A New…?
Date: 16/6/2020
The young badger wandered on the fourth floor, without noticing where she’s heading. She had taken her flute in her pocket, and just climbed out their common room.
Lindsey would prefer somewhere higher, especially when she wanted to play her flute. A pavilion built on small lake in the middle of the garden would be best, but a tower would work too. As a result, she climbed up here.
Sounds of music came out behind a rather huge door. Jazz, heavy metal, classical…she could distinguish every sound.
No Chinese music though.
Lindsey could play the piano, and flute. However, her flute was not the European type used in the orchestra. It’s a traditional Chinese one, made of bamboo. Her grandmother was from China and she taught this to Lindsey. She also gave this beautifully made and carved flute to Lindsey on her ninth birthday.
She could play it well soon, even better than her piano, which she started learning when she was three.
The Hufflepuff now put her hand on the handle, and tiptoed in. Nobody had noticed her.
She walked straight to the window, leaned against it, and pulled out her precious flute.
From the window could see the Great Lake, and moon was accidentally shining today.
Lindsey began playing a famous tune, 秋湖月夜 (Qiu Hu Yue Ye). Meaning: A moonlit night on the lake in Autumn It’s really appropriate to play it now, with moon, lake and night.
The tune’s sort of sad, and peaceful. Lindsey really loved this kind of tunes. Poetic, aren’t they?
She soon immersed in music.

Interacting with @ Lindsey SpringhallLucia was on her way from her dormitory in Hufflepuff to the Owlery when she passed the Rehearsal Room.
Although the girl had been often to the ballroom, usually alone and uninterrupted, she had never actually been inside the Rehearsal Room.
However, it wasn't that fact that made her open the door.
It was because as she hurried past in search of fresh air, she heard a haunting melody whispering through the wood, breathing gently into the corridor where the young Hufflepuff stood.
What was it?
Lucia had never heard anything like it before.
It was certainly not made by any instrument she had ever heard or seen - but then again, that was not surprising as the girl didn't really go in for orchestral or instrumental music, preferring vocals.
Quietly, Lucia Fox turned and pushed open the door.
Standing in the corner of the room was a short girl with shining blond hair. She was gazing out of the window she learnt on as she played her instrument - what was it?
She could see now that no, she hadn't seen it before.
It was made of bamboo, and was covered in carvings. Actually, Lucia thought, It looked quite similar to a... what is it called?
Lucia thought for a second.
A flute.
Although those, of course, were made of metal and not bamboo.
The girl didn't seem to have noticed Lucia, being immersed in her music, so the latter quietly closed the door behind her and sat down on a seat nearby.

While Lindsey was playing, she suddenly noticed someone coming along.
Lindsey’s really sensitive, especially to sounds and movements. These might was caused by music learning and sword practicing.
She had been learning music from a very young age, and her grandmother taught her martial arts and archery. As a result, she was amazingly good at identifying sounds and movements.
However, Lindsey kept finished the tune. She knew that if she suddenly stopped playing and go up, saying “hello!” would make the girl feel a little embarrassed and maybe even guilty for breaking in.
The tune finally ended.
Lindsey turned, pretending that she had just seen the girl.
“Oh hi!” She smiled. “I didn’t notice that someone’s listening.” she said kindly.
Now, Lindsey had a good look on the girl. Her face seemed familiar.
Where had I seen her? Lindsey thought.
She suddenly remembered that she had seen the girl in their common room for a few times. That’s why she thought she had seen her.
“Ah, I’m Lindsey——Lindsey Springhall——-Hufflepuff. I guess you are a badger too? I think I’ve seen you somewhere in the common room.”
Lindsey let her flute slipped in her pocket.
“You are——on any missions?” She asked the girl, smiling.

