"Acting is fun, a lovely little escape from reality."

The Raven gazed up at the sky, looking like he was ready to doze off like his feline counterpart. A yawn escaped him, unbidden. Tears of exhaustion pricked his eyes as he twirled the grass beside him, much like Percival was. It would almost seem surprising, how easily the two were relaxing in each other's presence, one might think they had been long-time friends, not just acquaintances that met once or twice in the span of two years.
His skilled he learned during summer about infiltration really paid off. He seemed to be able to slip seamlessly into groups, acting friendlier by far from last year. Honestly, Selim was still convinced his first-year at Hogwarts was actually a fever dream. How else could he explain the sheer chaos of his time there? Human experimentation? Shadow spiders of death? Caught in a fire during the ball? Hags? Murdering another student?
It sounded like the ramblings of a madman.
(He was probably in denial though. For good reason.)
Selim's pale face was speckled lightly as sunlight streamed through the tree's leaves, dappling his visage and making it look all the more peaceful, if a Mr. Tone wasn't there blabbering on like a child, that is.
Selim could taste the false cheer coming from the boy and idly decided that his dormmate should take more classes in acting. Though, he probably thought he didn't need to, seeing as how Rainwood was buying everything Tone was saying as if it were coming straight from Merlin's Journal.
Sadly he wasn't just interacting with Percival now, and Selim was getting secondhand embarrassment from the whole thing.
Occasionally, as the boy blabbered on, Selim shot him a raised brow look of mild apathy, looking unimpressed. Once in a while, he yawned, idly scratching at his neck as if it itched (it didn't, just a new tic of his he got over summer).
Then he began to laxly clean out his ear with his pinky, staring blandly up at the canopy, acting like he was thinking about what to eat for supper, or something just as mundane.
At some point, the boy stopped, finger pointed at the raven who was lazing about on the crispy grass after some sort of noise that resembled a dying dog. There was a few moments of silence from Selim before he looked up at Hanako as if shaken from a daze, and spoke merely a few words in response to the child's rant. He was playing up his facade of lazy indifference to the max, but it still looked genuine, especially with the bedraggled appearance and dark bags under his eyes.
He thought his next words were truly the cherry on top though. Spoken in a lazy drawl.
"I'm sorry, did you say something?"

Apologies meant nothing in this time and space. And Hanako had no hesitance showing how displeased Percival’s apology left him. Did he really think he was upset at not being invited? Because that's true! But what of the lies that were poorly executed. What of the hurt and betrayal?! Had their relationship developed so much that Rainwood would rather give him a short glance when apologizing than getting on his knees and promising a basket of fresh flowers?! On second thought, had they gotten to the point where Hana was this sensitive to his apologies? He did not like where his train of thought was going.
“ Why do you get to be the villain?”
“ That-” he clicked his fingers ‘- is a very good question, my dear Rainwood. One I have a concrete answer on. The simple answer is that according to statistics- my personal one that I did not just make on the spot- villains in dramas tend to be the far more superior ones when it comes to good looks and charm. And who is better than yours truly~?” he posed as if he were getting ready for a casual photo shoot. A small glare at the corner of his eye, directed to Faust. “ Besides. The villain is always a better match for the lead. They had much more chemistry- more .. history.” Hanako saw how uninterested Faust looked. Surely, he still had a pair of working ears. Hanako didn’t need his full attention.“ Alas, they never end up together….at least from what I’ve seen. From what I gather, it’s the pest that seems to gather around the lead. Shame, don’t you think Faust? I do wonder that if the pests were never involved..would nothing have stopped them from being together in the end?”
Hanako unconsciously leaned in, eager to see how the other boy would answer. All he hoped for was to use that brain of his to decipher his words. He didn’t need to worry about Percival catching on. As exhausted as he looked he was still the main focus in Hana’s eyes. Fausts mouth moved to talk, Hana’s eyes fixed on the slow gesture as they spoke up and said;
"I'm sorry, did you say something?"
“ WHY YOU LITTLE SSSSS-” just as his curled up fingers were ready to choke the kid, he inhaled deep and retracted his make-believe claws. As hesitant as he was to do so. For once, Percival wasn’t far from the scene and there was absolutely no way Hanako could get away with his inner desires without the repercussions. He was certain Percival favored him more than Faust but even he couldn’t ignore someone in danger. Inner desires needed to say i n s i d e. That- and he was this close to cursing out in parselmouth. Curses were unbefitting of his classy image. He had made a habit of cursing out in only parselmouth. If he wanted to keep it that way, he’d have to shut up. His face that screamed revenge just before had now shown his regular ingenuine smile. Unfortunately, that was not enough to hide the remnants of his seething anger.
“ sssssillllllyyyyy thinnngggg~” he squeaked out, clasping his hands so tightly together. As if continuing his forced smile was more painful than leaving his palm red from the pressure. “ Just curious how you two met~. I mean we’re all friends now, aren’t we? We all know how you and I bonded here on this lovely day~. But I don’t think I ever got the story behind how you two became friends~?” He relaxed his whole exterior, relishing at the moment that could have been a great day for him but never happened because Hanako was now a very nice kid that would never attack anyone for a petty reason. As the nice kid he is, he showed Selim another one of his sweet smiles. “ Oh~ allow me to repeat it if you didn’t get it the first time~, hm~?”

Percival raised a brow as he listened to Hanako's reasoning behind the matter at hand. It seemed all too far-fetched to think of one's self as a role in some bad drama. Especially when one was certain they were something like the villain of their own story. Things hardly felt that dramatic between the three of them. Though, he could see the positives in imagining such a thing. For starters, it made things all the more interesting. Rather than the boring methodical walk of everyday life, you instead have backstabbing and betrayal. One could feel powerful rather than feeling like they held no power. It provided amusement even if the amusement was short-lived. At the very least he got to be the lead in their little story. Albeit, it wasn't like it was truly real life.
The boy felt a smile cross his facial features as he watched his friend dramatically pose as if he had something to prove in their small trio. "Pests?" he asked his face did little to hide his confusion. The boy glanced towards Selim with a questioning look before turning back to Hanako. "Well, I guess we'll have to see and find out if it is ever possible. I think it would be quite sad if we simply followed the script. Having designated roles seems boring." he hummed out as he picked lightly at the grass between his fingertips. Leaving out how maybe some days he wished he could be the bad guy. The one in control and with everything planned out
Percival pulled a rather long piece of grass up into his fingertips. Methodically cutting a little piece off with his nails as he waited for Selim to respond to Hanako's questioning. The other had been quiet for a good while now, and he wondered if it was because he didn't care or was at a loss for words. His eyes widened slightly at Selim's dismissive words. "Were you that preoccupied in your own mind?" he asked the boy with a raised brow. Unsure whether the other was being truthful about missing their entire conversation. Hanako wasn't exactly the easiest person to tune out.
