Blossom Ball - Spring Festival
Kicked out of the ball. Who would have thought that attacking inanimate objects and then starting, no not starting... participating in a brawl would result in one's expulsion. Indeed, this was not Erin's fault, society was to blame. Death witches were to blame. Giants were to blame. Maybe Percival was not entirely terrible despite partially being to blame also, he was probably not a death witch even if he had the face of one. All of this also did not change the dubious presence of the rest of them, the allies of Healy and the lamp, the secret-keepers and forgetters.@Nico Shymane, @Quinn Healy, @Flash Holmwood (NPC), @Vladimir Athanatos, @Kazuo Shimada, @Jack Burnett
She could feel a pair of hands wrap around her limb and with a sudden force yank her from the tangled pile of wizards. She let out a maddened shriek, as her ankle was twisted and she tried to kick him away. "Another deathwitch!" She swatted at Vladimir, her wrist caught in the crossfire.
Enter Yefim, the strange foreign boy that greeted people with violence. Punching was apparently some strange Durmstrang convention she actually approved of, had decided to greet Vlad the deathwitch. "Not a friend!" She shouted, the fact that Yefim, Erin's probable soulmate [Whenever he saw her, he couldn't stop thinking of her. Obviously, this meant he had to dance or make out with her. Or fight her?] was coming to her defense was lost on her. If only she knew the strange, inconsistent passion that welled up inside the strange foreign boy as his fist made impact with the Ravenclaw.
If he reeled back, she would likely be pulled him with.
Nico begged for a cease-fire. Kazuo, the ball director, agreed. Why did Nico have to get everything! The boy was no good! He was going to eat her unless she was a death witch too. Maybe she was, they seemed to be everywhere and she was out-numbered.
"Yes, please stop... Ryan."
She was swatting at Vladimir's forearm.
"Time to leave. You've worn out your welcome."
"But..." she started to protest. "He is evil" she complained empathetically. Look at him, all tall and with the jaw and the dark clothes. He even LOOKED like a cliché villain. This was not her fault. This was his fault. Their fault. He inserted himself into a perfectly fine interrogation he was not invited to.
"Athanatos-san."
Kazuo addressed Vladimir. They're BROTHERS! They don't even look alike. All short and dark-haired while he was all tall and blonde. Merlin damn it! "Corruption!" She shouted, not that it was helping her case.
"I would consider it a personal favour if you would be so kind as to escort Ryan to the infirmary."
"I'm fine," she protested not that it was getting her anywhere. They were not going to believe her. The B-class villain boy was related to the part organizer. Gah! "I can walk there myself," she grumbled as she attempted to stand up presuming Vladimir relinquished his grip on her ankle but preferably both.
"But when the giants and the death witches take over don't say I did not warn you..." She would then look up at Athanatos and add, "and he is evil too!" Her finger would sway towards Kazuo/Flash, "and so isn't Holmwood!" Although it made sense, an obsession of Parcel's doppelganger (Jack Burnett), of course he had to be connected to the deathwitches.

His hand would grip onto the girl's ankle. A strange and bony thing, her skin odd in how slick it felt underhand. Not the product of an intensive moisturizing routine, no it was inhuman. There was no tenderness in his act to draw her from the writhing mass of bodies, although he mentally drew a hand to his forehead as he saw his cousin engage in tongue combat with some poor fellow in the pile. He only knew the youth as the boy that was getting in his way.

Mathias, you earned your keep on this day. Dear Merlin, did you ever.
Theatrics would follow. A screech and a scree as she made senseless and useless declarations. He called him a 'deathwitch', oddly enough she was so wrong she was correct in her statement. It was laughable in fact.
His battle was far from over, the swatting and the scratching of the instable part-Veela was secondary to the visitor, or so he presumed as he did not know the face, that had now inserted himself into the fray. A fist to--- let's say the face, he was looking a bit too pretty today anyways and Yefim would not allow another man with such glorious features take away from his presence.
Yefim's knuckles would make impact with Vlad's cheekbone, causing his head to turn to the side and his mouth to gain a coppery taste. "Ow!" he complained but refused to let go of the rabid girl he was accosting. "Merlin, why!" It is as if everyone is after him when SHE is the one causing a disturbance. "The girl is obviously out of her mind," he declared the obvious.
As she spouted out more nonsense he mostly ignored her. In fact, this was working out perfectly. Kazuo requested that HE take her to the nurse WITH his decoy. All the pieces neatly collected together. He nodded his head, "yes."
Erin would go on about being related to someone - Kazuo? Holmwood? Frankly he was confused but is all benefitted him in the end so he let her ramble on. Yes, see how unstable she is. She is a crazy person. She is leaving now because she is a crazy-person.
"Matt--" she was going on about him being evil. "Matt!" He repeated sharply. "Stop sucking face and help me get her to the nurse!" He would release the awkward grip he had on her leg but maintain a firm hold otherwise as he stood back at his normal height. Not tall enough to be a giant or even a part giant, he was still taller than most.
"Let's go," he ordered but said nothing more.

