Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw

Saturday, 16th of October 2021
It was that time of year when the leaves turned orange, and the air had that crisp scent. Hogwarts would be decorating for Samhain, quidditch would be starting soon, an autumn ball would be taking place, but perhaps the most important of all events was Duelling. Slytherin had reigned supreme last year, securing even the summer crown-making them, as far as full tournaments were concerned, undefeated coming into the new year.
Unlike last year where the days the duellists were randomized this year the captains decided to shake it up making it easier for spectators to support their friends and their houses. Today would start with Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor!
The Duelling Room was a large room, with long stages set up in the centre. Three pistes, in fact. Lines had been drawn on the ground to signify where the spectators should stand - a safe distance behind the referees and professors. This was primarily to keep them from being victims to a random stray spell that could have been misfired.
On the front door of the room and again on the wall, a large poster stuck up containing the timetable for duels for spectators wishing to view specific friends. There were two main slots the morning slot and the afternoon slot. Each timeslot had three games - two pairs per game. Some students opted to come for just one game; others chose to attend all of them. It was entirely up to the spectators.
There was an hour slot booked in, by which all three of the duels will definitely have ended. An hour break to tend to the wounded and reset before the next set of duellists stepped in.
Let the day one games begin.

To think if Meenauh had not been removed from the school, Xailah might have had the opportunity to witness two of her friends fight to the death on this day. Jokes had been made about the two duellists going toe-to-toe in the past, jokes made in good jest always, but Xailah would have been lying if she denied enjoyment in the idea of witnessing both teens sling a spell or two at one another. Oh, what a good show that would have been. Alas, Mother Change had to remove the opportunity by setting Meenauh onto a different path in life. A safe one. But with the loss of one opportunity comes the promise of a new one.
Xailahs eyes were affixed to the dueling stage in anticipation; as she waited for the statuesque silhouette of her friend to appear atop it's polished surface. She jumped, bounced on her toe tips, like a little spring when she finally saw him step onto the piste; with his hair sculpted to lay smooth on his porcelain skull; and the avian badge resting on his breast. The bit of bronze metal glinted softly, like a shiny little knut in the overhead light. The young lioness curled her hands into "c" shapes and brought them over her mouth; cupping the surrounding area, to form something of a tunnel meant to propel sound. She was careful to not disturb Schrödinger, who sat perched in the nook between neck and shoulder. "Pericles!" She shouted over the rising rumble of voices, in hopes of snagging his attention, if only for a moment. Should the target of her calls spare her the briefest glance, he would see her looking rather chipper; hands waving; with a broad, beaming grin taking the place of her default chilly and distant glare.
"But please do be mindful of your opponents spells. I do not want to be tending to you in the hospital wing!" Was that a threat? It ought to have been. Tending, was certainly an unusual word to find in her odd assortment of vocabulary- given the context. Xailah herself found it to feel a bit unnatural, when it came rolling off her tongue. But she would not try to take it back. It would be an unpleasant surprised perhaps, if Pericles heard (and understood) it. She had not bothered to inform him of her not-so-secret double life as a healing intern. How scandalous. Volunteering at the infirmary was likely the last thing on the list of possibilities to ponder. Hopefully the overhanging threat of being sent to the hospital wing, with Xailah present as a "nurse", gave Pericles the drive he needed to win. Or at the very least, complete the duel still conscious. With the way he had been practicing, and anticipating this day, losing was certainly not an option.
C'mon Peri, get em'!

