Yeah- I nearly cried when poor Werner died, though... He didn't deserve it. The book greatly portrays how unfair the world is. Same- I'm trying to alter my writing style like his. As an aspiring writer myself it greatly intrigues me how the characters' two stories are so intricately spun around each other for most of the book, living seemingly separate and totally different lives for the most of the war, only to be brought together right at the end, united not by race or background, but by who they are as people. Ok, I promise I'll stop fantasising about random literature now. I need to read it again, I haven't read it in ages... oh, and the descriptions are so elaborate, god I wish I could write like that
