In the locker room, gear was prepped, meticulously placed on with care to ensure she looked proper and would be protected. The young captain wove her brunette hair into a series of braids that would fall down her back. She picked up the makeup she brought to each game with care, looking up into the mirror. Symbols of protecting painted onto her skin, she stood up from her chair. The green cloak worn by quidditch players billowed out behind her as she spun it around, placing her arms in the sleeves. "Let's do this." Ritual demanded a prayer to Tyr as she left the locker room, entering the pitch.
Music per link provided begins at this time.
She was greeted with crisp air and a light drizzle of rain, darkness beginning to take hold of the sky. The stands packed with students and staff ready to watch another match of quidditch, many secretly hoping for violence rather than concerned about who wins. With a kick, she lifted off the ground and took to the air to join her team. This was their year. The time for getting the Cup ripped from their hands was going to end.

That day had come. The day Dancelos dreams of before she comes to school. She collected her hair. She wore the Slytherin jersey, which looked like her favorite team Holyhead Harpies, it was perfect. The first match would be with Ravenclaw, this team had not won a trophy in recent years. They didn't actually win in Slytherin, but that didn't mean they couldn't. Everyone slowly made their final preparations and started to go to the field. But Dancelos was busy scratching her hands with stress. She had too much stress. Her hands were red from itching. The other team members were motivating each other, and she actually wanted to, but she didn't even think she could talk properly with this stress. For now, it was enough for her to go to the bench. She took her broom and went outside. Her face was slightly wet, the air was drizzling. First row people were flying around the field.Students from all four buildings were cheering. At that time, Dancelos went to the bench. There were members in the second row. Among them was Avery. He looked around as if he was looking for someone. Dancelos smiled faintly as she caught Avery's eye. Then she sat on one of the chairs and started motivating herself.
+Okay, wait, calm down, support your friends, if you have a problem go out on the field and play, that's it!

Aly Salinger was late to the first Quidditch match of her third year. Normally, she was never late to anything, as the little silver timepiece she kept in her satchel was always wound to the exact right second; this evening, however, she had made the unfortunate decision to take a quick nap in the Ravenclaw girls' dormitory before the game- and then had overslept that "quick nap" by about two hours.Briefly mentioning/interacting with @Sylvain Wyllt, @Cecily Quinn, and the Ravenclaw Quidditch team members
"How does one oversleep an evening Quidditch game?" she huffed to herself as she sprinted from the Ravenclaw locker room, newly changed into her Quidditch uniform with her brand-new Silver Arrow in hand.
It seemed that all of the other members of her team had already arrived, from the Quidditch captain Cecily who was already in the sky, to the co-captain Sylvain- who was in Aly's year, though they never really spoke- who caught her gaze and gave her a big thumbs-up. Grinning, Aly mounted her broom and pushed off into the air, returning the thumbs-up as soon as she was steady upon the Silver Arrow.
The curly-haired third-year flew over to the Ravenclaw goal posts, her heart pounding heavily in her chest. This was it- this was her chance at victory. Tightening her grip on her broom, she squinted through the light drizzle of rain at her teammates as a smile crept over her round, freckled face.
Let's do this!

- Keeper's Catch: 10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is in the goal area. If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a team mate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized

With the sound of a whistle and an uproarious applause from the crowd, the calm before the storm was broken. Rain spattered down uncommittedly, but the frigid gale that had harassed the stands during the earlier match had only worsened in its bite. Adrenaline might have served to stave off the chill for team and audience members alike for the moment, but that would only last so long. The immobility of the watcher and the altitude of the player would both contribute to an eventual creeping of the cold. No doubt everyone would be hoping for a relatively short game.

