Unaware of the fight that was ongoing in the adjacent area (if this is known please state moderators because I would not be standing here) he w0uld watch the performance. The performance that Percival could not even bother to attend himself. Not that he expected accolades, he at the very least expected a word since they had come to this ball allegedly together. Unwilling to be someone's second pick, he would rather be alone in his perennial state. He made arrangements for her, he was not about to leave the girl looking the fool but as she ran past him without a word he knew that she did not share the same sentiment.

He would glace in the direction that she ran, to the Samhain Festival after Thomas LeStrange. Wow was all that he would mouth as she rushed away in the gown he bought at the dance he invited her to as she ran after some -other- guy. With a sigh he considered following but thought twice about it. No, he was not going to chase her down, let her disappoint Percival he silently concluded.

There was no reason besides to stay. To witness the transformation and some girl's death? No, he was not nearly morbid enough for that. Hess was insistent he could exterminate the girl and perhaps he was not wrong, the boy was more capable than people presumed but to what consequence? People were unlikely top understand. They would hinder him. Revile him. Ultimately destroy him as they have him. Jurgen Hess should not stay either but he was not the boy's keeper.

Of the options he had, he chose to not stay. He would leave the ball, but he was not to return to the castle. Rather he would leave for the remote grounds that surrounded this Scottish castle knowing fully he had failed and that there was not much left to leave behind.

Lani had entered just when the Frog Choir ended their second song, blasting mock fireworks into the air. For a few seconds she stood at the entrance, taking in the colorful stars, half shook from the sudden explosions, but then came back to her senses when other students started clapping. Dammit. Miles was probably waiting for her and she was just standing there. She took a deep breath and walked towards the refreshment table.

Lani had never honestly met Miles Thatcher before, but from the letters he sent, she knew a little about him. She knew that he was a second-year student in the Thunderbird house, that he was a beater for his house team in quidditch, and he loved adventure, the great outdoors, plants, and potion-making. Maybe those could be conversation-starters since she honestly didn't know what to say when she met him. And looks? Lani had never really seen him face-to-face, but she honestly didn't care. He seemed like a nice person... a very flirty and daring person, but still, a nice guy in general.

After running into a few people and saying a ton of "excuse me's" and "sorry's", she finally made it. The tables were not fancy, but that wasn't what guests would focus on. There were so many types of foods and treats, roast beef and roast chicken, boiled and roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, gravy, and so much more. Though it was tempting, that wasn't what Lani was focusing on right now. This was only her checkpoint. She needed to find the punch bowl. And punch bowls were always in the center of the refreshment table... right?

She walked towards the center of the table, looking for a massive glass bowl full of red liquid. In just a couple of seconds, she found it. Lani was so glad she paid attention to those cheesy high school movies when her old, muggle friend Lily put them on. Now, to find Miles. She remembered from his last letter that he had dark hair and that he should be holding a single red rose. Lani got closer to the punch bowl and looked around, trying to find a boy with a rose in his hand. This was like the summer scavenger hunt back in Brighton, except she didn't have binoculars and wasn't getting sunburned.

It wasn't long until her eyes caught a boy with short, brown hair and electric blue eyes, holding a rose in his hand.

It was him.

He was here.

All the nervousness she felt before she entered the tent came back. Even though she felt like her stomach was doing somersaults, Lani knew she couldn't leave him. It was too rude, and she honestly wanted to meet him ever since he sent the first letter. "Here goes nothing," she mumbled. Lani took a deep breath, approaching him slowly until she stood about an arm's length away. She put on her warmest smile and spoke politely, "Hello, My name is Lani. Lani Beckett. Are you, Miles Thatcher, by any chance?"

Fall Ball
"This was a bad idea,"Cash said as they bunched up a bit their long burgundy dress in their hands so they did not trip and fall. "Why did I do this?"The green eyes continued muttered to themselves as they marched towards the entrance of the Fall Ball. Growing up as a Pureblood they had their fair share of Balls in their life.

At first, when Cash was still young, the Cuban descendant loved going to balls since every ball they had ever been attended to was always magical. But as they got older, going to Balls meant keeping up with appearance and maintaining their family name reputation. In some way, there will always be that unspoken Pureblood families politics in every ball Cash had ever attended.

