Hogwarts Summer Camp 2021 Chess Combat (Match 2) Closed

Adonis seemed to not be able to catch a break as another spent was sent hurling towards him and knocked him down. He was starting to feel more drained at this point and slowly using the once fully energized self he originally had been at the start of the duel. Upon impact of the Knockback Spell slamming into his gut, the wind was immediately knocked out of him and found himself sprawled out on the floor shortly after. It managed to completely knock him off his feet and it made him take a minute to try and catch his breath even, grasping for the air that he could from his spot on the ground. It really hurt much more than he imagined it would or did in the moment at least, leaving him to take a good few to recuperate. Hopefully the feeling would pass soon enough though so he could join the others in fighting against their opponents. With that, Adonis would do the obvious and muster up the strength to stand up once again.

Dmitri looked on in an almost manic glee as the student right in front of him took to the air through his impeccably cast Wingardium Leviosa. "How's the breeze up there?" He'd call out to the boy, obviously enjoying the spectacle.

"I'm sure it's lovely. You can almost see Durmstrang up there!" Dmitri's grin would widen as one of his teammates' spells landed upon their helpless opponent, as well. "....Or whatever school you came from. Didn't care enough to check beforehand, and probably never will."

Though it might seem the boy was highly focused on bringing the most torment upon their opponents—this one in particular, it couldn't be said that there wasn't a plan behind everything.

A method to the madness, as some would say.

And Dmitri would dare wager everything was going very smoothly towards that desired goal.

Anot her spell aimed directly at the poor Slytherin boy diagonal from Amaury came into contact, this time knocking the boy directly off his feet. He wasn't quite on the ground for good, but with Amaury's immaculate spellcasting, the boy was sure to be there soon.

He anticipated another spell from the relentless girl across the board, but she seemed to take a different course of action this time, stepping behind her team's Queen. If you can't beat him, change your strategy, Amaury supposed. It was likely for the best for the opposing team, considering, after all, the massive success the Slytherin girl had been having all game.

Felix had never been fond of being the first man out in a duelling match, but considering the alternative of Ret getting set on fire or flipendo’d, he would gladly take the hit. Fate had once been a kind mistress and had done his bidding, but now its dark unforgiving tendrils had wrapped around him, attempting to drain his very life force. He was floating in the air and on fire. He’d been in worse situations.

Luckily, only one incendio had hit him. The dancing fire’s flames seemed to whip viciously at his flesh. Did it hurt? Of course it did, but it wasn’t his first time being incendio’d, it and most certainly would not be his last. He had quite a few scars from the spell. The only reaction the fire would win was a small wince.

He would quirk his brow at the Slytherin boy as he taunted him. He hadn’t really paid the loudmouth much attention before, but now his words were sinking in and... His lips were twisting into a wide grin, and laughter erupted from his throat. "Yes, congratulations on managing to hit someone with a spell, Queenie. Why don’t you show me if you can do it again? Or will all four of you try casting? Come on, don’t tempt me with a good time and back out midway." If he could see through the fog, he would tease the boy with a wink. He was going down anyway. Why not have some fun with it? "Santario! Make sure you snap a good one." He had been disappointed when he had discovered he wouldn’t be duelling the girl he had met at the Beckett Ball, but he had seen her snapping photographs in the audience, so he knew she was present.

Untargeted for once, Astrea forewent the rampant spellcasting occurring all over the board and instead slid her position leftwards, gleaming sparks of her slowly abating affliction popping upwards to darken spots of durable dark fabric. The vibrant pillars swayed with something that could have been described as elegance in another situation, its destructive beauty hindered only by the fact that they were trying their hardest to eat her alive.

Brilliant jets of fire and red knockback charms alike traded themselves between the two sides of the board, dipping in and out of the thick smoke capturing the foreign team. To her side, it seemed that one of her teammates was left upon the floor, dazed and worse for wear, from a particularly harsh flipendo- A relatable feeling difficult to forget, even seldom experienced. Ah, things were getting particularly testy indeed.

So Ret was still on fire. His mouth pursing into a slight frown, Max readied his wand and cast an extinguishing charm on the American standing just behind him. Once again, the spell was rather hasty and messy, but it still did the trick. Ret ceased to be on fire, and Max shot her his winning-est smile as a preemptive "you're welcome".

Turning his gaze back to the rest of the board, Maksim's brows creased slightly as he attempted to take in what was happening. Was Felix... levitating? Who on earth had done that? His visibility was rather obscured by the clouds, but he could still tell that Felix, who was now in the square next to him, no longer had his feet on the ground. What the hell?

He couldn't exactly see Amaury through the clouds, but he could only assume that the French student was doing his best to deal some serious damage to their opponents. Gritting his teeth, Max tightened his grip on his wand and prepared for his next action.

Sarah was determined to actually make a difference in this battle, to help her team win. Her spells had missed before and she was trying her hardest not to let it cause her concentration to slip. She could do this, she knew she could. And perhaps she just wished it so hard that it came to fruition or that her concentration was second to none, that the next spell she threw hit her target perfectly.

It took a lot of the girls self restraint not to throw her hands up - and her wand in turn - in ours excitement. Though she managed to catch herself before she embarrassed herself in such a way. It wouldn’t do to look too smug with herself, even when her spell had hit so wonderfully, and it also wasn’t a good idea for her concentration to slip. She did however allow herself a small inward smile - one which spoke of how proud of herself she was despite everything. She settled back into the mindset needed for such a battle quickly afterwards and narrowed her eyes at the opposition. To victory.

ROUND 5

Adonis struggled to his feet after being knocked to the ground, ready for the next bout. Sarah aimed for Felix with a flamboyant Incendio. The fog was distracting but her spell hit. Targeting the same foe, Dmitri was unperturbed by the fog and landed his attack. Felix was just the man of the hour, with Violet targeting him as well. However as Violet was aiming, a wave of unsettlement or even fear washed over her and her spell shot wide. Astrea aided her ailing teammate Adonis as he rose, casting a lovely healing spell.

As for the foreigners, they fared decently as well. Henrietta's eyes glazed over slightly for a moment (no post) and Ana watched the other girl to see if her focus had returned. Maksim would step out of the fog into D3. Irina cast a quite nice Flipendo at Violet, but Violet twisted out of the way well before it came close. Amaury did not relent, targeting and hitting Adonis even as the Slytherin rose to his feet. Felix was the first to land an attack against the Snake Queen, despite his vision being obscured by fog.

Even though the Slytherin boy took obvious pleasure in having one of his opponents completely under control, Dmitri was perfectly content with having him floating in the air for the duration of the game. However, the other student seemed to think it was a good idea to try fighting back with a Flipendo.

The nerve of some people!

Keeping the foreigner levitated completely out of the window, Dmitri instead chose to answer the attack with a spell of his own—a much more powerful, effective spell—and watched as the boy swiftly caught on fire before falling unceremoniously back down to the ground.

That's exactly what you deserve having any sort of audacity.

And for that, the boy just sealed his fate.

He will be going down.
