Nice. “Ah, I see. A rescue mission. Mmm, poor her,” Lena continued to watch on, cat-like in her unreadable silence, wondering if this might be the escalating event. Nothing ever went right, something always went wrong here... But was it too soon? Yes - eventually, Serena had managed to subdue Gideon, and he took to desperately offering her sweets, which she accepted as she left.
Oh. Sweets!
“Excuse me? Ah, wait, excuse me?”
Lena waited for the boy to acknowledge her. She'd even been as thoughtful as to correct herself in English, if he for some reason couldn't figure it out. She would raise her hand to draw attention to herself.
“You said you could give them to everybody, no? Well…” with a very small, sly smile, she gestured to herself and Celeste. They were part of everybody. “...we have, ah, now been witness to your…" She didn't know the word, but raised an eyebrow coldly so that he'd get the picture. "...harrassment of that girl. So you must give us the sweets.”
It was only fair.

What was all the hubbub about a Fall Ball anyhow?
Thomas Baines had kept his ear to the ground, trying to discover the secrets and mysteries of Hogwarts... However, between his new responsibilities as a dueling captain, keeping an eye on a certain Callie Jensen to ensure that she wasn't dying at every turn or, as Lear might believe, lurking in wait for the perfect moment to strike her down, and trying to keep his good friend @Sylvie O'Neill from doing a pirouette off the gosh darn deep end, well. It just didn't get done! Somehow, the young Ravenclaw entirely missed the fact that there was a fancy event this evening, and somehow he didn't piece it together despite the fact that there was some form of event in this format every single fall. For crying out loud, it was his third year, and he even attended the ball the previous year!
What he lacked in observational skills and common sense, he hardly made up for in tact. On the topic of his Gryffindor friend, the one he'd been hanging around with more often than usual (slowly contracting whatever illness of the mind that had been driving her insane), Thomas looked over to her and groaned. "Man, I thought all the ruckus was going to be something cool. Like, all the monsters in the woods coming out to eat a bunch of us... Guess it's just a stupid dance." He rolled his eyes in mild irritation, before looking down at the rather ordinary school uniform he was currently sporting, dripping wet and full of plenty of aquatic plants native to the Great Lake. His outfit was drenched, sticking to him and further accentuating his frail frame and shivering. Needless to say, Thomas stuck out, though it wasn't as if he was upset about this fact.
The boy wrung the water out of his robes, then brushed them off a bit in an attempt to make himself look at least mildly presentable, even going as far as to tighten the tie that had been loosened in the roughhousing he and his friend had been undertaking, though the gesture didn't really make much of a difference. Perhaps his garments were marginally less wrinkled... Though, that was almost certainly a stretch. Thomas' gaze drifted about in search of something mildly interesting, or at least something to pique his interest long enough to keep him from immediately leaving. He pointed out to what appeared to be... Barrels? And quite a few puddles, of course.
"Doesn't look all colorful and fancy like the rest of this festival does." An ideal scenario, really, he always felt out of place when people were all dressed up. Thomas didn't want to be the one to say let's goof off in the stagnant pools instead of going to the ball, he had an image of maturity and poise he wanted to uphold, so he was hoping Sylvie would leap at the opportunity to ditch and get absolutely covered in mud.He gratefully sighed, casting a skeptical glance over to the festivities before smiling at Sylvie. "Sure, let's check it out. If it's lame, though, we should leave..." Thomas was visibly relaxed, in higher spirits than he had been in weeks in the company of his good friend. Why hadn't they hung out much their second year...? Something to do with dueling and schoolwork, he figured, but now that the Gryffindor was in the sport and he himself had stopped caring so much about his classes, they'd found much more time."Thomas! Look! A mud pit! We should go after we see what's up in the pitch!"

A great looming darkness would come over her. It was a shadow cast by the part giant. There was something terrifying about the gentle giant. It was something only a small person, like perhaps Serena Towers or a similar midget would understand. The implied threat of their very existence. The fear of vulnerability. He terror of failure, weakness, subjugation. That was the core of her trepidation, the fact that she did not believe she could win and with the mind of a beast, of a predator, it was primal instinct that dictated her needs, her desires and her fears.