The red light of Madeleine's finite came as a relief, indicating a successful cast and releasing Cassanora from the effects of the freezing spell. Her grip on her wand only intensified as her best friend regained her ability to move, meaning that Maddie's attention could now land on the one who had cast. A second glance at the girl revealed she looked even more familiar than she thought. Maddie had initially been distracted by the pretty outfit and makeup she had on, but looking at her now through eyes of fury revealed a bit more familiarity. But she still couldn't put a name to the face - that wasn't exactly her strong suit, especially since she was sure they hadn't met before.Regular Text - English | Bolded Text - French | Bolded Black Text - Japanese

"Who does that girl think she is?! Did she hit you on purpose? And if it was an accident, she should have come over and apologized!" Her French was fast and impassioned as the anger she felt was building. She watched as the girl moved towards the fray with Vladimir and the others. When she raised her wand again, Maddie's brown eyes widened.
"Look! She's doing it again! Is no one safe from her?" Maddie cried out, gesturing with her free hand towards the girl casting at a boy who was throwing punches. She didn't care if the girl was trying to defend Vladimir or anyone else for that matter. That girl was officially on Maddie's shitlist - the only person on that list, actually. The first time she'd had a need for such a list. Sure, she'd disliked people and had arguments with girls before, but never had she felt the need to put someone on a list like this.
Madeleine only tore her eyes away from the scene when she heard Cassanora speak, much more calmly than her. "Do you want to try heading back to the other area? It was quieter there... or we could leave altogether. It feels like Hogwarts balls are kinda... insane," She had switched back to English as she tried to calm herself as well, but the disappointment in her voice was still evident. She had just wanted to come to a ball, dance with her friend to the upbeat music (which was still playing in the background), have a good night and maybe meet some new people. Instead, said best friend had been attacked by some crazy girl and was probably regretting listening to Maddie about coming in the first place.

Perhaps Dee should be doing something. Taking action, intervening, trying to break up the chaos that had erupted a while ago and that all her companions had seemed so eager to throw themselves into. She was a prefect, after all, tasked with keeping order and punishing those who went around attacking their peers. Or kissing them. But it was an idle musing, one that had been floating around in her head as she had watched the situation unfold in ever new strange and exciting ways.
Yet, she just didn't feel very inclined to fling herself in the way of spells and punches (the liquid kind or the ones delivered by fist), and she severely questioned how functional the survival instincts of those were that did. No, for the moment, she was very content just taking a step back and pretending it was none of her business. Let Kazuo deal with the mess at his ball. Honestly, although she wasn't a fan of physical violence, it was rather entertaining in parts.
Slipping her wand back into the folds of her dress, Dee kept her eyes mainly on Ruka, who seemed to have decided this was the right moment to start acting like a cliché, more-brawn-than-brain Gryffindor, stepping in the way of spells and tackling people roughly twice his size. Huh. Who would have thought. Perhaps that was the moment to step in? But the biggest danger for Ruka seemed to be Matt Pride instead, and Dee wrinkled her nose slightly at the kiss. No, she decided, Ruka seemed to be handling himself fine. Who was she to judge.
At least the situation seemed to start dissolving after that, Vladimir leaving with the screeching, brawny girl on Kazuo's request. Obviously, the right time to intervene had passed.
Leaning back against a tree, Dee looked down at the apple in her hand, then shrugged and bit into it. It was getting annoying to carry around, honestly, and with the punches being spiked she wasn't sure she trusted the food, either.

Thank Merlin, something finally went right; though she had not been able to save Vlad’s face, she had still knocked Yefim quite nicely on his ass. Santario did not pay attention if Matt had listed to Vlad or not, but she was not letting him leave without her. Of course, she had an agenda, and part of that agenda was making sure Erin made it into Brumby’s care without any other twists or turns of fate. The other part of it was a hopefully unhindered conversation with Vladimir. Preferably one that would come to some form of compromise. The worst that could happen would be that he dismissed her and her ideas. “I am going with you.”
Not that she was sure that he heard in all their minor chaos, but she was not asking his permission either. She simply was informing without giving him a choice, even if that meant having to also deal with his cousin. Santario would walk briskly next to Vladimir as they made their way for the exit, her wand still in her hand just in case.

