Brawl In the Hall
─────────❖─────────@Anastasia Beckett @Scarlett Aden @Rafael D'Spacito @Allie Lewis @Lindsey Springhall @Henry Knight @Heather Blair Moretti @Autumn IvyIvy's first day back in class had been rather uneventful. She had been surprised, actually, by how ordinary life felt; this was Hogwarts, after all, where everyone and everything was insane. No one person had accidentally called her Ana so far, which had put her into high spirits... although she suspected that it actually was because the real Ana was far too scary to approach this year - not that it had stopped Ivy from trying, of course. The last time they had spoken was the first night, at the Gryffindor table after the Sorting. Ivy got the impression that Ana was trying to avoid her, although she didn't have any proof. It wasn't like they had talked to each other every single day when they were on good terms anyway.
She kicked at the ground with the scuffed toe of her black school shoes, hugging her schoolbooks to her chest as she walked back to the Gryffindor common room slowly. It was a habit she had picked up all of a sudden, something she had started to do when feeling gloomy or upset - it gave her something to focus on and do other than mope. However, Ivy would soon realise that she didn't need to rely on ruining her shoes to pass the time, because as she turned the corner, the sound of a familiar voice screaming "who the fuck-" and blows landing on skin reached her ears. Her first reaction was a wrinkle of her nose and the squinting of her eyes as she tried to work out what was happening.
The Gryffindor's grey eyes quickly landed on Ana, who was at the centre of this chaos. She was apparently attacking a redhead rather angrily - wait, Scarlett?! - and there was a crowd gathering around the fight. Ivy stood stock-still for a moment, eyes wide with shock and mouth in the shape of an O. Her books had tumbled out of her arms and onto the ground, but no one had noticed - not even Ivy herself. She was more concerned with the murderous look on her doppelganger's face and the whispered rumours quickly travelling through the crowd.
What was she supposed to do? It would be pointless to try and break them up - Ivy didn't want to get punched too. Still, it felt wrong to walk away, seeing as it was her half-sister involved. She bit her lip and approached the group cautiously, overhearing some of the conversations as she wove in and out of the crowd to get a better view up the front.
"That's Anastasia Beckett, did you hear the rumours about her this year?"
“No, not really. Care to fill me in?"
"They say she murdered her parents, that she did horrible, horrible things. Really, the rumours are not pulling their punches when talking about Anastasia Beckett. It's sort of sad, I suppose. I do not believe the rumours personally, and I recommend that you do not either. The rumours are nice when it's fun and games, but it often does not last that way for long."
Merlin... the rumours about the Becketts were really out of control, weren't they? Ivy had promised herself that she wouldn't get involved, that she would only watch and observe... but now, she couldn't help herself. Her natural instinct was to protect her friends, and no matter how badly Ana was treating her at the moment, she still felt the need to defend her. "The rumours aren't true," she said confidently. Ivy didn't know for certain, as Ana hadn't told her anything that would dispel the rumours, but she trusted her enough to make that assumption. Ana was reckless and overconfident, and could be very, very mean sometimes - but she wasn't evil. She had a good heart, far from the kind of person who would murder her parents out of cold blood. "She didn't kill her parents. I'm not really sure who started that rumour, but it's completely untrue."─────────❖─────────

The little snake had the audacity to appear surprised and offended that Ana punched her in the face. The blood that erupted from her nose made some sick twisted part of Anastasia thrilled, and encouraged the more angry part of her. Who went around spreading rumors like that? There was a massive difference between telling tales of a student's romantic involvement and stating that a person was capable of murder. Ana was so preoccupied with being offended that the redhead had the gall to act like she was the victim that she didn't even see the kick coming.
Her wind was completely knocked out of her when the kick landed. She staggered backward, gasping for air. Her mouth opened and closed as she tried to breathe. What kind of person not only spread rumors that vile, that despicable but then struck the person they were spreading those rumors about? Ana was so livid she could hardly see straight. Her heart was racing and it occurred to her that she had had exactly no plan as to what she was going to do after she hit the other girl.
