After taking a moment to consider, Pericles and Simon would not be fooled by the tricks of the old Groundskeeper. They knew in her heart that the scarier sounding path was likely the safer. Turning right, they would not have to walk too far. The path weaved around a corner and Pericles, followed by Simon, would step into a small dead-end chamber. At first, there was nothing. Even the sound of the rustling seemed to halt. But within an instant, the empty chamber erupted with life.

Long roots and vines from the enchanted hedges shot out towards the students like the tentacles of a Kraken looking to drag her to unknown depths. The binding roots were fast, launching through the air with ease to fill the small chamber as the tendrils inched closer to the boys. Even with the surprise, however, the two students seemed to have quick reflexes. Pericles dove out of the chamber and away from the roots while Simon impressively slapped the closest vine away as he backpedaled to safety. Standing just out of reach, the students would be able to watch the squirming roots that began slithering back into the hedge.

@Percival Gray, @Winnie Harper

It seemed that even pursuing hedges were not enough to draw even the slightest concern from the pair as they walked and talked down the darkening path. The hedges were methodically gaining but the pair seemed entirely unconcerned as they turned down the left path. As they walked they would vaguely see the path coming to a dead end through the haze of the fog.

In the final approach towards the deadend, Percival would stumble and fall into a shallow pool of mud that had been concealed by an illusion. He wouldn’t be alone, however, as Winnie had no time to save herself from a similar fate and slipped on the mud, landing directly on Percival to cushion the fall. Behind the muddy pair, the wall stopped moving forward but they was now surrounded on all sides by towering hedges with no clear way through or to find a new path. Although the mud they were now sitting in was shallow, they could see that it got deeper at the back of the chamber and perhaps there was a way out of the leafy prison.

Rikki Heine (@Lily Cooper)

Rikki decided that they would make a quick decision in travelling forward. Even with the oddity that was random music in a maze, it seemed that the young student was ready to face whatever consequences their decision might hold.

It would be clear that this was not a straight path, it seemed to turn every dozen feet or so making it difficult to see what might be coming up. But the music continued to get louder as they walked. Louder with every step until it felt as though it was right next to them. As the student rounded a final corner they would find themselves at a dead end. But they were not alone.

Levitating several feet off the ground, an old violin was enchanted to play rather poorly. It was clearly the source of the music. Just below the floating violin, a musty old boot seemed to be dancing around in a circle with the music. It was a party of two with a new guest. The enchanted objects seemed not to mind the visitor, at least for now. But the explorer would have to decide if they wished to further investigate the dead-end or continue on their journey back the way they came.

I slow down the pace. Lin is quite far now. Honestly, why does she care? What is she worried about? What is fear for? That's a question I often ask myself. I'm not afraid. So I don't understand what it's for. I walk around singing a song that is perfect for what is happening.
*When I'm away from you
I'm happier than ever
Wish I could explain it better
I wish it wasn't true*

Billie Eilish's new album is just awesome. I keep singing for a few minutes while I get closer to the magic violin and boot. I'm bummed. I thought at least someone would be there. While getting mad at the stupid maze, I turn back.
Why does this always happen to me? I'M SURE NO ONE ELSE HAS FELL INTO THE TRAP!
Yes, I am a tempestuous screamer who loves to annoy her sister. So what if I am? I did karate too. So you better not piss me off again. First Lin, then that weird boot. What's gonna happen to me next?
Rikki? Is that you?
It had to be, didn't it?Lin had to go the way I did. I give Lin a slightly hypocritical smile (I admit it) before continuing my way. But of course, Lin doesn't catch me by the arm. When I turn around, she has a pleading look on her face.
There's no point in going through it. Unless you want to see a boot dance. If you want to follow me, follow me. But I'll ignore you. Let my arm now!

Interacting with @Winnie Harper
His comments only further angered the Irish girl as they walked, forcing her to state where her loyalties lay. It was clear she wasn't letting down how close she was to Matt now, considering how different their personalities seemed to be. When she mentioned Matt was the only person who was ever interested in her, Grays brow lifted from the comment. So Jack has never shown interest? something seemed off about that. Even with that suspicion, Percival chose to stay silent up until now, letting the girl vent about how wrong he was.

"I never jump to conclusions Winnie, I speak when I know it's fact," the prefect said, before saying how Matt was a servant to her. This only seemed to pull a string as Winnie rushed over to him in anger, releasing another torrent of words his way. Harper was like a well oiled engine when it came to speaking, once she started she never seemed to stop. All Gray could do was smirk from her words, almost as if whatever she was saying seemed humorous to him. However, before she could finish off her train of thought a familiar snapping sound was coming far too close for comfort.

The hedges behind them were getting closer in the attempts of hurrying them deeper into the maze. Winnie, who was alarmed by the whole thing gasped and sprinted forward, while Gray kept the same pace just in front of the closing hedge "Hey, calm down Winnie. It's not like a plant is going to bite you" the boy murmured as they turned a corner, leading them down a more gloomy and darker path.

Percival was pleased to know she understood, even if it seemed to displease her entirely "Rugadh agus tógadh mo mháthair in Éirinn. Riamh ó rugadh mé rinne sí cinnte Gàidhlig a mhúineadh dom, rud atá úsáideach go leor ar roinnt bealaí." (My mother was born and raised in Ireland. Ever since I was born she has made sure to teach me Gaelic, which is quite useful in some ways.) he explained, his eyes squinted to try and see what was ahead of them "Más gá, labhróidh muid mar seo más rud é-" (If necessary, we will speak like this if-) Gray was about to say before his feet stepped into something watery, leaving him to trip face first into a grim puddle of mud.

With a splash he sprawled out across the floor, leaving him covered head to toe in disgusting mud. His mind couldn't even process his next move before Winnie clumsily fell on him, pushing his head back down into the mess below "Winnie!" Percival said in annoyance as he tried to get up with her above him "Ugh... why are you so he-" was the only thing he could blurt out before a grip grabbed a handful of his hear and pushed down, driving his face into the rotten mud that had an unnatural stink. Percival thrashed around for a few seconds as Winnie got up and let go, leaving him to raise his brown covered face from the ground.

Being mad was an understatement, now he was furious "Was there any need in that?!" growled the boy while he slowly pushed his drenched form from the floor. His entire clothing was now soaked through, one of which made him cold to the bone. Using two fingers to wipe mud from his eyes he glared a hole through Winnie, who for sure was satisfied with what she did "Great... look what we've got ourself into now" he said to Winnie, his head shaking in disappointment as he turned to look at the ever increasing mass of water before them.

"Right now it appears the water behind us is our best bet. Please tell me you know how to swim" Gray grumbled, slowly kneeling down to tie his loose shoelaces while keeping an eye on the fellow Irishmen "And before we go in, I need to tell you something..." the boy said before suddenly raising his hand from the floor and slinging it into the face of Winnie out of revenge. Snapping to his feet he quickly went backwards into the muddy water, going deeper and deeper by the second "Mud has always been great in hiding things despicable!" he said with a smirk, as he let himself fall into the dark water, allowing to him begin swimming away

Percival Gray seemed to possess some sort of exclusive knowledge on how to get under the redhead's skin. Why the boy was so interested in her romantic life was lost on Winne. Though she could made a few guesses as to why if her first reaction wasn't to explode at the boy every five seconds. Winnie Harper only experienced emotions in extremes, it seemed. "If that's the truth, how do you know all these things about me? Have you been stalking me or something?!" As if she were one to talk. Again, she only felt things in extremes and paying 'close attention' to those who piqued her interest was a hobby of hers. Percival may as well get used to both getting screamed at and glared at while they traversed through the winding maze together.

"How can you be so sure? I've had a plant attack me before!" The memory of running through the eerie forbidden forest while the tree branches attempted to take swipes at her still haunted the Ravenclaw. She would often jolt awake whenever she heard the telltale groaning and creaking of the trees swaying during especially windy nights. Evil living trees aside, there were also plenty of magical flora that were harmful. Things that she had learned of in Herbology class. Despite the girl's love for nature, plants could be scary and one was currently chasing them.

Her mind quickly translated what Percival was saying to her as they ran from the hedge. It was a welcome distraction, at the very least. She was, however, panting by the time she managed to respond to him. "Ró-olc níor mhúin sí duit conas labhairt le cailíní. Too bad she didn't teach you how to talk to girls." Their conversation was cut off when Percival suddenly went flying into a pile of mud. "HAHA-!" Winnie stopped short and went to laugh at the Slytherin's misfortune, but it seemed karma wanted it's quick revenge when she suddenly lost her footing and went tumbling into the mud.

Luckily, the Ravenclaw had a cushioned landing that came in the form of Percival's body. Her white pinafore was still drenched and splashed with mud, but she was definitely better off than the Slytherin. In her mind, he definitely deserved it. She did, however, panic and try to scramble to her feet. She ended up pushing the boy's head back down into the mud in the midst of her attempt. Once she managed to pull herself out of the pit she stood staring down at the soiled prefect. "S-Sorry, I... I was just trying to get up... Heheh..." She should have offered her hand to him, but she had to pause. Her shoulders were shaking, her face scrunching together as she suddenly broke into hysterical laughter at the sight of the usually proper prefect's face. "Hah... Hahahahah... HAHAHAH! PERCIVAL! Your face!" She clenched her stomach as she laughed, raising a hand to point down at her maze partner. She was used to being covered in mud; she did grow up on a farm. She wasn't that worried either, considering she knew a cleaning charm.

She was still not pleased when she received a face full of it. She gasped and raised a hand to shove the substance off of her face, but was still left with mud in her eyes. She ground her teeth as she used her t-shirt to wipe her face. "Well, I guess it's a damn good thing you're covered in it!" She would very maturely stick her tongue out at the prefect before hopping back into the water. Using a simple breast stroke she would swim in the same direction of Percival. Yes she knew how to swim; thankfully there had been a lake on her farm.

It seemed that the hedge prison was quickly becoming a prison of love as Winnie and Percival desperately tried to deny the clear affection they had for each other. Luckily the maze was there to help! After their short trip into the mud, the pair seemed to take it in stride beyond a few playful taunts but they would still need to figure out how to get out of their trapped situation. Perhaps true love’s kiss? Who knows, it might be worth a try...But first they would do a bit of investigation. Or at least that is what they claimed. But it looked more like they were taking an evening swim together under the stars.

Both of the students would choose to swim deeper into the watery mud making them look more like mud monsters than students. Percival would lead the small swim into the mud, but Winnie was quickly following behind. The chamber was relatively small so the pair would continuously bump into each other in the dark mud. Winnie would occasionally crash into poor Percival. Perhaps they were just using it as an excuse to remain close, it was not clear but that was the result. But while swimming, Percival’s foot would briefly hit some kind of lever deep within the mud. It was unclear what the lever actually did and it would require one of them to completely submerge themselves in the mud to use it. Or they could continue to search and bump into each other in the mix of mud, fog and moonlight.

Rikki was not looking to be led into some kind of trap so after quickly investigating the dead end, they chose to retreat back the way they came. Back at the crossroads, there was the path that arched left, shrouded by fog but looking no different otherwise. Or the student could go back to the violin and boot that were still distantly playing their music. The choice rested with them...

Swimming along in the muddy pool of sludge it was quite obvious that Gray wasn't the strongest swimmer. Even though he looked calm, he looked relatively inexperienced compared to the well seasoned Winnie "Come on... the faster we get out of this crap the better" he said while trying his best not to get a mouthful of mud. Gray's face looked uncomfortable as he swam along, not from the mud, from how much energy the swimming was taking out of him "This is why I keep on the sand on beach days" he grumbled before something hit into from the side

To the left, Winnie had accidentally bumped into him, mainly from the narrow passage that seemed to increasingly get smaller by the minute "Winnie, can you please be careful? we're not even that close!" Gray said sarcastically as he nudged her away in the hopes she'd heed his comment. Everything around them also seemed to be dark, so seeing anything at all was going to be almost impossible.

"Another minute of swimming migh-" was the only thing he could say before his foot caught something below, an object that seemed to stick out on the surface below. Slowly, the prefect came to a halt and motioned Winnie over as he calmly floated in the water "My foot just caught something down there. Whatever it was, it seemed to pint upwards and move slightly when I pushed it. " he remarked, his cold eyes glaring down to the dark waters below "I'm probably going to regret this, but I need you to dunk me underwater" Gray said, a deep breath departing from his lips as the cold water began to set in "I hope its something that can point us in the right direction because I don't fancy swimming another minute longer"

Mentally and physically preparing himself, he glared over to Winnie and nodded to say he was ready "I swear to merlin Winnie, don't keep me down there for too long" he warned this time, before momentarily getting forced under the murky waters. Blindly extending his arms out, it took him a few seconds to find the lever which was in his sights. Gray's eyes opened wide as he bravely tried to pull the lever forward, hoping it would at least do something to get them moving in his wild maze.

Swimming came naturally to Winnie Harper. She had been doing it since she was a small child, after all. The waters were often calming and therapeutic. She would float among the cool lake water for hours on end during the middle of the hot summer. "Not me, I want to be where the action is. Why bother sticking to the shoreline?" It was almost... Adorable that Percival was this bad at something. He seemed so confident in everything he had done until now. It humanized him a bit. While she swam as well as a fish, poor Percival seemed to flounder — pun intended. It had never occurred to her that someone might not know how to swim. At least the Slytherin seemed to manage alright, although he was not going as fast as she would have liked, and she ended up constantly bumping into the prefect.

It seemed her temporary like for the boy was short-lived, as he was soon yelling at her to be more careful and not bump into him. "What?! It’s not my fault you’re swimming so slow! You should have let me take the lead." At his nudge, she would splash a bit of water in his direction as a small payback.

"What? Oh..." Maybe it was a draining mechanism? It would be nice to not have to swim everywhere. She was just about to dive underneath and try to check the switch out when Percival made a request. He wanted Winnie to dunk him. She almost told him it would be her pleasure to push him back inside the murky water, but she bit her tongue and decided against the snide remark. "... I’ll give you fifteen seconds." She told the Slytherin. That should be long enough for him to find whatever was below them. If not, he could come up for air and they would try again.

The boy was much taller than she was. At least an entire 11 inches. Winnie had to jump up so she could place her hands on the prefect’s shoulders. With a small nod of her head and a determined look, she would use her strength to push Percival beneath the surface of the water. She took in a breath and counted to ‘15’. When the counting was finished, she released her hold on the Slytherin.
Action: Dunking Mr. Grump Percival beneath the water.

Lin looks at the path I just came from. She doubts what I said. Technically, why would I come back if it was the right way? My sister must be thinking the same thing because she lets go of my arm.
- Rikki. You know it's dangerous here. I feel that there is something strange here. A stranger thing.
- Rikki. You know it's dangerous here. I feel that there is something strange here. A stranger thing. Yeah, I got it. I also know that you're an extreme fearmonger. What's scary here? Really.
What bullshit. Without her, I'd be long gone by now. I'll have finished this part, I'll have faced every "Stranger Things" there is here. And most importantly, I'll be a thousand times calmer.
- Rikki. Please. Listen to me. You can't go into this thing alone. I know you, you're not going to think and run, as usual!
I roll my eyes. When will she understand that if I go for it, it's because it's faster, more efficient and allows me to do a lot of things afterwards. I'm not afraid of anything, but that doesn't mean I'm going to take any foolish risks. Lin doesn't seem to have understood that.
- Shall we go now, boss? It's getting dark and I'm sure her majesty doesn't want to sleep here.

