Amortentia in effect

Lavinia was fed up with this little girl so far, she had inserted herself into their conversation and tried to tell her what was wrong. When the girl responded this time she just rolled her eyes at the fact because she did not care one bit what a little kid had to say about her relationship. Kaz was meant to be with her and some 10 year old wouldn’t change that. It wasn’t worth arguing with the girl when she could be spending the time with Kaz.

It angered her when Kazuo talked to Dee like she was his girlfriend. Dee was everything Lavinia wanted to be in that moment, she had Kaz trying to explain why he wanted to spend the night with her. Why couldn’t it be Lavinia rather than the girl dressed as Aphrodite. Then in response to her foolproof plan of getting him away from his apparent wife he said something that Lavinia couldn’t think to respond to. He wouldn’t love her or even give her a chance because he was loyal to his family. Maybe with a little more convincing she could get him to love her soon. He would soon understand how much they were meant to be and family wouldn’t be much of an issue.

Dee had just said another piece to Lavinia and at this point she was so fed up with how others kept interrupting her time with Kaz. They only had a little bit of time at this ball together and she was determined to spend every second with him. Was Dee right though, had she thought this all through? Everything involving him seemed perfect and was but she was trying to get rid of every obstacle in the way of happiness with him. Was this the right way of going about things to get to his heart? Was she already plotting to murder his girl back home? Surprisingly she was, she already had ideas on how to get him gone but it made sense to her. The fiancée was an obstacle he had for loving her and she needed it to be gone.

She still didn’t care though, as long as there was Kazuo it was all okay. Returning to Dee she said, ”I haven’t lost my marbles, I have just finally experienced love. Kazuo is mine and I don’t need to think it through because it’s true love. It’s just like falling, I’ve finally found the one I’d do anything to stay with.”

Then came the kiss. Before she had fully leaned in, she had noticed that Kaz was trying to stop it, but why was that? Couldn’t he just understand that it would all be okay if he just let her in. The kiss was like magic though, it was dreams coming true and it was the best thing Lavinia had ever done…

Amortentia effect gone

What in the world was going on and why was she kissing a stranger? Like seriously why? Almost immediately, Lavinia took her lips off his cheek, ended the kiss, and took a few steps backwards. She knew what happened the last few minutes and was to say the least, mortified. Her thoughts were out of control.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED! Oh my gosh. What did I just do. How was I just kissing that boy? I’ve never liked anyone before. What just came over me and why did it. Wait. That wasn’t a dream. I actually said those things. I JUST KISSED A BOY WHEN HE OBVIOUSLY DIDNT WANT ME THERE. OH MY GOSH. I’m screwed. Why did I even do that. It makes no sense. Ok, think what did you do before this, could anything have triggered it? Of wait the drink. I drank the drink. I knew it was a bad idea to come here. Why did I even come to this ball. I need to leave. No. I need to apologize. I didn’t mean any of that.

Her face was mortified, she was standing there in shock while she digested it all and to add salt to the wound, Dee had a comment. Kazou didn’t like her and of course he didn’t, she didn’t either, they had just met. Yet somehow she had liked him enough to kiss him. It was insane, Lavinia was not the type of person to do this at all. What made Dee’s comment worse was the fact that she was going to spell her, it made sense. Why couldn’t she just get it over with, it was deserved at this point.

She wanted to think of a good response to Dee but all she could say was. ”Everything I just said and did, I take all back, I can’t believe I did that. I am so, so, so, so sorry. I didn’t mean any of it, it just came over me.” She turned to Kazuo ready to apologize to him and stopped at the sight of his face. What in the world had she just done. Her face was probably looking similar in mortification but still, her actions had caused this.

She was probably looking super pale and attempted to apologize to Kazou ”I am so sorry for everything I just did and said. I drank a drink and it just came over me, I don’t love you one bit and I’m not planing any murders. I am so sorry for what I just did. I mean I am so, so, so sorry, I can’t believe I just did that. That was entirely unacceptable on my part and I can’t make any excuses for myself, I’m so sorry.”