The first stage of duels for the year has arrived. Henry's duel wasn't for the second day but he still planned to attend the first day to cheer on his gryffindor friends that year.Morning Slot; Match 2
The third year skipped breakfast to finish the poster he created for his friends to save him the voice and energy of yelling for them. Henry had taken a likening to drawing and now takes every opportunity he can to practice his techniques.
The poster has a broader of paw prints going around the paper with a giant lion head in the middle, around the lion is four neatly written names.
In the upper left corner in a red color is Rose's name in large letters, the upper right in a dark red color is Nicky's name in large letters, in the bottom left in a lighter red color is Katrina's name, and in the right corner in a lighter red color is Adeline's name.
The teen eyes his work before checking the time. Nearly five minutes till the first matches that morning, Henry grabbed the poster and whistled for his feline; Loki who came running toward him and crawled up his leg. The feline took a seat on his owner's right shoulder, overlooking the action with his amber eyes.
Henry nearly jogged toward the duelling room as he walked in, looking around for a moment before spotting Rose and running up to her which is when he spotted Alec Mason. The bully would insulted and disrespected his friends. Henry ignored him as he whispered to Rose, "you can do this, remember to breath and focus," taking a few steps away as he watched Rose take her place with Alec.
Aim for Alec. Aim for Alec.
The teen was silently hoping that the Ravenclaw's would go for the gryffindor boy who unlucky made himself a enemy of Henry Knight. The third year felt bad for Rose since she was partnered up with a bully and didn't understand how someone could he so mean.
Henry caught the slight banter between the ravenclaw captain and the gryffindor boy. Reminding Henry of his first duel with Amara as his partner, snelling oit of his thoughts when he felt bad for the Ravenclaw's and the words thrown at them.
Henry held the poster above his head, Loki sat on his right shoulder as the teen offered a smile toward Rose and was ready to support her and hopefully not visit her in the hospital wing this year.
The morning matches came and gone. Henry attended to cheer on and support his stepsister; Rose Moon and was less than happy when he found out that her partner is Alec Mason...Afternoon Slot; Match 4 and 5
However now wasn't the time to dwell on them, Henry had to cheer on his other gryffindor friends who have afternoon matches. The teen entered the dueling room, Loki sitting on his right shoulder as his owner examined the space with his blue eyes.
Henry was there to cheer on three people. Nicky and Adeline, two of his friends and fellow boom members. Also Adeline's partner; Katrina Walker who Henry met a few times and found her nice and friendly.
The third year walked over to the matches and would walk between the two, first standing at Nicky's match and holding the poster over his head so she can see it and he hoped would give her confidence.
Then walking over toward Adeline and Katrina's match, holding the poster over his head and offering a soft smile as he watched their duel. The third year would walk between the duels every few seconds as he watched and hoped Nicky and Adeline would win their duels. They weren't going against slytherin that stage so Dmitri couldn't say anything about Henry cheering for his friends against ravenclaw.

So early in the game and so much action and tea. Just the way to wake him up during these ungodly hours of the morning. Ignore it being later than 10:30 am and it was still considered an ungodly hour of the mornings for Hanako. If it’s not 12, it’s not morning. Personally, and realistically. The events of the 1st rounds really hyped him up.
Unfortunately, the tea was steaming a bit too hot. Especially when the person he came to support couldn’t see a damn thing anymore. It’s going to be tough evading and casting any spells. Dee would need utmost luck in the coming rounds. “ DO WHAT THE WINDS TELL YOU, DEE! LISTEN TO THEM!” he actually didn’t know if listening to winds would help anyone under the obscuro. But if you can’t rely on your hearing when your vision goes dark, you’re toast. Or, alternatively, if Dee was unable to hear what the winds tell her to, perhaps Hana’s own unique, wonderful, amazing, show-stopping, never-been-done-before, slightly tired voice can help her through the darkness that surrounded her.
Didn’t she say words can be a powerful tool when being a decent human being, during their Decent Human Behavior ™ class? She probably meant that Hana should use his glorious one-of-a-kind serenic voice to help others. That's what he’s doing with her obscuro situation right now. He’s sure it will work out.

“NO PAIN NO GAIN, T’IEN. SMASH THEM TO A PULP!” It was an afternoon slot, therefore Hanako had no trouble shouting.
Hanako could understand the pain of having your clothes burned during a duel. He could very much relate, which might have been a factor in his enthusiastic (and oddly void of sarcasm) cheer. There was a lot more evading than long lasting emotional and physical damage. Sad. These guys seemed really slippery.
But he wasn’t here to witness emotional & physical distress. He was here to support Parselmouth Gang, Mars T’ien. It made him think how wonderful it would be to shout his cheer in parseltongue without compromising his family blablabla secret yadayada or whatever. Lame. He was going to find a way to escape that. Until then, Mars had to deal with a very noisy and happy Hana.
They haven’t been able to meet up much recently, but Mars had left quite an interesting first impression on Hana. Plus, they were a part of A.S.P. They didn’t really need to meet up constantly and have bubble tea together to support each other's duels. That being said, he really hoped not to see them at his own duel tomorrow. One, because it would be terribly embarrassing to lose. Two, he had less wins than they did, therefore less confidence. Three, combine the 2 earlier points and you will not find Hana near the Chamber of Secrets for a month or two.

