A hurricane seemed to be nearing this round, with both Lucia and Ileen opting for the wind jinx, Ventus as their spell of choice. Lucia's spell hit its mark, Hanako finding himself experiencing the full gust of wind and likely experiencing some pain at it crashed into him. The Slytherin's spell was powerful, bordering upon unprecedented in strength as it erupted from her wand, but it seemed that Lucia saw the very same thing. Though she failed to completely step out of the way of Ileen's incredibly powerful Ventus, the Hufflepuff would avoid the full force of the spell. Unfortunately, it seemed that she would not be so skilled with the next spell, and Hanako was raring to make up for his mistake the previous round. His Incendio Duo found its mark.

"That Ventus was insane," Thomas said, having never witnessed a wind jinx of such strength. Begrudgingly, he noted that it was clear that the Slytherin in question either knew something he didn't (likely) or was simply a better duelist than he was (also likely). There was a lot to learn from every duel he observed, and he hoped to be able to cast at such a level in his future--he strove for such success.

Hello all! @Earl Gray @Lucia Fox @Ileen Knight @Hanako Tone. Sorry for the delay on this post, I've had quite a lot of work to cram in at the start of this week and my HIO responsibilities fell by the wayside.

The wind jinx was one of Ileen’s favorite spells. It had been one of the first spells she had taught herself in the previous year and it had served her well in many duels since. Apparently, she was not the only one who liked that spell. She and her Hufflepuff opponent decided to go with Ventus at the same time.
Lucia still focused down on Hanako and her gust of wind hit the boy, probably causing a lot of pain. Ileen didn’t have time to deal with her partner in that second, but the urge to fight back for him (although she would never admit that) probably made her power even stronger. At least, she felt how powerful her Ventus was, the most powerful one of her doing so far! Take that. No one would use the wind against her team. As much as she wanted to jinx Hanako herself, she didn’t appreciate others attacking him. It was her banter and she needed him to stay with her through that duel.
Sadly, Lucia saw Ileen’s attack and almost managed to dodge. But just almost. And although she couldn’t unload all of the power on the girl, she still took credit for Hanako’s incendio finding its mark. A quick smile was shot to Thomas Baines for praising her casting skills, but there was no time for more.
“Hey, are you okay?” She was more worried about her partner.

"That's all right. Don't worry about it. These things happen. Let's just finish this quickly."

What?! It ‘happens’?!? Hanako wanted to face-palm himself. He was worried, guilty, and even apologised. For what?! Was it so normal during duels to get distracted by beauty? Did this mean Ileen taught Fox was hot as well? ‘I’m telling Percival’, was what he wanted to say but someone else spoke up.

"I'd say you could- join my team-" Lucia said haltingly. "But- I don't think Earl would like to be replaced. Especially not by- his apparent new boyfriend."

With the mention of her k.o-ed comrade, Hanako felt his face slightly burn. He wanted nothing more than a goldfish brain to replace his current one. Perhaps the reduced size would help him forget the memories of what transpired in the earlier rounds. But alas, there was no such available surgery for such a transplant. Anyways, his name was Earl? Like the old lady’s tea? Bye. That costed him some hottie points. It was rich coming from someone literally named flower kid, but would that stop Hana from laughing about other names? No!

“He is not- urgh. Alright look here, Squidward.” it was the first thing that popped into his head. No correlation to the Hufflepuff whatsoever. “ Flattered by your consideration, but boyfriend or not- it’s rather boring to be on the losing side anyway.~” Thats right. No need to think about the k.o-ed hottie. Just take your anger on the other hottie.

Then the round began. As if taking into account that Hufflepuff’s aren’t scared of a little fire, he didn’t hesitate to send one onto Squidward Lucia. He didn’t have time to marvel at his success and her crappy evasion, because he too was hit by a spell of her own. The same one he made fun of Ileen about when she faced the same spell.

“Crap” he hissed under his breath as he wrestled with the wind. This was not good for his lack of pain tolerance. It was only his earlier successful spell that stopped him from taunting Squidward Lucia with much malice.

“Hey, are you okay?”He barely heard his partner as him over the gusting wind around him. “ With all the attention on me? Love it~ “ he tried to send her a quick grin. He would tease her more about her worry about being connected to her crush on him, but with loud wind swirling around you, it wasn’t really the best time to speak more than a few necessary words.