At that moment she needed to find the little girl she had been rude to. Lavinia couldn’t believe that she had even been so mean to her but couldn’t see her. She did a once around and anxiety started to build up in her chest. She needed to apologize or else this girl would always think of her as mean. Lavinia still couldn’t find that girl and wanted to run away from Kazou and Dee. Actually she just wanted to run away from the ball but knew she had to stay here to make sure her apology was received and to conquer her fears.

The atmosphere was a lot warmer than in the place, the Underwold, where they had first been, but still something was different. Somehow the atmosphere was strange here too, but Haley couldn't say why. It was as if the students were behaving strangely, but they had no reason to and Haley shook off her thoughts. Surely she was just imagining something that wasn't the case.

Haley looked up at Simon - he was still taller than her, even though she wore heeled shoes - and smiled dreamily to herself as he placed one of the crowns on her head. She would have liked to run to the nearest mirror, but she appreciated this small gesture much more and now wore the crown Simon had placed on her head with much pride.

Haley looked intently at the many dancing figures and when she noticed Simon's gaze, she was sure they were thinking the same thing. She laughed as Simon dodged boy and shook her head carefully to avoid spilling her headdress across the dance floor. His reply was redundant, but she grinned at him as she reached for his hand. With a flourish, he pulled her close and into a spin. At first her eyes widened in brief shock, unprepared for what he was about to do, but she quickly relaxed and giggled to herself as she spun back out. "No half-measures, eh?" she teased him with a raised eyebrow and corner of her mouth.

Haley loved these moments with Simon, somehow it had all started with a dance and so they regularly found themselves swinging to the music together again. "As if I could ever have refused." She answered honestly and started to giggle. She looked up at Simon, into his dark eyes and smiled at him. Never for a second did she think she would turn down his invitation. "The day I turn down a dance invitation from Simon Kincaid is the day you can declare me insane." She joked as they continued to move to the beat of the music.

Haley wasn't always the typical girl, she could get her hands dirty, she could swear and sometimes she found even girls exhausting and preferred to hang out with the boys. But when it came to balls, she was probably like most girls. She liked to dance, she liked to pick out a fancy dress and dress up. And most of all, she liked it all when her date was the boy she was dancing with. She reached up, went up on her toes slightly and gave Simon a kiss on his cheek, "Thank you for asking me, Mister Kincaid."

Amelia would be lying if she said she wasn't hungry, she was famished. She hadn't ate anything since breakfast as she was so busy rushing to get ready for the ball. As if to prove her point, her stomach let out an obnoxiously loud growl. She laughed at the sound, "Sorry about that. I'm starving. It would probably be best if we got some food before we started dancing."

She noticed Eden pull out a piece of cloth and dab his forehead, she frowned slightly, it wasn't incredibly hot and she definitely didn't think it was hot enough to start sweating. She was curious as to what Eden was thinking to make him nervous but she wasn't going to ask him, it would be quite rude of her to delve into someone's business when they had only just met tonight. Instead, she decided the better option would be to distract him as best as possible from whatever he was thinking about. She unlinked her arm with Eden's so she wouldn't accidentally pull him too hard and make him fall. "Well, come on, let's go!" She practically jogged towards the tables laden with food.

Her mouth watered at the sight, bowls of fruit were laid out along the table along with some platters of meats and cheeses. There was even freshly baked bread and the smell wafting through the air was absolutely delicious. She noticed the house elves, some of them even had flower crowns on top of their heads. She smiled and waved at them before plucking a piece of melon out of a bowl, she popped it in her mouth and let out a moan. "That's probably the best thing I've ever tasted, either that or maybe I'm just really hungry." She laughed before picking up a piece of the bread and adding some cheese on top of it. "I could honestly stay here all night and just devour everything on this table." She swallowed the bread and cheese and turned to the punch. She hadn't taken any of the punch back in the Underworld because she definitely didn't trust it to be just normal punch but right now, she was incredibly thirsty and she was not willing to faint from dehydration tonight.

