"Correct..." Percival sighed, looking back to the flushed Winnie with a raise of his eyebrow "Jack Warren? I don't really have much to say about him. And no, we haven't talked all that much" grunted the boy with a small shake of his head, his foot rather boringly kicking a rock across the dirt floor. However, the next thing she'd say would certainly gain his attention.

With a small smirk, he glared at Winnie, almost astonished from what he just heard "You and Matt are a thing? good Merlin" he said as a hand went down his face "Out of all people you chose Matt? I kind of feel sorry for Jack now. All those years being together only to be beaten by a crazy ginger kid who can't keep his lips to himself" Gray said with a roll of his eyes, disappointed with Winnie's choice of lads.

Turning away from the girl he went to the middle path bucket in hand, glaring into the gloomy distance that was ahead of them "I doubt it, not many of them would have the stomach go in by themselves, let alone without a full group" Gray commented as he looked back to see Winnie placing a sticker on the path they were going down. Even if they did know, who knew if they'd run into them. Nodding slowly to her thanks for bringing the bucket, he began to make his way inside "Like I said it has many uses, especially if a certain someone makes too much sound" Gray joked with a straight face.

As the pair adventure forth, they slowly came up to their first crossroads "So do I Winnie, and I'll be sure to heed your warning" he said without any emotion as he stopped by the left turning. The prefect looked both ways and came to a quick conclusion, for now going straight ahead was a safe bet "I say we keep going on this path, nothing has jumped out on us, yet..."

Winnie's brow furrowed at Gray's comment about her sweet boyfriend. "J-Just what is that supposed to mean?!" The girl would quickly huff, her cheeks puffing up to accompany her anger, leaving the girl looking more like a foolish cartoon caricature than a real threat of any sort. "What do you mean all the people? You make it sound as if I had a lineup of suitors, what kind of girl do you think I am, Percival Gray?" Her hands were on her hips now, a narrowed glare shot in the prefect's direction.

"Jack and I are like siblings. He calls me 'sis'. He didn't lose to some ginger kid because he's never wanted me to begin with! ... AND Matt is not just SOME KID!" Yes, she was getting angrier as she spoke, figurative smoke billowing from her ears. "He is sweet and very patient with me! He always brings me food!" That was true love right there, friends, bringing your lover food. "He is very shy; we've only kissed once before, so I don't know what you mean by that. Geez."

It looked like their maze adventure was quickly turning into the 'Winnie and Grump show' because as soon as the Ravenclaw and Slytherin entered the maze, the hedges weaved back together and trapped them inside. The sudden movement from the plants caused Winnie to jump, her arms wrapping around herself. She didn't exactly trust all plants after the night she had spent in the forbidden forest with her Ravenclaw housemates.

"... I guess you'll just have to keep your mouth shut, Gray." Was her quip to his comment about the bucket, a small smirk curling onto her lips. It broke the tension a bit.

"... So much for the others catching up." Winnie would comment, a short chuckle forced upwards from her throat. After Perciles had arrived she had truly hoped he would follow the pair's path. It would seem the maze was rather unforgiving and when they travelled, it would have to be as a unit. "Hopefully the paths will intertwine once we venture further within the maze." At least she wasn't completely alone. Even if her company seemed rather reluctant. Oh well, it would take more than that to rain on her parade. "I would usually say we take the new path, but considering this path's appearance I think you may be right, it might be meant to deter others." That obviously meant they would ignore the warning signs and take that path, right?
Action: Following Percival and going forward.

Northern Entrance

@Pericles Dralt, @Simon Kincaid

Better late than never, Pericles arrived ready to conquer the world! Or at least the northern watermelon path. Perhaps the treacherous path would change Pericles' stance on the Groundskeeper's hag status. But the mighty Pericles not alone! Simon had decided he too would try his luck in the north. Was that the best course of action?

The path immediately bent to the left before taking a second sharp turn to the right down a somewhat long corridor where the hedges seemed to be closer together than the entrance. The narrow corridor would force the students into a single file line. The fog only grew thicker inside the maze but the scent of watermelon held strong.

Eventually, the narrow corridor would reach a fork. One path turned sharply to the left and the other path gently curved to the right. There wasn’t anything inherently different between the paths at first glance. But keen ears might hear a soft rumbling noise coming from the right path. It was faint but a careful student may catch it. Were the northern students condemned to a night of chasing after watermelon smells or was there a chance that they had could make it out unscathed?

Trapped together, it seemed that the pair were ready to share a bit of gossip. For what could be listening in the darkness? But for now, at least, it seemed that they were not deterred by the fact that the path had closed behind them. Perhaps their bravery would hold true and they would emerge on the other side as great victors...Whatever the case may be, it seemed that the maze might have other plans. With all the talk of love, it might have just wanted a little hug. A low rumbling began from behind the pair.

