“You went to a muggle school?” Lucia asked.
“Um, yeah, one in Kensington near my home.” Lindsey answered. “My parents sent my brother and I there.”
Is this rather an uncommon thing? Thought Lindsey. It’s a surprise that not many wizard parents sent there children to muggle primary schools——why wizards don’t learn maths, physics and chemistry?
Actually Lindsey though that maths was definitely interesting, even better then Charms and Potions, which were her favorite. History was not bad, either. It’s like History of Magic, but they were somehow different——she couldn’t explain it well.
“I think it’s rather interesting to attend a school, right? Like we attend Hogwarts now.”
Attending the muggle school definitely helped Lindsey to know more about how to stay with others and how to communicate with people. As a result, Lindsey found this year at Hogwarts pretty easy——she got along with most of her friends and housemates, and her scores were rather high. Wizard subjects were easier than muggles——you had to admit that.
“And…have you attend some sorts of wizard primary school when you were young?” She asked Lucia curiously. Maybe there’s one but her parents just didn’t know?
“I mean——perhaps you’ve at least heard about one. I haven’t.” she added, trying to explain things clearer.

"A wizarding primary school?" Lucia asked (rhetorically of course; she didn't really expect Lindsey to reply). "I don't think I have ever heard of one before, no,"
Quickly, the girl racked her brains for anything her mother had said before about wizarding schools for children too young to attend Hogwarts. She found none. Lucia wasn't sure what Ebony's education had looked like prior Hogwarts - she had never asked.
"My sisters and I were homeschooled. We learned maths, and English, and the sciences, and other subjects as well. I always liked music, where we all used to sing together like a mini choir, Bree - Briar - she liked basically everything, and Willow liked PE, where we basically player loads of games outside, but hated biology because of all the pictures of dissections in the textbook. She wasn't even supposed to read that, because that was mine and Bree's and she had one for kids her age. I think she thought it had pictures of magical creatures in it, but of course it didn't. We had separate books for things like that."
Lucia remembered the days at home spent working in the back room behind the shop, occasionally running out to grab a book off the shelves or ask a question. Although Ebony had sometimes been too busy to help them, she always did the best she could for her daughters.

“So you have a sister?” Lindsey asked curiously.
This seemed a rather harmless question, and she hoped that Lucia wouldn’t feel bad on this or something.
“I don’t have any sisters, nor female cousins. I’m the only girl in my family.” She added. “Only got a brother and two cousins.”
Although no girls were in her family, Lindsey got along with her brothers quite well. She couldn’t meet Enjolras and Combeferre very often, but she liked them a lot. Edmund was good to her, and so was the two cousins.
She still remembered the time when Enj helped her out with maths, Ferre taught her French, and Ed held her hand to practice archery. They were not very much older than her, but they seemed a lot mature when they were together.
“Where do you live by the way?” she asked casually.
“Well, for now, no one seemed near my home.” She shrugged her shoulders. “And it’s rather impossible for me to visit them during summer.”
Hmm, that’s a pretty interesting question. Kensington was a great place, and Lindsey always wondered why nobody lived there. Maybe because there lived plenty of muggles? But that’s not the case, was it?
She looked back to Lucia. She really hoped that her questions wouldn’t be inappropriate for the girl standing with her.