A vague awareness of the growing crowd dawned on her, and she swallowed hard, still struggling to breathe. Faces flashed before her in the seconds as she looked around. Some people were pushing to the front of the crowd to try and get a better view, others appeared to be trying to get closer to stop the fight. She shook a hand off her arm, blood racing. Another girl(Lindsey) grabbed her arm and was shouting words that made no sense, maybe trying to calm Ana down. She caught a glimpse of Ivy in the crowd and quickly looked away. Ivy was just one more reminder of how she had failed. Not just that, but how her entire life was based on lies.
One face made her pause. Rafa. Her eyes met his and for a moment, everything seemed to stand still. The way he was looking at her was so much worse than the kick to the gut. She couldn't tell what he was thinking, but his expression gave her some idea. It wasn't the same look from moments ago, the look that was full of concern for her. This was wrong. The two of them were a unit. She knew him better than she knew her family. She trusted him completely, and half the time, they knew what the other was going to say before they said it. She couldn't tell what he was thinking and it made her sick. So sick she didn't even see the punch coming.
As her head snapped backward, she snapped back to reality, trying to suppress the hurt that was rising. She shook off whoever was trying to restrain her and launched herself at the redhead again, every ounce of her being directed at the girl's midsection. For a 13-year-old British girl, she had a rather excellent American tackle. The two toppled to the ground and Ana was on top of the blood-covered redhead.
"Talk about me again, I fucking dare you," Ana growled. If she had seen herself at that exact moment, she would have been terrified. She was covered in blood, her own and her victims, and the look in her eyes resembled a feral lion. Her mother's terrified face flashed before her, melting into Eyre's face full of hurt at the train station before turning into her father's rage twisted face as the Aurors arrested him, before finally settling upon that indescribable expression Rafa had had just now. Ana was shaking with rage, and at that moment, she was equally terrified and exhilarated.
Once again, everything seemed to slow around her. If she was so easily capable of doing this to a random person, what did that say about what her father could do? Her insistent denial that he had been capable of doing something as horrible as everyone believed he did was crumbling around her and she couldn't breathe.

The fucking maniac.
There was really no time to think anymore as Anastasia had punched her nose, a brilliant gush of blood spurting from it like it did in Muggle horror movies. Only this time, it wasn't a movie. The punch had probably broken her nose as well - she could feel the pain and couldn't breathe so well. Merlin - the pain. Every tingling nerve seemed to originate from her face as her body tried to dull the pain, as she tried to focus on her target instead of her injuries. What was she going to do to Anastasia? No time to plan - just to fight.
Acting on impulse, Scarlett decided to try and knock the breath out of her opponent, the same way Beckett had done to her. She had kicked the girl like a childish toddler in a petty squabble, punching her in the eye for extra measure. She felt like a vile person. Here she was, spreading rumours, most probably lies, about an already broken girl, and trying to beat her up as much as she could. But Scarlett shut her morals out from her brain as she decided to focus on the task ahead: fighting and winning.
A crowd was gathering. Scarlett was unsurprised by the amount of attention they drew. Students of Hogwarts were often starved of real, bloody Muggle fistfights, and here were two insane Gryffindors, covered with blood, attacking each other like famished lions fighting over the last piece of meat. She didn't recognise many faces in their little audience but a few were noticed in her mind, their faces flashing by like mugshots. The Quidditch Captain guy - who Beckett looked like she was melodramatically infatuated by, locking eyes with him in a soulful glance. Ivy - a classmate of hers. Scarlett remembered when she had first encountered Anastasia's horribleness a few days ago, at the feast, where Ivy had been present as well. She didn't realise how horrible Beckett really was.