Though Cash now despises a bit anything Balls-related, they can not let down their mother. Their mother was so excited when the green eyes mentioned this year's Fall Ball. Cash's mother even went into full-length contact with one of her good friends so her only child would not be dateless tonight.

And the young Ironwoods appreciated their mother's effort. Going into Ball is one thing but going into Balls dateless, that would not do. And so, with every step Cash took; they got closer and closer into the entrance of the Fall Ball. Cash thought that they will meet Nate inside the Ball. But turns out Nate waited for Cash near the entrance.

As the young socialite approached the Russian boy, a broad smile form on his face. "Hey,"Cash greeted the boy. "You do not have to wait for me outside, you know"They said to Nate. "But I appreciated it. So, thank you"Cash put both of their hands on Nate's shoulders and kissed him on his cheek.

Though Cash considers taller than some of their peers, there is still a height difference between Nate and Cash. So when Cash kissed Nate on his cheek, the Beater need stood a bit on their toes to reach Nate's height. Then suddenly what Cash just did dawned on them. "I am sorry,"They uttered.

Their parents always taught Cash to be polite to anyone no matter their age. Anyone that is Half and Pureblood, that is. And kissing Nate's on his cheek uninvited was impolite since Cash did not know whether Nate is comfortable with the physical contact or not. "I-I-I do not know what comes over me"They expressed.

Cash wanted to facepalm themselves. This is the first time in only Merlin's know how long when was the last time they stuttered in front others. The last time you were this awkward in front of others was when you had that date with Kara, remember? Their inner thought said to them. Thinking about Kara makes Cash feel guilty and sad even though what happened to their ex-girlfriend was not Cash's fault.

Kara Capricorn was one of a few people that the young Ironwoods cared about alongside Henry Knight and Starlee Kennedy. Cash shakes their head and plastered a smile. Cash's green eyes averted back and forth between Nate and the entrance of the Ball behind him. From where Cash stands, they could hear the Frog Choir members singing faintly and their companions croaking in the background.

The third year then grabbed Nate's wrist. "Before we go inside I need to tell you something, is that okay with you?"They let go of Nate's wrist and wrung their hands together. Their heartbeat fast and nervousness creeps upon them. Cash is about to tell that they are a Parsel to Nate and hopefully Nate did not see that as a bad thing since opening up to others that they are indeed a Parsel has never been easy for them.

He would let Winnie lead the way, from the matchmaking booth to the ball, it was preferable to the Samhain Festival. She was agitated, disappointed and perhaps a third sentiment that he could not put a finger on. Guilt, lingering interest in Levi, distraction and split sentiments for another young man rather than him. A truth he would have believed if he was told.

"Flash did not always have heterochromia iridum," he would reinforce louder and clearer once he was out of earshot from the Matchmaking Booth. "Two colors of the eye," he explained in case she did not know the word. "That is not Flash," he erroneously concluded. He gave her hand a squeeze and if she slowed her pace her would pull her onward. "I don't want there to be any trouble," he lied. He did not care about getting involved, he just did not care enough about Flash to get involved.

He would see his cousin briskly walk out of the ball area. He did not stop him, much like Flash, he did not care to mend a broken heart any more than prevent some prankster (or worse) from posing as Flash. "Let's dance, enjoy the evening and avoid the troubles everyone endures at these balls," he resolved. There was music and dancing, a place to be more importantly seen by others.

Flash and Opeila would arrive in the other area of the ball, in the familiar surroundings of the Quidditch Pitch. Arguably, seeing the area dolled up had its own soured memories. The secret Blossom Ball, where Victor was burned alive while mosps attacked everyone. Was he burned alive though, had he been alive at all since he had known him? Had Marion ever been anyone besides a hag? Fragments of thoughts would flit across Flash's brain one after the other, none of them taking hold. The stress of the ball may have been more than he was ready to take on. There were too many memories trying to drag him away from what should have been lighthearted fun.

He looked to Opeila again for guidance, she had wanted to dance with him. There were a few others dancing on a wooden platform, so it was not a challenge to make their way over to where the congregation was gathering. The night was still young, so there was still plenty of opportunity to forget his worries. It was such a change from when the two of them had been there before, in no small part due to the enchanted tent.

"M'lady." Flash would say once they arrived on the dancefloor, offering one hand for her to take. He would be suggesting the traditional male role for himself, even though he was arguably the one being led around that night. "Would you do me the honor of sharing a dance with me?"

