The girls would take their sweets. The boy would close his messenger bag flap and bid the girls adieu with a smile, a nod and his back. They did not seem to like him very much but what is a boy to do? Not every Hufflepuff expected the world to fawn over them, he is only a cliche in action not at heart. He needed to find Juniper, his other date and do another meet and greet. both of his dates were insanely short, something he was thankful for considering the fact that his legs were not meant for running.
He would look back at the dance, his first dance of the year and his eyes would widen with awe, or perhaps minor concern. At some point within these first few minutes the ball had devolved into a brawl. There were spells being slung and people acting overly dramatic and he did not have the foggiest clue why. He was not going to involve himself with that chaos. He valued his skin, his clothes and his comfort too much for that. He did not see either of his brothers at the heart of the madness, that much was a surprise.

The first months of the new school year had passed quickly and the first ball of the year had started. Samantha had been really excited for the fall ball, as she had loved the blossom ball from last year. The blossom ball had been her first ball ever and she had enjoyed every moment of it, well not every moment. She hadn't liked it when Vivian, her best friend, had started acting really strange, but other then that it had been amazing.
As Samantha walked to the festival, she wondered if her friend had already arrived. Vivian would be going to the ball with Aldor, her boyfriend. Samantha didn't like the fact that her best friend had a boyfriend for multiple reasons, but in the end all that mattered was that her friend was happy.
As Samantha entered the festival, she could heard the leaves crunching with ever step she took. It all looked so magical, the beautiful colored toadstools, the floating pumpkins and the talking of the students. The brunette smiled and knew she would have an amazing time.
She loved her outfit, even though she was wearing a dress, which she normally disliked. Her outfit was based off of the outfit from the movie ghostbusters. She adored her backpack, it looked amazing, almost exactly the same as in the movie and she could also use it to store her wand! The costume had also allowed her to pick what nametag she wanted to place on her dress, of course she had picked Spengler, who was her favorite character from her favorite movie.
Samantha saw many familiar faces of students in the crowd. She was tempted to join the group of talking students, but she decided she wanted to go to somebody she didn't know already. She wanted to meet somebody new, maybe even a students from a different school.
She decided that instead of taking the initiative and starting the conversation she would wait for somebody to come to her. If nobody would approach her she would make her way to the fall ball. She had all the time, as she didn't have a date and could do whatever she liked. Samantha decided to hang around the toadstools, which looked really interesting. They weren't perfect, but they were still really pretty.
Samantha hoped that somebody would be brave enough to approach her. She didn't think it would be hard for anybody to talk to her, as she looked quite friendly. She looked younger then she really was and she had a friendly face, so there was no reason for anybody to be scared of her.

As a majestic bird of prey, Aurelia would attend the Halloween themed festival. Initially met with a little hesitance was met upon deciding to take on her animagus form over her human one for the day. First, given that she was not as adept at flight as an owl should be and the fact that only a handful knew this particular fact about her that may as well be considered a secret. It has been about 4 months since she had gotten her form and it took about 3 months for her to learn the art of flying. Aspen surely made it look easy.
Nevertheless, Aurelia was sure to dress herself up, just incase she were to lose form, at least there was a getaway outfit at hand. It was nothing too extravagant, no trails to trip over on should she need to exunt, it was a simple red dress. Gathering up the hem into a ball, she would morph in a split second and from her dormitory window up in the Gryffindor towers, she would take off, a few strong flaps of the wings before allowing the chilly winds to carry her on their flow. Towards the grounds, she would glide.
It barely took a few minutes to arrive. A few feet above the eagle-owl would circle, getting a birds-eye view. There was a lot to take in, the action seemed to have already started. Spells cast, and it would be evident that she wasn't the only animagus around. A bear inserting itself into a rather heated confrontation which was coincidentally involving her good friend, Falentra. But Aurelia decided that intervening, especially as an owl would not do much to disperse the situation.
