Tent PV The Calm After The Storm Closed

It was the evening after the BBQ. The sun was low in the sky, turning it a masterpiece of orange and pink that Dymphna could stare at until the stars came out. She would have done just that, sat outside the tent a while longer, if it weren't for Celestina squeaking at her for a bedtime snack. "Alright, c'mere you." The pink ball of fluff crawled into her hand and she stepped back inside the tent.

It was decorated similarly to the Ravenclaw common room - something that she and her tent mates were all used to - in different shades of blues. There was even a small bookshelf surrounded by three plush chairs and a fireplace to fight off any evening chill. Dymphna didn't think that they would need it, but it was nice to have such a fancy tent. There was even a golden chandelier. Is this what the muggles called Glamping? Her trunk was sitting open at the edge of her bed, which is where Celestina spent much of her time. She didn't like to eat alone and would even sometimes refuse to eat unless the blonde fed her.

"Nice night," she commented, feeding bits of food to the hungry creature. Celestina eyed their tent mates. She was used to the both of them but sometimes seemed wary, as if they would take her food away. A gentle pet relaxed her and Dymphna continued on, "I think I'll stay up a while. If either of you are ready to sleep, I can always sit outside and read instead." Lumos was a handy spell that she found herself using mostly to catch up on her reading. It was a nasty habit to read throughout the night and be exhausted by breakfast, but if she got sucked into a hefty book about dragons rather than studying for Herbology then so be it.

Once Celestina was done, she placed her in the trunk and watched her curl up in her nest of scarves to go to sleep. Dymphna herself was already dressed for bed despite not being sleepy. If her friends wanted to stay up and chat a while, she didn't mind that either. They hadn't had a good long chat in a while. There was a lot to discuss, especially with Bloom considering she didn't even know if she and Ben were still together. What exactly had happened with that? Would Bloom want to talk about it?

She cocked her head and looked at them both. They both seemed to have more experience with boys than she did - Bloom having actually had a boyfriend before and Phaedra speaking with that handsome bloke at the cookout. It was as if the world had shifted and suddenly boys weren't so bad afterall. Even Oliver seemed to be a decent guy. There was always Reid, of course. He didn't exactly count, did he? She'd known him since the beginning and he never seemed to make her nervous, not like other boys did anyway. Ugh. Why was being a teenager so hard? She fiddled with the lobster locket Reid had given her for her thirteenth birthday, waiting to see what the other girls plans were before she got sucked into yet another book for the night.

Bloom was thankful that Dymphna had asked her to be one of her tent partners. Bloom wouldn't know who else she would have ended up with if it weren't for her. It was also a great time to catch up with Dymphna and get to know Phaedra.

The tent was absolutely gorgeous. The different shades of blue and the glamping of a chandelier. It was both classy and chic. Bloom wouldn't know how to decorate a tent like Dymphna. She would have probably kept it all one color, forgetting the many hues that come with each color. Dymphna not only came on her own, but she brought her pet, a gorgeous pygmy puff.

"Oh! I'm not sleeping right away, are you kidding me?" she said, excitedly. Sleeping early the first night was nonsense. This was the time for girl time before everything begins the next day. Bloom smiled at Dymphna and Phaedra, wondering what to talk about. Boys, obviously... Bloom thought, thinking about how she deeply did not want to think about Ben, but it was probable that it may happen.

"Can you guys believe that we are going to be fourth years?" she asked, slowly shying away from the inevitable "boy talk" that was to come. In turn, it was shocking that they were going to be fourth years. That was more than halfway into their Hogwarts years. Even to this day, Bloom had no idea what she wanted to be when she graduated from Hogwarts. She only had three more years to figure everything out.

Phaedra was impressed with the work her best friend had done for the tent. If there was any colour she'd happily subject herself to for the rest of her life it was blue, and the bookshelf gave a taste of home even out in the wilderness. Leave it to Dymphna to think ahead concerning the enjoyment of her friends.

Cleo lay at the foot of Phaedra's bed, grooming herself in post-meal contentment. The feline paid no mind to any of the witches as they settled down for the night, nor did she spare a glance to Celestina from across the tent. It seemed the cat had gotten used to the pygmy puff's presence, when in their dormitories before she had enjoyed watching its every movement. Her ear twitched as Phaedra gave it a passing scratch; the only acknowledgement towards her human since taking up the bed. Despite the lack of interest in her surroundings now, she'd likely lay atop Phaedra's chest when it was time to sleep. Demanding attention in the most inopportune moments was an almost annoying part of the cat's diva-like personality. But it was a good thing she was cute.

