XXXTwo bodies falling from brooms to the damp ground below, twin forms contorting in the wind. With Maggie's already frail form, weakened from the former blow at the hands of Gabriella Haworth, she couldn't hope to grab onto both of them. One would do, but two were presumptuous and simply an impossibility at this point in the game. Thus, Maggie was forced to make a decision. Whitethorn or Rainwood? On one hand, if Tyranni hit the ground, they would be down to one chaser. That was just first string, though; Dancelos Grey was on the sidelines waiting for her chance to be put into the game. If Percival ate dirt, there would be one beater and nobody to fill in.

With that, Maggie made her choice. She sailed through the air with deftness, dexterity, a confidence she didn't feel, dove after Percival Rainwood. However, her focus on one thing would be her downfall, as something else, something more sinister, was rocketing for her broom. Jorah Moussa's bludger met its mark, splintering an already damaged broom and sending Maggie flying through the air. Already hanging onto consciousness, the blow proved devastating. Consciousness was fleeting, escaping her when she made contact with hard-packed dirt.

What a game!

With a resounding crack the wild woman would swat the bludger in the direction of the Seeker. If she could take out the seeker, she could dismantle the team. It was an elementary conclusion, one she was utterly certain of. The bludger would wizz through the air, yet in an act of heroic stupidity Gabriella became their stalwart defender.

The bludger would strike her squarely, how could it do otherwise? she would be knocked from the sky, like a swatted mosquito. She would fall, she would not be saved. She did not watch her painful landing, she was never her quarry and the girl was as forgettable as the play.

A few cheat-moves later Cecily and Lavinia were on penalty lap. Their actions were limited considering the fact that the Seeker was sharing a broom with Sylvain. The best they could do was continue to attempt to grab the snitch, returning to their respective brooms a waste of precious time. Aly their Keeper and Jorah the broom-breaker who was apparently having the game of his life were all they had at their disposal to both defend and catch the Seeker should tragedy befall their Seeker.

She wanted to take out their Seeker, it was a statement of pride at this point. There were no other Beaters left on her team, in fact she was running out of teammates. why were they so fragile, their consciousnesses so... fleeting. "I can do it, even if I have to beat through their team!" She insisted but she was rather certain her next attack would be blowing through Jorah if he tried to defend their Seeker.

Holy crap! Had they just taken down three members of the Slytherin team in a single round? Jorah was continuing his ruthless vendetta against the Slytherin team's brooms and Winnie could only stare in amazement as more pieces of wood fell from the sky. "YES! GET THEM, JORAH!" She hollered, jumping up excitedly. The rain would never dampen her spirit! Although she could not help but flinch when she saw Gabriella falling from her broom and towards the ground.

When Avery asked about Rainwood, Flash would shrug. "Don't take it personally." Would be Flash's only advice. It was too early in his relationship with Avery to know if his 'opinions' could be shared. The wrong word said to the wrong person and things quickly got out of hand. Especially in the Snape dorm. Rainwood's time on the field would end up short, as Ravenclaw was taking no prisoners this game. Three brooms gone.

"Oh no..." For a moment, Flash's calm confidence wavered as the team's situation got worse and worse. Nearly everyone on the bench was wringing their hands, no less Miss Dancelos whose turn it was to take to the skies. "Best of luck." He'd try to say to her before she left.

For now, Dan and Koko were still going, but the people left to defend them were dwindling. If Dan fell, there would be no real game for Flash to enter in to, either Dan caught the snitch next round or they were doomed. Well, perhaps that wasn't the right attitude for a second-string to have, but Flash had also not had a single restful night of sleep since school started. He hardly wanted to top it off by having his first game be so dire.

He was surprised when Cash returned to the bench, apparently not hurt enough to go to the hospital wing after all. A shame that didn't mean they could keep playing, another beater would be nice. "Ironwoods."

He'd reply politely, but everyone's eyes were stuck to the game. This was certainly a stark example for the newbies to witness, it couldn't get much more brutal than this. It was good to set the expectation for things to go wrong, but it would still be nice if their captain could pull out a clutch win. He doubted his own appearance on the field would beget any miracles.

The eagles were straight up killing the snakes, literally. Three people were gone just in a split second while the green army was only able to knock one Ravenclaw member. Every bludger made Aurora winced, especially when one of her teammates was collecting more broom shards. “Oh dear.” A bunch of nerds and book lovers turned into beasts at that moment. It was both cool and scary at the same time, there were so many intimidating people in blue and gold attire. Goosebumps all over her body, she never thought that the boy was actually that strong, especially remembering what happened to him in the last match. He was gone as soon as the match began by none other than that blonde Slytherin beater. “Winnie, whatever you do, don’t ever mess with that guy. Never. He’ll snap our spines just with a stare.”

Four players tumbled to the ground in quick succession. One was their valiant Beater Gabriella, who had sacrificed herself to protect Ravenclaw's Chaser-Seeker duo, but three, three were those slippery snakes who were trying so hard to take Ravenclaw down. It was laughable to imagine legless, wingless serpents thieving the throne of the sky from the Eagles. No, it was Ravenclaw's year, Cecily knew, as Slytherin fell one after the other towards the mud below, brooms splintering and shattering in the grey sky.