There were others as well, other faces who brought with them plenty of teenage angst and regret and conflict and other puzzling emotions. There was Lindsey. A friend of hers. A good friend. A kind friend. One that had recently discovered ways their families were connected, one that had formed a social club of sorts, one that had been amiable and friendly and perfect. One that she could never live up to. Hey - if Beckett was going to go through a split-second period of remorse, she would as well. Because, indeed, all this thinking, this flowery description, would've happened in a second or less.
Scarlett saw someone else as well. Henry. She didn't know how one person could bring such a wave of embarrassment over her, but it happened. Scarlett looked at the boy. Thought about how he had disappeared. Thought about how she was the one to have ironically severed contact. She looked away. Bitter voices echoed in her mind as she found herself turning back to the fight, the dangerous glint in her eyes mirroring Anastasia's own.
Scarlett had no time to make another move though - Beckett had already pounced on her like a vicious lioness and tackling her to the ground, knocking the breath out of Scarlett as her hand banged on the floor. God. She felt dizzy. It - it hurt. Scarlett suddenly felt incredibly tired, as if she just wanted to stop the dumb fighting and move away. But then Beckett said this-
"Talk about me again, I fucking dare you."
The statement sent a fresh wave of adrenaline coursing through her as she miraculously discovered that she felt physically tougher than usual, like people did when they were in danger. Scarlett managed to wrestle the feral Gryffindor off her with a snarl, blood flying everywhere. She grabbed Beckett by the wrists and clenched then tightly, her nails digging into Beckett's fair skin as she hissed rather loudly, "Oh I will, you little fucking monster. I thought you were bad at first, but now I know - I know that you're worse. A sick, twisted, oh-so-broken fucking drama queen. Bitch please. I'm not buying that. I bet you could-"
Her nails dug deeper. She hoped they left great, ugly marks. Scarlett leaned in and whispered into Anastasia's ear, so that no one could overhear.
"-kill your own parents."
With another forceful push, Scarlett shoved Anastasia back before stalking towards her and standing on tip-toe, proceeding to punch Beckett in the eye, feeling pleased that it started to swell red. Scarlett felt wicked herself. She wondered who the real villain was here.────── ☆ ───────

MAJOR PROFANITY WARNING
It wasn’t happening. It was only a dream, a horrible, fucking god-awful bad dream.
Rafael desperately tried to convince himself of this small falsity, silently repeating these sentences in his mind until they held no real meaning, until the syllables were empty, until the linguistics sounded alien and strange on his tongue. He silently repeated them until, in the heat of his own self-deprecating and destructive thoughts, he couldn’t stop the forceful chuckle that left his lips, his mentality on the brink of snapping as he allowed himself to admire the irony of the situation he now found himself in. It wasn’t really a dream, was it? Dreams were lighthearted and made you smile. Dreams were what you wished for, what you aspired to be. This couldn’t be a dream. No, Rafael couldn’t help but grin maliciously in spite of his own hysterics, this was a fucking nightmare. A lie, because they’re lying, she’s lying, they’re all lying to me. That’s how nightmares worked, right? Life didn’t work this way, people didn’t avoid their best friends for weeks on end, girls didn’t fucking talk about people murdering other people in fucking middle school. It didn’t fucking happen, ever, so this was the only logical explanation, right? He was living a horror film, and his senses were the fucking titular characters, flashing visions of hot-white horror right behind his eyelids and a cacophonous of disharmony to his weary ears as they shamelessly stole away his breath, his comfort, his stability. And in the midst of his nightmare, the screaming, murmurs of other students, loud contact of offensive action, the child felt bare, stripped of all his defenses as he watched with a shaking figure and horrified eyes as Ana threw her fist into the nose of another girl, not even a glimpse of remorse upon her anger-stricken face as she advanced shamelessly forward. It terrified him, that the girl that was fighting wasn’t the girl he knew. She was a stranger. A complete and total fucking stranger.
It was this startling revelation, that spurred a new, dangerous train of thought.
