First One Up - Climbing CompetitionThere is nothing better than the spirit of competition to waken students mentally and create a buzz in the air. With the previous days of trekking and experience with the wilderness behind them, now would be now the one and only chance to compete in climbing a cliff wall before the students were to head to a whole another world of the Durmstrang wilderness.
The students who would be participating in the climbing sat in chairs in a makeshift pavilion with the stage in front of them. For enjoyment purposes, a radio had been brought over and wizarding rock music was playing. They would have joined a mandatory class the day before to practice using the gear and practice climbing an easier cliff to prepare for the big event.
Those that would be spectating would find themselves for the first time in a while under an environment charmed cooler. They would have snacks, drinks, and binoculars available to view their friends or classmates climb to the top.
Headmaster Emery stepped onto the stage and with help from the Amplifying Charm, announced to the group of students who had the chance to win a fiscal prize.
“Welcome to your second competition! With the exciting conclusion of a competition that utilised your mental ability, now is the chance to test your strength and agility in a race to the top of the cliff that you see before you. To protect your safety, a net has been placed to catch you. If you find yourself faint or unable to continue, please cast red sparks, and one of my assistants will levitate you to the top where we will meet you at the conclusion of the competition. There will be staff to take care of you at that location. Now with the logistics said, my assistants will hand you your gear and guide you to the starting point! We are cheering you on and cannot wait to see you on the other side of this amazing competition.”
With this concluded, Emery announced the snacks and feast to be presented to the students and he began the competition clock. He himself began munching on a piece of chocolate and drinking some pumpkin juice.Event Information

2. Older students will find this easier due to natural height and strength.

4. Damage: Everyone starts with HP (Stamina x 100); Easy obstacles - Damage = (Speed*5 - 4)* 10; Medium obstacles - Damage = (Speed*5 -3)* 10; Hard obstacles - Damage = (Speed *5 -2)* 10, Very Hard obstacles - Damage = (Speed * 5 - 1) * 10
5. If HP reaches 0, you will be levitated towards the top and your race is over, for safety reasons.
Cheating
You may choose to cheat if you feel it gives you an advantage. Look at the possible options. A d20 will be rolled to see if you are caught by the professors. You must get 11 or higher to succeed in cheating.
1. Cast Wingardium Leviosa upon yourself. Must have spell in trunk. Due to light weight, your speed + 2. Damage is limited to chosen speed. Wisdom DC = 15
2. Kick(below you)/Hit (at same level or above) opponent. Damage = 10 *Str. Opponent is hurt and needs to pause for one round. Wisdom DC = 15
3. Green Spark Charm (opponents must be at same level as you). Damage = 5* ARC. Blinds your opponent for one round as sparks occur right in front of their eyes. Wisdom DC = 151st Place: 40 sickles
2nd Place: 20 sickles
3rd Place: 10 sickles

Theodore had never climbed before, until the day before the climbing event. The first thing he thought about it? Useless. Who'd even want to voluntarily climb rocks and mountains? What if they fell? Now, the worry he was feeling was for only one person. @Magnus Blackwood. Not because he liked the guy -no, Theodore found him to be annoying and bossy, a combination he didn't like-, but because they knew each other. He didn't particularly enjoy people injuring themselves, even though his worries weren't for the dozen of other people participating in that errand.
The headmaster of Durmstrang gave a rather long speech, talking about what'd happen if they fell or couldn't bother to continue. Participating in such events was something his parents found good enough for socialization; of course, they didn't expect him to actually socialize -they knew their son better than that-, but for them, it was worth a try. And now, here he was, standing at the bottom of a bigger cliff than the previous day, wearing the proper gear, and waiting for the start of the competition. Fine, then, if it had to be done, it would be done. He didn't even care who won the competition, as long as someone won and ended it fast.

Perhaps that was what had drawn her to sign up for a climbing competition, something she had never once tried in her life; but she was in this new place, in the Ugandan mountains, and she was going to try something new. Yeah, what a load of proper rubbish. Kahira was just bored and wanted to kick some butt. She approached the cliffs with only a little bit of hesitance in her dark eyes, glancing round at the other students who had gathered to take part. No doubt some of them were in it for the rewards, unlike the young redhead, whose only desired prize was the glory; she even smirked somewhat at the blond-haired Durmstrang headmaster's speech about how to concede. She was only twenty-something days into her Hogwarts education and didn't even know how to cast Red Sparks yet, but that was something she would keep a secret, seeing as how she didn't exactly plan to give up during this competition. Kahira's gaze darted over to the boy beside her, somewhat surprised when she actually recognised him. It was the sniffly fellow from the stands in the alumni Quidditch match over camp, around a month earlier; a cruel smirk spread over her glossed lips at the sight of him. "I do certainly hope your head cold has gotten better," she said, taking a sizable and pointed step away from him. "I should hate to return to Hogwarts all... ill or something." |

Elara had watched the other students while they waited in the pavilion. Some were talking with each other. Others were looking towards the cliff. She did the same. It was higher than the cliff they had practiced on the day before. When the assistants came over with the climbing gear, Elara checked everything as they showed her how it worked. She remembered most of it from the practice. Still, she checked the straps once more before putting them on. Soon, the students were led to the starting point. Elara stood with the others and looked up at the cliff. There were grips along the rock, but they looked quite small from where she was standing. She looked down at her hands instead. She didn't want to think about the height. The music from the pavilion was still faintly audible behind them. Elara could hear a few voices nearby as everyone waited for the competition to start. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, the straps around her waist pressing lightly against her hands. She tugged at one of them, then stopped herself. They were fine. She had already checked them. A few students nearby were talking about the climb. Elara caught bits of their conversation without looking over. Someone mentioned the height, which made her glance at the ground again. She watched the dirt beneath her shoes for a moment. There was a small pebble near her foot, and she nudged it aside with her toe. She looked up again, but kept her eyes on the grips. Just focus on the grips. Don't look down.