In many ways, the opening of the game mirrored that of its earlier sister. Right from the get-go, players scattered. Only one remained at the centre to attend to the quaffle. Leather ball tossed to the fray, only Tyranni, Slytherin's little Norse priestess, seemed to have an eye for it. Uncontested, she nabbed up the ball and sped towards Ravenclaw's goal posts. These, too, were unguarded. It promised to be an easy score. Or should have been. Perhaps it was the chill in the air; perhaps it was an uneasy sense of eyes upon her back; perhaps it was even the fact that the hoops were open. It was easy. Too easy. Regardless the reason, something took hold of her and she fumbled the quaffle. Before she could set it sailing through the welcoming post, the skin fell fruitlessly to the quidditch bed.
The same would not be said for the following tosses, however. Whatever ill will had gripped her on the opening, she managed to overcome it. The second quaffle would go to her as well, and the third. For one reason or another, Ravenclaw's team had elected to surrender the centre of the pitch to the snakes, and they would certainly take advantage. Again, Tyranni would find no resistance as she sped towards the end goals, this time casting her aim true. An echoing DONG! would reverberate the stands as the games first goal was announced. "Ten points for Slytherin!" Of course, it wouldn't be long before that was followed by a second goal for the vermillion team. "Another ten points for Slytherin!"
Elsewhere, the other chasers would no doubt leave the audience—and opponents—puzzled as to their intent. Lavinia and Aly seemed to be flying somewhat haphazardly. A keen eye might have recognized their trajectories to mirror that of opposing beater, Erin. Speculation might even have suggested that, given the plummeting charge by Ravenclaw Captain Cecily that would transpire only minutes into the game, they might have been attempting to pincer the brawny beater. Evidently, they either weren't quite able to coordinate their efforts, or the beater had managed to out-manoeuvre them as there would by no grand display of a Parkin's Pincer.
Sylvain, co-captain of the Ravenclaw team, could also be seen giving the quaffle a wide berth. Rather than playing the offensive, however, he seemed to be on the defensive, trailing after his teammates and never quite allowing himself to drift far from their oft-dismounted beater, Jorah.Aly had missed the deadline and so her action was voided. As a result, the pincer could not be executed and Lavinia's supporting action was made moot.
Conversely, it seemed Maggie was doing the same for Slytherin. While Koko lingered at their end of the pitch to guard their hoops (possibly the only Keeper in the league who actually acted like one) and Alexx sped off to do as Alexx did best (have you read this month's copy of The Headliner?), Maggie was playing loyal lifeguard to Dan.

Where the quaffle game might have been lacking, the battlefield was not. Slytherin was known to be ruthless on the pitch. Their ace, Erin Ryan, was a frequent first target due to her threat level in the air and could fell a giant—and often aimed to do so—if given half a chance. Alexx was also known for her aggressive plays, and rarely batted an eye at the threat of a penalty lap. If you caught her in the act. Both were joined by Cassandra who, while younger, had proven herself capable on the pitch. The three worked in tandem for a formidable tri-pronged assault, each selecting a different bird whose wings they intended to clip. Permanently.
The first crack of a bat was at the hand of Erin whose bludger was sent rocketing towards Ravenclaw seeker River. Even at a distance, it would be easy to see by its velocity just how much force had been packed into the strike of that iron ball. It sailed towards her, veering only minimally, with a promise to deal some serious damage should it connect. It did not, however. As capable as Erin had been, River's manoeuvring had been exceptional beyond expectation. With an almost effortless elegance, she would manage to dodge it, the bludger sailing harmlessly past to arc around for a new target.
Alexx had been next to make her move, perhaps attempting to make use of the distraction of that noteworthy bludger strike to charge Ravenclaw's star beater. Historically Slytherin's greatest threat on the field, it would come as no surprise to many that he would be targeted so soon into the match. And once in Alexx's sniper-like sights, it wouldn't have been unreasonable to bet on his demise. However, Alexx's flawless streak had been broken the year prior. Once the great blatch queen herself, she had succumbed to stagnation and a string of less than successful strategic executions. This was another such example. Blonde streaked towards brunette, but the latter managed to out-manoeuvre her with relative ease. And when the call came, "Séverin! Penalty lap for attempted Blatching!", Jorah was still safely astride his broom.
Cassandra wouldn't have much better luck. Still, any who managed to pull their eyes from the prowess of her peers to watch her own part in the dance would see that she had clearly improved in leaps and bounds over the summer. Astride a new broom to boot, Cassandra secured and struck at her bludger with a level of confidence and skill not previously portrayed. This time, the heavy ball made a track straight for Ravenclaw keeper Aly. Perhaps it was because of this that Aly hadn't been able to close in on Erin for the pincer assault. On track and closing in fast, Aly was only barely able to avoid taking the full force of the bludger with a last second evasion. Still, one second or ten, it hardly mattered. A dodge was a dodge and she had managed to come out unscathed.
While Slytherin had come in hard on the offensive front, they couldn't quite manage to close on their strategies. Despite that, the sheer ferocity of their attacks would have been enough to instil a sense of fear into a lesser opponent. Ravenclaw, it seemed, did not fit that description. Hungry to prove themselves in the shadow of last year's defeats, they returned fire with fervour. Perhaps aiming to have a go at Alexx's crown, Cecily took a dip in the forbidden pool of underhanded tactics and took a dive straight for Erin. An eye for an eye. Wing for a wing. Beater for a beater.
This time, however, a sickening crunch would sound across the pitch as the two players collided. "Penalty! Cecily Quinn, a penalty!" Green and blue would tangle in a heart-stopping moment; and out of the maelstrom, green would fall. How many times was that now? It was a miracle that Erin hadn't sustained permanent concussive damage. She wouldn't fall straight to the ground this time, though. Not yet. Ready and waiting in the wings, Maggie swooped in to spare her an early elimination, pulling the upperclassman onto her broom. Not out, but certainly impaired. Novice and green in an entirely different way, sharing a broom in this instance would likely prove to be more bane than boon.
Elsewhere, Gabriella and Jorah had managed to take possession of the beaters, executing a well-timed double-prong attack of their own, this time at Slytherin Captain and seeker, Dan. Impressive, really, the level of skill displayed by all players so soon into the game. The bludgers sent by the beater pair were nearly flawless in their execution, their paths aimed to cross at an exact stagger to make dodging either of them nearly impossible, let alone both.
Somehow, against all nail-biting odds, Dan managed to weasel himself out of the path of one of them, and his efforts to escape the second would be a feat all unto itself. There was no denying his skill with a broom. Who needed shoes if you didn't walk the ground; this boy was meant for the skies. But it wasn't enough. Iron met flesh and bone in a jaw-clenching thud made only marginally better by the padding of his armour. He would be shaken, surely; made intimately aware of Jorah's swole gains over the summer. But he would stay astride.