“Can we have a talk?”
Erin would freeze like a hare in the field. If she was not moving she would be unseen, like the mighty bounding rabbit.
“There are some things I hope to avoid tonight.”
Drat he saw her still.
She tensed. The last time they conversed it did not hurt. Yet the fearless youth was so full of the very terror she had rejected. It was not the awesome and terrible presence that seeped from the pores of the dark creatures of Hogwarts like a miasma that caused her to run in terror. No, it was Hugh she feared. She understood it as the curtain had started to close why she feared what no other had. Why Hugh? Did size truly matter that much?
Contrary to the lies some might say -- yes, size very much mattered but it was not size alone. There were others as strong as she was, stronger in fact. She did not fear Howard in the least, if anything his presence agitated her. No, it was the silent threat of his very existence coupled with his scent. There are three things all must fear: the raw power of the elements unmolested and uncontrolled, a night with no moon when the forest shifts and sways, and the anger of a good man.
A primal sense of meal versus threat -- it betrayed logic to fear Lowe yet she did. Not that he ever wronged her. He worked through the madness, yet the world was still a bleak crimson haze that throbbed.
"You're..." she struggled to say something, the words came out itchy. Strangled and halting. "So very... terrifying," she admitted, her body tense and cool as a thin mist of sweat started to form.
Her hunter would be looking at them, Hess was it? He was staring among others.
“Er… I know this isn't easy to do,”
Nothing was easy. Not really.
“But, when trouble comes knocking tonight, I'll need you to trust me for once.”
She was conflicted, the statement in and of itself was a red flag. A request preemptively for trust meant that it was expected that she would not trust his choice. That she would be somehow opposed. "Why?" The only inquiry she would be able to muster before Thomas LeStrange kicked a proverbial hornet's nest.
If there was a flash, if Thomas' green sparks went off a flash of green would briefly illuminate the changeling. It burned. It burned her eyes like smoke. She squinted, closed her eyes and her hands would raise to cover her face instinctively. She did not like the bright lights.
If the green sparks was successfully cast --
The oversized plaid button down covered her scars, they would have been otherwise numerous. the only hidden truth revealed would be the glancing evidence of something moving beneath her skin which was barely perceptible, like shadows cast only the darkness came from within. Like serpents, only Hugh knew otherwise if the rumors were true -- not worms, not snakes, bt something that wiggled and writhed. Slugs.
If the light did not manifest, she would hear the name of the spell cast -- Verdimillous. Gid dammit Thomas!
“It's beginning, I see.”
"What's... hapPening!" A confused changeling would retort in a panicked cry. She could not see past the human wall.
“Guess I'm playing the part of rock friend tonight.”
Rock friend ran away. Rock friend knew too much. She would taking a shaky step away from Hugh. Away from the noise, the chaos. "It's you that needs to run," her voice quavered as she gave a warning of her own. It was in part a threat, in part a warning, in part an honest assertion. The change would take her soon, of what consequence that meant for those around her. These people to whom she was drawn to on the eve of her change. Her terrible transformation.
She would try to look around Hugh's enormous backside. What was he hiding, her hand would blindly search for her wand. it was in a massive pocket no frilly dress would have ever had. Was Thomas making out with some chick and setting off fireworks with his wand. What a fucking attention monger. The truth of the matter would escape her for the moment, had she know Thomas was very likely going to be eaten alive she might have had a different reaction. Instead she would grab Hugh's shirt with her bony hand and tug at it. "What's happening. Why. Who." Too much noise, overstimulated and agitated. "Do you have rock friend?"

Things were going pretty well for Victor Moore, he found the girl and did what he was supposed to. He smiled brightly and offered her a lovely arrangement of flower corpses for her amusement and aesthetic. Be assertive. Be confident. Be perfect. If he did everything right, nothing would go wrong. He could be better, no the best Victor.
