Summer Camp Mysterious Maze Group 8 Closed

It was already late in the evening when Haley arrived in the light of the setting sun at her adventure today - A Maze. She looked at high hedges and three different entrances and waited for the rest of her team. She wandered around a bit and took a closer look. She had been in a corn maze many times as a child and so far she had made it out every time, but this was probably not a normal maze. Of course it wasn't, it was a maze at Hogwarts, there would be magic involved here. Would the hedges shift? Obstacles coming at them or maybe even vines that would try to pull them into the hedges by their feet?

Haley looked a little closer at the three entrances. At the first one, she detected a strange smell. It was slightly sweet and smelled like... watermelon? The entrance in the middle was odorless, but there was a small note hanging there and when Haley read the words, a smirk formed on her lips - just her sense of humor. At the last entrance there was simply an empty bucket, should they take it and collect something? Haley couldn't yet assess what it all meant but she had already found her favorite entrance. The Middle Entrance.

While waiting for her team to slowly trickle in, she slowly walked back and forth. "Hey there." She greeted everyone with a smile, noting that she didn't really know anyone in the group. "For those who don't know me, I'm Haley." the red-haired girl introduced herself briefly before getting to the important stuff. "What do you guys think, should we split up in smaller groups or go as one group? What do you say to the entrances, I like the one in the middle." she asked further, laughing lightly while looking intently with her green eyes into the faces of her teammates.

Action: Wait for her team and discuss the next steps.

A maze, Irina was going to take part in a maze only 2 days after the explosion. She had only signed up to do it with Nate and now they weren’t even grouped together. In honesty, Irina wanted to quit and not show up. The loss of her friends had taken a huge toll on her and she didn’t feel like putting on a fake face. Then again, she did sign up for this and Irina didn’t back out of things. Even if the time for mourning was short, she wouldn’t forget the people that were lost and would have more time to think about them after the camp. She knew that Bori would want her to have fun at camp and hopefully this was a way to honor his memory.

It was going to be hard though and at the moment, Irina wanted to be done with it. Arriving at the scene, Irina saw that hedges were the maze and was not that surprised. Sometimes this school was just so predictable. Looking at the three entrances, Irina couldn’t care less which one she went in. As one girl introduced herself, Irina tried to get her head in the game. If she was going to successfully complete this maze than she would need to think.

Turning to the group, she provided her own input on the matter. “I’m Irina..I really don’t care which entrance we take and staying together might be a little safer than in groups. It doesn’t really matter though, go whichever way you want to and hope that you don’t get lost.” she didn’t really want to go with a group but thought that the younger red head might be more confident with her choice if Irina backed her up. “I’m going to take the middle entrance if anyone wants to join me.” With that she turned away from the group and faced the middle direction. Wand gripped in her hand, Irina headed down the middle entrance hoping that it would be over soon and she could get back to Nate.

Action: Entering through the middle path

The mood was depressed and Haley didn't have to ask why. What had happened had been a big shock to everyone, but she didn't want to imagine what it was like for the students who had lost their own classmates. Haley herself had seen many sad faces, swollen red eyes and it drove her crazy that there was nothing she could do. She would have loved to give them all a big hug, but she couldn't help it.

The maze, however, might be a nice opportunity to get their mind off things, especially for those who had suffered a loss. The girl who introduced herself as Irina was not from Hogwarts, but Haley did not know which of the other schools she was from. But she too looked battered and it pained Haley's heart to see others like her. "I think the middle one is good." Haley agreed and stood with her at the entrance and entered.

She looked cautiously over the corner of her eye at the blonde girl who had a firm grip on her wand. She didn't know if she should say anything or not. Haley chewed nervously on the inside of her lip until she finally plucked up the courage to raise her voice. She cleared her throat briefly and looked to Irina. "Um, so-" She paused briefly and looked unsteadily at her feet, clearing her throat again. "I just wanted to say that we're welcome to walk the maze in silence." Haley said a little more confidently now, "But we're also welcome to talk." Haley finished her statement and turned her head forward again.

She knew everyone was different, some wanted to distract themselves and often it was not apparent to them that they were grieving at all, others wanted to talk about what had happened and then there was the category that just wanted their peace. She didn't know which category Irina belonged to, she just wanted her to know that she understood everything.

Action: Entering through the middle path.