And then there was the snitch. That tiny little golden globe worth a preposterously large amount of points that left many to question the balance and rules of the game of quidditch. Amidst the chaos and turmoil of the pitch, it alone remained impassive. It, alone, fluttered in and amongst the equipment and players without a care to the events that surpassed around it. And it, alone, could change the course of a match in the blink of an eye. For River and Dan, this was the holy grail and the sole objective of their attentions.
Unfortunately, finding that flighty little ball was easier said than done, made all the more difficult as focus was forced to be split and redirected for self-preservation. River would find her hands full avoiding a fall to the moist ground below. As would Dan. But, miraculously, perhaps by Tyr's divine intervention, one of those two did indeed catch a glimpse. Despite the urgency of the situation, despite having to dodge insurmountable assaults, somehow, some way, Dan had seen the snitch.
Ravenclaw might have been the underdogs previously, but they were certainly showing their feathers this match with some unmatched aerial manoeuvrings. Perhaps the birds had a chance this year. Then again, with one of the seekers already catching whiff of the snitch's trail...this could be anybody's game.

Erin was like a moderately well-trained attack dog that knew to attack a target on command. The focus was their Seeker River Dewlight. Lead against wooden bat, the bludger would be hurtled in the direction of the likely suspecting Ravenclaw Seeker. The Seeker would avoid the attack with a practiced grace that was lost to the brutish girl.
Erin's broom would stall in mid flight as she attempted to rapidly maneuver, her eyes only on her target and not on her threats. Erin Ryan was a common early target in these sorts of matches, something history was clear about. Her incredible strength was a source of celebration for some but trepidation for others. She was out of control, that was the problem with taking the leash off an attack dog. Rules are not something she knew how to follow in his particularly delirious state.
A fit of fury, Erin was in blind pursuit of the Seeker. She fully intended to rip the girl from her broom and throw her to the ground. No, it was not a regulation move. No, it was not even a foul. And yes, she was going to try to rip the poor girl apart. It just never happened and someone would take her from behind. Cecily Quinn, that was the name Erin heard at the very least, had collided with the Beater. She was knocked off her broom, she barely even noticed that she was falling until her target, the opponent Seeker got further from her reach.
A delayed reaction from the mad girl that started to flail only to be saved by Maggie. A graceless landing on the back of the broom. Long fingernails would grip the girl's shoulder and Erin would cry out "she is getting away!"