As Winnie took their first step forward down the path, the maze started to pursue. Just as it had with the entrance, the walls behind the group began to close. Slowly at first. Viles and roots pulled the massive walls together, blocking and route back. But the speed began to pick up. Faster and faster the maze would start closing. Almost violently as the walls ripped into each other behind the moving group, gaining on them and threatening to consume any stragglers if they did not keep moving. Several branches nearly whipped Percival as they moved. But as they continued to move down the dark corridor, it would wind its way into a fork. They had to decide fast as the walls behind them continued to pull closed. The paths looked similar. One to the right, the other two to the left but hesitation or discussion would be costly.

Rikki might have reached for the bucket to bring it along, unfortunately, it had already been stolen by master Percival! So all Rikki would have was an imaginary bucket and a bit of bravery as they moved into the Southern entrance with the hope that the staff of Hogwarts would not allow anything bad to happen to them. So into the southern path they went, likely hoping that they would not face anything terrifying like giant spiders or judgemental rock friends.

The path quickly arched to the left, taking the student on a short walk through the dense hedges. With the fog and tight turns, it was challenging to see more than a few paces in front of yourself. But eventually, the path opened into a small fork and the student would be forced to make a decision.

A new path branched off to the left, shrouded by fog but looking no different otherwise. Or the student could continue forward. However, through the fog on the path they were currently on, the students would be able to hear the soft twang of music. The faint sound of a solemn violin placing somewhere down the path in front of them. Perhaps a dance in the maze appealed to them or perhaps a strange violin in the middle of a fog filled maze was too ominous. The choice rested with them...

Simon took a moment to investigate the hedges, looking at the type of leaves and how thick they seemed to be when he heard a voice of someone saying they'd come along. He turned around, glad to know he wasn't alone there in the North Entrance. "Over here!" he called out, so that the other would know where to find him. "Hey. ...Hope we made the right choice," he said with a smile to the other student. He had seen him around several times the past year but never spoken with him. "I"m Simon. Simon Kincaid."

After introductions were made the two would begin down the path in the direction they were headed. First starting side by side, they found themselves walking behind one another as the hedges narrowed down. What if they would just close up eventually? Simon hoped that wasn't the case. It was the thought going through his mind until he heard the low rumbling. Being so skilled in music might have helped, or perhaps it was his dhampir senses, he didn't know. But he heard it, a low sort of constant rumbling in the distance. "Do you hear that, mate?"

Would that be a threat to them? Was something happening to the others that entered through another entrance? Maybe it wasn't something to be worried about at all. The two continued on until they reached a decision: to turn to the left, take the right path, or head back. "You seem better at decision making. You lead, I'll follow."

"Hey. Hope we made the right choice... I'm Simon. Simon Kincaid."
Pericles smiled softly, his voice just as gentle, an attempt at reassurance for his impromptu teammate. "Whatever choice we make, I'm confident the stakes aren't too high. We could surely afford a mistake or too. I'm Pericles Dralt, though most call me Peri." After the introduction, the boy became hushed, disinclined to talk too much when the close quarters called for concentration. He, too, would note that ominous rumble in the distance. "Do you hear that, mate?" A cautious nod confirmed as much. Peri had paused on the path, pondering their decisions, glancing back and forth. "It may be that the sound is an obstacle, one we need to face in order to progress," he calculated quietly. "Or, it might simply be a means to trip us up. I've heard it said that when you're lost in a maze, it's best to stick to the left, but then again... it isn't always the answer." He looked to Simon in his uncertainty, still weighing the possibilities. "You seem better at decision making. You lead, I'll follow." The Ravenclaw flicked a humble half-smile Simon's way, loosing a light puff of flattered laughter. "Thank you... I'll try not to prove you wrong. Let's play it bold for the start, shall we?" It was possible that silent equated to dead end, and surely, they could handle whatever was making all that commotion.

nd, turning my back on her, I start to run. I smile as I imagine Lin's face. A completely shocked and angry face. That's good. She's too protective. I've always said so. I slow down to turn on my wand as it's quite foggy and I can hardly see.
The hedges are dense and the atmosphere a bit heavy. Lin is a bit claustrophobic and must be on the verge of a panic attack. Do not think about Lin. You wanted to leave her, now just go. I go on a bit more, and after all the twists and turns, I come to a junction. In front of me, two paths. No turning back. The left path is like continuing to wander in the fog. But on the right, music. It's much more lively. With a smile on my face, I take the right side.
- Rikki, you never know. It might be a trap. Rikki, be careful, you can't see anything. Pfft. I hope she understood that I WANT TO BE FREE! Maybe she heard like this!

Interacting with @Winnie Harper
As soon as he said the comment about her precious Mattie he instantly knew it was a bad idea. Slowly coming to a halt he turned back to the enraged Winnie who was breathing every last word that came into her mind "Well, you did have a line of boys did you not?" he somehow said with a straight face as she raged on, her face looking more red from anger by the second. It was quite humorous the way she looked, but it was probably wise not to say anything for the sake of his ears.

