The Great Hall is a large room with four long tables where students of each House sit during the day and at mealtimes. A majestic enchanted ceiling that mirrors the outside weather is watching over people in the room.
When you just pass the door from the Entrance Hall, Gryffindor table is next to the far side of the Hall. You have to walk past all three other tables to get to sit with the Lions. Maybe you will be able to eat and if you're very lucky you might even catch a glimpse of Nearly Headless Nick.
This is an RPG topic where all students are welcome to post. All RPG rules apply. Word count per post is 200 words, not including quotes, OOC chat or other people's words. Any flood type of message will be deleted and a warning owl is sent.

Paul ran into the Great Hall to have dinner at around half past six. That was the usual time he was having it. Without much thought, the boy reached for some carrot and vegetables, and some stew. For drinks, some juice appeared in the goblet, and Paul didn't complain. It tasted good, like apples.Date: September 14th

All in all, it took him less than twenty minutes to eat his portion. Food had never had much significance for the boy. It was possible to say he was happy with anything, as long as it contained some vegetables and meat (and bread in the morning, of course).
The boy was eating pretty fast that day. He knew he had a meeting with a friend later on, to join him for his traditional evening run, so there was no time to spare. For the fact that he was going running, Paul got dressed into loose, grey shorts, a pair of new, green, waterproof trainers, a blue football jersey and a sweatshirt.
He honestly hoped it would rain outside, as he had his new pair of trainers on, whose quality he wanted to see.
Paul would look up from his meal every now and then, saying to people around him: "Hey... how is it goin? I'm Paul from Edinburgh. Where are ya from?'"

Lily had a meeting with a boy she had taken under her wing. He was a second year Gryfiindor and she had moderated his duel for him! And in that duel, he somehow got hit by a lightning strike from the powerful Meteolojinx spell. So she had kept her eye on him afterwards to make sure that dear strike hadn't caused any lingering problems. Tonight she was going for a run with him. They were supposed to meet outside at the grounds but she was hungry so she went into te Great Hall and saw him sitting there eating. So she sat down next to him and over heard him saying he was from Edinburgh. That caught her attention and as she grabbed some lasagna and shephards pie, she replied to his comment. "I didn't know you were from Scotland! I live in Altnharra myself with my family." Scotland was a beautiful place and where she was from it was up in the Highlands. She enjoyed living up there and enjoyed even more th native language of Gaelic. Colin and Liam had taught her how to speak it. It had taken her awhile but she managed to learn! And she did use it sometimes, but mostly when she was with her family.

Paul didn't see Lily coming, as she came from behind him. He only noticed her when she was sitting right next to him. His face shone with joy, as the boy was apparently glad to see her.
"Oh, hi there, las! Ready to run a Marathon?" Called the little Gryf in excitement, pushing his eyebrows up several times playfully. A surprised, wide-eyed expression followed, when Lily admitted she was from Scotland too. "Whoa, ya from Scotland too?! No way!" Just how lucky I am, getting a magical friend from the same part of UK?! "But... that means we can meet during summer holidays! You can come over to our place, I'll introduce you to my friends. You have to play football with us!" The plans just occurred in Paul's mind, as if the boy was earning money for them. His excited tone never left him though, till he realized it might be a little problematic.
"Wait, did ya say Highlands?" The boy's large smile fell and he sighed. "Dam' that's far..." He seemed worried, but only for a few secs.
Then, he got distracted by the fact that Lily could speak Gaelic. "Y-you can speak it? That's so cool! You have to teach me. I only know some swearwords. Like, amadan or tòin." The boy grinned. "We don't speak it at home. But I can dae the Scottish accent, if ye ever feel a wee bit heum-sick." With that, he winked at her with a smirk.
"Bon appétit, by the way." Did the boy say before she started eating. Then he cut another morsel, inserting it in his mouth. "Colin... that name sounds familiar. I think I've seen him around. But who's Liam, if you don't mind me asking?"

Lily smiled a bit as he started to talk about them meeting over the holidays. "You could totally come over to my place in the summer. It would be really cool to have you. We have a big family so one more wouldn't make a difference." Being born to Muggles, she was aware of what British football was. She had never played it though, never really watched it either. But at least, she knew what it was. And so she smiled and nodded. "I would love that someday!" Lily laughed kindly at his Scottish accent. It sounded amazing and she told him so! " You have an amazing Scottish accent. Sure I can teach you some Gaelic, though cuss words are also my specialty." She grins and takes bite of her food, cocking her head when he asks about Liam. "Liam is Colin's twin, as well as my other big brother. We have a huge family. Rigel McCoire is also my big brother. Then there's Ciaran McCoire, my little sister, and Lorcan McCoire, who passed away. A lot of siblings to keep track of." Lily laughed a bit, her mood slightly tempered now. Not fully, but a bit. She turned her attention back to her food.

