Santario walked the halls with Winnie in tow in a much fowler mood than she had been just an hour ago. She couldn’t believe Winnie today casting a Flipendo at a helpless first-year like that. Sure he had thrown cupcakes, insulted her, and been a general nuisance, but she could have just demanded his removal. He was a child, and it wasn’t in an overseen duel, so Santario was less than pleased with Winnie’s actions even if she was impressed by the cast.Detention Thread Instructions:

If Winnie asked her where they were going, Santario would reply with, “To do your detention.” Even on her birthday? Absolutely on her birthday, the lessons needed to stick, and since she decided she wanted to go off the rails, San was determined to try and teach her how to keep it in and make it work for her. This was not something that even San herself had perfected, Percival could vouch for that, but there could be a start.
Instead of being led to a classroom, Santario led Winnie down the stairs, a route she most likely knew rather well if she walked Mathias to the Slytherin common room. However, Santario would not stop at the common room. She would walk deeper into the basements, eventually segueing into an area of the dungeons. Eventually, she would stop and point her wand at a spot on the floor before looking at Winnie with sharp eyes under a constructed mask of indifference. Scourgify. You can put your gifts there.” While Santario was not always the nicest person, she wouldn’t make Winnie put her gifts on the grungy floor. “Do you remember what I said to you in that classroom a while back? Well, welcome to Lesson one. You will not like this.”

Anger had surged through Winnie Harper's veins like a venomous snake clawing beneath the surface of her skin. She had done just as her boyfriend suggested and used her pain. She had used it to make someone pay. That someone in the moment had been Cody. Why had she targeted the smallest person in the room? It wasn't because of his lack of physical strength or because he was easy to overpower, it had been because his whiny monologue about her cupcakes had been the last straw when the disasters birthday party had pushed the boulder of stress onto her back, forcing her to kneel and bend until she had felt too broken to continue. But then Mathias had appeared, the growl in her ear had given her a new surge of energy. She would take his advice, this gift that he had offered her, and use it to break apart her feelings and craft them into something else; anger.
Winnie had never been in trouble before, had never had to attend detention, but the loss of her squeaky clean record was hardly of concern to her. She was trembling, that hot heat pumped through her body as she silently followed Santario down to the dungeons, further than she had even been before. She had mumbled a quick question to San about where they were going, but that answer was enough to satisfy her. She wasn't going to question her. The girl could have been leading her to her death for all she knew. She hugged her gifts as they silently walked along the damp corridor, her birthday dress rumpled from the previous events of the day.
Upon the prefect halting and casting a cleaning charm, she was still reluctant to set her presents down, even if the spot was clean. She did appreciate the thought behind it, and eventually she would carefully arrange them on the ground so they cradled the most important gift she had received; the first edition copy of the Beetle and the Bard. Matt had given it to her, and she would treasure it. Not that she wouldn't treasure the other gifts, but this one had derived from a personal conversation the two of them had a few weeks prior. She had told her boyfriend about her love for books and how she had felt disconnected from the wizarding world as a child, and he had given her a book on magical fairytales, meant for the ears of sleepy eyed children. Santario had orchids from Percival, and Winnie had a special book from Matt. Staring at the pile, her shoulders slumped forward. It was then that the anger would finally fade and tears would start welling in her eyes again.
When San spoke to her again, she blinked in confusion, until she had remembered what the prefect had promised her after her break down a few weeks ago. "You said you were going to show me how to protect myself." She recalled. She was surprised, but she wasn't against it, especially after what Matt had whispered to her. She gave the girl a nod and turned to face her. "Matt... He told me something similar today, that I shouldn't let them see me cry. Not to let them know I'm hurting, is that... Is that sort of similiar to what we're learning?" She sniffled and wiped at her eyes with the back of her hand. Regardless of what the Slytherin's plan was... She wanted to be stronger, not just for herself, but also to protect Mathias. After all, if she couldn't stand up for herself, how was she going to defend him? "... Please, show me how... I don't want to be like this anymore... I don't want to keep letting people hurt me. What do I need to do?"

Santario took a deep, slow breath as she watched Winnie arrange her gifts on the floor. She did not want to do this to this sweet child, but if she was going to have a chance at surviving Mathias or even Hogwarts, it was time to break down the little girl. Santario’s voice would be quiet, dripping with venomous disdain. She needed to drive the points home, and this was the only way she knew how because she did it to herself once too. “Yes, he is not wrong, but you did not do that. You allowed your emotions to dictate your actions. You turned your sadness into anger and utilized it on a child smaller than you. That makes you just as weak as your tears.”