His instinct was the same as his peers. To push Ruka back. To rebuke him. But he could not. No, there was a facade to maintain. An air of control he needed to keep, that he could not let the firebug take.
"If you wanted some action you could have just asked."
Dumbfounded, he looked blankly for a moment before a noticeable change came over the boy's features. This was not the time to falter. A smirk would eclipse his countenance, a devious smnirk on his face. "Can't a boy just have a little fun?" It was not as if any of them knew otherwise. As if any of them knew or understood the truth, Levi could have potentially figured it out had he truly considered the circumstances of their meeting and the reason why. Nobody asks why, they just accept the world at face value.
"What's the game plan here, are you working up a tally?"
He shrugged. "Sure," he replied. "You you darling are different of course, you're special." An obvious line intended to be taken as such. A flash of confidence, a lie of indifference. "I am sure you can change my bad boy ways," yadda yadda whatever the man wants to hear.
"What are you doing?"
A more serious tone. He was not buying it, playing along with the charade. Winnie was easy to pull along with her satin strings like a puppet in a play. "Just having a good time," his brows raised a bit. "Like you."
Winnie, hun... sweetheart... this is where you rescueme RUKA from Ruka MY devilish ways! He would see his glorious, not particularly effective but still useful savior approach him. Her hands burdened by --drinks? No, no... rip me away from your man! Call me a name, kick me in the ass and tell me to never look at your man again! Good god woman do I need to write your lines for you too!
Kazuo had just kicked Erin from the ball and conveniently asked Vladimir and him to escort the beast of a young woman away. Thank Merlin! If I had not already kissed most of your friends I would have laid one right on you... "I- I am supposed to do a thing. See a man about a something... Take a girl to a place." He stammered, in the end Mathias was just a kid playing a role. There were a few cracks in the facade of course. He shook out the cobwebs and attempted to keep face. "It's not me, it is probably you" and all that. That was the line, right?
"What the hell is going on?"
He shifted uncomfortably in Ruka's strange combination that one might dub a lover's locks he tried with his insubstantial might to push the teen back. Unlikely effective, even if he broke loose Ruka would be able to snatch him a second time. He needed Winnie to break them up, be the Yoko Ono for this band. "Vlad, head off. I will catch up in a few minutes. I--" don't call for help like a nerd. "Think I got a boyfriend," he strained to push Ruka back.

The fact that Matt didn't immediately push him away left Ruka a little confused as he had tried to steady himself against immediate attack, but maybe his grapple had taken the other boy aback enough for him to waver for a moment. Maybe Ruka's questionable experience with non-consensual kissing was finally coming in handy. What a strange skill to be able to fall back on.
"Seems like you're having plenty of fun." Too much even. Too much to not have an ulterior motive, the question was just; What was it? So much chaos, all over the place, so much distraction from what?
Ruka couldn't help the snort that escaped him as he listened to Matt jabbering on, rattling off lines from the countless romance novels he surely cried himself to sleep over at night - You don't need to cover up your sensitive side with those bad boy ways in front of me, Matt. I'll love you as you are.
"Golly do I feel flattered," Ruka retorted in what he hoped to be his best school girl voice, shrill and full of fake glee. It ebbed away again in order for him to ask a more serious question, a more pressing one. If he had thought Matt would actually give him an answer then he had been wrong, because the other boy was intent on playing his little game, seemingly for as long as possible. All the while Vladimir was pulling Erin from the pile of people and it didn't seem like anybody was really trying to stop him. Nobody except... Kazuo was making his way over, hopefully to put an end to this chaos, call for a teacher to escort Erin to the Hospital Wing. Kazuo was going to handle this -
Or not. An incredulous look crossed Ruka's features as he tightened his hold around Matt's neck a little more, as though trying to steady himself, while he listened to Kazuo asking Vladimir of all people to walk Erin out. Ruka wanted to yell, scream into the other boy's head and he could have but what was the point now that the request was already out and Vladimir seemed perfectly happy to do exactly what he seemed to have had in mind anyway? No, his best bet was to focus his attention on Matt again, who was finally starting to seem eager to get away. Heading off with the suspicious looking murder suspect, Mattie? I think not. At least not by yourself.
"Well that's just a shame," he told Matt dramatically, a sorrowful expression on his face. "I'd just hate for anything to come between us right now." He grinned, dared to loosen his hold around the other boy a little. Ruka cast a quick glance at Vladimir heading towards the Underworld with Erin, then one more at Jack who was at least equipped with a torch now, just in case. God, the things you do for...
His gaze returned to Matt, and finally he let go of the boy, eyes glistening with excitement. "Boyfriend?" he repeated. "My, aren't you moving a bit fast? I'll say, let's go on a date first before we start putting a title on our relationship. Now's a perfect time for that." If Matt was going to let himself be startled enough, Ruka would loop an arm around the other boy's elbow to pull him towards the Courtyard; If not, he was going to move on towards the Castle and after Vladimir anyway.
One more look was cast at Winnie, who had closed the distance between them all enough to be within earshot. He wasn't quite sure what her plan was, but with a drink in hand, Ruka could only assume she was waiting to splash someone again. I know you asked for a saviour, Matt, but I'm not sure you'll want Winnie of all people to come at you after taking such a generous sip of that drink. Best stick with me, I swear I'll treat you right. "Come on," he told the other boy brightly, whether he was currently holding his arm or not, moving towards the Underworld. "It's a bit crowded in here. I'm sure we can find somewhere more private inside the castle. A place with beds, even."