xx 𝕷Another year, another breakfast in the Great Hall. Avery honestly loved her time spent in the Great Hall. It brought back so many memories of the past two years. Now being a third year, Avery was still enchanted. The classes, the professors, her fellow students, all of them played an important role. And everyone was so kind.
Normally, she would have crashed the Ravenclaw table and spent time with her boyfriend of nearly a year, Mikey, but he was nowhere to be found. Avery guessed he was probably doing something very Ravenclaw like reading or studying. The complete opposite of what she wanted to do. The lioness more than anything was itching to get back out on the Quidditch pitch and train with the team, but that had to wait. Breakfast first, then classes, then homework, then finally Quidditch. It would be difficult, but she would manage.
A quick glance around the room confirmed that she recognized no one sitting at the Gryffindor table that morning. That was fine with her. The lioness did prefer her solitary time as much as her social time. Though she would not be opposed to the company.
Though sitting alone had its downsides. All she could think about was her grandfather who had tragically died at the end of July. The only good thing that had come out of the situation was that Avery had finally gotten the chance to move back to her hometown. Swansea, Wales. Though that did not make it easy for the lioness. Walking the halls her grandfather once walked and feeling the ghost of his presence was hard. Harder than she had ever imagined.xx

Gryffindor what a stupid idiotic name that is. She still despises it. A whole year could go by and she will hate it. How odd it sounded to her by introducing herself as Willow Starch, Gryffindor. It sounded stupid, idiotic, unintelligent and foolish. She hates it. Hates it! But it isn't just that. The entire castle was tiring. The walking, although at every school you had to walk to class. But not every school was a giant castle with thousands of stairs that randomly moved you. Multiple times she's been late to class due to that, although not hurrying to class like all the other first years may play a factor into it. What else was tiring was the people. Especially the other first years. Perhaps it's that school just started and they all got sorted. Or perhaps Willow should shut her ears and stop listening to other people conversations. But lately all she has been hearing is how awesome their house is. How crazy was it that they actually spoke to that raggedy old hat. And how awesome their conversation was with that raggedy old hat. Her conversation with the hat wasn't 'awesome.' It was terrible. And not to mention, all it did was insult her and argue with her. She's not a sissy. Her anger doesn't come from hurt at all. She just inherited it from her Father! Right?
Groaning, she rolls over in her new bed. You gotta admit it, they are pretty comfy. Pressing her face into the pillow, she ignores the sounds of everyone else getting up. Once the room, quiets out, she finally drags herself out of bed. This is stupid, why can't we get up when we want to. Getting dressed, she pulls on her favorite pair of jeans (Hollister, boyfriend fit) and a shirt that shows only a sliver of her stomach. After pulling on her robe over it all, it makes everything else look hideous, she goes back to her bed to make it. A stupid habit she seems to not be able to break and the only thing her mother seemed to be proud of. Her father though never seems to recognize anything she does. She could become the world's first female president and he would say, "That's good, for a girl." And deep down she knows he doesn't mean that as a compliment. living in a house that's almost all boys, she knows he comparing her to them.
I should pretend i'm sick and not go to any of my classes Carefully laying down on her freshly made bed, she stays there for approximately five minutes before a familiar pain shots through her stomach. Hunger. Reminding her, demanding her for food. Biting down on her lip, she grumbles in annoyance and picks herself up. Stupid body and its bodily needs Smoothing out her bed, she trudges downstairs to the Great hall. Once she enters, she goes to the Gryffindor table and looks around. No one. Not one single person she recognizes. It would've been nice to be able to sit next to someone she met and did fight with. But instead, she chose her seat next to another girl.
Once seated, she looks for what she could eat that isn't poisoned. Fruit, a winner since it has been the only thing she has eaten since she arrived here. After putting a few pieces of fruit on, she spots toast. Should be safe right? She couldn't survive the day with just fruit. After a moment she realizes something. To actually get the toast and eat it, she'd have to speak to the girl next to her. Chewing on her lip, she makes her final decision when another sharp pain pierces through her stomach following with a grumble.
"Excuse me," The Devil Child said this softly, not sure if the girl heard her at all. Looking at her, she realizes she was in some sort of thought that brought sadness to her eyes. Freezing, Willow had no clue what to do. Ask her if she's fine? That would be the obvious choice but that lead to conversation and listening to someone's sob story of whatever. Or just ask what she originally was going to ask. The second one, definitely. Swallowing slightly, she raises her voice just enough to be heard clearly before continuing, "If you don't mind, could you pass a slice of toast. Just one please," then muttering under her breath, "no need to eat more and die from whatever is mixed in the food."