Interacting with @Lindsey SpringhallBy the time the tune came to an end Lucia Fox had all but forgotten about her previous thirst for fresh air.
Although she didn't listen to the style very much, she had to admit that the music the girl was playing was beautiful.
Then, the girl turned round and faced Lucia. The latter blushed slightly, and had the distinct feeling that the stranger had known all along that she was there, but had been kind enough to let Lucia sit in silence - but that was probably just the awkward part of Lucia's brain kicking in, the part that wasn't often allowed to be shown.
Without her facing the window with the light shining upon her head, the girl could be seen more clearly.
Her hair was not blond, as Lucia had thought - it was a lovely golden-brown, and slightly curly. Her eyes were brown as well, and quite big. She was tall, slim and had white skin.
Then, the girl spoke, smiling as she did so.
“Oh hi! I didn’t notice that someone’s listening.”
So she hadn't noticed then - good. Although to be honest Lucia wasn't really sure which option was better or worse - the girl carrying on before her small, one-person audience, or only discovering its existence when she turned around.
“Ah, I’m Lindsey — Lindsey Springhall — Hufflepuff. I guess you are a badger too? I think I’ve seen you somewhere in the common room.” she continued.
A small part of Lucia's mind immediately began wondering if she had heard the name 'Springhall' before, and although Lucia pushed it away it was not before the young Hufflepuff remembered that yes, she had. If she remembered right, the Springhalls were a pureblood family, though they didn't really seem proud of it, instead embracing the fact that it didn't really matter what your ancestry was - something that Lucia was trying to learn day by day. One of the family - Lindsey's father maybe? Or an uncle? - worked at the Ministry.
"Oh, uh hello Lindsey," Lucia said awkwardly, slightly embarrassed to have been caught listening. "Yes, I'm a Hufflepuff as well."
Lucia stood up - she felt awkward sitting when the other was standing, and now at least they were a similar height.
While she was doing this, Lindsey slipped her instrument - Lucia still wasn't quite sure what instrument it was - into her pocket, and asked, "You are - on any missions?"
Holding her hand out, Lucia said, "I'm Lucia. Lucia Fox," she added quickly, in case Lindsey Springhall was in the habit of addressing people with their last names. Lucia was never quite sure why people did that, although she supposed she ought to know as her own mother was one of those people sometimes.
And -" she frowned "- I'm not on a mission, no - why do you ask?"

“Oh, uh hello Lindsey. Yes, I'm a Hufflepuff as well.” The girl greeted her.
She now could take a good look of the girl——she had black and long wavy hair, and deep blue eyes. Also, she was beautiful. Like a Veela. Thought Lindsey.
The girl introduced herself as Lucia Fox. Lucia’s a pretty nice name——meaning light if Lindsey’s not mistaken——and so was Fox.
Lindsey really liked the small animal fox and regarded them as pretty cute. But this Fox was a family name.
She might have heard this name before——from her grandfather’s old stories. Maybe they’re a pureblood family too? Lindsey didn’t know.
However, she certainly hadn’t heard her parents talking about them. Perhaps they were that sorts of blood purists and weren’t on the same boat with her family.
But Lucia seemed nice——at least she’s nice so far.
“And, I'm not on a mission, no - why do you ask?” Lucia frowned.
“Um, just asking I guess.” Lindsey admitted. She learnt to ask of people were going to do things from Gerald Fawkes. That interesting Slytherin asked her about this and she liked this way of greeting. But maybe Lucia didn’t.
“Actually…just a small question to confirm if you’re okay for chatting.” she smiled. “And you seemed a little bit tired. Maybe from the towers or the Owlery? The staircases are indeed a little bothersome. At least tiring for me.”

Interacting with @Lindsey Springhall"Oh. Ok," Lucia said upon finding out that Lindsey's question was just idle chatter. "I'm ok for chatting, I guess."
“And you seemed a little bit tired," Lindsey added, “Maybe from the towers or the Owlery? The staircases are indeed a little bothersome. At least tiring for me.”
"Well, I was heading up to the Owlery actually - it's wonderfully cool up there. Although" - she snorted - "you do have to mind out for owl..." Here the girl stopped, searching for the right word. Poo? Droppings? Waste? Maybe those were a bit rude when meeting someone for the first time. "You know."
Lucia blushed for a moment and cast around for something she could change the subject with.
She found it in Lindsey's pocket.
"What was the instrument you were playing?" she asked. "It looked a bit like a flute - I think anyway - only flutes are made from metal, aren't they?"
Lucia was quite interested in the girl's answer - being a music lover herself (although definitely a vocalist - she didn't play any instruments other than her voice) she liked to know what people were using to make their sounds, even if often it was just someone singing. Muggle pop music had been a secret (ish) fascination of Lucia's for many years and at home she had always liked to tune her radio into muggle stations, just to see what was on.

Lucia asked what instrument Lindsey was playing.
“Ah yeah——it’s made of bamboo. A traditional Chinese instrument, that is. In Chinese, it’s called ‘竹笛’, which means bamboo flute.” Lindsey explained. “Good eye.”
Lucia seemed a music fan. Actually, Lindsey found that many Hogwarts students were into music. Like Nick, who would get up early in the morning and practice the piano.
Ah, speaking of music——she remembered the end of year party promised to her three fellow Huffles.
Lucia seemed nice and fun. Maybe she could help her to go through the party.
“Um, hey Lucia.” Lindsey said with a bit nervousness. “Speaking of music, I have got an idea of hosting an end of year party.”
“In the beginning of this term, I promised it to Alina, Alexa and Clifton——all our fellow badgers, maybe you know them? I think it would be fun!” she said. “As long as we don’t drink alcohol and smoke there.”
She smiled. What if they drink during the party? Then Headmaster Lear must be furious and gave all of them a detention.
“Maybe we could have a dancing, singing and music playing part, then a food part?” Lindsey inquired. She hadn’t been planning it so far, but all ideas seemed coming up in a moment.
“I mean, we could organize it together——it would be definitely interesting.”

