Chess Combat (Match 2)
[font=century gothic]Interacting with the Viridian Vipers
English • #2E8B57 | Welsh • #0080BF | French • #804080Sarah huffed as she flicked her wrist and cast a practically perfect Incendio which went in the complete wrong direction to where she’d intended. She wasn’t even sure what exactly it had been that had caused her to miss so wildly, maybe just a momentarily lapse in concentration. Whatever it was, it had caused her spell to fly off course and luckily fly just to the right of a nearby tree. Setting fire to the clearing they were in was certainly not something the young Slytherin wanted to accomplish as one fo the first things she’d done of the Vipers team. It wasn’t all bad news, however, as she managed to easily avoid a spell thrown in her direction with little less than a moment’s thought. Her lightness of foot and agility was no doubt from the years she’d spent in dance lessons.
She centered herself once again as she watched other spells fail or fly past her. She knew how important it was for her to focus and not become distracted by what had already happened. Instead she’d learn from it - be more vigilant and focussed on the opposition. Losing, she knew, was not an option. She twirled her wand once, twice, around deft fingers and smirked.Doing as strategized

It was apparent by now, at least to Astrea's high standards, that the way she was approaching the game was not adequate enough. Her spellwork was as well as she had practiced, the incantations ingrained into her magical core with every reiterance, but it was the way it was handled that needed some tweaking. Disengaged and rational she would remain but now with a few rounds in play, she could shift gears to best fit the situation at hand.
With the spread of vision-hindering fog on the other side of the board thanks to her captain's cast and fire still crawling up her robes, sticky fingers of flame pasting itself to the fabric as if a clingy child, they could have a brief reprieve from the pointless chatter. Or so she thought. No matter her opinions on the subject, it seemed that there would be no stopping combat-hungry fish from rising towards bait. Hook, line and sinker, it was ticking closer to the perfect time to reel it all in.

Chess Combat (Match 2)
RPing as iNPC Maksim Aleksandrovich Preobrazhensky. Dialogue in italics is Russian. So many things happened at once, Maksim didn't even know where to look first. He supposed that looking at Henrietta was a fine enough choice- after all, the girl was on fire. Once again, his natural instinct was to attempt to make sure that his allies and friends were all safe and sound, so brandishing his wand, he attempted to cast a healing spell.
It may have been the ugliest spell he'd ever cast, as he was thoroughly distracted by everything else going on around him, but it was still successful. Unfortunately, his efforts were promptly undone by another fire spell (seriously, no creativity?). At least he had tried, right? "Tsk, Ret- be carefuler!" he exclaimed, admonishing the girl light-heartedly. "They can't help but attack someone as skillful as you. Be at your guard, Madame."
Luckily, it seemed like everyone else on the team did fairly alright- Favreau, with his excellent wand-work, had quickly and adeptly fired off a Knockback Jinx at some poor kid currently surrounded by baubles. However, the brief moment of confidence was quickly blown away as Max suddenly found himself surrounded by clouds.
"What the hell?" he muttered under his breath, looking slightly flustered at the sudden turn of events. Well... this was more than slightly annoying, but they could deal with this. It appeared that Amaury and the blond kid, Felix, were both surrounded by the clouds as well, but Max figured that they would soldier on through it. It was only a minor inconvenience, after all- nothing too serious.
"We press on," Maksim called to his teammates, raising his voice slightly in order to be heard by everyone. "Come on, team!"Doing as strategized.

He had to get his mind off of his teammate, he had to focus on the entire team. He would take a step forward, moving in front of the team's Queen. Then, the fog came, misty and clouding his sight. He grumbled, his eyes narrowing as he tried to spot his opponents. Perhaps this was why he didn't see the spell coming. It hit him square in the chest, knocking the wind from him as he flew backwards. Flippendo. What a cruel mistress. The spell had rendered him able to dodge the ventus spell aimed his way.

Chess Combat (Match 2)
Amaury smirked as the boy on the Slytherin team stepped directly into his spell not a moment after he had cast it, becoming ensnared in Amaury's trap. He must have hardly seen it coming, then, as the French boy slung a well-aimed Knockback Jinx in the Hogwartsian's direction. It hit the boy direct, and from Amaury's position across the board, it didn't look like it could've been any fun.
He turned his attention back to the girl in front of him, the one who had been attacking him with the same spell repeatedly, but to no avail. He nimbly dodged yet another one, easily twisting out of the way to avoid the gust of wind from her wand, as he called out to her. "Dommage. Might want to try a different spell, eh?" The one she was using didn't seem to be going well for her, although maybe it wasn't the spell at all that was the problem.
Before he could make another move, though, the board was filled with a thick smoke, obscuring his vision of his opponents and, likely, theirs of him. He heard Maksim's voice from somewhere to his left, calling for the team to carry on, as if Amaury had any intentions of stepping down. This wasn't the end, no; it was simply a new obstacle to be faced and conquered.