Hanako opted to focus his effort on dodging rather than casting another spell, though it seemed that it would prove a fruitless one as Lucia's Flipendo struck him regardless. Unfortunately for the Hufflepuff, it seemed that she would have to spend the next few moments searching for her wand, as Ileen successfully disarmed her.

The wand flew a good ways away from Lucia; Thomas himself failed to keep an eye on it. It would almost certainly be a bummer to try and find, he noted. Having little to comment on this recent exchange of spells, he opted to remain silent for the time being.

So typical. Of course, he was making a game out of it. Well, two could play that. “Okay, great. I will jinx you next time I meet you in the corridors and give you the attention you desperately want.” She sounded rather amused, but next she knew that another Flipendo was thrown at the boy. He looked like he tried to dodge but the wind made it hard and he got hit very badly. Ileen flinched. She actually was worried about Hanako. All that healer mindset thingy clearly got to her. “Oh crap.” She shook her head and aimed for the Hufflepuff herself, sending a quick Expelliarmus her way.
With some satisfaction, she saw the wand twirling away. Good, that would buy them some time. “You better don't faint on me. I’d hate to swipe you from the stage.” Her eyes were fixed on the sassy boy and if he was paying attention he could feel the good part of truth in her voice.

“ Oh nooooo” he unenthusiastically wailed “ Extra attention from the girl who has a massive crush on me? How awwfulll~. Calm yourself, Knight. A certain someone might misunderstand the attention you give me. “ he retorted back with a face that looked like he was trying not to laugh. No laughing! This bff stealer was the real deal. She’s just annoyingly fun to banter with. Big deal, she's still gross.

Also who’d Squidward?! Uncultured. Hottie points gone. If he didn’t have wind blowing on his face he would’ve given her the stinkiest look he could muster. That's it. The name Squidward was staying.

This round he opted to do something he had never done before in duels. Evade spells. Now it was no secret he wasn’t as fast as Ileen when it came to dodging. Even with wind blowing in every direction, he did try his best to get used to it. Unfortunately, Squidwards Lucia aim was exceptional. Hanako would’ve admired her for it if not for the flipendo that struck him. Being popular is so hard.

Back in Chess Combats, he was more of a… healer than anything. Making sure everyone in his team wasn’t suffering too long from the incendio duo spell he loved using so much. In the end, he wasn’t targeted much. Probably not seen as such a threat. His frail ego could not handle that nicely. But between frail ego and frail health, he definitely did not want to pass out.

He was on the verge of one though. Another few more hits, and he’d be gone. The pain from the Flipendo surged through his body as he let out another painful hiss at the impact. Hell, he was very tempted to just feign a faint right now. Did what Earl. Stop, drop but minus the roll. Why not just close his eyes right now?

“You better don't faint on me. I’d hate to swipe you from the stage.”

Ah, what an annoying voice. Telling him what to do. Once again, he suppressed his laugher, now in fear he’d feel more of his injuries than he already did. “ And let you have all the fun~?” he managed just to lift his head back up to give his partner another grin. “ No, I don’t think so”. It’s too emotionally painful to say that Knight had given him a bit of encouragement. In the end, he’d only say to himself, ‘This is painful, but leaving Ileen with bragging rights that she won the duel herself is even more so’.

To his sweet relief, he noticed that someone lost their little wand. It took all his energy not to burst out laughing. Through all the pain he endured from being so crappy at evading spells, how could he not be ecstatic at this golden opportunity. He silently thanked Ileen for her choice of spell before saying to the wandless Hufflepuff with a bitterly sweet smile, “ Well now then~. Stand still now won’t you, Squidward~?. Will help us a bunch~”

Capitalizing on the fact that Lucia was currently disarmed, the Slytherins descended upon her with no mercy it seemed. Hanako was rather fond of Flipendo, and throughout this particular duel it had yet to fail him! It struck the Hufflepuff dead on. Ileen once again followed up with a Ventus, though this time Lucia was able to evade the spell.

“ Didn’t you hear me earlier, Squiddy? I asked you not to move. Would’ve saved at least a bit of your pride when my spell hit you~” the purest form of mockery slipped out of Hana smoothly, charged by the wonderful sight of a slightly more battered up Hufflepuff. Nothing soothed his physical and emotional wounds more than his opponents on their way in being in a bad state like him. Chess combats - as hellish as it was- had never gotten him this merciless before. Perhaps his better health and lack of popularity in his earlier duels had a lot to do with it.