Lindsey asked if Lucia had a sister, and explained about the female-less situation of her family.
Lucia's eyes widened. After growing up for most of her life with just Ebony, Bree and Willow, she couldn't imagine a life where you were the only girl in a family.
For a moment, Lucia wondered if this meant that something had happened to Lindsey's mother - or father as she didn't mention him, but then she remembered that if the head of the Springhall household died or something like that, it would be around most pureblood circles within a month.
However, the girl did not ask about either of the Springhall parents, because she remembered that she didn't like talking about people like her father - who Lucia was pretty sure was missing, presumed dead. She didn't really know, and she didn't really care either - which is what made conversations about him so awkward. Everyone was convinced that Lucia was such a poor little fatherless girl and really? The truth of it was that he wasn't there, so he didn't matter.
Coming out of her mini-daydream, Lucia said, "Yes, I have two: Briar and Willow. Bree's coming to Hogwarts next year" - Lucia laughed - "she's been talking about it ever since I got my letter!"
Lindsey then asked where the Foxes lived, and mentioned that not many people seemed to live near her. Was Lindsey hinting that she'd like to visit Lucia over the summer? That was a bit strange, as they'd only just met. But then again, it wasn't that far from the summer now so maybe she was.
"Oxford," Lucia said, her jaw set. She knew that most purebloods expected other purebloods to be all rich and posh, and although Ebony often acted as such, she was really anything but. She ran a bookshop, for Merlin's sake, a bookshop that muggles came to - even if there was, of course, a magical section hidden in the back. And though Lucia was pretty sure the Springhalls were not of the judging type, she still needed to be prepared just in case - Lucia Fox and Teasing were most certainly not friends.

“Wow that’s great!” Lindsey answered, then laughed. “Actually in my family, I’m the one talking about Hogwarts before receiving my own letter!”
That’s very true. She even had a time dreaming about going to Beauxbatons like Enjolras and Combeferre after Edmund teased her that she wouldn’t receive her Hogwarts letter. It’s somehow good to be the youngest and only girl in your family——you’d get as much attention as you want. Thought Lindsey.
Lucia said that she lived in Oxford.
“Oxford? Do you live near Oxford University, one of the best muggle colleges in the world?” she asked, rather excitedly.
Her grandfather (maternal) had told her about Cambridge and Oxford when she was young——the best universities, he told her. Lindsey, at that time, actually hoped to get into one of them when she didn’t discover her magical ability. However it’s said that you must study very hard, and she worked on maths and physics at a young age as a result.
It’s all past stories, though. Her grandfather sometimes mentioned it to his daughter and son in law as an interesting story, and he’d get Lindsey stared at him. But, if she’s not that good at magic…Lindsey sighed, she’d go to the muggle world straightaway and studied for the exams to get in one of these universities.
Although, she did hope that she’d be good at Hogwarts and did not need to leave this fantastic world.

"Oxford university?"
Lucia had walked past there a few times - you couldn't live in Oxford without doing so, she thought - but from the outside it had never really struck her as one of the best muggle collages in the world.
Its architecture was lovely though - all stone columns and romantic archways. In fact, most of Lucia's home city was built as such and it was one of the reasons that the girl loved it so much. If she had been asked to write any sort of romance story, then Lucia Fox would most definitely have set it in Oxford.
The famous Bridge of Sighs, for example, would be a wonderful place for the lovers to meet for the first time. Once upon a time, a young Lucia had asked her mother why such obvious use of magic was permitted under the Statuette of Secrecy, but Ebony had hushed her daughter and explained that it had been completely designed by muggles. Briar in particular had been most impressed by it, trying to work out where the foundations could have been placed.
However, even Oxford could not compete with Hogwarts. Nothing could compete with Hogwarts.
Lucia shrugged.
"Well, not that near, but it's within walking distance," she said, and wondered why a pureblood witch had heard about the muggle university to start with - Lucia herself only knew of its existence due to living in close proximity.

“Well, not that near, but it's within walking distance.” Lucia told her.
“Ah, then that must be very interesting! We don’t have such a famous university in Kensington you know.” Lindsey grinned.
Kensington was a rather small place compare to Oxford or somewhere else. All in all, it’s in London, right? But it was said that Kensington gathered a bunch of wealthy muggles——Lindsey heard it from some house sellers in her district. She often felt that they were not honest——the Springhalls ancestors were never that rich, only from her grandparents generation did the amount of money grew.
She often supposed whether her ancestors used magic. Her parents told her that they didn’t, because at that time the houses weren’t as expensive as they were now.
She still disbelieved it, and really wanted to discover the truth.
“Hey Lucia——by the way, do you live in a wizard or muggle community? Or, is there a wizard community in Oxford?” The young badger suddenly asked, again, rather awkwardly.
There wasn’t one in Kensington, so her ancestors built the house (or manor, as it’s very big) in a muggle district. The man next door was a wealthy but very old muggle, and he’s very unfriendly to Lindsey. That beautiful female author who lived across from the street was nice though…so was that family lived in that big house.
She thought all of this, while listening attentively if Lucia had replied——she really didn’t know much about the world outside Kensington and London.