It came as a whisper, a mere breath uttered by the darkest recesses of his mind. Perhaps they’re right about her, then. The cold gust of air blew gently through the deserted and shattered corridors of his mind, spiraling in curvy wisps, dancing along the cracked and dilapidated walls. His mentality was fragile as it was – a breeze would be enough to set the dominoes into motion, the house of cards that was already on the brink of collapse now slowly but irreversibly tumbling out of control. He couldn’t stop the whispers anymore, he couldn't stop the harsh winds from violently invading his thoughts, chipping shamelessly against the gray paint and rickety plaster, destroying the mind palace he’d worked so fucking hard to sustain through anger management therapy over the summer. Perhaps they’re right, perhaps Ana did do all those things – perhaps she did murder her parents in cold blood, perhaps she really has changed. But Rafael didn’t fucking care about that, now, did he? Because weren’t they supposed to be there for each other, when one did something horribly, irreversibly wrong? Wasn’t he supposed to be the one she talked to, she confided her soul in? He was supposed to be her best friend, and fuck, look at him now. Trembling like a fucking coward on the floor as he watched her rip into some poor, sad gossip who’d said the wrong things at the wrong time. What was he to her, anyways? A rook in her deranged game of chess? A pretty object of amusement she could take out and admire when she grew bored, only to be thrown to the recesses of her closet and taken up a lifetime in the future, jaded and covered with dust? The very thought left him feeling off, different, the shaking in his hands no longer the cause of paralyzing fear, the look in his eye holding no confusion, no wariness to dismiss the avid requests of freedom the monster in his chest desperately pleaded for.
This wasn’t a dream. It was fucking real life and now Rafael had a migraine digging into his consciousness like a nail between his eyes. Ana was trying to mutilate an underclassman… no, she was trying to kill her, because apparently that was what Ana was now. A fucking murderer. And so, the child did what he always did when he reached the end of his rope, when he completely and utterly shattered beneath the pressure that was his social life. He let his impulses take the wheel.
He couldn’t even register what he was doing, his mind having long since switched to autopilot as his hands blindly groped for his pocket, towards the long-range weapon the school had so fucking foolishly let him maintain possession of. The stick of wood, in that very moment, radiated absolute, staggering and insurmountable power, giving the child every ounce of control he so, so desperately craved – but holding his wand would only do so much to dissipate his starve for grief and harm, for an alleviation of the stress, confusion, and anger that had been welling up within him for weeks. There would be no warning, no shout for attention, no expert flourish of the stick. In the end, it was all a bit disappointing, in the way that the moment the incantation left the lips of the young man, his wand moving flawlessly, stance perfect and voice bellowing and deathly steady, the satisfaction was over, and the power was gone, and all Rafael was left with was the success of his magic and the attention of the crowd about him. The Flippendo had, in fact, his Scarlett perfectly in the shoulder, immediately separating the two women from their death match and gaining him a mere moment of their attention. And in hindsight, Rafael should have been more careful. Maybe taken some time to mull over his words, calm himself down, salvage the situation that had already spiraled out of fucking control. But he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Not now, that the words were dancing on his lips, the power beckoning to return to his small frame in a couple of sentences that he knew would undoubtedly lead to him pouring out his whole fucking heart in front of half of the hallway's congregation. Even now, he couldn’t stop the tremble of his voice. “What the actual fuck do you think you're doing,” he muttered almost silently, the same whisper that had invaded his consciousness only moments prior. The whisper that came before the hurricane, the fucking angel of death. “FIGHTING. IN THE MOTHERFUCKING, GODFORSAKEN HALLWAY. ARE YOU ALL BATSHIT CRAZY?”