She picked up a glass of punch and turned towards Eden, "Wanna take some punch with me? I'm in need of a drink, but I don't think this is normal punch so, should we drink it together? Just incase anything weird happens, at least I won't embarrass myself on my own." She laughed, "I'm joking, kind of." She had seen a few people acting weird back in the Underworld, but whether that was from the punch or just them wanting to cause mischief, she didn't know.
Action: Eating food and picking up a glass of punch but not drinking it yet, asking Eden if he wants to drink some too.

What was going on?

Only a few mere seconds ago Opeila had been elsewhere, at the Underworld location with her Gryffindor friend and now... Now she was here, pushed by a crowd to this... It looked more like a battlefield than a place for festivities.
There was someone on the ground- Her ex-boyfriend's namesake, if she recalled it correctly, Percival Gray. There was another familiar face above him, Erin Ryan. Had she tackled him into the table? Opeila had thought she heard something earlier when she had still been in the process of switching locations.

Her eyes widened at Percival's threat. There had been spells flying? God, how could things go so wrong already? Her gaze found another familiar- Vladimir. Ah. That's how.
Opeila joined the little group as well, intentionally keeping her hands off her wand, although she really wanted to grab it. But can't calm an aggressive group when you just prepared yourself to attack, right?

"Hey, how about we all calm down?", she called out. "Put the wands away maybe and Ryan, could you step back and let him get up? I'm sure that whatever happened can be solved another way." Opeila had lifted her hands a little that were empty, visible to everyone. She looked down at Percival for a second, then to Erin again.

Opeila remembered the blossom ball from 2020 too well. She had been one of the organizers and she could recall the disappointment when it all went bad. "Let us not ruin the ball, alright? For the sake of the hosts, who set this all up so nicely.", the Slytherin added.
Entering the Spring Festival, trying to calm people down.

When Charles decided that Cassie was the master of the macerana, the Beauxbatons girl laughed. "Why thank you, Monsieur," she joked.

"That'd be ironic," Cassie said in response to Charles' query regarding whether they might become King and Queen of the ball. "You know, seeing as this is a Hogwarts ball and neither of us are from Hogwarts. They might just choose Hogwarts students to make themselves feel better." Charles switched to English in his next statement, and Cassie copied him. They did that a lot, skipping between languages every few sentences. It was just something they did, like how Cassie and Scarlett talked over each other while still understanding what the other was saying, or how Cassie's cousins, Carys and Rufus, could go through an entire intense game of Exploding Kittens saying barely anything to each other. "Scarlett maybe." Cassie paused, then added, "I have a feeling she's better at all this magic stuff than I am." Although her words were mostly matter-of-fact, Charles might have been able to detect an undertone of sadness in her voice. Magic was incredible, but to find out that you could suddenly do it, but you weren't actually very good, wasn't that great of a feeling. "It's a little annoying, to be honest with you." Cassie's words took her back to the trial of Orpheus. That feeling that, if she could win that race, her lack of skills in magic wouldn't matter anymore - that was something she would turn back for. She could just be Cassie, like she always was, but people would accept her more for it. Not only that, but they'd like her for it. Cassie Heather had spent her life being herself and only herself, but sometimes people didn't like that. The girl was starting to realise that bothered her more than she let on to even herself, and that feeling was new.

Speaking of the trials, that was the next topic in the friends' conversation. "Hermes was awesome," Cassie agreed, though not as enthusiastically as she would usually, her mind on the Orpheus trial. Charles decided that her vision was 'pretty neat' and Cassie gave him a small smile. "It was, I guess. It was hard to turn away from, that's for sure." Charles asked if she'd gotten a broom yet, which earned a real smile from Cassie this time. "Not yet, but Mum and Papa have promised me one for my birthday!" She gave Charles a sideways glance, mirth dancing in her eyes. "Papa actually asked me whether I needed some sort of license to fly one. They freak him out a little. I think he likes to compare them to cars, to make it easier to understand, so I had to explain that they're more like the wizarding equivalent of bikes." Cassie laughed.