Instead, the owl with her keen eyesight would soon find her partner on the ground. What was Hadrian up to now? Hadrian was more than capable of taking a punch, one that Nick was on the verge of throwing. However, it was not the Gryffindor boy, Owleia was worried about, rather his date. With her very keen owl eyesight, she would immediately notice the girl's hand shifting to her pocket where a small can of pepper spray was tucked into. Aurelia had to intervene. With a slight shift of her body weight and angling of her massive wings, she would make a shallow dive. In a swift and silent flight, talons extending, wide open as she aimed for the girl's armed hand.
If she were successful, or not, she would find her perch, landing gracefully on her betrothed's shoulder.

Outfit: x The blonde would arrive slightly late to the ball, but she would like to think that the arrival was fashionably late. She had donned an elegant red gown for the evening. Her blonde hair was surprisingly down for once, cascading down her back in gorgeously done waves with some of her hair braided around her head, giving the impression of a crown. In her left hand she clutched a purse, carrying the things she thought would be necessary at a ball: chapstick, her wand, perfume, compact mirror, and a hairbrush. She had refrained from doing any extravagant makeup, only a light blush and chapstick could be seen. She probably would've made it to the ball sooner if she hadn't took so long getting ready, but she wanted to look perfect for her first ever Hogwarts ball.
Adelaide looked out at the crowd of people, not seeing any faces she recognized. Her friends must not be here yet, so she mustn't be that late. The area looked gorgeous, the grounds were transformed into something akin to a fairytale land for the night. Vibrant toadstools could be seen, as well as cabbages in white and purple with an array of beautiful flowers decorating the place. Fallen leaves crunched under her feet as she walked, taking in her surroundings. Above her, pumpkin lanterns were casting a creepy glow over the grounds. There was a slight chill in the air, and Adelaide was now wishing that she had brought a jacket with her. She wrinkled her nose slightly at the sight of a pool of mud on one side, someone would deserve a medal if they convinced her to do that activity and get mud all over her dress and herself.
Not recognizing anyone, she opted to stay off to the sidelines for a bit and observe everything that was going on until she hopefully spotted a familiar face.Action: Entering the ball

It seemed that all it took for the ball to descend into chaos was the slightest nudge, maybe the conflict was inevitable, perhaps the students should have mentally prepared themselves for the certainty that the less stable of their number would begin to quarrel amongst themselves. Threats, fists and spells took to the night's sky. The light of magic and wandwork appeared as if lightning strikes against the rapidly darkening sky, the clouds moving closer now, crossing over from the great lake and looming ominously above the festival.
Thomas Lestrange, to no one's great surprise, was the spark that set the tinderbox alight. The Slytherin had intended to cast the green-sparks charm directly into the face of one Marion Davonport, but the girl stepped deftly to avoid the attempted jinx. Her own counter-attack, a kiss that one would most certainly not wish to be the recipient of, despite the girl's rather pleasant appearance, was also avoided by Lestrange. An attempt by Ami Proccopio, a girl in the body of the bear, to get in the way of the kiss had ultimately failed, but it seemed the boy was apt enough at dodging the affections of beautiful women in his own right.Verdimillious

The Ravenclaw hardly noticed how nicely everyone was dressed, content with looking like Swamp Thing's shorter, less menacing little brother. In truth, Thomas was only mildly interested in the affairs of others, having learned to keep to himself after getting into the business of people he ought to have left alone (he didn't regret reading Vlad's diary, though, sorry bud). Curiosity killed the cat, and though the young boy was ever curious he wasn't particularly peachy keen on winding up dead. Of course, it was impossible to fully suppress his nature, and his eyes darted around mostly out of an instinct of self-preservation and fear of being caught unaware by some unseen, rogue spell flying his way. That was, of course, until Sylvie interrupted his train of thought (rude, really, shouldn't she know that he was in the midst of brooding)."That's always a dangerous thing. Should I duck for cover, or..." Thomas teased, watching as Sylvie made a show out of trying to look presentable. A single eyebrow raised high, he watched his friend go out of his way to improve her appearance..."IDEA. I have an idea.""You could be on the runway if it was at the bottom of the Black Lagoon," came his snarky reply, which was of course coupled with ample snickering and a mischievous grin. It wasn't as if Thomas looked any better, of course, but at least he could play it off by claiming he wasn't putting in any effort. His friend Sylvie on the other hand... Well... There was a conscious thought that went into looking like that. There was a method, not a method to her madness, but a method spawned from it. If Thomas cared about this fact, however, he didn't seem inclined to show it."How do I look? Beautifully illustrious and ethereal and also maybe kinda cute??"There she went, sniffing. Thomas went out of his way to seem annoyed or disgusted by the gesture."It smells like..."And so he was dragged. "Release me, vile bog-woman," Thomas began, trying and failing to wrench himself out of her grasp as he was unwillingly brought to the scene of some sort of fight. "Ow- ow- unhand me!" He noticed a few faces he recognized, notably Erin Ryan and Galton Lansdale, both of whom he came to know of due to their participation in sports. Happy to play the spectator as the smackdown occurred, he watched as spells were exchanged as a stranger announced that he was inclined to cause the resident girlboss (and unbeknownst to Thomas, birthday girl and soon to be hag) Erin great, even mortal harm."Like drama. Lets go, Thomas, before they scatter like rats!!"