There would be a weak smile on his face, as he was clearly hamming it up with formalities. Humor would be the only way he would manage to survive the night.

A set of foreign students would enter the match making tent as the couple was leaving. Winnie was tempted to grumble at them, to tell them not to waste their time with the tome, but she remained quiet as she walked towards the ball area with Mathias. What the tome had written had shocked her, made her question if it could somehow read her thoughts, but further examining what had been written, it seemed to be a vague answer, the kind that fake muggle fortune tellers would often tell their clients, allowing them to fill in the blanks and make it seem as if they were able to break through the veil into the land of spirits.

Even if there was some semblance of truth behind what the tome had said, she would choose to believe otherwise. She would not let it define the evening she had already spent the past month romanticizing. Truthfully seeds of doubt had already been planted within her mind. She knew there were pieces of her relationship that made no sense, and the realization had been solidified upon her second meeting with another Gryffindor boy, Marshal Mozor. She was uncertain if she would voice these concerns to Mathias.

Matt's comment derailed her train of thoughts, and her brows furrowed in surprise. "What?" She asked not because she did not understand what heterochromia was, but because Flash, for as long as she had known him, had always had two different eye colours. "He had heterochromia when I met him back in September... I mean, I met him before that but I didn't remember that meeting."

"How... Could it not be him?"
She asked, trying not to glance in the Quidditch player's direction as they entered the ball. "Polyjuice potion...?" She suggested, half-whispering. Her pace slowed and then picked up again as she allowed Mathias to lead them. She returned his hand squeeze, a small comfort as her mind began to race. "If that's not Flash... Who is it?" And how long had they been at this?

The fall ball provided an entirely new atmosphere, the array of fairy lights perfectly illuminating the make-shift dance floor as fake clouds floated above the swaying figures. Yes, this had been the evening she had wanted with Mathias. Calm and romantic, away from the drama, as he had suggested. "Matt. It's difficult to forget our troubles when you've just told me that my friend isn't who he says he is." She would half-hiss at him, releasing the Slytherin's hand as she turned to face him. She stepped closer and, if he allowed her to, would place a hand on his shoulder to initiate the dance. While she wouldn't be winning any dance competitions, her mother had taught her the basics as a child, and she would be following Mathias' lead. Yes, that was right; she was going to let the boy lead. "But we can talk and dance at the same time."

Even though he had waved at Orion and sent him a friendly smile, the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor did not seem to notice him. Nigel merely shrugged, not feeling hurt or angry. He did not accuse the pure-blood of ignoring him on purpose, but rather guessing that Orion simply did not see Nigel waving at him or perhaps his mind was currently wandering somewhere else. Or to borrow the words of a professor of his in the Muggle university, "The body may be here, but the soul is somewhere else."

Nigel smiled fondly at this memory, and then slightly shook his head. It was alright; maybe he could greet Orion later. He decided not to do it right away.

The Astronomy teacher shifted his attention to the Frog Choir performance. He did hear them singing earlier, but their performance had not got his full (or major) attention. They got it now. The performance was lovely, but to be honest, Nigel loved the artificial fireworks more than the songs. Kels does a good job conducting this, he said inside his head.

After some time, the performers took a bow and drifted back behind the curtain. Was the performance over already? Nigel considered it quite a pity; it was a very good performance, but he felt it was so short as well. He would prefer for it to last longer.

Nate was waiting at the entrance and while the Russian could also get impatient, he knew it would be worth the wait. Secretly, he was really looking forward to this ball, even if it would have been hard to imagine a few months ago. While he had been stood up at his last ball, he still felt no worry that it would happen to him again today. Something inside him assured him that Cassandra would come. And to his delight, it wasn't long before his ice-blue eyes met their green ones and a broad smile spread across his face. He formed almost unrecognisably, but those who were paying attention would see it, a "wow" with his lips. Cassandra looked stunning in the burgundy dress and his suit matched the colour perfectly. "Hey." He greeted them back and took a few steps towards them.

He was surprised at the brief kiss, not that he wasn't happy about it, but it was unusual to experience this closeness from Cash. "Don't feel sorry." He reassured her and gently placed both hands on their shoulders to calm them down a little. He looked into them eyes briefly to reassure them that it really wasn't a problem. "There is no need to be."