Apparently, all of Cassie's guesses about Charles' 'vision' in the trial of Orpheus were wrong. Cassie raised her eyebrows, waiting for what he'd actually heard... and then, Charles quietly dropped the bombshell. Cassie blinked. Squinted at him. Blinked again. This didn't make much sense. Charles fancied himself to be the ultimate ladies' man - he'd never flirted with a guy once. But then again... now Cassie thought about it, she hadn't seen him flirt with anyone at all for the entire trip. She'd thought it was just Charles making an effort not to, but maybe... maybe he'd stopped because he'd realised he didn't like any of the girls he was flirting with. "Um. Okay," Cassie said, startled into speaking English. Okay, Cassie Heather, pull yourself together. (Oh hey, that rhymed.) This isn't that big of a deal. "Does this mean no more flirting with Cassanora? Now that was funny." She gave him a little smile, trying to defuse the mood with her mention of when one of Cassie's classmates had kneed Charles in the delicate area for trying to flirt with her. Also, Cassie was saving the inevitable teasing on having a crush for later.

Charles' anxiety on the subject came apparent when he asked for Cassie to not make him regret telling her. "Dude," she said to him. "What do you thinking I'm gonna do, paint it on a banner and fly it on Mount Everest? Your secret's safe with me, Charlie. As long as I have full permission to tease you about it in private. Charles and Drew... Chadrew? Nah, that sounds stupid. I'll come up with something." Cassie paused, another thought coming into her mind. "I won't lie to anyone though," she told her friend more seriously. "You know I don't do that. If anyone asks me for some reason, I'll just ignore them, okay?"

Charles suggested that the pair should wait for Drew and Scarlett before starting a congo line, which Cassie agreed with before pulling her friend onto the dance floor.

As Cassie reveled in the feeling of euphoria which came with being full of energy, Charles mumbled something which she didn't catch, rubbing his head as though a headache was setting in. Which it probably was - Cassie was certainly getting one. Completely oblivious to her friend's new feelings for one of the ball organisers, Cassie tipped her head to the sky and opened her arms wide. Charles agreed with her, though quietly, and Cassie just figured that he was probably tired from spinning so much. Hah - Cassie could barely remember what being tired felt like right now.

Cassie turned to look when Charles suggested that they should run to 'him'. Following his line of vision with an expression of puzzlement and hopping from foot to foot as a way to release her sudden burst of energy, Cassie saw an athletic-looking boy dressed as - was that Apollo? Dude, he'd stolen Scarlett's costume idea! Wait, didn't she... "Isn't that one of the ball organisers?" she asked, watching with a slight grin as one of the girls he was with leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, before reeling backwards as though she'd actually kissed a poison dart frog. Cassie snickered. "He looks kinda busy. Why do you-"

Then she turned to look at Charles. Cassie saw the expression on his face. And Cassie was fairly sure she knew what was going on. "Charlie!" She grabbed his face, attempting to pull his attention away from the boy and onto her, still hopping from foot to foot as though she just couldn't keep herself still - which she couldn't. "So, what, this is how it works now?! Before, you were flirting with every girl you could see. Now you've come out, is it just gonna be the same but with boys?!" Cassie couldn't help a little bit of anger seep into her voice. "Look, Charlie, I don't care who the heck you're flirting with as long as they're not some random psychopath, but I thought you were trying to change that! I thought you were trying to - I don't know - be different! Be a nicer Charlie!" Cassie had always been amused by Charlie's efforts at courting before, but now annoyance was twisting itself into her words. "Can't we just have a nice evening together without you trying to find a date as well?!"

A Moment in the past

Charles slip his drink not thinking any of the fact as he listened to Cassie, they switched from french and english at ease almost. It wasn't peculiar to them just something that they did when they hung out or chatted, almost like how little words could be said between him and Werner when they hung out or how Drew and him could go on and on about different sports and racing and brooms.

"It would be ironic, imagine the faces of the Hogwarts students when they see a Dumstrang and Beauxbatons beat them," Charles replied but generally doubted that would happen since a Hogwarts student would probably win seeing it is Hogwarts and a few trials seemed almost created for them. Like the Hades one and the question on the creature thing, Charles was so confused with it and yet he had a strange feeling that the Hogwarts students were getting it correct.