Being here was not part of the schedule. After Mars’s match ended, he was planning to go back to his warm and lovely room. And yet, trouble struck. With his already depleting energy, he made little to no effort at resisting Cash’s dragging him back as they preached about supporting fellow Parselmouths. His protests that he was so terribly hungry made no difference to his circumstances. He’d be more surprised if his basic need of hunger was anything important to Cassandra Ironwoods. They’d probably make him eat bark if it would shut him up.
Either way, supporting Kath wasn’t on his to-do list. Not only did he already watch 2 matches today, but he couldn’t tell if she loathed him or tolerated him. Would seeing him support her from the sidelines make her happy? Happy and Katherine aren’t supposed to be in the same sentence. It’s ludicrous. It was because of that confusion that he was unsure if his presence was needed at her duel. He was annoying to her, and she didn’t respect him, probably thought of him as a slug.
Cash had it easy. Katherine was clearly tolerant of Cash, and vice versa. He was a slug, and Katherine was the murderous wooing 101 teacher that made him go through hell. “ Why am I still here, Ironwoods?” he mumbled tiredly. “ Okay, I get that she should be supported, but wouldn’t she puke out my support if she could? Is my support even genuine?”
The first round started and Hanako watched Katherine evasively dance around the 2 spells thrown at her like it was nothing. “ Okay, yea my support is genuine cause that was friggin cool. But it’s not about me, isn’t it?”
He wasn’t planning to start an argument with Ironwoods. They weren’t holding him down at all now. Nothing was stopping him from leaving but his feet were still planted on the ground. As if waiting for their response, expecting assurance that in one alternate universe, Katherine wouldn’t gracefully knock him out for showing support.

At first Cash had no intention watching today's duels. They did not care who playing against who. Cash plan to catch up on their sleep or doing something unproductive that day. But that plan was out of the window when a group of first year saying that they wanted to see Samantha in action. That whisper alone pique Cash interest.
And so they decide to march up toward the Dueling Club. When they looked up at the poster and saw the lineups for today's matches, Cash decided to stick around. The crowd already gathered when they arrived. Not long after that, the duelists entered the room. Alec entered the room with confidence that Cash never knew he had in him.
He acted like he own the place. Before the match began, it seems something happened between Alec and Dealla last year. Last year Cash only show up to watch Starlee perform and never paid much attention to the other Duelists. I guess there's a first time for everything. Cash thought to themselves.
Amongst the cheering crowd, Cash could hear a faint voice that similar to Tone supporting the third-year Duelist. They did not know that Tone was friends with Dealla. It is hard to imagine that Tone had any friends that he is on good terms with. After the referee gave his opening speech, the duel finally commenced.
Spells flying left and right and soon the room abrupt with laughter from both Alec and Sam. Cash had to admit that for a first time Dueler, Samantha was not that bad after all as her spells hit Alec. But Cash would not be caught dead saying that out loud. Hearing the laughter that filled the room, there is a smirk etched on the green eyes' lips.
This going to be an interesting match to watch, for sure.
𝙰𝚏𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚗𝚘𝚘𝚗 𝚂𝚕𝚘𝚝; 𝙼𝚊𝚝𝚌𝚑 𝟻
Morning matches comes and goes and it is time for the second quarter of today's matches. After Cash was done with their lunch, they walked back towards where the action will continue. Cash entered the room and the light dimmed slightly. Gave a soft ambiance. The announcer called the Duelists to take on their respective side of the piste.
Four people stood up in front of them but only one face stood out from the group. Mars T'ien. Their fellow Parsel. It is been a while since they met Mars. They remembered once Cash and Mars climbed up to the highest tower back when both of them were in their first year. Hoping someone caught them but it never comes to fruition.
As the announcer gave a signal for the Dueling commenced, each of them chose different spells to hit their opponents. Mars spell almost hit her opponent, so did their partner. But one of the Gryffindor players managed to hit Mars with the Fire-Making spell. Mars robes were aflame and Cash tried not to think how hurt it must be.
Being set on fire must be hurt a lot. Thank Merlin for magic remedies. If they did not have that, Cash surely thinks there will be a lot of Dueling players already sustained burn scars. "THIS ISN'T OVER YET, MARS!,"They shout above the cheering, hoping Mars could hear them. "SHOW THEM THAT THE EAGLES GOT WHAT IT TAKES AND CRUSHED THE LIONS"They yelled out at the top of their lungs.
It seems Dueling starting to crawl into their heart slowly. Cash never thought that they could be so immersed and interested in Dueling as they did right now.
𝙰𝚏𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚗𝚘𝚘𝚗 𝚂𝚕𝚘𝚝; 𝙼𝚊𝚝𝚌𝚑 𝟼
Last match of the day. Cash should have gone down to the Great Hall to fetch some water to quench their drying and hoarse throat from all the yelling but Cash did not dare to leave the perimeter. After Mars matches were over and some of the crowd thinning out, they spotted one person that they would drag to watch this whole deal.
Tone was about to leave the place but Cash grabbed his wrist, preventing him from going anywhere. Once Cash realized what they had just done, Cash dropped Tone's wrist like it was an acid. “Why am I still here, Ironwoods?”He asked Cash tiredly. "To support Kath, of course"They replied with certainty.
"I heard you cheer for Mars and you want to leave when Kath was about to take on the stage for the first time?"They inquired Tone rhetorically. The green eyes deliberately emphasized the first time part. "And here I thought I was the heartless one"They sarcastically said. "As a fellow Parsels, it is a duty to watch other Parsels perform"They added.
"You support Mars awhile ago and now you will support Kath. Why that be any different?"This time Cash genuinely asked Tone without their usual bite. "Okay, I get that she should be supported, but wouldn’t she puke out my support if she could? Is my support even genuine?”Tone answered Cash's question with another question of his own.
"I do not care if you are dying, hungry, or even fake your support. It is important to show unity for our fellow"They retorted and hopefully Tone did not add another argument to that. As Bridget gave a sign for the last match of the day to begin, Cash put their whole attention to the battle that happen in front of their very eyes.
The Ravenclaw Duelist definitely out for blood when both of them gunning for Kath with a double Knockback Jinxed but Kath dodges their attempts like it was a casual thing for her. There is no nervousness or anything Kath shows from Cash's point of view. "WOOHOO, BRO!!"They shout after Kath successfully evaded both spells that slung her way.
“Okay, yea my support is a genuine cause that was friggin cool. But it’s not about me, isn’t it?”Hanako said after watching the first-time Dueler which is Kath in action. Cash was too immersed in the thing that happen in front of them and a bit slow processing what Hanako asked them.
"Not all things and everything revolved around you, Midget"Cash answered after they finally registered what was Tone enquired from them. "Now, keep the talk to a minimum and just watch the darn duel, Tone"Their green eyes did not leave from platform and waiting for another greatness that definitely will be shown in this duel.