Galton's disarming spell was flawless, of course. Thomas had absolute faith in his fellow dueling vice-captain that he could totally trounce this interloper who was attacking the poor, sweet Slytherin girl. "I wonder why that guy with the glasses wants to attack Erin. I feel bad for her, honestly, glad Galton and co were there to defend her..." As far as Thomas was concerned, Erin did nothing wrong!
Glancing over to another show of flashing lights, Thomas saw Bridget Collins freeze stiff as a board, and gestured to Sylvie to watch that altercation. "All of the Slytherins seem to be very troublesome right now," he noted, grinning. "Guess that's why they live in the dungeons, bonafide criminals, right?" Thomas loved a good house-ist remark, particularly when it wasn't entirely false. The snakes seemed to be the house of controversy this evening, and the young wizard was happy to note that Ravenclaws remained #unproblematic.

Serena sighed as she walked around the event. More people had arrived by now, it seemed. The festival was hectic. But she still had not found her target for the evening. As she scanned the area, she sighed, wondering if she should try the second area for the event, hoping she would see something there (the fall ball).
Her gaze landed straight onto the tallest person in the room by far - only surpassed by Quinn - Hugh. He was practically a landmark - and one of the people she needed. Navigating her way through the crowd as quickly as possible, Serena homed in onto him and the group gathering around him. There was a bunch of things happening but honestly, she did not bother with any of it. She had a mission, "Hey - did you find her-" Serena started as she approached Hugh, pausing as she looked between him and the other two boys. Galton had his wand out and pointed at a boy, who she did not recognise but he did not seem to have a wand in his hand. It took Serena a moment or two before she realised that there was someone behind Hugh.
Poking her head behind Hugh, she blinked as her gaze fell onto the girl that they were trying to find. It looked like the pair of Gryffindors had found her. But they seemed to be focused elsewhere. Serena was trying to figure out what the heck was going on but as soon as her gaze fell onto Erin, everything changed.
The girl looked... different. Very different to what Serena remembered her to look like. They had probably passed each other in corridors or had classes together but the Hufflepuff did not really pay attention to her. She had never really noticed her or rather, noticed the changes in her. Perhaps she should have. She swallowed, "Hey Erin... I- I don't really know if you remember me but uh, I'm Serena. I'm a friend of Hugh's - and I'm here to help," She said softly, trying to not scare the girl, who likely definitely did not trust her. Serena did not know if her words would help but... she was trying. The hufflepuff probably had a bit of mud on her now, after trying to catch an eel. Her arms and her clothes were probably not the cleanest things now. That might make her more trustworthy, right? Probably not. Welp, let's hope Erin did not mind mud.
She swallowed, observing the girl. Slugs. There were slugs inside her. This was not going to work, was it? She had no idea but she could only hope it did. But they had to find a way to get Erin away from everyone else or to contain the slugs. What if there was like a million tiny slugs that came out and tried to gnaw on everything around? That would be pretty bad. Maybe a barrel would have been a smart idea. They could just... close the barrel afterwards or something!