RPing as Henrietta Montagne of Ilvermorny
When the light from Ret's wand crashed into the air, it was brilliant; it filled the room, illuminated its path in a strong shade, and the girl's eyes were its humble home. It twinkled in them, and there was a satisfied exhale at the result of all her hard work piercing through the tense atmosphere of the duel. Though, the tension had other plans. It would encase her spell in the sharp attitudes of her opponents, and dance right by the target who diligently slid out of its perfect path. Ret had looked to her own team speechless, especially Maksim and Felix, an apology looping around her tongue. It was an undying shame when such ethereal creations went wasted on thin air.
There was a burning sensation crawling over her, and the incantation for Incendio Duo would ring through her ears with no identifiable source. Maksim would then attempt to heal her, an action much appreciated because between each movement there was a wince of pain, lingering from every other time she'd failed to evade during this duel. She was weakening quickly, but perked as he uttered the spell, feeling a sense of improvement wash over her despite the spell being messily cast. The girl glanced up at him, more heat moving along her flesh, because he had just half-assed that spell and still managed to summon that soothing sensation.
Felix moved into the fog, out of sight, similar to Maksim. Feeling more confident with the effects of his healing spell rushing through her blood, and the heavenly spell she'd just casted (albeit with poor aim), she'd straighten her posture and smirk at the opposing team. It was not over yet. Very far from it.

It seemed to be a wild round, though Adonis must have spaced out or something as he was neither moving nor casting anything. Alan had no idea how someone could space out like that in the middle of a duel, but he would pay it no mind right now as more important things seemed to be happening. Henrietta would target Sarah with a Flipendo, but would miss the other girl as she dodged just in the right moment. Sarah however would hit Felix with a fire making spell, a spell that Alan didn't like much and had hoped they would take it off the allowed duelling spellls, as it could leave scarring and seemed quite dangerous. He wondered if Maksim shared his sentiment, as he would (after having healed her the previous round) extinguish the flame that had formed on Henrietta, saving her before the little flame could actually do any harm. The Slytherin duelling captain, Dmitri would switch his tactic and instead of going for damage, would lift Felix into the air with a well placed Wingardium Leviosa, a spell that would require a lot of concentration, though Alan had no doubt that the Slytherin possessed it. Irina however would miss Violet with her Flipendo, who in return was aiming for, and missing Felix, who seemed to somehow have awoken the wrath of the Viridian Vipers. Amaury would cast and excellent Flipendo and caught Adonis off guard, sending him to the ground with the strength of the spell, making Alan wince slightly at the sight. Felix would dare to attack the other team's queen, though he would miss Dmitri by a lot, sending the spell into nothing until it disappeared. Astrea, different then the rest of the players, would use her action to move to A4, behind her captain.

The other team’s Queen was being really annoying and Irina was planning on just ignoring it until he insulted her knowledge. He had no clue what she had gone through yet he acted like he was superior in every way. She wouldn’t have any of this and needed to teach him a lesson.
Taking a breath through her nose she gave him the fakest smile ever as she said, “Ahh of course..Me who has spent the past 3 years primarily learning the in’s and out’s of duelling under the best teachers Russia has to offer knows nothing about the sport.” She wouldn’t add the fact that she had just switched from that path but would not let her school be insulted.
Turning away from him, she tried to focus on her next spell to cast. It was going to be the same thing as last time and she expected to have it hit again yet the spell missed. Irina would never admit it but it was probably due to that white haired guy distracting her and making her angry. The goal now was to stop missing spells and wait for the time when she could hit him.

A bit too over confident with her success, Violet thought that aiming Flipendo at Felix would be a good idea. For once, she wanted to tell her captain to stop talking to the other team so that she and the others could be more concentrated, but she was a bit too scared to do so. Distracted, when Violet fired Flipendo at the cute white-haired boy, she could not help but glare at @Aurora Ranvier who was now full on yelling at her instead of cheering. That caused her to miss her chance of hitting Felix completely. She glared at Aurora once more, thought said nothing as she prepared for her next move.Doing as strategised