After making herself comfortable on her own bed, Phaedra crossed her legs and faced the other two girls. "I'm not tired," she said, playing with a loose thread of her blanket. Not yet, at least. It had been a long day on her feet, and the prefect had nearly exhausted all of her social energy and was in desperate need of a recharge. She could handle a small group like this though. In her eyes, Dymphna and Bloom were familiar, quiet, and mature. They were perfect for light chatter before turning over and Phaedra was confident they wouldn't play any stupid pranks. She smiled before speaking after Bloom. "I know. It's very exciting. Everything's happening so quickly. Maybe we'll finally start to get taken seriously now that we're halfway through our time here."

"Ugh, don't remind me," The blonde was excited to be a year older, a fourth year at last, but it was stressful to think that they only had a limited time in school. She was a lifelong learner and didn't plan on letting go of a school routine that quickly. Perhaps there was some additional schooling she could continue after Hogwarts. It also didn't help that her childhood dreams seemed impossible to come true. Following in her mother's footsteps, becoming a Healer wasn't in the cards for her. It was something she was slowly coming to terms with, focusing on the classes that actually mattered to her rather than continuing to struggle in Herbology and Potions. Of course, she did well enough to get a passing grade but it wasn't something she constantly studied for anymore.

Dymphna felt that she was taken seriously when it came to her cousins at least. They generally listened intently to anything she had to say, especially if it were a problem involving school. However, she understood what Phaedra meant. Not everyone treated them the same. She felt that half the time, Hogwarts was a bit of a joke. They were learning but the dangers outweighed a lot of the good the school was doing. Still, she couldn't imagine going anywhere else. It was why she returned before the start of summer.

There could be dangers lurking in the Summer Camp, but she didn't want to think about it. Heck, Quidditch was dangerous and she still enjoyed the sport, but that was a danger that she recognized and knew the risks before signing up. It was also why she didn't mind being Keeper, wearing the most protective gear. It was a fun game to play, but she didn't think she could do it professionally. As much as she admired Professor Bercegeay, Dymphna thought that going into something involving history or literature would be fascinating. Hopefully her hobbies wouldn't change too much before they left school.

"We have a while to figure things out," Dymph began with a sigh, "I'm not sure what I'll do as a career though. Granny wants me to work at the Ministry. Dadaí wants me at the museum." There was a lot of expectation for her to do great things. Everyone in her family imagined her future differently though. Dymphna herself didn't see it clearly as she had before Hogwarts. Before Hogwarts, everything was much simpler. She always had Friday night dinners to look forward to and there weren't many expectations, only the ones she set for herself which wasn't likely to happen now. Her spellcasting wasn't bad, but she wouldn't have enough potions knowledge to ever become a Healer. Not to mention her own trauma, how could she help others if she couldn't help herself?

Bloom never thought about being taken seriously or not. It was definitely a positive outlook in them getting older in Hogwarts. "Phaedra, that's an excellent point!" Bloom said, while thinking about what they were able to get away with now that they were going to be fourth years. Though, it also meant more homework and classes to take. It was bitter-sweet.

Although the future was not hers, there seemed to be a future for Dymphna. To either work at a museum or work at the Ministry, it all seems like real jobs to earn. Bloom had no idea what she wanted to be. Did she want to work in the Ministry herself? Did she want to be a professor? There were so many careers that Bloom didn't really know herself well to know what she wanted to be. She had a lot of "soul-searching" to figure herself out.

Great... Bloom thought, she realized that her question was not the best question, at least for herself. It now made her think about her future and how she would end up no where. Who knew about the others. They probably knew where they wanted to be, but it really brought down Bloom's mood. Anything she chose, it would be nothing like Bloom's older sister, Claire, who worked in the Ministry. Bloom had no idea what she did because she doesn't connect with her as much, being that she is much older than her, but she knew where she worked because her parents would often boast about it.

Perhaps it was the time to bring in the "boys" into the mix. It was only appropriate. Bloom swallowed her fear of them asking about Ben and began to start the conversation.

"So... Did you see some of those Durmstrang guys?" she asked, a small smile appearing on her face. Although they were the same age, it was almost as though they were from a different planet. They looked so much stronger than their Hogwarts boys. "I wonder what kinds of food they feed them..., she thought out loud to herself, and laughed.