"Hell yes, @Jorah Moussa! Keep it up, man!" she shouted across the pitch with a grin. Her team's sweeping successes this round didn't quite make up for the fact that their biggest threat, Slytherin's Seeker, was still astride his broom, but it was pretty close.

Don't take it personally? Avery frowned in response. It was really hard not to. No one he had ever encountered in his life behaved like Rainwood did. How could someone be so dismissive, so rude, so ughh! when he had done nothing at all to the boy? Avery huffed, then decided to use his big brain to resolve the issue internally. "Yeah, I guess he's just having a bad day, with the dreary weather and all," he said his thoughts out loud, partly in response to Flash, but mostly to himself, as he tried in vain to grasp at an explanation for the strange and infuriating interaction he just had. Avery would be content to leave it at that. Maybe the older boy would be more receptive to striking up a conversation next time. Each day was a new awakening and a fresh slate. Who knows, Percival Rainwood would probably be bounding up and down the bench with joy next match, with those unfortunate mood swings of his.

"Hey, Aves!" Someone called out to him, and he looked around to see Cash coming towards them to settle down on the bench. Wait, was Cash actually walking and talking after that painful hit? This senior of his was a monster. His ears rang as Cash yelled an encouragement to Maggie. Their lungs were sure working fine. "Cash, how are you? I saw you got hit! Are you sure you're okay?" he asked uncertainly, hardly believing his eyes. And there he was, worried about her just a couple minutes ago, when she was somehow obviously okay now. Wow, magic and Cash Ironwoods were pretty cool, huh? For all he knew, Cash probably thought him a strange little wuss for fussing over her.

But, it was Dancelos' time to fly into the game. "You got this, Dancelos!" he encouraged his fellow first-year teammate.

Both seekers made attempts to catch the snitch, but none succeeded. Maggie was knocked off her broom, and he gasped, hoping for the best. Either way, Cash's thirst for blood was infectious, and he felt himself mustering up his spirits. "YOU CAN DO IT!" he yelled into the rainy darkness.

Bludgers whizzed all around, but after spotting the snitch, that was the main thing on Rivers' mind. Hanging on tight on Sylvains broom, she signaled and readied for an alley-oop. A maneuver she never truly wanted to perform as it was quite stressful in her opinion. Too much being thrown about. But hey, it could work out in their favour sometimes. This time though, was not the case of a successful alley-oop.

She and Sylvain sped through the air in direction of the snitch. River reached her hand out, preparing to snap it closed at the impact of the small golden snitch. But the sensation never came, and they’d flown just short of the damn thing. Cursing quietly to herself, River made sure to keep her eye on the snitch as best she could as it fluttered on its merry way.
The redhead was exceptionally patient in almost every way, but for some reason the snitch tended to get on her nerves quite easily. Perhaps seeker wasn’t the most fitting position for her. Or maybe it was just the impending pressure of the entire crowd and the game’s result that was making her stressed out.
Still she took a deep breath and kept her calm as always.

He missed the snitch. AGAIN. Dan wondered who he had offended in his past life to cause something like this to happen to him.

His teammates were dropping out of the air, and now he could tell in his peripherals that not only has River spotted the snitch, but was still in the game.
Unbelievable.

But, HE was still in it. Koko had saved him, and he was kept in the match by his beaters.
Though he was still in the game, this was easily the worst match he had ever played. But, all was still not lost.
Dan signaled to his team, both to communicate his orders, and to communicate to his team not to lose heart.

He also made a mental note to have a talk with Alexx about her accuracy.

Aly Salinger was about to go back to grab the Quaffle again (and hopefully sink three more goals through Slytherin's unguarded hoops), since the strategy had been working so far and no one else seemed to be diving for the red leather ball that was characteristic of the entire game they were playing, but then she happened to glance the way of a certain broom carrying two certain riders from her certain team...

She recognized the signal that River was giving instantly. A request for an alley-oop.

It was a difficult maneouvre, not altogether dangerous per se, but certainly time-consuming and a bit nerve-wracking for Aly herself- especially since she would be spinning around a broom with two people instead of with just the team's Seeker. But they had rehearsed it at Quidditch practices before so that anyone on the team could go to help their pretty redheaded Seeker if she ever decided this was something she needed... and, after a quick scan of the pitch, Aly quickly realized no one else would be running to River's rescue.

So the curly-haired third-year abandoned her bid for the Quaffle and instead swooped towards Syl and River on her Silver arrow.

"One Aly-oop, coming right up!" she called to them, easily diving down to grab the pair so she could spin them around; after a dizzyingly terrifying moment of turning and turning and turning full-force, with a hefty shove, Aly released Syl and River in the direction which River had indicated.

The world spun for a second but quickly began to slow back to normal as Aly shook her head to clear it, her damp brown ringlets bouncing into her face. By the time her vision had gone back to normal, however, she was able to squint to see that the alley-oop (or the Aly-oop, as she'd nicknamed it in practice) had... not worked.

Aly murmured frustration under her breath. Merlin. If I'd just let them off two more degrees to the right...

It was no use wasting time, though. She had more things to do.

If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a team mate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized
