Chess Combat (Match 2)
[font=century gothic]Interacting with the Viridian Vipers
English • #2E8B57 | Welsh • #0080BF | French • #804080Sarah wasn’t certain she was so upset about her spell missing when she saw the white haired boys grimace of pain. Three versus two seemed unfair to the girl in any situation, including during a competition in which she wanted her team to win. And even though she did want the Slytherins to win, the fact that two of the spells sent towards the opposition’s rook wasn’t too disheartening.
Still, this was a team tournament and she wasn’t about to let a bit of self-doubt and ill-timed morality to stop her from helping the vipers to victory. So whether it seemed entirely fair to the young Slytherin or not, she would throw everything she had at this. She needed to prove herself - prove she deserved to be on her houses duelling team as much as everyone else did. And so she’d put aside her doubts at the fairness of this fight and put her all into it. Maybe later she could seek out the white haired boy and check to make sure he was okay - to settle her own stomach if nothing else.Doing as strategized

RPing as Henrietta Montagne of Ilvermorny
For someone who prided herself so intensely on being a victorious duelist, this match had not gone as planned. Perhaps an off day, but what was more likely to play a part was Henrietta's tendency to gaze dreamily at a fleck of dust waving through the air which was somehow calling to her louder than the yelled incantations and beams of bright light. Her trance was unbreakable, but self awareness kicked in and a hard blink brought her to the moment. Eyes shifting between her partners in order to get a feel for where they were in the match, the blonde girl shook her head and prepared her next action, the one to make up for her blistering mental absence.

Alan had little idea how to describe the happenings of this round to a bystander who had missed the round, because they had gone to the loo for a minute or so. It was pure chaos, aside from whatever Adonis was doing. Perhaps it was the aura of power, perhaps intimidation that was emanating from his own team mates that had him frozen in place without making use of his action. Henrietta would take action and cast a Flipendo, effectively pushing Sarah back a notch into a field of bubbles, destroying Sarah's intentions of moving this round. She would no longer be able to reach her desired field and was thus forced to stay in the cell of bubbles that had earlier on doomed Adonis. Maksim would as well cast a Flipendo, at Astrea, though with her at the edge of the field it would only deal damage and stagger her a little; Alan had to admit it looked quite painful nonetheless. Speaking of pain, Dmitri seemed to take up the role of the queen properly and take care of the peasant figures around him, healing both Astrea and Violet and Alan watched in fascination as some colour and strength re-appeared in their stance. A third Flipendo from Irina would hit and push back Violet a notch, having her end up between Maksim and Astrea, and causing the Slytherin team to form a small cluster formation and block each other's movement, if they had any desire to properly move around the cells. Both Violet and Astrea would hit Felix with two well-aimed fire making spells, one of which was quite the bigger flame, actually causing the light haired boy's robe to catch on fire. He would feel an overwhelming burst of weakness as the edges of his sight began to blur, though he was called back just in time before hitting ground by Amaury who would offer his assistance with a well-placed healing charm that would allow him to stay conscious. The fire flickering on him from the previous round, would extinguish, though not without leaving Felix with a great deal of pain in the process. The fog around him too thick to see, he would misfire his spell that had been meant for Dmitri, making the soon to be fifth year wonder, why he wouldn't just move away from the fogged up cell. After all it left him a prime target to others, as his evasion really suffered through this.

Irina was a little bit unsure of what had happened. Spells had been flown everywhere and luckily she was not anyone’s target. However, her spell had hit its mark and she sent the Hogwarts girl back an entire square on the board. It felt good to be back at it and as much as Irina felt bad about it, she was in the middle of a game where she had to win.

Chess Combat (Match 2)
Amaury smirked as he saw not one, but two duellists on the opposing team stumble back at the success of solid flipendos all around on the international team. It had to be at least a little setback in their strategy, particularly since it looked like their bishop across the board had moved to take a step forward before becoming the target of the knockback jinx. Felix was on fire, again, but by virtue of Amaury's healing spell, kept his footing, even though the kid should've by all means been on the ground several rounds ago. Perhaps this match wasn't going exactly to plan, but there was still plenty of time to get it back on track.

Felix was on fire. Again. Cool. Perfect. This was FINE. In truth he could not tell where he started and where the fire begin, but he could feel it nipping at his already charred skin. He would definitely have to visit the hospital wing after this duel. Unfortunately being set on fire by three separate people meant that he was rather unfocused and his spell ended up missing the Slytherin Queen.

The boy- Felix that was, seemed to never give up, for he had already been shot by spells many times but he was still standing- surprisingly. Violet was happy to have finally aimed correctly at the boy, but her spell was still not enough for him to leave the game. But she was really happy to see that the white-haired guy was on fire at last. Time to move on to the next startegy.

English • #2E8B57 | Welsh • #0080BF | French • #804080Instead of raising her wand at the white-haired boy on the opposing team once again, Sarah made to move to another space on the life-size chess board. The hope to gain a tactical advantage from her new spot seemed more important than casting again this round. However, as she went to take her step, she felt a sudden pressure against her chest which caused her to stumble backwards instead. The Slytherin had just enough time to scowl at the blonde who had cast the spell at her before she was shrouded in a cloud of bubbles which partly obscured her vision. She huffed, irritated that instead of gaining the tactical advantage as she'd planned, she was now worse off than she started. And to add to her chagrin, the white-haired boy she'd been previously targeting was still, somehow, on his feet. Though she wasn't sure that he'd be stood for all that much longer if the pain in his eyes was anything to go by.Doing as strategized

Chess Combat (Match 2)
Chess Combat was an entirely different situation than the traditional 2v2 matches she had trained for so long following, restricted within a piste rather than open air like her first year of games. All things considered, everyone was doing a remarkable job adapting to the system.
A burst of healing magic tiding her over and another green ball of fire later, the situation looked as if a strategic standstill. If Astrea had been on the sidelines instead of deep into playground warfare against their foreign guests, perhaps she would have properly addressed the vague sense of begrudging acknowledgement taking root. Truly an interesting pitting of people. D4 was one foot in the duelling grave and the other just barely hanging on by the mercy of his teammates, who themselves scattered across the board, handicapped by smoke and mirror magic. Slowly but surely, the final outcome would reveal itself.