Interacting with Everyone

Serena was pumped and ready to start this maze. She had no idea what to expect really. The grounds keeper's events tended to be pretty fun, in her opinion, though so she was pretty excited. Dressed for the occasion, wearing some decent armour and clothing that she had, she was ready to play. No maze would stop her! The last maze she had taken part in was quite some time again. The person she was paired with was pretty much the worst guy to be with but this time would be better. She knew that as she looked around the group and wasn't instantly repelled by anyone.

"Hey! I'm Serena!" She introduced herself to the group, for those that did not know her. Hearing the question about where to go and how to divide, she pondered. Observing the three different entrances as she listened to the girls speak, she thought about the choices. The middle immediately put her off. It was not the one she would go for. She liked the smell coming from the northern entrance but the bucket intrigued her too. Why was there a random bucket that looked empty? Very strange! She wanted to know more!

The pair of girls were heading to the middle one but she did not want to go that way. Ahhhh, what to do, what to do. Not wanting to go to the other paths alone, she stood there and just wondered what to do. She could follow them before she was left alone but she did not really want to go to the middle path. Turning to the rest of the group, "Uh so, anyone want to go North or South with me?" She asked, hoping a few of them would join her. If no one agreed, she'd quickly try to catch up with the other two but she could hope, right?

ACTION: Goes North/South if others agree (let them choice which). If no one picks anything, go middle.

Middle Entrance

While most of the group seemed to be happily taking a nap at the entrance, a few brave youngins decided they would test their fate in the central path. Sure they were ignoring the clear warning from the note but that just showed spirit! The young and armored Serena had checked to see if anyone was willing to face the watermelon or bucket path with her but sadly there had been no answer and it seemed she did not wish to be left behind.

Irina and Haley had already entered the middle path slightly ahead of Serena who was quick to follow when there were no takers of her requested path. However, just before Serena made it to the entrance, a rumble began. Suddenly tendrils of roots and vines erupted from the opening, nearly catching Serena as she scurried inside. Undoubtedly her armor would have proved too glorious for any branches but she would not need to test it yet. Branches weaved and pulled together as the hedges quickly closed off the entrance to the middle path, leaving the students standing in the dark corridor with no way to get out except through the maze. Haley had mentioned that she was okay with a silent journey, but perhaps in the darkness, the sound of friendly voices might prove comforting.

With the entrance now closed, the path became darker and more still as the hedges offered no more movement. The path inside would quickly weave to the right through a winding, but open path. A short way down the path, however, the students would be faced with a new option. A narrow path branched sharply to the left while the main path seemed to continue forward for a short way. In the darkness, which path would they choose?

For those still standing at the entrance, they would still have a chance to enter the Northern or Southern entrance but the middle path was no longer available after it seemed to close itself.

How to Navigate the Maze

1. Each round you can choose an available direction to travel or to take a different action.
2. Each moderation will list the available directions for each student.
3. You can choose to stay as a group or wander off on your own. But if you are alone...beware of the orange.
4. Depending on the paths chosen, you may encounter challenges or changes within the maze.
5. Stats will be used in this tread and thus you will need to ensure they are in your trunk.
6. There will be a moderation post at least once a week. Quicker moderations will be done if all active participants have replied.
7. If a participant misses two weeks of moderation, it will be assumed they decided to take a nap and will be removed from the maze for their safety!
8. As always...clothing will be required in this thread!

I am in front of the three entrances of the maze. Well, rather the two remaining entrances. The middle one has closed on all those who dared to enter the labyrinth. I didn't trust it anyway. "Are you sure?", best way to confuse someone. That's why I wasn't going to go by here.
Then there are the other two passages. I don't hesitate any more and take the Southern entrance. I wouldn't touch that bucket. They probably want me to take it. So I pass by it, before looking back. I don't know if I did the right thing to come.
You are probably wondering why I didn't choose the first entry? It's because the smell of watermelon seemed suspicious. Poison, maybe. Now you're thinking I'm paranoid. Maybe a little. But the real reason is that I hate watermelon. Too juicy, too sweet, too light. I really don't like it.
- Hey! Is anybody there? Not even a cute snake?
I love snakes. And that's good for me, considering the talent I have - and I'm very proud of it. So you never know. Maybe there's a snake around here that can guide me through this maze. And I hope I don't meet anyone. Except maybe Eloise. But I doubt I'll see her. You never know. And I can always hope!