It should have been illegal really, to be as cute as Mathias was. The light in his eyes seemed to brighten whenever the topic of Quidditch arose, and she loved hearing him talk about something he had such passion for. That dumbfounded look was simply endearing to her, and it earned him a wink. His sign was appreciated, even if it was meant to support both houses. How could she blame him for supporting the Slytherin team? Winnie might have possessed quite the fiery temper, but she wasn't unreasonable... Well, not completely. She understood house pride existed and was honestly touched he had thought to include her. It would definitely earn him some bonus points. She would also spot her new friend, Willow, amongst the crowd and would give her a wave before she took her seat.
That didn't mean she wasn't going to do everything she could to make sure her team won. If she got the chance to get off of the bench, that was. She smiled over at Aurora, then wrapped an arm around the pink-haired girl's shoulder to give her a half-hug (Aurora has given me permission to do this). "So long as we're on the bench, our teammates are safe." She pointed out, giving Aurora a small squeeze.
Her excitement wouldn't last long, because the game was quickly beginning. It was hard for Winnie to keep track of who was who. She could really only see flashes of blue and green uniforms. She knew that Slytherin was scoring much more than she would like them to, however, and she winced each time it happened. Damn. They were getting a few good plays in. She just hoped her Quidditch career wasn't over before she even had a chance to get on her broom.

Protect your arms, dear people who sat near the one and only Aurora Ranvier. Even though she was not the beater anymore, perhaps it was the muscle memory that made her do the things she did on the entire match. Once the quaffle was released, her eyes glued on it, while both of her hands squeezed Winnie’s ever so tightly, as if she were trying to stop the blood stream of her upper extremity.
20 points to Slytherin
“WHAT A DRAG! BOOOOOOOO!”
Then two hard slaps on the red head’s hand right after the chaser made each goal. She did not mean to hurt her friend, those were unintentional. In fact, she didn’t even realise her actions. Quidditch games were intense, it wouldn’t be hard to get sucked into it especially when you are the second stringer of the team who is playing on the match. Then a blatch by none other the captain of the birds. The memory was clear as a day when the slytherin blonde beater made Gabby fell off of her rickety, dusty, and almost snapped old school broom. She was incredibly strong, one blow could take down an entire house if she wants to. And the same scary beater fell from her shiny broom, all thanks to the eagle queen. Aurora cheered and gave Winnie an even tighter squeeze on the hand. “YASSSS QUINNNN!!! THAT SLYTHERIN GIRL DID A CHILD ABUSE ON GAB ON THE LAST MATCH!” Unfortunately, someone was on a lifeguard duty. Guess that powerful pretty terrifying beater will not go straight to the hospital wing this round.
The birds were on the roll, was it because of their new sparkly silver haired broom? All hail anything silver in colour, whether it was intact on broom or the lads’ heads, silver hair will forever be a symbol of luck. The ravenclaw star beater did such a good job to get rid of the opposing team seeker, and another cheer and hand squeeze came from the pinky girl. “HECK YEAH SIR BEATER! WH-“ That snake was tougher, of course. It needed more than one bludger to knock him out. She let out a shriek, then hit Winnie’s hand, again. “-WHY ARE YOU STILL HOLDING ON! JUST LET GO AND FALL!” Poor Winnie, she is benched, but already taking damages from her own dorm mate.

outfit:[x] Sunday 24th October 2021, 7pmThe game was already going pretty badly for Ravenclaw. Gabriella cursed under her breath as two Slytherin Quaffles flew through the hoops in quick succession, the Ravenclaw Keeper, evidently, otherwise occupied. It was a shame that Gabby couldn't take control of the Quaffle herself, of course. As soon as she had heard about Quidditch it had been her desire to become a Chaser, but really she longed to play any position as long as she could get on the pitch, and when there was a free Beater slot she just couldn't resist. Besides, she was quite good at it. Nevertheless, there were times - like now - where Gabriella wished she could just zoom in, grab the Quaffle, and win the game for Ravenclaw...
Personally, however, Gabby's current goal was to perform a rather tricky attack on the Slytherin seeker, alongside her fellow Beater, Jorah. If Gabriella was prone to falling off her broom, this was nothing compared to the misfortune faced by Jorah Moussa in recent weeks, and the team was determined not to let him fall off his broom this time. Gabriella whacked the Bludger right in Dan's path, and, for a moment, it looked like she might hit him square in the chest (she only hoped she wouldn't injure him too hard) - before miraculously, he dodged right at the last minute. Gabby swore again. "SORRY, JORAH!" Gabriella hollered, but luckily, Gabby's own misfortune didn't stop her fellow Beater, as his own Bludger careered into the Slytherin Seeker. Gabriella grinned broadly in Jorah's direction, choosing to ignore the jarring clang of Bludger against body, but - somehow - Dan remained on his broom. "WHAT?!" Gabby exclaimed. She sniffed haughtily. "Nicely played, Palmer," she said begrudgingly, before swooping off into the distance. She couldn't afford to dwell on it for long...