As Winnie raised the pitcher to her lips, her senses were overcome with an alluring scent... The pages of a book. She was transported back, momentarily, within her memories of her grandparent’s bookstore, her nose buried in a new novel. Then a second scent hit her; the scent of burning wood. A fire within the farmhouse’s wood stove. It crackled and danced as she and her mother huddled together, warming themselves in defiance of a winter morning’s cold nip. The smell of the salty sea air, and the promise of a summer’s day spent together as a family. The scent of wildflowers dancing in the spring breeze as she and her mother crafted bouquets for their neighbours.
It was far too intoxicating for her to resist taking a sip. No, not simply a sip. She would gulp back at least a cup or two. The liquid shimmered as beautifully as a pearl, and it went down smoothly. She felt refreshed afterwards, her shoulders relaxing as she took in a deep breath. What had she been worried about again? Oh, that’s right... Mathias Pride was kissing Ruka! Her eyes snapped open and focused on the first thing she saw...
Mathias Pride.
It was then that she saw him for what felt like the first time. How utterly perfect he was. How could she have not noticed it sooner? Suddenly she was drowning in an endless loop of daydreams, obsessive imagery flashing before her eyes. She needed someone to tether her before she floated away. The hue of his copper hair ignited a roaring fire inside of her. He was a flame that seemed to dance in defiance of the surrounding darkness that was their bland classmates. Could he tell? Could he not see what his very existence did to her? What it likely did to everyone in his path? He was too perfect, and the mere image of him alone was simply not enough. Her yearning was a heavy burden, and only he could offer her relief. Still, she would endure an infinite lifetime of pain for him. She would walk closer to him, her hands still clenching the pitcher of punch. Her vision seemed cloudy, and she could only focus on him. Her breath came in short gasps, and it was all she could do to keep herself from running up to him, jumping into his arms, and allowing his name to roll off her tongue accompanied by a bittersweet melody.
"I'd just hate for anything to come between us right now." Ruka would say.
Folks, say hello to anything. Otherwise known as Winnie Harper.
This was it, it was her time to ・゚✧shine✧・゚. She was going to use her third wheel powers, even while under the influence of a love potion. She followed the new ‘couple’ with ease thanks to the disappearance of her bulky skirt. "Ruka... You have taken too much of his time already. Surely you can share him with me? It could have come off as a quip from a girl rather eager to help her hero, but how Winnie suddenly slid her arms around Pride’s free arm would likely clear up any misunderstandings; Winnie had most definitely taken a drink of the punch, and her infatuation had shifted from Jack Burnett to Mathias Pride.
Even standing at a mere five feet tall, Pride was still seven inches taller than the Ravenclaw. It made it all the easier for her to press her cheek against his bare arm and gaze up at him with adoring, wide blue eyes. The scent of cashews, freshly cut grass, and sea water would likely haunt her dreams for the weeks that would follow the ball. "Do you need help, Mattie? I’ll do anything for you."