A curse escaped her lips in a mutter as she noticed the entrance close up around her. She had almost got caught in it, which was bad enough. However, the worst part was that the others could no longer follow them. She hated it, it was frustrating to think that they were now trapped and could no longer leave through the place they walked through. They would have to simply make their way through the maze if she wanted to get out!

This was not good. The rest of the group was behind them. She was kind of trapped here now. Well... the sooner they got out of this, the better. Pulling out her wand, "Lumos Duo," She whispered, attempting to cast the light spell immediately as she disliked the fact that the maze was getting dark.

"Let's get going, I guess..." She mumbled as she started to make her way through the maze. Before long, they were presented with a choice as the path split up, "Any preferences? If not... Maybe... we should try left? Isn't that a thing? Keep going left where there's an option? Or was it right...? I dunno. But the same direction, I guess?" She mumbled, wondering if that was a thing or if she made it up. Either way, she was ready to start walking left unless anyone stopped her.

If she noticed the other two going forward, she would follow. But if they did not, she would make her way down the left path.

Irina wasn’t happy to be here and would rather be curled up in her bed but knew that getting out to do this would be a crucial step in moving past the bombing. Not to forget but to come to terms with it and begin doing things again. After entering the middle path, Haley followed behind her and soon enough Irina heard her talking. It was nice that they were trying to make her feel better and Irina really appreciated it but decided to stick with silence. “Silence sounds good to me, you can talk though, it’s just been a rough few days for me.” She said honestly to Haley, wiping a tear from her face that was about to fall.

Hearing the sudden movement of roots and vines from behind her, Irina turned around to see Serena running into the maze as the entrance closed. I guess there is no turning back now. Irina thought to herself. She was going to have to finish this because there was now no way to get back to the entrance. Also, it had become very dark which almost made Irina cast lumos until she heard Serena do it.

Walking a bit farther down the path, they came across a spilt in the maze. There options were to either go left or straight. Irina, still being down had no preference and would just go the way that either of her companions offered. Listening to Serena she responded with a simple, “Sure, let’s go left.” With that she turned to face the left path and started walking down it.

Action: Going left

Middle Entrance

With a bit of quick thinking, or perhaps due to a secret fear of the dark, Serena cast Lumos Duo giving the small group plenty of light to see their surroundings more carefully. Who knows what mysteries that might uncover. There was a message scribbled on the wall for the path moving forward that read 'RUN' but beyond that, there was nothing of note. Irina seemed willing to follow Serena's choice and the pair made the decision to begin down the left path.

With Lumos Duo now giving them enough light to see the walls of the maze, they continued down the path. But it did not continue for long before reaching another branching path. Their current path seemed to continue for some ways, farther than they could see even with the light. But there was now a path waiting for them to the left. However...that was not all. Due to Serena's light, they would be able to see a slightly covered entrance. Leaves lightly covered most of the entrance to the right but if they crouched down, they would be able to crawl their way through the small secret entrance. What lay on the other side? Only one way to find out. Or they could perhaps throw Avery inside and hope nothing grabbed him...

As they arrived at the fork, however, the group would notice something that sat just inside the left path. Resting on the ground, barely propped up against the side of the left path was an old teddy bear. Its head drooped to one side and it stared blankly at the other wall. It did not move or look outwardly dangerous. Perhaps it was just Eliseo’s comfort bear, lost in the madman’s maze.

Available Directions: Turn Left, Go Forward, Crawl into the secret path to the right

Southern Entrance

Despising the great and glorious watermelon, young Astoria decided to try her luck at the Southern Route. How terrifying... So into the southern path they went, likely hoping that they would not face anything terrifying like giant spiders or judgemental rock friends.

The path quickly arched to the left, taking the student on a short walk through the dense hedges. With the fog and tight turns, it was challenging to see more than a few paces in front of yourself. But eventually, the path opened into a small fork and the student would be forced to make a decision.

A new path branched off to the left, shrouded by fog but looking no different otherwise. Or the student could continue forward. However, through the fog on the path they were currently on, the student would be able to hear the soft twang of music. The faint sound of a solemn violin placing somewhere down the path in front of them. Perhaps a dance in the maze appealed to them or perhaps a strange violin in the middle of a fog-filled maze was too ominous. The choice rested with them...

Available Directions: Turn Left, Continue Forward or Turn Back