He turned to the younger first, his demeanor absolutely horrifying in the way it exuded his livid emotions, his handsome face contorted in a deep sneer and his sharp gaze cutting into the unfamiliar young woman with a fervor not unlike a knife. His wand tip, he would learn, had unconsciously made its way only a mere foot from his classmate’s face, close enough to cause real damage, close enough for the other to grab. Not that she would succeed, should she try to wrench it from his fingertips – his grip was far too tight, his stance far too strong. The gesture was a clear sign that he was eager for any sort of confrontation, any chance to whip about the knobby walnut wood and jinx her bloodied visage into next week. It would be not a moment before his emotions would once again begin to leak from his lips in fiery bouts, his tone jagged, growly, dangerous. Far from the voice he used on the pitch when ordering around his teammates, or that in which he used to intimidate those belonging to Jack Burnett’s snake gang. This was something else entirely. “Who – “ the boy started hoarsely, trying his very hardest to control the blood from rushing to his face, alas to no avail. “Who spreads rumors like that? Do you think she would be at this goddamn school if she had killed her fucking parents? Do you actually fucking hear yourself?” A short laugh escaped his lips then, the noise humorless. “Are – how old even are you?” Growing angrier, “So, you’re just one of those sad fucks, then? Seeking attention using other people because you aren’t special enough to get it on your own? It’s fucking pathetic.” He had more to say, he really did, but at the rate he was going, he feared he might break his own code and use his fists to get his point across. Instead, he chose to point his wand in the direction of the hospital wing, headache throbbing behind his eyelids. “You should really go clean yourself the fuck up. Maybe if you scrub hard enough, you’ll be able to clean the absolute filth you’ve just put on your reputation.” Alas, under the blood and broken nose, the girl held no resemblance to anyone he’d met before in his immediate memory. Little did he know, the same girl would be joining the house team later in the month. Right now, it really didn’t fucking matter.
And maybe that should have been the end of it, perhaps he should have stopped while he was ahead. But no, God forbid he stop himself now, when the heart of all his anxiety was standing before him, dripping with blood and hate and whatever else made up her sorry excuse of a person. Her very visage sent the stabbing pain between the eyes of the young man soaring to new heights, and he turned, bristling in livid anger as he faced the young woman who had made his existence miserable for the last few weeks. His wand, once facing the redhead, was now inches away from his annoyance’s face. So this is what it came to. There was a time where he would have jumped off a building for her, but she had no such power over him now. “And you,” he growled, with every ounce of enmity he had once directed towards the redhead. “Who the fuck do you think you are? You – “ a loud, incoherent sound left his throat, his face growing redder. “You think bashing in some underclassman’s face is going to change anything? LOOK AT YOURSELF!” He gestured around about then, to the spectators that had made a circle around the group. Spectators with furrowed eyebrows and wary faces. “I’ve been able to put up with this for a shit-long time, but this is fucking it. Are you happy? Are you fucking happy with yourself right now?” He was disgusted, confused, and above all, very fucking angry. And he wanted to make sure she knew that – using his wand to gesture at the redheaded girl, his eyes drilled into her own, never wavering for a moment. “You lay a hand on her, and you’ll get a lot worse than a knockback jinx, I swear to God, Ana. You should really act your fucking age and go clean yourself up.”
There was so, so much more he needed to say, but he'd already done enough here. Angrily stuffing his wand into his pocket, he turned, ignoring the strange looks he was getting from those around him as he forcefully shoved through the circle and threw his hood up. God, he felt as if he were on the brink of fucking collapse, his anger slowly trickling away and leaving him shaky and dizzy… he definitely wouldn’t be making it to his next class, he decided. Because he would kill himself if someone caught his hands shaking, his halted breath, the tears beginning to prick his eyes… oh God, he was going to be sick…

Tagging @Henry Knight @Heather Blair Moretti @Autumn IvyIf “frustrated” could describe someone, then it must be Lindsey. She felt exactly like that right now. How — she was shoved aside by Anastasia, or rather, she didn’t even touch the grumpy lion’s arm. That was insane. Insane. She felt so.
Then the two were separated all in a sudden. With astonishment Lindsey glanced around. No. It wasn’t the younger girl [Allie] or Opeila. Speaking of them, where had they been? Disappeared…? It took a while for her to realize that they might have been grabbed away by their classmates, or pushed away by the crowd. However, no matter how did the other two girls disappeared, one thing was certain — one thing.