Pizza was still in her top pocket. She had no idea if bringing him was a good idea or not but she had spent the past few days trying to train him to bite on command. She figured it would be pretty handy if he could bite a slug or two. Or like fifty. So she trained him with food, hoping for the best. But she also did not want him to get hurt. It was a double etched sword. She could feel her heart pounding, the nerves starting to set in. This would work, right?

Mentions: Victor Moore, Thomas Lestrange, Marion Davenport, Falentra Black, Ami Proccopio, and Percival Gray
The moment Victor mentioned he had more things--not that there was anywhere she could have put them--she knew her quick attempt to get him to walk off wasn't going to work. Not that it ever had a very good shot, for it had been quick, riddled with flaws. Something merely adjacent to her main objective. She cast a desperate glance at the situation to gauge if she had any time to retry. But no, Marion was already closing the gap. Damn it, Thomas.
And so she stepped away, knowing he was probably still watching. She didn't relish dropping his gifts on the ground, but with the clock ticking, it was the only way to have the time to grab her wand, to complete the incantation and movement before Marion touched anyone else she cared about. She missed. Hastiness took away from spell quality, and even as a duellist, used to quicker casts, hitting a swiftly moving target was no breeze, especially without the precious moments to assess where their pace would put them.
Victor had incanted, too. She could see it in her periphery, the wand and then the light. Practically still mid-cast and trying to give this one the best possible chance, futile as it would prove, she didn't duck or swerve the same way she would in a duel. If it was between a hag or an Immobulus, she'd take the Immobulus. When her body became unmoving, unresponsive to any signals her brain was sending, her head had just started to turn, some last-second attempt to see if there was a quick way to dodge it. If anything, she'd catch the moment the blue light collided with her.
The duelling stance she'd naturally assumed a fairly sturdy one, she didn't fall over. That did very little for the rising panic. It wouldn't have really mattered, would it have? On the ground or like this, she was useless, helpless. Her wand, still held out, might be all too easy to grab away. And forget her wand, was Thomas on his own now? She could still see enough of over there. The first relief, Marion hadn't gotten to him. Yet, if he didn't figure out something smarter than harmless sparks. Immobulus was a decent idea, actually, and maybe what she should have tried, would have tried with another second to think. He had someone with him, she couldn't quite make out who, and... and a bear? Oh god. Maybe those flowers had been enchanted or something and now she was hallucinating, because she couldn't think of a single reason why there would be a bear here and she certainly wasn't recalling Transfiguration lessons or a certain article in the Hogwarts Headliner at that moment.
So she had failed and was maybe going crazy. But mostly she was frozen, no amount of muscle strain moving so much as a finger. Thank goodness it didn't stop those involuntary motions, the pumping of her heart and the intake of air--though if it did, Hogwarts would hopefully never teach such a spell--even if it didn't feel like she was getting very much oxygen at all. Going from hurried thoughts and actions to nothing at all was whiplash. It would wear off. It would, it might not even take very long, but that was still time. Time Marion could replace an eyeball or any number of other creatively horrible things.
Strangely enough, it was Victor yelling at her that was grounding. Everything he said and the rest of what she could see around her seemed logical enough, so maybe there really just was a bear. This was Hogwarts, why not? But really, thinking through responses her tongue couldn't form was helpful to slow her spiraling worries. One thing at a time, and starting with things she could do. How were things bad already? Even if she could react, she probably would have been moved very little at the title of 'reckless freak'. That might have hurt from someone else, but Victor was not one of those people. What a shift from being happy to spend the evening with her. Why ask her, and not anyone else? And she was quite certain Thomas was not going to the ball with Marion, that she was not interrupting anything romantic, or whatever. What had Marion been about to do this time?