"Scarlett might be better at the magic stuff then you but your a spectacular broom racer! One of the best, I'm sure," Charles replied to his friend telling her only the good parts since Cassie was pretty fabulous on a broom and he believed would have won the race a few months ago but unfortunately something occurred and they couldn't finish it. However Charles believed that Cassie would have won and in his mind, the french girl did.

"Well I'm not great at magic either so we can be mediocre at magic together Cass," Charles replied since he knew too well that he wasn't that great at magic either. His talents laid in brooms and physical actives rather than spell casting, books, and classes. Not that the blonde cared about excelling in classes or magic, not when he had brooms and quidditch and racing instead.

Charles nodded with a half smile when he heard Cassie's words about the Hermes Trial, the foot race but one of the better ones that relied on physical strength instead of mental. Charles heard Cassie describe her scene from the Orpheus Trial and expected it to he hard to turn away from, especially since if he got the quidditch world cup and his family praising him with his friends support then he would probably turn around instantly even if it was just a illusion.

"I'm going to try to but myself a broom by my birthday as well, it we both get one then perhaps we can go riding together," Charles replied knowing his birthday was in November and he would most likely need to take some money and buy it himself since his father wouldn't spend any galleons on another broom for him. Especially not after he destroyed the last rather shabby broom he had but flying wiry Cassie look pretty appealing to the blonde and he was determined to get himself on. Charles thought about muggle bikes and figured they were the closet to brooms from what he heard about them as he replied, " muggle bikes would be the closest to brooms perhaps that will ease your fathers thoughts about getting you one."

Charles offered his friend a half smile after he just told her that he was gay and had a crush on his friend from Ilvermorny. The blonde wasn't surprised when she didn't overreact or anything but instead gave a half grin to her words as he replied" who said I won't? I still will flirt with Cassanora to bother you but it won't mean anything," Charles gave his friend a half grin when he remembered the last visit when he flirted with her then she kneed him then he insulted her and almost got detention from the professor who he thought as weird.

"But besides from messing with others, I don't think I'm going to flirt with anyone anymore Cass," Charles told his friend not really caring about flirting with others anymore. He mainly now to carry about having fun with his friends, quidditch, brooms, and messing with other Dumstrangs.

Charles heard his friend's words and was glad that he had someone like Cassie to confide in and talk to these things about as he replied" when were alone you have full permission to tease me about it and I'm not asking you to lie. Just don't bring it up or ignore it like you said Cass," Charles gave a smile to his friend and was glad that he met her years ago and that they were still friends. He wasn't sure what he would have done or would be doing without her, but let's pause the touching and sweet stuff for later since now Charles was pulled out to dance with Cassie...

The Present ~ Amortentia in effect

Charles rubbed his head, feeling dizzy and his vision was blurry. He couldn't think straight and wasn't himself, as his mind felt cur off from his body forcing him it think about Kazou Shimada only.

There was Cassie's words again but they sounded far and he was unable to concentrate on them because of the potion even if he wanted to.

The potion was locking away all others thoughts or feelings, forcing only into his mind. Which was Kazou Shimada.

He wanted smiling or talking. He wasn't acting like his normal self or even how he would when he flirted with someone. He was different, his eyes stared at the raven hair boy and his mouth remained close.

"I won't flirt and I don't want him as my date," Charles spoke but his works sounded deeper and not focused. Almost like he wasn't the one talking, like he was forced to say this. Like someone or something was creating sentences for him to say while his vision was blurred to everything but Kazou. His hearing blocked everything but his voice out, including his own and his head throbbed from the potion concealing the rest of his mind away and forcing the image of obsessive of Kazou in its place at least for as long as the effects were in place.

"Why would I want to date something as impressive and amazing as that. He is a star and I'm nothing, I just want to say hello," Charles would walk toward Kazou in almost a trance and if Cassie allowed then he would pull her over with him.

Stopping in front of Kazou, Charles would bow a bit as the rest of his vision was blurred out and his hearing blocked of all else besides the raven haired boy's voice. His mind throbbed from locking away all others thoughts except for the obsessive of Kazou Shimada because of the potion.

