Reid listened to the two of them, particularly fascinated by their families in the Ministry. Did people like the Ministry? He never heard much of them except through his mom and yet he was learning so much from these two. Reid wished he knew more but the information wasn't something he was really looking forward to anyway. He continued to eat as they talked, smiling crookedly as he tried to absorb t the information.

Reid felt someone tap his shoulder, asking for the jam. He nodded and reached over to pick it up, handing it over to the student beside him. "I interacted with muggles for a long time, to be honest, I still have trouble calling them muggles." he replied rather sheepishly. The boy picked up his goblet and took a drink from it, setting it down to continue speaking. "I guess, I've lived with them for so long that it's weird to think I'm any different from them. But now I'm learning more about this world, so it's interesting. I don't know much about the Ministry ..."

Reid continued to finish chewing his toast, eyeing some of the students past their table. He was looking for Sabrina, but perhaps she wasn't at breakfast yet. "But my mum said much of her family worked as uh ... Auth - Aurors. Dark wizard catchers I guess, but I don't know much about it." he mused, looking down to pick at his food.

"Trouble usually finds me."

Cynthia was interested in hearing about Reid’s interactions with muggles.  She didn’t have much experience with muggles herself.  “Your family has worked as Aurors, Reid?  That’s interesting.  I wonder if my dad knows any of them.  If not, maybe he has heard of them.  Perhaps I’ll ask him in my next letter home,” Cynthia told him with a smile.  She liked hearing about other families, whether they were magical or not.

Her parents fully enjoyed their work at the Ministry.  They have their good days and they have their bad days.  She poured herself another goblet of pumpkin juice and took a sip of it.  “Mmm,” she said as she swallowed the cold liquid.  “I like the things we have in the wizarding world.  Though I am sometimes curious about things in the muggle world.  My parents bought a book for me about the wizarding world.  It tells about the things we use and jobs and stuff like that.  You may borrow it if you like,” Cynthia told him.  “If you’d like, I can tell you what I know about the Ministry of Magic,” she added.  She knew plenty about the Ministry since both of her parents were employed there.  Sometimes Cynthia wished she could visit them there more often.  She can visit them at the Ministry only a few times during the year.  With her now being at Hogwarts, those visits will be even fewer.