"Okay. The dance floor is in the tent, I should think. I'm just going to find somewhere to put these down"
"I have other things," he started to protest. She had not given him a chance! It was already falling apart. His inner psyche screamed in panic. This was off-script. In his mind's eye she piled the things on, she was super excited and enthusiastically accepted. His imagination sorta skipped the finding water part. Maybe she just dropped everything in his daydream and they started dancing. Why are there so many additional steps!
"and I'll meet you there?"
She smiled, smiling was good... She was going for it! "Y-yeah, of course," he stammered in agreement. "But I-I got these other things,"[/b][/color] He uselessly offered them but she had already started to walk off to deposit his tributes. She probably should have waited for him to walk off before she just dropped the flowers and chocolates on the ground. His gut dropped with the chocolates and the flowers. He felt like he had just been decked, hard by an unseen force. "I..." his eyes cast in another direction. She was not listening, she had gone elsewhere so he muttered it to nobody in particular, himself included. "Nevermind," he exhaled in a small voice. He pocketed the trinket and let the corsage fall to the ground.
It would only be then that she would notice Marion had a date. Wasn't she all over that Alexander guy? Well, that was last year he supposed. Well, they seemed like a... nice couple he supposed. In truth, he was not a fan.
It was then that he would see Bridget storm the duo, her wand drawn. The rejected youth would draw his wand also. "Marion, look out!" He cried a warning of his own.
"Depulso!"
"Immobulus!" He would shout in reply, brandishing his wand also. If he hit, if he failed it mattered not as he stormed towards the girl who very briefly he thought would have been his date. "What the hell is the matter with you! Let Mary and whatshisface" Thomas "enjoy their evening you reckless freak!" he was angry, a far cry from his try-hard, hopeful and nervous demeanor but moments earlier. Marion was his friend. They had been friends for years and while there would be no love lost if every guy that looked at Mary for too long turned to a pile of salt or ash but he wanted her happy and if it was was cliche douche number 4 then so be it.

Thus far his date was a no-show, it would be a lie to claim that Jürgen Hess was unfussed, unconcerned and not disappointed. But perhaps it would be for the best. Coming to this ball with a rather lovely date, Tyranni Whitethorn came with its risks also. He had an objective at this ball also -- to put Erin Ryan down. A rabid dog, a grievously wounded beast. The favor he was about to do for the world.
He would see her enter, as stealthy as a drunken rhino. She was not going to be hard to track and the moment she is alone, that would be the end for her. Thankfully her twisted appearance, her staggering gait and her eccentric attire meant her contemporaries would give her a wide breadth. As skittish as she might be on the grounds, there were so many in such close proximity.
When he saw Hugh approach Erin and he palmfaced. You kind idiot, she is doing to eat you in a matter of hours! Thanking Merlin, soundless lip service, he would rush towards Hugh the indomindable wall protecting the girl from... green lights? The changeling was not even involved in that conflict. There was no need.
Hugh-- what did that monster do to you...?
"Hugh!" Hess would cry out his name. was he under some sort of spell? Exactly how much danger was the sweet fool actually in? He would search for his wand and point it at Erin. "Leave Lowe alone," the lanky fourth year demanded. This was not part of the plan, it was supposed to happened out of sight. It was supposed to be done quietly but he was not going to let the monster take a bite out of one of his friends.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.Lani had honestly not expected the festival to look this nice.
She had honestly thought it would look like the annual Fall Festival back in Brighton, with apple bobbing, pumpkin carving, and all that other October stuff they did.
But looking around, this was wayy more than that. It made her even more nervous as she walked to the tent holding the Fall Ball. Meeting Miles was already nerve-wracking enough, but the amazing decor was like an extra slap in the face. What if she was late, or too early? What if Miles didn't show up and she just awkwardly stood at the refreshment table for the rest of the evening?
"Suck it up." Lani scolded herself. She had to think more positively. He would be there, and she wouldn't be late (probably). And another good note, he said he would be holding a rose, so that was a plus.
Lani stopped in front of the tent, hearing laughter and commotion inside. She took a deep breath and entered the ball.Mentions: @Miles Thatcher | Action: Entering the ball