Aurora had prepared so many things, from jingle to cheering properties. This time, her red outfit wasn’t a stolen one, it was hers. Though not as fancy as the one she wore during the three teams quidditch match, it was red, which was related to Gryffindor, but her plaid skirt not so much. Today’s match was between the house of the brave and the wise. Had it was a different house, she would not be stressed out about whose side she should be on. One of the Ravenclaw was the one from the headliner team, and the other was the one from the animagus club. Whether or not they would recognize Aurora would be a mystery, but the girl hoped otherwise.Morning Slot
Match 1
Being a morning person, attending an earlier match would not be a problem. In fact, she had been awake since five in the morning, perfecting her banner for none other than the chocolate fairy. His name was simple, but sometimes too simple is hard to remember. Fortunately for her, she had been writing his name in her note book somewhere, thus, she wouldn’t have to suffer from the embarrassment of misspelling someone’s name. It took not too much time to finish everything, making Aurora decide to take a little nap. That short nap turned into a long nap, and she woke up five minutes after the supposed match. Shoot. With messy hair, she swiftly changed and took the banner, then zoomed into the dueling room where the first match had begun.
“SORRY SORRY, DON’T MIND ME! JUST KEEP FIGHTING!” Positioned herself on where Alan could see her, she held up her banner and started to shout and wiggle. Yes, wiggle, she couldn’t dance. “GIVE ME A! GIVE ME L! GIVE ME A! GIVE ME-“ In her defence, the girl was still sleepy, her concentration was definitely all over the place. “-have I said L? Nope! L GIVE ME A! GIVE ME N! ALAN!” Though it spelled as Alalan, it was the kind gesture that counted.