"You look lavishing, my lord," Charles spoke and would bow to him again before looking back at Kazou. His eyes were almost lazily forced to focused and he appeared to be in a trance almost as he spoke" a thing of beauty that nature created herself to live among the humans. You are above us, my lord. You are superior."

Charles didn't notice the girl that was with Kazou and only was allowed to see the boy because of the potion which made Charles randomly try to grab Kazou and try to pull him close as he spoke" you shouldn't be associating with these mortals my lord, come with me and I'll take you some place where you belong and where it is as spectator and gorgeous as you."

Dee was talking, lecturing even. Kazuo heard it, agreed with it obviously, and appreciated it but was entirely too busy failing to fend off the crazy girl to voice any sort of support. Dee’s logic seemed to do nothing to reach Lavinia, the girl was deep in the potion’s insanity and he was getting a far too up-close-and-personal experience of just what kind of effect it could have. If this was what a diluted version could do, hidden in punch, he could truly understand how dangerous the potion was. As her lips brushed his cheek he couldn’t help but to shudder and recoil, pulling away as a scowl turned his expression from playfully tolerant to hostile. There was little he couldn’t put up with but unsolicited touching was very much one of those things.

Even as Lavinia was assaulting him with false affection, it seemed Erin was assaulting something else. The shatter of glass caused his head to whip around in surprise as she barrelled Gray straight into a table. What on earth… He thought as spells began to fly, almost too fast to follow. He watched as Erin climbed on top of Gray, shouting disjointed sentences that could only make sense to a madwoman. What a piteous creature Erin Ryan had become. Mores the pity that no one had cared to try to stop this trainwreck from reaching its inevitable conclusion. All thoughts of kissy-face Ravenclaw were gone, a minor nuisance compared to the brawl that was threatening to ruin his Ball - and worst of all, Jack and Ruka had gotten involved.

He took a few steps toward the chaos as Quinn attempted to haul Erin off Gray yet a few steps was all he would be able to manage before Lavinia was talking to him again. He turned to face her, venom on his tongue yet he held back the words as she began to apologize for her obsession-driven behaviour. Such a complete change once the potion’s effects had worn off. How fascinating. She was terribly embarrassed by the whole affair and it drew a smile to Kazuo’s lips. “You know, everyone kept telling me strange things happened at these Balls.” He offered the words to Lavinia in an understanding tone. “I should apologize to you for allowing such a trick to be played upon you at my Ball. Please, forgive me for not being attentive enough.” He gave her a slight bow of his head absolving her of her crazy behaviour with a smile.

He attempted to turn back to the Erin Ryan Mess yet would instead find himself addressed by a boy he didn’t know - one of the visitors, as he recalled. His eyes narrowed immediately when the boy addressed him as ‘lord’. The nonsense that came from the boy’s lips drew an eyeroll from him and Charle’s attempt to grab his arm met with a swift motion of his own. He would take several steps back and rest his hand on his wand. “If you’ve an ounce of sense left in you, you will not try to touch me again.” His tone was icy cold when he spoke, as clear a warning as anything. While he was willing to accommodate these ridiculous declarations of love and obsession, touch was going too far.

Pathetic. The Ravenclaw scowled as his curse missed its mark, no thanks to the intervention of her contemporaries. The girl was obviously out of her mind. Undoubtedly dangerous, she had just tackled some boy he was unfamiliar with calling him a deathwitch. Not that it mattered, he was apparently a greater threat than the crazed girl as Ruka attempted to disarm his wand. He could feel it fumble in his hand and a lad, possibly a brother of the first ran to the cracked Slytherin's side and cast Finite Incantatem to undo the good he had nearly done.

"Are you daft?"

"No, are you?"

A rhetorical question, of course the boy was out of his ever-loving mind. "You see the girl straddling the poor..." what was he a second year? "boy! How am I a remote priority here!" He was vexed, not that he was familiar with the meddlesome boy in front of him but there was an obvious bias if not against him, then in favor of the girl.

