Cookie Decorating Table

____If there's anybody walked together with Millie from her common room to the Great Hall, they would noticed how long the girl just stood up at the edge like a new sculpted statue when she witnessing such an odd view of Christmas in the bloody September. A dream? She wondered as she pulled out her notebook journal from her pocket, squinting at her handmade-written calendar in one of those pages. She's not mistaken. It's still September. So why they celebrated it too early? Even Halloween hasn't come yet until next month.
____In her bewilderment, Millie ran her eyes looking at the pine tree in one side, table of cards decorating in another side, and—her head immediately turned to the direction of the table full of cookies when her nostril caught a sweets whiff from there. The scent is too inviting the girl didn't even realize her feet had already led her way to the desired spot. As a gourmet as she is, she find this table is her heaven. Sneakily snatched one of the small sized cookie so nobody would noticed that one is missing, Millie hummed in appreciation at the same time her Prefect took the situation in one clear voice that in this station they will decorating cookies. As her senior said so, Millie realized there's also vary of icing, sugar, and much more sweets decoration beside the cookies itself. And there, not escaping her notice either, a hot cocoa! Such a delight! Millie quickly positioned herself behind the table.
____Upon looking at the cookies she wants to decorated, Millie frown her forehead deep like this decision-making is too crucial she would die if she chose the wrong one. Then realized she's not supposed to stand there for an hour long, she picked two gingerbread man and couples of tiny round cookies. It's just the beginning, sure, because another step is to choosing what and with what to decorated. Another moments to thinks ... yet fortunately, Millie grabbed what she wanted quickly than the previous choosing.
____Truth to be told, Millie only help her Ma doing kitchen things when she felt like to or the dish they wanted cook is her favorite. So in this matter, Millie felt relieved she doesn't need to bake the cookie from its fresh dough form. She also feeling grateful enough the only thing she need to do in this occasion is decorating the cookie, which she enjoyed it fully especially if it'll be ended into her own stomach.
____She begin from the tiny cookies as she planned to decorated it with colorful frosting. But she reflexively clicked her tongue once her hand almost grab whatever frosting nestled in front of her. Why so many colour to choose? Not wanted make it took much longer time, she then picked the white one (she hopes is vanilla flavor) as its base and added the red, green, and orange on top of it, forming a random line here and there. This one is a quite simple task so it didn't take her long to finished it.
____Moving on to the gingerbread man, she naturally wants to just makes more vibrant face on it or make them wore some nice sweater with another icing. However, she held that in mind as her eyes just noticing some interesting ingredient from the corner of her eyes. She quickly grabbed it and poured her sudden inspiration on the gingerbread man she was just decorating. Once she finished putting additional layer on the gingerbread man, she grinned because she was just create some stylish gingerbread man with a quiff white hair using a cream. While another one gingerbread man, although this one is bald with no hair, the girl still put some cream on it but on the top of its middle part body so it looks like a pot-belly gingerbread man now. Millie stifled her laugh, don't want to make anybody's intention turned to her just because of her hilarious choice of decorating her gingerbread man.
____Once her work here finished, Millie stepped forward while also bring the plate of her decorated cookies alongside her in one hand, swiftly to her Prefect who still holding a cocoa mug. Smiling sheepishly, Millie eyeing the drink while her tongue let out a plead, "May I have one, please?"

After finishing her cards Diana went over to the last station, the cookie decorating station. Diana had already made an ornament and she had just finished making her three cards, so cookie decorating was left. The smell of gingerbread had been drifting through the Great Hall since she'd arrived and now that she'd finished the other activities she decided she might as well see what all the fuss was about. She listened as Ebony explained the different cookies and frosting before looking over the station. There were snowflakes, gingerbread men, and several other shapes but Diana eventually chose a small gingerbread man.
She picked up a bag of blue frosting and carefully added a little shirt and some buttons to the gingerbread man before reaching for the silver frosting. A few small stars were added around the edges although one ended up slightly crooked. Diana stared at it for a moment before she decided that imperfections were probably the fun part. Rather than keeping the cookie to herself Diana knew exactly who should get it. Her roommate @Olivia Evans had already received a card so an edible Christmas surprise seemed fitting.
Once she was satisfied with her decoration Diana carefully set the cookie aside to let the frosting settle. She then accepted a warm mug of cocoa and took a small sip as she looked around the Great Hall. Between the snow, the trees, the ornaments, the cards, and now the cookies, the strange September Christmas celebration which marked 100 days until the holiday, was beginning to feel surprisingly festive.