Loki sat by his heels as Henry held the sign, watching the duel. It was long and the teen felt at times like he shouldn't be watching as his eyes followed the sparks being thrown from one end to the others but his ears heard the voices. The words.
A duel wasn't suppose to include emotional ties. It shouldn't ruin a relationship. It should be about representing your house, right? At least that's what Henry heard from the captains of his team but watching the duel in front of him. It reiminded him of another time. Flashes of his first duel in his second year. His first partner. The first opponents he would ever fire at.
The teen remembered exchanging banter with Amara on the dueling platform. At the time it seemed more important, bantering and insulating each other as they shot their spells at their opponents. Alec Mason being one. The teen remembered how it ended, how brutal their words became toward esch other and even toward their opponents as time went long. Looking back the teen regretted those moments....
Not as much as his second duel last year. Aginest Ravenclaw. His partner changed, emotion fuel the lad. A element that shouldn't have happened during a duel. Insults flew from his mouth toward his opponents, similar to Alec that day. The opponent; Dealla Prince. Majority of his spells backfired and for majority of the duel he was blindfolded with the ravenclaw boy. Henry remembered her reaction toward his words. The effect it had after the duel ended.
Funny how something that seemed small and meaningless back then could have sucu large impacts in the future
Henry looked on, wondering what the impacts of that duel would be later. What would come for Alec from the words he continuously shouted and how would this duel end for ravenclaw who only shouted bsck to defend themselves.
Fire lit the stage. Henry felt a surge to grab his wand but he didn't, knowing he can't do anything. It was against the rules. The lad never enjoyed using incendio, using a spell that left damage long agter it was cast. Henry usually only felt guilt and mental pain when he is forced to cast it.
Eyes flickering on each side. Who to hope to win, now? The duel didn't seem like the others, it looked like the highlight of the morning with the words and spells coming from it.
Eyes flickering. The teen had to choose. Should he still hold the banner, support Rose or dropp the banner and watch. Watch the duel go on with the spells flying and words entangleing with them.
Blue gaze set on gryffindor. Alec Mason was his first opponent in his very first official duel. Henry won that duel with his first partner after they exchanged brutal words. Ones that he would come to regret later especially after Alec brought it up weeks earlier. Fresh in the teen's mind. A tad part of him hoping to watch Alec fall unconscious, payback for bullying his friends.
Rose Moon. His friend, sister. The teen arrived there to support her and his other gryffindor friends. He's loyal to a fault so shouldn't he remain loyal to her ans support her during this awkward duel.
Blue gaze set on Ravenclaw. Dealla Prince. His opponent of his second official duel, the one his team lost. It would be nice to watch the girl fall unconscious since he couldn't manage the feat in his own against her. However, the teen felt bad for her. His mind flashing toward memories as he watch spells hit the bird duo and words spew constantly from Alec'a mouth. No matter how the duel went.
Samantha Salwis. A young bird who Henry met once or twice, didn't know much about her but did notice how she defended her parther and herself. The girl didn't deserve to lose or be insulted.
Eyes flickering at both teams. A diffcult decision. Who deserved to win? The teen watched Rose enclosed in flames, his anxiety loomed over his head. Worried for her and the flames. Eyes darting toward Samantha suffering from two spells as the ravenclaw teamed looked to be on the defensive rather than the offensive.
The teen watched as her partner cast a healing spell. The lad always thought parthers willing to heal each other or take spells for each other were the best. Were loyal. Were the ones you didn't want to see go.
Eyes and ears on Alec. His words. The bot was relentless. Didn't he know when to stop, when to have good sportsmanship. Watching the gryffindor, silently. Henry decided on both questions as his gripped tighten on thr banner and he heard his voice carry over to the duel. Loud enough for Alec to hear.
"Why don't you shut it, Mason! Clearly you don't have a inch of sportsmanship like your opponents and parther does!"
Lowering the banner in his grip, dropping it by his side so it was diffcult to read as half lay on the ground and half in his hand hand. The teen set his blue gaze on Alec, having heard enough of the gryffindor's remarks and wanting to watch a duel that wouldn't have lasting effects.
"Your suppose to be dueling and representing your house! Not encouraging everyone to change their mind from supporting you!"
Stareing out. The teen watched the duel. Hoping that Alec Mason heard his words and that the duel would end soon....
My opinions and words ooc are not Henry's. Each person I listed above are amazing and incredible writers! This post is mainly to add some drama to their already drama filled and amzaing duel.