She was now the only one who tried to get Anastasia Beckett back from Scarlett.
How terrible, wasn’t it? In Lindsey’s twelve years of living, she hadn’t experienced such things. Maybe her life was just too easy. She had been trying to do the right thing all the time, and ultimately she succeeded. Dragging Anastasia back seemed a right thing to do as well, though, she failed. Rolling her eyes a bit and smiled coldly at the bystanders around, again she stretched her arm out.
“Anas — Anastasia? Pray, do listen.” After thinking over a bit, Lindsey started. Although Ana and Scarlett were separated magically now, she perceived that they’d get back to fighting soon. And fighting could solve nothing. The only result would be two wounded and wished to fight with each other again. “Cool down a bit, please! We’ve got to talk. That’s what really makes a difference. Fighting has no use.” while speaking, her hand reached out for Anastasia’s arm.ReducioLindsey tries to grab Ana’s arm
which arm? [1] right arm [2] left arm: [d2 : 1] --> right arm
Lindsey auto-fail (Ana’s terrible presence): [d10: 1] --> no auto-fail!
Lindsey’s acc (using old stats): [d20: 11] + 8=19
Ana’s eva: [d20: 10] + 10=20
19 < 20 --> Miss! No. This wasn’t possible. She was dreaming. The things that had just happened wasn’t real. How come Anastasia Beckett had dodged? Lindsey had always had a pride in her accuracy. But now, it seemed didn’t work anymore. Beckett was nice in dodger. How intriguing.
Seeing that she couldn’t even grab Anastasia’s arm, Lindsey started again. This time she was nearly yelling, in a rather high and impatient voice. “Please, please, please! Tell me, why do you attack her? Forgive me — but why?” She wasn’t lying. She wasn’t telling an excuse. She knew nothing about the background — about all the rumors going around in Hogwarts. What had happened recently? Maybe nothing. Maybe only the school year had started. Then nothing more. Maybe she had focused on her schoolwork so much, and that she had missed all the things. But still, why??
She shook her head. No. “Tell me about all these, about the reasons, Scarlett! Don’t get into fighting again — you, you’d both get caught and that will do no good!” she turned to Scarlett, and said in frustration. Why did she get herself into all this? Why—??
However Lindsey was someone as steady and firm as a rock. Once she had chosen the path, she would not turn around and go back. Titling her head up a bit, she glanced haughtily at the bystanders around. They were cowards. She was very sure that she definitely wouldn’t be one of them. So let it be — she’d steady her mind saving Scarlett and stoping this fight. “Cool. Down. Now. And. Stop. Acting. Childishly.” she roared. Hopefully they could stop…yet Lindsey knew that it was just a hope. Secretly she wished a professor or a prefect could pass by and stop them. Again, this fight was childish. And even stupid, maybe.ReducioPermission godmoding Ana successfully dodged given by Ana. And guys, sorry for how long this reply took! Happy new yearlove y’all

Henry was about to fill the blonde hair ravenclaw in when another student felt like interrupting their conversation and telling Heather about the rumours but also she was almost supporting Anastasia Beckett or giving a reason for why she just attacked Scarlett.
Henry was about to reply when another came in... big surprise they also supported Anastasia Beckett but Henry was looking at something else or the bigger picture that was how innocent can someone be if they attack another student.
"Sure the rumours aren't true but that doesn't make her saint. Unless you have some facts why it's okay for Beckett to attack other students," Henry felt himself snap at the who defended Anastasia as the boy moved his eyes back toward the fight.
Blood was seen covering both gryffindor's matching the scarlet red of their house. The scene resembled one from a muggle movie where the characters had a fistfight in the middle of a hall or street only this was real and not fictional like a muggle movie. The blood that gushed from both was real and there was a high chance that both would have injury.