Nate was about to get ready to enter the ball with Cash, but just as he was about to offer them his arm, Cash grabbed his wrist. He looked at them confused and thought for a moment. What was it all of a sudden that they had to tell him now? Nate could have imagined the most normal but also the worst things, but for one thing and fortunately for him, there wasn't enough time, because Cash was still standing in front of him, and for another, he didn't want to get himself into any bad thoughts. "Uh- Um sure. Is everything okay?" he asked cautiously as he noticed Cash getting nervous.

Confusion continued to be written on his face and suddenly thoughts came over him after all. He gently put his left hand on Cash's shoulder and tried to make eye contact. "Hey what's wrong?" he asked worriedly as he continued to notice them visibly unwell. Was it because of him? Did something happen? Did someone hurt them? "Did someone hurt you?" he voiced his thought and there was no denying the anger in his voice. Nate was always reasonable, he was nice unless you gave him another reason. But it stopped with friends and family, he had the protector instinct in him and while his father had always taught him and his brother not to pick unnecessary fights, Nate would not shy away from using his strength when necessary.

"Yes, let's go find her,"
he said, slipping his hand into Haley's. He then squeezed it some and smiled over to her. They had a bit of a ways to go before they got back to where they once were but it was still leaps and bounds from where they once were. "You know, I once thought I liked you in green best...but now I'm not sure. You look beautiful," he complimented her. Truth be told, Haley Rose would probably look amazing in anything.

Simon smiled, knowing that he probably was slightly red in the face for giving such a compliment but the truth was the truth and he wouldn't deny it or downplay it. "And even though we didn't really get a chance to talk about it, I knew you would show up." She wasn't the type to leave him like that.

The two returned back over where others were gathering and he scanned the area for Emily's blue dress. "Did you know I knew Emily from back in London?" he wasn't sure if Haley knew that fact. "She and I used to go to the same Youth Book Club back at one of the libraries there. I'm also friends with her older brother."

It was his hope that these two girls could get along nicely. It never hurt to have more friends and when friends became friends, well that was just amazing.

Interacting: @Eun-ji Lee Hunt
Mentioning: Frog Choir
As Aaron and Eun-ji made their way across the grounds towards the Quidditch Pitch, the Hufflepuff was distracted by memories. He only snapped out of it - realizing he had a rather serious expression on his face - when Eun-ji asked him if he was okay. His brown eyes turned to the Ravenclaw at his side and he offered a small automatic smile in response to reassure her that he was fine. But the smile lowered in intensity when he saw the look she gave him, and he decided to just tell her what was on his mind. Eun-ji was a good friend, and since they were going to be spending the evening together, she should probably know why he might get a bit distracted in his thoughts.

"I just.. haven't been here in a while. I quit Quidditch, but also.. well, you probably heard the secret ball from first year was here... It's just weird," he shared, turning his eyes forward to the lights of the Quidditch Pitch ahead in anticipation. Slipping into the Korean language had come naturally in response to Eun-ji starting the conversation in the language. "But I'll be okay, nothing to worry about," he said after a moment, turning to look at her again. His smile was a bit more genuine now.

When the two third years entered the Quidditch Pitch, Aaron's eyes raised to the tent that was covering the pitch. It was a really good idea, especially considering the storm he had seen in the distance when they were back at the Samhain Festival. But reminiscent of that storm, the top of the tent seemed to be covered in fake clouds? Had someone used a spell to make it look like that? It gave a very haunted vibe, but as he looked across the rest of the tent, the twinkle lights gave a nice warmth to the space. At the center there was a dance floor, but it wasn't black-and-white like the dance from two years ago. It was a nice brown wood, like the wood of the refreshment tables around the edge of the ball. Overall, it was.. well, it was different. He wasn't sure what he had been expecting, but he felt like he could take a deep breath (he hadn't realized he was holding it). A quick glance around didn't reveal any sign of Dealla or Jack, but it did reveal the location of the stage.

"Oh, look," Aaron said, a more genuine smile appearing on his lips when he noticed the stage hosting the Frog Choir. They were just in time for the awesome performance, and he was happy to recognize a couple of the members, like Pericles and Santario. The dancing skeleton on the stage was a great touch of comedy. As the sparks spells were cast into the air at the end, Aaron's mouth fell open in delighted surprise and he applauded the choir performance. "That was really cool," he said, looking to Eun-ji when it ended.