Victor could continue to yell at her all he liked, he wouldn't exactly be getting a response. Yelling would be preferable, really, to whatever else he might be able to do while she could do nothing. It still wasn't clear whether he'd jumped to Marion's defense as friends or if they were in league with each other, a pretty important distinction. Then came the arrival of Percival Gray, who struck Victor in the back of the head. The unexpected support was appreciated, even if her main issue wasn't with the unnaturally blue-eyed boy. What she would have given to inform Victor he was only right if by 'she started it' he meant Marion; technically, Thomas had initiated tonight, but the hag had drawn their ire. She would take the altercation's likely distraction to mentally will herself to move. Maybe it would do nothing, maybe she could only wait for the spell to wear out itself, but she needed the sense she was taking back control.

Hadrian should have seen it coming, but more so an attack from the girl herself rather than her counterpart. That hit was swift and well-placed. A gruelling crack as the fist contacted with his pretty face. Nicholas may even happen to feel the snap against his knuckles. A searing pain would flush Hadrian's face, the momentum of the hit, sending him stumbling a few steps back. His hand would instinctively move to clasp on his broken nose. Seething thorough his teeth, he would wipe his upper lip to only find crimson against his fingers.
"Damn," he would mutter under his breath. "I'd commend your possessiveness over your date, but you should have thought that through. " A sneer dipping with such arrogance. Even when he clearly was hurt.
In the same moment which the younger boy struck him had the bird of prey swoop down from the skies, its extended talons swiping the girl. Then perching on this shoulder, she was bigger than he had imagined, her majestic wingspan coming close to slapping him on the back of his head. "My dear, what an entrance. Would've preferred to get the actual thrown fist the next time, love?" Little did Hadrian know that the owl had saved him from another attack and his betrothed had quite an aim on the contrary to his belief.
If it weren't for Aurelia's entrance he would have thrown a punch right back the younger boy's way. But alas, with the owl shrieking right in his ear, likely reprimanding him, he would deal with the matter at hand - or rather, on his shoulder, first. The American could not decipher any thing she squacked about, and he actually preferred it that way. Aurelia was too intelligent as a comprehensible human. "Let me deal with this, Ori. Cash swore to themselves that they never set their foot to any of Hogwarts Balls. Last year, they deliberately ignore the Blossom Ball. And last year Fall Ball, the Cuban descendant mainly ignore what happened in the main event and straight joined the Scavenger Hunt of a headless Knight Ghost Rider.
The green eyes pretty much ignore the scavenger hunt that happened last year's Fall Ball and just left. But here they are, walking in their burgundy dress that their mother had sent to them and gushed how the third year would look good in it toward the entrance for this year's Fall Ball. Cash agrees with their mother.
They looked good in it when they saw it back at their dorm. What surprising was the dress came with a pocket. It was tailored made and Cash was always glad their family had their very own tailor that was always ready to make an outfit for whatever occasion the Ironwoods clan had. The pocket is hidden smartly and gives enough space for Cash to store their wand securely.
The young socialite debating with themselves whether they will bring out Aero - their snake - tonight. But after a long process of thinking, they decided to not bring Aero since they were not ready for the whole student body to know that they are a Parsel. Hell, even Nate did not know they are one.
After a walk later, Cash finally arrived at the Samhain Festival. The orange color leaves crunches with every step the young Ironwoods made. Cash looked up where the floating pumpkin was. Cash tried to suppress their eyes roll. The decoration itself is a bit cheesy for them but it seems to suit the whole theme.
And who is Cash complain about the decoration when they are were not a part of the party committee. The Beater scanned their eyes looking and searching for one Koldovstoretz boy that is Nate Smirnow. Their date. The date that both of the youngsters' mothers had set up. Cash shooked their head.
This is the second time Cash's mother played matchmaker. In a way, Cash understands it is their mother's way to show Cash that she still cares about her only child. When the former purple-haired did not see their date for the night, Cash was about to continue their step to the Fall Ball. But something - no - someone caught their eyes.
Standing alone dateless is one Samantha Salwis, wearing some kind of hideous outfit that makes her stand out like a sore thumb. Cash had the urge to just march toward the low excuse of a human being. But Cash had a more important matter at hand they need to attend and do aka meeting Nate at the Fall Ball. The green eyes left Sam alone, at least for now.