Then, Winnie began to talk about her relationship with the boy she called her brother. The more she spoke the more his brow raised in astonishment, the poor lad brought her food and only got a single kiss? how traitorous... "By Merlin, I didn't realise you used him as a servant now. I hope he finds new work before you permanently deafen him from your annoyingly high pitched screaming" the prefect grunted, his head slowly shaking from how much Winnie was using poor Jack.

Suddenly, branches began to move behind them, slowly blocking off the entrance from where they came. His eyes caught the small jolt of surprise, but he chose to let it go and ignore it "I know my mouth has discipline Winnie, yours seems to run like one of those old rusty muggle motors they use in cars" Percival quipped back with a smirk of his own, before turning back and continuing to walk down the gloomy maze.

As the pair ventured forth the walls behind them began to get noticeably faster, leading Percy to calmly pick up his pace without a word "There's no need to worry about the others right now. At this current time, it's just you and me" he said in a serious tone as they began to walk up to another crossroads in their adventure "If they do cross at some point, I wouldn't mind the extra help. After all, it's a struggle to keep you quiet with just me alone..." the prefect said sarcastically, his shooting to the left path coming up.

"We're going left, if that doesn't show any good signs we may as well go right he explained as he quickly went around the corner, hoping the branches behind them would go as fast this time "So Winnie, you're Irish born correct?" the boy asked without looking at her, deciding to keep his eyes on what was ahead "Glacaim leis go bhfuil a fhios agat cad atá á rá agam sa teanga seo, sea?" (I assume you know what I'm saying in this language, yes?) Gray said out of the blue, testing the Irish girl to see if there was another secretive way of communicating.

Winnie stopped in her tracks at that question and her face began to turn a hue that could match the colour of the strawberry badge. "W-What are you talking about?! The only boy who has ever shown any interest in me is Mathias Pride." Her brows knit together as she tried to hide her blatantly obvious hurt expression. This boy thought she was some sort of... What was the word they used in romance novels? Harlot! She was being truthful. As far as Winnie Harper knew, from this moment on August 10th, 2021, the only boy that had ever shown an interest in her was Mathias Pride. "I don't care what you think!" She obviously cared a little or she wouldn't have felt like someone had just punched her in the gut. She was used to being bullied, but this was new. At least it seemed the girl was finished screaming. For now. "You...you don't even know me. Clearly you enjoy jumping to conclusions before doing your research. You could make a lot of enemies tossing accusations around like that... Especially around girls."

"You...!" She would storm back towards Percival, oh yes, that comment had proven to be quite the trigger. "Shut up! Matt is not my servant! I do plenty of nice things for him too! You say I talk too much, yet here you around blabbering on as if you know my life! You're the one that needs this damn bucket over your head! You know nothing, Percival Gr--" The maze had seemingly decided it would like to see the two of them move along at this point, and the shifting hedges caused the redhead to gasp and start to sprint forward. She would grit her teeth at the 'just you and me' comment. Perfect. Wonderful. She was stuck inside the maze with a boy who seemed to want to psychoanalyze her lovelife.

She wouldn't have time to argue with the prefect, and would instead simply follow his direction and veer off the path to the left. How could he speak so calmly when there were literal demon plants chasing after them?! "Yes. My paternal family is Irish and I've lived there my whole life." She had the accent to go along with it, though it seemed to get stronger when the girl was angry. "Ar an drochuair, is féidir liom tú a thuiscint. (Unfortunately, I can understand you.)" The girl responded with a roll of her eyes. Despite being homeschooled, she had been well educated by her mother and paternal grandparents. "Buille faoi thuairim mé ciallaíonn sé seo gur féidir leat cur as dom i dhá theanga. Cén chaoi a bhfuil Gaeilge ar eolas agat?(I guess this means you can annoy me in two languages. How do you know Gaeilge?)"

A maze was really one big game of luck. You either went the right way or you didn't. Sometimes you could turn back and retrace your steps, correcting your steps and other times something (most times memory) prohibited you from doing so. In this case, being a magical sort of maze, Simon didn't know what exactly could prevent someone from going back to find the right way.

He was glad to have someone by his side though, even if it wasn't someone he initially knew. He followed his teammate off to the right and while introductions had been done, he left it at that. The low rumbling in the distance was rather forbodding and it sort of told him that they didn't need to talk anymore.

They need to listen.

They needed to pay attention to the maze, to all that was there and perhaps to where nothing was at all in case a retreat was needed. They needed to have some sort of understanding where it all was coming from and try and piece together what may be causing it. Perhaps there was something at the end of the maze once completed, some sort of reward - some sort of celebration. Maybe there were those that entered the maze before him and his partner that had already won the task.