"Well, sort of," Lucia replied in answer to Lindsey's question.
"There are a few wizarding families, but not many. And a few mu-" Lucia suddenly stopped herself. She had been about to say 'mudbloods', but since coming to Hogwarts she had discovered that that the word was actually quite offensive. Strangely for most wizards and witches, Lucia and her sisters didn't use 'mudblood' as an insult. That was simply what they thought everyone called muggleborns, and in the Fox household it was a perfectly acceptable part of their vocabulary. It was only through talking and listening to people at school that Lucia had discovered it's true origins.
"- muggleborns." she continued, hoping Lindsey hadn't noticed her falter. "But I've never met them, just... Seen them from a distance."
It was true; Ebony Fox knew the identity of every Oxford muggleborn and kept her children away from them.
"We have a magical section in the bookshop - hidden, of course - and... Wait. Did I mention I live in a bookshop?" Lucia asked frowning slightly and blushing a bit as well, in case Lindsey would think it was beneath any respectable pureblood family to own and work in a muggle bookshop, even if it had a hidden wizarding section.
She couldn't remember if she had or not, and her brow creased as she tried to.
Well, actually, the Foxes didn't live in the bookshop, their actual living areas were on the floors above it, but that wasn't important right now.

“There are a few wizarding families, but not many. And a few mu-” Lucia told her.
Then it must be good. Nobody’s magical in Kensington, Lindsey thought. At least she didn’t know any of those families.
Lucia added “-muggleborns” after saying the first syllable “mu”. She might want to say “mudblood”, Lindsey guessed. Some pure bloods still said that word when they were young, and the Foxes might be one of them too.
But what’s the matter? Lucia seemed pretty nice so far, and she wouldn’t be an annoying snake——or some other annoying pureblood people. The pure snakes she knew were probably not annoying at all, at least.
“You have a magical bookshop there and you live in it?” Lindsey exclaimed. “Wow that’s amazing!”
All Springhalls were book fans——even for the muggle novels. You could look at their three boys’ names for example. Her mom’s biggest dream when she was young was to become a librarian. Her father wanted to live in books for three months. Edmund yelled that he would not be back if he didn’t finish his reading. And, Lindsey——well, she simply stayed in her room for a couple of days without coming out reading books…
A smile played on the young badger’s lips.
“We don’t have a magical bookshop in Kensington but we’ve got a rather big study in Serendipity Garden——ah, forgot to say, that’s the name of our house. We have to live on muggle novels though.” she smiled, a bit nervously.

Sorry for the late reply, @Lindsey Springhall
Serendipity Garden - a very grand name for a house, so Lucia thought! It had a wonderful ring to it though. The house where Lucia and her mother and sisters resided was not really grand enough to have a proper name - or who knew, maybe it had one once? Right now, it was known as 'the bookshop down the road with the pretty owner' by most neighbors ('Fox's Magic Shop' if you wanted to be proper - Lucia and her sisters had often laughed over the obviousness of the name. Muggles seemed to think it was cute and endearing, even when it practically shouted in their faces 'THE OWNER OF THIS SHOP IS A WITCH'. It was almost cute, how they seemed not to want to know. At least it was a sure-fire way of telling the magical community where they were though) and 'home' by it's four female inhabitants.
"You have to live on muggle books?" Lucia asked, astounded. "I mean, they're all very well, but seriously... You haven't lived if you've not read any books by our community. You know muggles think we can all do wandless magic from the age of five?" - she snorted - "Some think that we breathe spells, like off paper! If only!"