His eyes flickered over Scarlett, unsure what he would replied to the two who defended Beckett. It wasn't like him and Scarlett were friends... it wasn't like they weren't... did it matter? She was being attack and the truth to the matter is that it wasn't right for others to believe Scarlett was the only one at fault here. Beckett did start the fight didn't she? Didn't she? Or perhaps was it Scarlett?
Henry would have rather not believed that the red haired started the fight but couldn't be sure since he didn't see which threw the first punch or kick but he did know that is wasn't just the fault of one them and that the other was a saint.
The captain of the gryffindor team seem to have broken up the fight before any professor or prefect could that was. Even if a few of his words could have been avoided, Henry wasn't bothered as he turned back toward the two who defended Beckett and spoke to them, " rumours are one thing that hardly anyone believes but facts are believable. Beckett attacked that girl, didn't she?" a pause before the boy continued" Beckett has a sob story like most but that doesn't give her the right to attack someone," Henry would look the two over before turning toward Heather and speaking" I'm going to head out, charms to do."
A lie but the second year wasn't exactly in the mood to socialize after watching a fight between a old friend and a girl who all he heard was rumours about.
Henry was there, he was saw what happen. Anastasia Beckett started the fight. That's a fact, something that can't be twisted or replaced. Then why was Henry having a strange feeling like that's not what happen. There was a part of him that might have thought what he Scarlett started the fight? What if Beckett was innocent? What if those girls were right in defending Beckett and he has the wrong facts? What if?

Also, if any of y'all (or anyone reading this) are wanting to thread after this, please reach out because I'd love to explore the fallout of this for Ana! Note - all of Ana's negative interactions in this post are IC and have been completely discussed and consented to OOC. I have nothing but love and respect for all y'all involved in this thread!

WARNING:Lots of cursing, blood, violence
Gasping for air, Ana tried somewhat to evaluate the situation. Still, she couldn't get a coherent thought together, much less any consistent observation of her surroundings. Everything happened in flashes like some strange shadow puppet show.
"What the fuck? What did I do to warrant you spewing utter sewage about me? You don't know anything about me but keep running your idiotic mouth and you'll fucking find out," Ana spat in one breath as the girl whispered in her ear. Still, the words stung, and Ana froze for a moment, allowing the girl to get another hit to her face.
"SHUT UP, YOU CAN'T EVEN POSSIBLY FATHOM WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT," Ana breathed, her anger fresh as she approached for another attack. Perhaps this fool couldn't fathom what she spoke of, but Ana's fist seemed simple enough. This was a new low, a small voice inside of her whispered. You've sunk to new fathoms of depravity, the voice hissed. For some reason, the play on words made a sick, twisted part of her laugh. Not that it showed on her livid exterior.
All thoughts about fathoms and fists fled from her mind as a spell shot into the mix, knocking Scarlett back and separating the two further. An involuntary, startled shriek escaped her lips and she whirled around to see who her new attacker was. Her stomach twisted. Rafa had given up on her, betrayed her as everyone else did. How foolish had she been to expect anything else? Again, that still, small voice whispered wisdom that Ana utterly disregarded.
"I could say the same to you," she snapped defensively. "I'm not the one casting spells like a lunatic." Ana's temper began to simmer down and she was beginning to consider that she was on the verge of saying things she would deeply regret. Actually, it rather seemed she was far past that point.
Her so-called best friend scolded the younger girl first and Ana's jaw tightened. Not only did he see fit to criticize her and stop her from exacting her revenge on whoever this girl in the hall was, but he didn't even deign to prioritize her as an object of attention. Logically, she knew that she was twisting things, that Rafa was far more in the right than she was, but she didn't care. She was furious, at the world, at the gossip in the hall, at her parents, and at herself. Still, Rafa was there and the floodgates had been opened. Even though she was beginning to cool down and try to restrain her stupid, explosive temper, it was far too little, far too late.