"Aiming a spell into a group of people like there's not enough chaos already? Think her spitting slugs on his face is really gonna make anything any better?"

"YES!" He replied empathetically, his brows raised and forehead creased. "Yes, let her beat the boy senseless... much better option," the sarcasm dripped from his words. He had no intention of leaving the boy to his fate. The youth spoke in a language he was unfamiliar with, he made no effort to glean meaning, they lacked the time for that. Besides, it was just the two of them until his doppelganger ran to the girl's side to what assist in a mugging?

"For Merlin sake," he muttered as he pointed his wand again in the girl's direction. He was not going to passively wait several minutes for her to calm down or Percival dies. "Spell coming through then," yes that was an example of irritated snark. Either move out of the way or get taken down.

"Flippendo," he announced with a tone of casual disregard. The big guy was coming for her, good. If it hits, he would launch the girl in the part-giant's direction. Maybe the part giant crushing the girl's bones would be more sensitive to their sensibilities.

Pride's girlish scream would have been extremely hilarious if she hadn't currently been fuming. "Shut up for once! I'm talking, 'Sweetheart'!" She snapped at the Slytherin, using that 'pet name' against him. Her eyes, which had been trying to stay glued to his face, narrowed into a glare. "You don't know me, so you don't have the right to judge my life." She casually glanced over to Jack as she continued, "Or my friendsh-..." Wait a minute, Jack was next to them? She looked over at the handsome satyr, and then back at Pride, and then her eyes finally peering down to see that the two of them were wrestling over his wand.

Whether Pride managed to wring it from his hands didn't matter. If he managed and passed it to her, she would simply pass it back. All Winnie knew was that Mathias Pride was trying to take something from Jack. Winnie had been so caught up in her anger that she had hardly bothered to notice the chaos around her, until a spell was fired. After witnessing the spell getting fired and seeing the two of them struggling, and to her... Well, it seemed like the younger boy was trying to hurt or disadvantage Jack in some way.

And that just didn't sit right with Winnie.

She glanced over at Jack's handsome face, and offered with a small smile, "I guess the clock is striking midnight. I'm sorry I couldn't be a graceful flower nymph for you." It was time to turn back into a pumpkin. Or rather, a girl who had grown up on a farm. She took a few steps back, before rushing forward and jumping at Pride. If she succeeded, she would push his body onto the floor in an attempt immobilize him temporarily."You think it's funny to take someone's wand during a fight? You stupid jerkface snake!"

For a second it seemed like Ruka's spell had hit but, while successful, it had not been nearly strong enough to actually disarm Vladimir, who showed no remorse for trying to make a student who was already out of her mind hurl up slugs.

"There's a crowd around her," he told Vlad, gesturing his wand hand in Erin's direction wildly. A crowd containing his brother. "You could be hitting any of them. If you just wanted to help there are better ways than that!" Immobilise her maybe, actually go over there instead of causing more chaos from a distance. "For all you know retching slugs could've just made her flail and hurt him even more!" At least that spell didn't hit as far as he could tell, which did make Jack's involvement practically useless. Idiot Jack. He could see where all his meddling got him because Ruka surely wasn't going to come to his aid anymore.

Except, Vladimir was pointing his wand again, aiming into the wrestling group of people. His spell could once again be hitting an unintended target, but most importantly, Jack had thrown himself in the middle of the firing zone for Erin before, so who was to say he wouldn't do it again?

"You've got to be kidding me," Ruka decided with a shake of his head as he watched Vlad's wand finding its target again. "If you wanted her off him so badly, why not go over there and drag her off yourself!?" Probably because she was a behemoth, even in her current state. Even more so, maybe. Still. "Thought you Ravenclaws were supposed to have better problem solving skills than that!"

Not that his arguing had any effect on Vladimir who had clearly made up his mind about his next move. There really was only one plausible thing to do and it wasn't to just let it happen. If he wasn't going to do it then Jack might and he wasn't about to take that risk. "Through me, then," he decided wearily, with only a moment's hesitation. With that, he stepped in front of Vladimir's wand in an attempt to block the spell with his own body.