Interacting with @Lindsey SpringhallOOC note: We haven't yet roleplayed out the mentioned midnight party“Ah yeah——it’s made of bamboo. A traditional Chinese instrument, that is. In Chinese, it’s called ‘竹笛’, which means bamboo flute. Good eye.” Lindsey said.
"Thanks,"
So it was a flute - but a Chinese one. That was interesting.
“Um, hey Lucia.” Lindsey said, sounding a bit nervous, “Speaking of music, I have got an idea of hosting an end of year party. In the beginning of this term, I promised it to Alina, Alexa and Clifton——all our fellow badgers, maybe you know them? I think it would be fun!"
Lucia's eyes lit up - she did love a good party, as long as there weren't too many people there of course - but then again, she didn't know if Lindsey was asking her to come or just mentioning it. The girl didn't seem to be the sort of person who bragged, but you could never be sure.
"Alina Rosier and her boyfriend? Yes, I know them. I don't know Alexa though."
"As long as we don't drink alcohol and smoke there," Lindsey added.
Lucia shook her head with a smile, remembering the one time she had tried alcohol. She had been ten, and Ebony was holding a party - Lucia couldn't remember what it had been for - when she offered her daughter a sip of wine to taste. She had laughed as said daughter spat it out in disgust and luckily Lucia had seen the joke.
Of course, none of the Foxes smoked (maybe apart from Lucia's father, but the girl neither knew more cared) since one dropped cigarette would set fire to all the books in the shop - so much paper to burn. And anyway, Lucia doubted that Ebony would allow her daughters to destroy their lungs even if she did want to smoke for some reason.
“Maybe we could have a dancing, singing and music playing part, then a food part? I mean, we could organize it together——it would be definitely interesting.”
Lucia smiled, thinking how similar it sounded to the midnight party she and Alina had planned nearer the start of the year. Dancing, singing, music and food. Presumably this party would take place in the daylight hours though.
"Are you asking if I'd like to come?" Lucia checked - it sounded like it but she was being cautious, just in case. "Because I'd love to,"

“Alina Rosier and her boyfriend? Yes, I know them. I don't know Alexa though.” Lucia said.
“Wait——so Alina and Clifton ARE boy and girlfriends now? I think they’re just crushing on each other when we were together.” Lindsey grinned. What an interesting news! She had been guessing the two’s relationship with Alexa since then——they seemed very close to each other.
“And, Alexa’s really nice too——you would like her.” She added.
“Are you asking if I'd like to come? Because I'd love to.”
“Yeah! And I’m happy that you like it!” Lindsey answered excitedly.
She’s very glad that Lucia liked the idea. Lindsey had to admit that she was a bit nervous about this——what if no one comes to the party? Although she would prefer to keep it a rather small one, a party with no participants isn’t a party, right?
“So I think June 27th would do.” she said enthusiastically. “A Saturday. Most people are out at that time.”
“And, maybe we could have a wishing & achievements wall? I guess nearly all of us have little dreams when we started the term, and we could write down that on the wall.” Lindsey suggested.
“I learnt this from a muggle primary school——my parents thought that muggles teach children better than wizards do, so you know.”
That muggle primary school was great, actually. Teachers were pretty friendly and they taught Lindsey so much things she couldn’t learn in the wizarding world. Like, an end of year party.

Interacting with @Lindsey SpringhallLucia widened her eyes. Was it a secret? She hoped that she hadn't accidentally betrayed her friend by telling someone else the nature of her relationship with Clifton. Oops.
"I love that idea!" she said enthusiastically, in response to Lindsey's suggestion of a wishing and achievements wall. What would she write on it? She hadn't really thought about her goals for the year when she stepped onto the Hogwarts Express back in September - such a long time ago, it seemed!
She fleetingly remembered Briar asking her excitedly if she could read her textbooks when she got back, and Ebony kissing her goodbye, and Willow running after the train and waving, and felt a strange wave of homesickness - but no matter. She would be with them soon, and the girl felt that she would feel homesickness wherever she might be - at Hogwarts for home, and at home for Hogwarts.
Lucia raised her eyebrows slightly at Lindsey's suggestion that muggles were better at teaching than wizards. How could they be, when they had no magic? Having grown up surrounded by it all her life, the girl couldn't imagine a teaching-place without the simple spells that Ebony used everywhere.
But she tugged her brows down again and said, curiously, "You went to a muggle school?"
