The Early Bird Gets The Eggs
♤♧ Say not that we age, but that our beauty develops with time ♧♤@Opeila WintersMuch to Marshal’s fortune, Opeila seemed to recognize that he had no clue what an O was, and promptly hastened to explain all the different grades at Hogwarts. It was probably a good thing that he learned now instead of later. That could have been a very anxious experience.
In addition, there was now one more creature that he previously hadn’t known existed, and had gained a newfound desire to see. While it didn’t sound like trolls were the most pleasing to the eye, they certainly seemed mysterious and interesting. Of course, that described a fair amount of Marshal’s life nowadays, but magical creatures were some of the most fascinating things he had learned about.
“Come on, don’t you think it would be kind of cool to see one in person?” he said, slightly mischievously. “I bet you could take on a troll easy, and I’d bring popcorn and just enjoy the show.”
It was meant as both a joke, and a way to flatter the girl. She may not believe what he said, and - to be quite frank - he had no idea whether one person could even possibly take down a troll by themselves, but words like those had a way of making people feel good about themselves, however unrealistic they might be. And hey, if it scored him some points with a beautiful girl, it was a win-win situation all-around.
“'That guy?'” he replied to her comment concerning his love for the idea of flying, placing a hand on his chest to feign offense. “If by ‘that guy,’ you mean someone who’s adventurous, fearless, handsome, as well as humble, then sure, I guess that could be me.” The smile on his face was meant to show that all of his self-aggrandizing was nothing more than a joke. The blond-haired boy wasn’t arrogant or prideful, though he often joked as though he was. He continued, “I don’t know exactly it means that you’re guessing I’ll be in Gryffindor, but I’m going to assume it’s a compliment. But really, out of everything in the magic world, quidditch seems like one of the most exciting things. There’s just no way that a game like that could be played, or even imagined, where I come from.” Truly, it was largely that sense of novelty and originality that made quidditch so utterly fascinating to him.
He didn’t know what village she spoke of, but was disappointed to hear that brooms were expensive. He supposed he should have guessed as much, but what was the harm in hoping that a free flying stick might just fall into his lap? Maybe it could still happen. Anything seemed possible…
“Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to show you just how great flying really is, and in return, you can smuggle me into that village when you go!”
“Wingardium Leviosa,” Opeila told him the charm was called, as if he would actually remember that five minutes from now. Oh, what was it again? Windy Woosh? Yeah, that had to be close enough.
In any case, if her intent was to make him more excited about going to Charms class, then she had succeeded.
“I can’t wait to learn that,” he said excitedly.
Following the solemn change of subject, Opeila seemed to regret her question about his siblings. She apologized, though there was reason for her to do so. It wasn’t as though she had any way to know about his sister. He rather doubted that she had purposefully brought the topic up in order to hurt him.
Thankfully, he managed to make her smile, which made it much easier for him to retain the grin on his own face, as it once again became more genuine. She informed him that he did indeed look fantastic wearing the rope necklace, and he scratched his chin.
“Come on now, you’re going to make me blush. I know I look great now, but you should have seen me this morning. Scary, I tell you. The stuff of nightmares.” In reality, he had done absolutely nothing to change his look that morning, aside from change into clean clothing, leaving his hair a bit on the messy side. “Some people have to work hard to look half-decent, unlike some others I know, who are just naturally a wonder to look at.” He gave her a meaningful look.
He hoped they could leave the subject of family well behind for now. He couldn’t think of Fawn. He had to stay strong, and that meant thinking of anything else.

The Early Bird Gets The Eggs
@Marshal Mozor
Opeila took a sip of her pumpkin juice, amused about Marshal's fascination. This was very much fun, slowly giving the word 'magic', that had been thrown at him, a foundation. The house would be built on it when he arrived in Hogwarts.
The pumpkin juice went down the wrong way, when Marshal asked if it wouldn't be cool to meet one in person. That she probably could easily take one. "...You really want to kill me, don't you?" Opeila coughed, her face turning red.
She needed a moment to be able to breathe again and cleared her throat a last time. "I... No. Maybe. I know it worked, when a troll was let into Hogwarts in Harry Potter's time, some first years took a troll down." She paused and quickly continued, when she realized that Harry Potter was probably an unknown to the boy as well.
"Harry Potter was a big wizard. He killed Lord Voldemort, one of the greatest dark wizards ever, who led a group named the deatheaters. They were like... well. Nazis in the wizarding world?" She lowered her voice and her gaze, almost a little uncomfortable saying that. "Tried to kill all muggleborns and rule over the world, I think."
Opeila laughed again, when Marshal reacted to her question if he was 'that guy'. "Exactly, though I think you forgot 'modest'." She shook her head, grinning.
And there was her next mistake- she didn't explain the houses to him. "Right so- There are four houses, you will be sorted on the first evening. Gryffindor are the brave, adventurous... You're more familiar with that group of adjectives than I am, I guess." She grinned. "Harry Potter was a Gryffindor too.
Okay, so then there is Ravenclaw, the smart ones- or so it's said. Between us, I haven't met a lot of smart Ravenclaws, sadly. I guess some of them are booksmart, but many seem to lack the smartness needed in everyday life. And social skills. Not saying all of them are like that, but some I met... well. I don't know, weird ones. Hufflepuffs are friendly and helpful. Or many of them. Some of those cross lines there, but well. There are worse lines to cross. And then there is my house, the amazing, the cunning, Slytherin." Dramatically she placed one hand on her chest. "Bunch of weirdos we are, I tell you. Many shady figures and not gonna lie, some Slytherins are just mean. And hold on to stopid traditions. Slytherin, the founder, was no fan of muggleborns and some idiots act just like that. But I met some of the greatest people I've ever met in that house." That pretty much summed her opinions up.
Opeila was honestly amazed, how easy, how natural it was to talk to Marshal. With other people, the sibling topic would have killed the light mood, but Marshal went just over it. It was all okay, it seemed. Instead of being upset, he went on joking- or at least ahe thought he was joking- and bragging about his looks. Opeila raised one finger. "Careful now, Marshal- It's getting unbelievable."
Opeila ate up her toast and looked at her watch. "Okay, I need to feed my cat now, or my tent will be torn apart when I return."
The Slytherin got off her seat. "It was nice to meet you, Marshal. Looking forward to meet again- in Hogwarts!"