His wand in her face made her want to hit him as well and it used up the small fragments of self-control she had left not to retaliate, to just stand there glaring at him, eyes blazing. "Who the fuck do I think I am? I'm Anastasia fucking Beckett and I won't tolerate -" she snapped, hardly listening as he spoke, more focused on winning this argument if it could be called that. "Do I look like I'm happy, fuckwit?" No, no, no, stop, back up. She knew she should stop. That she should walk away. So why didn't she? Why did she keep talking? "Oh, please, I'd love to see that." Fuck, no, why did she sound like she was talking to someone she hated? This was Rafa. Her words were cold, indiscernible from the way she spoke to those she truly loathed. He turned and walked away. "Go then, you fucking coward. See if I care! I don't need anyone. I don't need you!"
Yes, she did.
All the wind had gone out of her sails. The fire had abandoned her as quickly as it had overtaken her, leaving her with ashes. She shot a glare at some girl who had been grabbing at her and trying to stop her (Lindsey). "Attempt to lay another hand upon me and you'll lose it," she hissed. Bending, she picked up the bag that she'd dropped before attacking the other girl.
"You're all dismissed, go gawk at something else, clowns!" Ana announced, shoving through the crowd and waving her hand slightly as if she was giving a servant leave to go. Maybe someone said something after that, but she could only hear her heart pounding. Her hands shook and every muscle in her body ached. There was a reason that she opted to fight her battles in the mental or magical arenas rather than physical. Her foe had looked just as battered as she did and certainly hadn't won the battle by any stretch of the imagination. So, why did Ana feel like she had lost the battle, the war, and everything that mattered to her?
Anastasia Beckett has exited the thread.

speech #bf0040────── ☆ ───────@Anastasia Beckett @Rafael D'Spacito @Lindsey Springhall @Henry Knight @Heather Blair Moretti @Autumn IvyScarlett was slowing down now. She wasn't a fighter, not in the physical way at least. Apparently, adrenaline was supposed to make you tougher, and make it easier to fight in stressful situations. Well, this was definitely a stressful situation but all of the energy from before hand had drained out. She was a short twelve year old with a bloody nose and a black eye, not some boxer on Muggle television. Her breathing became laboured and she could tell that (hopefully) Beckett was tiring out as well.
"I swear to fucking Merlin," snapped Scarlett, struggling for air. "I just figured that I would inform someone of the rumour I had heard - that's what rumours are. Listen to yourself, Miss 'you'll soon find out', you sound bitchy and dramatic." She paused. "Well, that is what you are," she added, as an afterthought.
Ana's yell rebounded across the corridor, and Scarlett braced herself for a quick dodge to her next attack - except, that didn't happen. A shout was heard and another attack came, this time magical, hitting her in the shoulder and pushing her back. Scarlett stumbled, trying to regain her balance and glaring furiously at the offender, some random guy who started blabbering about 'reputation' and 'filth'. "What a creative way to describe me," said Scarlett coldly. Her mind scrambled for something to say - this part she was always bad at. Knowing what to say and when to say it. "A 'sad fuck'." She didn't - couldn't - say anything else regarding his angry outburst. The boy then start lecturing Beckett and Scarlett couldn't resist an angry protest of, "UNDERCLASSMEN? I am very much female if you hadn't noticed-"
But by then, the boy had stormed off. Lindsey was next. It made her slightly sick to see a good friend berating her relentlessly, but she supposed it was the consequences of her actions. "It was pretty clear from the start-" said Scarlett, softening her tone ever so slightly softening to something an onlooker could deem 'normal'. "-that she attacked me."
Beckett had dismissed the crowd. Scarlett was too tired to even make a remark about her superior complex, limping to the Hospital Wing with the intent to clean up. Her nose hurt. Her eye hurt and things were looking quite fuzzy, literally and figuratively. She steeled herself and tried not to collapse before she arrived at her destination.
What a way to start the year.────── ☆ ───────