So it would begin, and she certainly expected more tears to happen as she continued. “The key to not letting people see you are upset means keeping it to yourself. Do not blubber all over Mathias in public. If you want to cry like a little baby, then do it in your dorm where no one can see you.” The shower was also another option and one San usually used considering red face was easily passed off as her skin changing color under hot water.
“You need to always be on alert and in control, so suck it up, form a mask, and stop being weak little Winifred because no one will respect her.” She hissed as she looked down upon the redhead. Winnie had seen Santario in both states with a calm indifferent demeanor and someone willing to express uncertainty and emotion. If she were in a condition to remember that, she might be able to realize that Santario did not mean half of what she said and that she was only trying to push the girl’s buttons. Trying to force her to be emotional.

At Santario's agreement with Mathias, the Ravenclaw couldn't help but cast her eyes downwards, staring at the pink shiny heels that had been smudged with the birthday cupcakes she had spent hours baking. The ones that had been used as projectiles by people who didn't care about her. "I... I did do that... But he was being a jerk." She responded in a meek voice. It wasn't much of an argument and she was fully aware of that fact. Her expression was quickly shifting to express her guilt, as if she were a mere dog who had grabbed a dethawing steak off of the counter.
She gnawed at her bottom lip, a nervous habit of hers that she thought she had gotten over. One that had derived from the days of her childhood, when her father would lecture her. The Slytherin was right again, and Winnie knew as much. "I...I don't know how to hold it in." She admitted, her blue eyes shifting so that they were back on San's face. "T-They just came out..." Her bottom lip was already quivering, and she bit down on it and took in a deep breath, "The only way I can stop myself is by getting angry... So that's what I did."
She blinked up at San in surprise at her next words. She had never quite seen the Slytherin like this before. Her anger had not been directed at Winnie, at least. With her eyes widened, she would give the girl a nod. "I want to be able to do that... S-Show me how. Please." How could she form that mask? How could she hide how she truly felt? Winnie was worried she wasn't capable of doing something like that. That she wasn't strong enough.

“hE wAs BeInG a JeRk.” Santario mocked in a whiny voice that bordered more disgusted. Her face twisted into a scoff as her eyes rolled. “Stop being such a cry baby! Getting angry is one thing acting on it is another.” Santario took a step forward, ensuring that she towered over the girl standing toe to toe with her, forcing the situation to be uncomfortable. Ironically for them both. Santario did not enjoy this, Winnie was a friend, not that she would be after this, but San was used to that in one form or another. It still didn’t mean that San had to enjoy it, but this is what Winnie wanted… Be careful what you wish for.

“You won’t like this.” It was a warning, an out, for the girl to put an end to this. It was likely that Winnie did not understand what she was asking from Santario, but the girl would take it in stride anyway. Now Winnie was much stronger than Santario was, that was to be sure, but there was a chance that Santario would have the upper hand when taking the younger by surprise. Assuming that Winnie has not stopped her by now, Santario would rest her hands on Winnie’s shoulders. “Don’t you dare cry.” She sneered before trying to shove Winnie back as hard as she could towards the wall behind her.

Winnie's eyes widened at the Slytherin's mocking tone, her cheeks heating from her embarrassment. She didn't really sound like that when she complained, did she...? She gulped, her blue eyes flickering up to watch as her friend grew closer. She had never noticed how tall San was, nor how perfect her skin was. It was enough to make her feel like a tiny little bug scurrying among the damp dungeon. "It's a natural reaction..." Not a very endearing one, but it was difficult to control. As someone who had spent most of her life in a tiny social circle (her mother, her father, Jack, and her grandparents), she rarely got into fights. The closest she had to that was perhaps the disagreements she and her father would get into, and he screamed at her, so she did it back. She didn't realize she wasn't entirely... Normal until she started attending Hogwarts.
Surprise could be a wonderful weapon, and Santario used it to her advantage. She left Winnie stunned as the Ravenclaw stumbled backwards from the force of her shove. Her head smacked the stone wall behind her as she tried to balance herself to keep from falling. "HEY!" The girl barked without thinking, her hands clenching into fists. Her first reaction was to scream, of course, this was Winnie and a large part of her defense was her pterodactyl screech. Her mind also told her to fight back, but she had no desire to harm her friend, regardless of being shoved. She huffed instead, straightening out her dress and holding her head high as she approached Santario. Her eyes narrowed into a look of determination. "I'm not going to cry." A lie, quite possibly.

Both, Santario & @Winnie Harper, have decided this RP has concluded enough with the pair eventually still leaving on good terms and perhaps a bit of a tougher Winnie.