There they frolicked. Illuminated by the moon and stars, the pair glided effortlessly through the water. The lights twinkled over each of them as they became lost in the romance of the moment. Or lost in the muddy water... They made sure that no amount of mud could separate them on their evening swim. Blissfully moving through the mud, Percival would feel a lever against his foot. Perhaps a way to get out. But...was that what he wanted? Did he want this opportune moment to pass so quickly without even the chance to savor one last look at Winnie in the cool moonlight. Or perhaps it was Winnie would have wanted their time in the mud to become everlasting.

Regardless, Percival decided he would do the heroic thing to save them both. He offered himself to Winnie. Offered to allow her to hold him under the water while he would try to pull this mysterious lever. With a heavy heart, Winnie agreed to the plan and forced Percival under...The lever itself was exceptionally difficult to move. But after a few seconds of pulling, the lever would finally snap into a new position.

Nothing happened. But after a few tense moments, there was a sudden bubbling noise. And then a sudden and immense suction. Both of them would find themselves suddenly being pulled towards the back of the muddy chamber and to the bottom of the pool. Winnie would be pulled under the muddy water whether she wanted to or not. It was almost like the entire pool of mud was being drained.

Sure enough, they would find themselves being pulled through an opening at the bottom corner of the pool. A doorway had opened from the lever that was quickly draining the pool and they were spewed out onto the other side. Mud, Percival and Winnie were launched into a new chamber of the maze. Winnie would land first, covered head to toe in the frigid mud, followed immediately by Percival who would return the earlier favor by landing right on top of Winnie. They could breathe now and were no longer swimming as the large chamber had more than enough room for the drained mud pouring through the gap. But at the other side of the chamber was a left and a right path if they even wanted to stop cuddling on the ground.

Available Directions: Take Left or Right Path

Rikki Heine (@Lily Cooper)

The left path would twist and turn several times as it led the pair through the darkness. There were no deadends thus far. But after a short while, it seemed that the hedges began to form a small canopy above them, almost like a tunnel of dark green. As the student continued to move, the roof of the tunnel would get lower and lower. With no stars or moonlight breaking through the canopy, it would be pitch black inside as the student moved.

After following the hedge tunnel for some time, Rikki would collide with one of the walls that she could not see. Somewhere to the left, in the darkness, there was low laughter for a few moments that quickly faded. If the students felt around in the dark, they would find that the path broke off into left or right. But both new paths would require the students to crawl deeper into the dark hedge tunnel. The entrance to each side stood no taller than waist height and in the complete darkness, there was no telling how long it might go.

- Yes. But I'm going first. Who knows what might happen?
Nobody knows what can happen. Except for those who organised this activity. Besides, I'm getting tired of it. Nothing happens. So we start to move forward in the "terrifying passage". A path lined with hedges and fog. Home in winter, really.
- She couldn't look away, look away, look away
She'd wanna get involved, involved, involved
And what would people say, people say, people say
If they listen through the wall, the wall, the wall?

I have a song in my head. So I sing it. But Lin still turns to look at me with an annoyed look on his face, a finger on his lips. If we're not allowed to do anything anymore... We keep going. The passage becomes narrower, darker. I raise my head. We are in a tunnel now. Lin doesn't seem to notice.
I feel like Lin is putting her hands in front of her. It's true that you can't see anything anymore. As a model little sister, I stayed behind her. But now that we can't see anything, I'm going back to the front. I have, I don't know, a feeling of freedom. It's nice. I walk backwards because I know my sister would scream at me if she saw me.
I bump into a wall. It doesn't make much noise, I don't think Lin heard. A wall. There's no way it's a dead end. Unless it is, and the boot is up to something. Nope. I'm looking for a way through with my fingers. Two passages.