Quidditch
When Percival acknowledged him Flash would look over only for a second, looking him up and down as if gauging him for threat level, but had apparently decided the threat was low. With Avery, the boy got settled in and called on another new member enthusiastically. The other was an unknown, but as they were his teammate, Flash would start with a good opinion of them, nodding his head in their direction as they sat.
Avery started out of the gate with a winded question, which made Flash smile. He liked the eagerness to learn that he saw in him, though he didn't expect the snitch to be his first question. It was perhaps one of the most exciting factors of the game, or perhaps he asked because Flash was himself a Seeker.
"It is released immidiately, it's on the field from the start of the game." Flash answered succinctly, watching the players break into action as the game began. "Most Seekers spend the game looking and catching and nothing else, but I have also seen them decide to go for the Quaffle. It's all a matter of what strategy they are going for. If the snitch is caught too quickly, and no other goals are scored, the point total at the end of the year may end up small in comparison to other winners."
As the team blazed around at top speed, it seemed like a rough start for Slytherin. None of the blatches or bludgers seemed to hit their mark, to which Flash would hiss through his teeth in disappointment. The eagles on the other hand had already managed to knock Erin off her broom once, and their co-captain had earned them twenty points in the meantime. It wasn't all bad. Flash would pay closest attention to Dan, in no small part because of Avery's question.
"In fact... if I'm not mistaken... our captain may have seen the snitch already." Flash would continue, becoming distracted and speaking quieter. He would offer the binoculars to Avery. "Would you like to look?"

Drizzling Rain
A faint whistle under the rain, the uproar cheering and clapping of the audience, meaning the game finally had set off. The rain that a few moments ago had been drizzling, now the water droplets came down hard. The chill wind that accompanied the rain did not make any better. Cash tried very hard to focus with the rain assaulting them.
It was a fight, really. A fight between Eagles and Snakes. Both teams wanted to show who got more prowess and strength under this unforgivable weather. But Cash and the rest of the Slytherin Quidditch team had been played under much more heavy weather than at this moment. Cash still hovers while fighting the cold from the rain that slowly bites them.
A blur of blue and green makes it way much harder to see who is who and who did what until the announcer announced that the house of Serpent successfully gained a score. Not only once but twice. "Yes!"They exclaimed to no one but themselves. Getting 20 points lead so fast in this game, their house had the upper hand.
Then the green eyes saw the bludger. That little iron cannonball that usually makes players from both teams knocked off of their broom. Cash gripped the shaft of their broom and leaned forward chasing after the bludger. When they near the bludger, they whacked that menacing ball toward the Ravenclaw Keeper with all their might.
Cash thought the bludger will hit their target but the Keeper managed to evade their assault at the last second. "Darn it!"They protest. Cash blames the rain that makes them hard to see. From where they were situated, they saw a blurred of blue hit green and the green person fell off of her broom. Cash squinted their eyes to take a better look.
And when they saw who falling off of her broom, Cash got worried for a second. Too soon! They thought to themselves. Erin was a formidable player, often scared by so many, and getting knocked off from her broom this early in the game would not do good for their team. But Erin did not land on the ground as another player wearing the same Quidditch robe like them, swooped in.
From the distance Cash vaguely recognize her stature. Though her hair flopped and stuck to her forehead, Cash finally knew who the one that saved Erin from her early demised. "Yes, Maggie! You go, girl!"They shouted under the rain. It seems their training session with Avery and Maggie a month ago before this very day finally paid off.
The new Slytherin Chaser did not let the uproar from the spectator stands nor the heavy rain get the best of her. Maggie show confidence. And confidence is always needed during any Quidditch matches, no matter what the weather was. Cash then took a deep breath, let the cool air fill their lung, and readied themselves to release another attack to clip those bird wings.