____Another activities has begun. Millie signed-up for this challenge out of her excitement, merely hoping she can see more things she has never seen before. Captures more and more foreign, breathtaking nature and sight seeing she will never see again once she's back to England. But the result of knowing the actual event, left her shocked. Not expecting it will actually quite thrilling climbing with that tracking route. The girl stone froze, almost swept up by the wind which waken her devastation up.
____Will she make it? Will she stand it to the end? To the top of that cliff? And more importantly, will she ignore that height? Millie forced herself to swallowed her saliva, quell her nervousness. Being ignorance for once was never be a problem. She doesn't want to look weak. She have proof to that.
____After finding her courage out of her deepest core, sleeping so peacefully in the deep corner along with her determination, Millie walked along with the assistants to the starting point of this event and took the gear and equipment they handed it to her. She had to weigh that things in her hands for quite a long time, still considering another thought which have a fight so stubbornly in her mind. But no, she will not back out even though Durmstrang Headmaster had said they can even give up in the middle of track. No. If she can stand it, she will finish whatever it is.

So when the news of the climbing competition sprung, he wasn’t late to sign up. It was what he was bort for after all! The days in the unfamiliar climate had been rough. Sweating like a pig, and drinking so much water he got utterly bored with it. Imagine that, bored of drinking! But his body seemed to have adjusted to it, or at least a little bit. He didn’t feel as heavy today. Maybe that was just the excitement though. Nevertheless he didn’t linger on it. Showing up to the start line, he did a few stretches. Not that he saw the point to any of them, but people kept insisting like they mattered. So he had stuck to it.
He listened to the introduction of the event with half an ear while sizing up his competition. He liked his fun and games, but he liked winning even more. Not many he saw as real competition. So far a ravenclaw from his year, a couple of first years, including one who had the color of a traffic cone in her hair. A dude he didn’t recognize, and… Shit. That guy was definitely trouble. He still didn’t know his name, only that he was some sort of eastern european. The guy had beaten him up during their spring visit to Hogwarts, and that for just asking him to move. He considered hiding for a moment, but decided against it. A smile spread across his face as he got ready at the starting line. Oh how satisfying wouldn’t it be to kick that guy accidentally in the face on his way up…

That was the first thought Bella had to herself as she glanced up at the cliffside that seemed to stretch to the sky.
You are scared of heights, Bella. You literally have acrophobia, and everyone who knows you well know that. Why are you doing this to yourself?
Bella clutched her fists, not really sure what she was doing. She was very excited, but she was also nervous and slightly terrified.
Bella, along with her fellow competitors, sat in chairs on a pavilion with the stage in front of them. Music blasted out from a radio nearby, and as they waited, Bella reminded herself of what she learned yesterday about using the gear and climbing the easier cliff. She was already frightened with the small cliff ~ gosh, what was she doing here?
She saw Headmaster Emery step up onto the stage, introduce the competition, and reveal the prize. He mentioned that there will be a net placed to catch the competitors shall they fall. And if they need help, they should cast the red sparks charm, which Bella learned a couple classes ago, to help them.
Bella mutely stood up and followed the rest of her competitors to get ready for the real event.
"I'm ready. I can do this, if not for the prize, but to simply prove that I am willing to try," she told herself, smiling. She can feel her determination building up and breaking the rest of her fear.
Bella was just taking a couple of deep breaths to calm her nerves when she saw a familiar face nearby. In fact, two familiar faces.
"XIO! ELARA!" she yelled, trying to be able to be heard over the noise and chatter. "HI!"

Chuki enjoys competition. She looked up to the women in her tribe who had combat prowess and had proven their strength through various trials that were set forth by the Chiefess herself. They too were competitive, always training and looking for the upper hand against their fellow sisters during it. That was why Chuki chose broom racing as a sport in school. The adrenaline of pushing through various obstacles, watching her opponent plummet and once again prove her own strength...it was breath-taking.
Now Chuki was faced with climbing. A sport of its own, apparently in many countries. Chuki personally didn't see the appeal in such in comparison to broom racing. You go up, and you simply hope you return alive back down. In broom racing, at least there is some form of massive change-overs. A race that is capable of changing at the last minute. But it wasn't beneath Chuki to try something new, to be proven wrong just as much as she is proven right.
And Chuki was sure she'd do it again, destroying her opponents. Climbing meant nothing, but still...what was a competition without seeking to make one's opponents fight at their very best?
"All of you, don't be surprised if you fall! Tends to happen to those who only know weakness! And I must admit, you all look rather thin-boned! But have no fear, I shall only laugh at first who falls." And with that, Chuki prepares herself to climb upwards with only the mentality to prove herself, as always, being the best.