After a nice, satisfying punch in a dude's face, he'd smile contentedly as he watched him crumple beneath the power of his enormous strength. He mewled a few retorted complaints, but whatever he was saying was cut short when Yefim's ears were buffeted by wind. Yeah, he was flying! Then, BAM, a heavy thud onto the ground. That was one brilliant way to deal with a musclehead-- use his muscle mass against him! Of course, taking a big hit would not change his course. It was a pretty big hit though! Ow!
He would normally hop back on his feet right away, but he was tragically left with the wind knocked out of him. Instead he had to maneuver to his knees first, then slowly prop himself up. He saw his fighty flower being dragged away again, it was that prick he punched and the witch who chucked him with magic. His bae was screaming about deathwitches, and the dangers around the school. Yefim growled like cool guys did in anime, and smacked one fist into a hand a few times in quick succession, as if to check that it was still working.
Not bothering with any of the other gathered guests, who were not beefy enough to matter, he'd bellow with his trademark booming voice, ”[STOP THEM!]” He looked around for his minions, but he hadn't seen them since before the trials. This was going to get in the way of him accepting his crown, but that could wait. They were kidnapping his queen! ”MIK! NIFF!”
Who knew if they could get there in time, or if they could even hear him, but they messed with the wrong Russian. ”[YOU'RE DEAD!]”

@Lucia Fox @Henry Knight @Samantha Salwis────── ☆ ───────Scarlett sniffed her chosen drink, smelling smoke. It was the pleasant sort of smoke, not the dark, poisonous kind that got in your lungs, but the kind that came from a warm fire that you would roast s'mores over. Then there was mint chocolate-chip ice cream, which was really quite odd, because Scarlett wasn't known for having the best sense of smell. But she could somehow smell each individual scent of the potion. Odder still, there was a brief hint of the fragrance that Scarlett recalled when visiting the Knight household. However, she dismissed the thoughts, because a drink with such a clear assortment of scents couldn't be Amortentia, right?
Scarlett chugged her punch, letting its minty flavour cool her parched mouth. After successfully quenching her thirst, Scarlett put down her cup with a bang. "Now that was nice," she announced, to no one in particular. Scarlett was one hundred percent sure that Amortentia wasn't in all of the drinks - it was just a case of bad luck. She felt fine. She felt normal.
She scanned the crowd, searching for Cassie and Durmstrang Boy - Scarlett still refused to give him proper name privileges - when her eyes landed on-
Woah.
A girl. But not just any girl. A girl with the most beautiful eyes. Beautiful didn't do it any good really. Scarlett's mind whirred, and her heart raced. Spectacular, she thought. Glistening, aquamarine eyes like the sea when the sun hits its crystal-clear sheet of blue. Wait, no. That still wasn't good enough to describe her eyes. And the girl herself! Everything about her was wonderful and Scarlett could simply feel her sheer radiance even from their wide proximity from each other.
Speaking of proximity, Scarlett felt the inexplicable urge to get closer. To this angel, to this beacon of light and hope and glory.
But how would Scarlett impress her though? Eloquent prose would not do. No, Scarlett needed something bigger, something better, something inspiring as to dazzle her soulmate with her words. Something like - something like -
Shakespeare.
The thought sprung into her mind like a catapult, and she was off, racing towards her love, racing towards the one. Her pulse quickened and her heart pounded with anticipation as she approached - wow. Her angel was even more beautiful up close with wavy hair that shone the colour of chestnuts in autumn, and those eyes. Scarlett felt like swooning, and the brilliant smile emanating on her wife-to-be's face only assisted with her helpless feelings towards the girl - no, the goddess.
Barely noticing the two irrelevant sidekicks at her love's side, Scarlett threw away all thoughts of consent as she slung an arm round her soulmate's shoulder. She would need to make the right first impression - the intelligent first impression, the romantic first impression - to her angel.
"There's a beggary in love that can be reckoned," she preened, unsure of where the words were coming from. They were simply spilling out of her mouth like a programme, and Scarlett was not complaining. "Speak low if you speak love, - love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, therefore winged Cupid is painted blind. She is beautiful, and therefore to be wooed."
Scarlett continued her declaration of undying love, mixing and matching random quotes her mind had so helpfully supplied to her, all from Shakespeare's many plays. "Here my soul speak," she continued, a dreamy yet determined light in her eyes as she stared into her love's electric-blue irises. "Of the very instant that I saw you did my heart fly at your service. Whoever loved that loved not at first sight? Love is a smoke and made with the fume of sighs." The quotes weren't stopping now, tumbling out of her like pennies from a jar.
"I love you more than words can wield the matter; deeper than eyesight, space and liberty. Doubt that the stars are fire, doubt that the sun doth move his aides, doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love. My passions are made of nothing but the finest part of pure love - for where thou art, there is the world itself, and where thou art not, desolation."
A cough and then came her grand finale, from the famous Shakespeare sonnet no one knew the name of.
"Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thou grow'st.
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee."
A bow accompanied as well as a swoon and a wide smile that sought out praise from her angel, her goddess, her love, her soulmate.────── ☆ ───────