Cookie Decorating Table
Aster's smile widened as she walked into the Great Hall. She loved Christmas, and despite it being over three months away, she couldn't wait to get in on the festivities. She stood still for a moment, taking everything in, then spotted a prefect wearing the familiar Ravenclaw blue overseeing a table full of cookies. Several students with colorful icing on their fingers and sprinkles on their robes leaned intently over their creations, carefully adding the details that would make the cookies come alive.
Aster approached the table and stared at the wide selection of cookies. She selected a medium-sized sugar cookie in the shape of a hat, and set about adding icing on top in a variety of colors. Blues, greens, and purples made up the base, and she did her best to add stars, swirls, and polka dots in yellows, reds, and oranges. Most of these ended up looking like blotches, but it gave a nice effect when she squinted.
She took another look around the table, spotting a variety of candies that she placed around the border to add some dimension to her cookie, before holding it up to admire it. It was a riot of colors, and Aster wondered for a moment if she ought to have toned it down a bit. Too late, and it would taste the same, anyways.
She bit into the cookie. It was soft and sweet and reminded her of home. The Hogwarts house-elves were truly the best.
She selected another cookie, this one a star. Hopefully she could share this one with one of her friends. Carefully, she used yellow and white to add a geometric design radiating from the center of the star, before adding orange to the middle to make it look like the star was on fire. After her practice with the first cookie, Aster's technique had improved, and the second turned out much neater. She finished it off with some sugar to make it sparkle, and wrapped it in a napkin to take with her. She thanked the Ravenclaw prefect for helping to organize the event and wandered off to the next table.

She was sure Lunette would mock the cookies, or at least make jokes about them, over the winter holiday. While the sisters didn’t necessarily get along all that well, Solène still deeply cared for her little sister, and right now she thought about her being alone in that big house with just their caretakers. Thus, the appeal of sending her cookies. She wanted it to be known that just because she had left for Hogwarts didn’t mean that her sister was forgotten or truly alone at the end of the day.
Sol took a long drink of her hot cocoa while looking back at her cookies with a shrug. “Well… It is what it is.”

Chatt giggled at the image. Likely forgetting who he was with. His hand slightly closed, faintly parted with his mouth. Unconsciously looking beside him, locking eyes with Clark for a brief second. He immediately straightened his posture. The irony of how he himself was frequently mistaken for a Gryffindor and had multiple connections within that house. He and Clark attended—as close as they were, like a trunk on a tree—and wanted to experiment with cookie decorating.
Greeted by Ebony, aha, Ebony.
Out of all the stations? He greeted her with posture. Of course, she was someone Chatt looked up to immensely. Being a (unknowledgeable) Quidditch Captain himself, how could he not? He placed his palm against Clark’s upper back. “Let’s go here.” Guiding him toward the cookie decorating table. “You have to have the potato, ok?” He quietly chuckled. He wanted Clark to have an experience with him. As much as he seems timid to see or to be seen, Chatt rather spends time with his quiet persona. A persona that gives a quiet refreshment from the other riot he had placed himself in.
Standing over the station, it entertained numerous students. Each excitedly covered their own cookie with sugar, spice, and everything nice. Chatt wanted to collect that excitement and reflect it in his own.
“Let’s make each other Clark.” Looking him up and down whilst lowering himself comfortably to sit. He could do this with magic, a wand and such. But he wanted the precision he could manually—and confidently control. His excitement that he couldn’t contain. He chuckled like how they first met.

Cookie Decorating Table
Cookies.
That was what Aaron was smelling when he entered the Great Hall on the 16th of September.
It had just been 16 days since the young Ravenclaw had come to Hogwarts and he had already experienced a lot, starting from the Hogwarts Ceremony, having an interesting conversation with his Head of House, and a very eventful evening outside the Ravenclaw Common Room where he and several other Ravenclaws were locked out for quite some time. None of this helped him be prepared for what he was facing in the Great Hall that day: Christmas.
As he soon learnt, today was exactly 100 days before Christmas, and in celebration of that, 3 prefects, namely Jrue Peterson, a second year Hufflepuff, Ebony Vetra, a sixth year Ravenclaw who was also the Quidditch Captain, and Skylar Blue, a second year Gryffindor, had all planned a celebration to enjoy the cheeriness of the holiday.
Following the sweet fragrance of the cookies, Aaron moved towards the Cookie Decorating table, one of the three tables arranged, and hoped to help increase, decorate or decrease (by eating) the cookies.
As he approached the table, he saw it was being handled by the Ravenclaw Prefect. She explained that they were all free to decorate the cookies however they wished to, showing an example of rather poorly drawn snowflake.
Aaron really wanted to eat them, they just looked delicious, but fought against the feeling not sure if they were allowed to eat them as of yet.
Thus, he began to decorate a cookie. He wasn't very good with drawing, so he wasn't expecting to draw fantastically on these cookies either. Aaron still tried his best. He started with the cookie closest to him and tried to draw a white-ish snowflake just like Sixth Year had shown them. While it was much basic in design, it came out a bit worse than what he was expecting.
Not giving up, he took another cookie, this time a gingerbread man one. "No harm in making a person of this." he thought, and did his best to find an inspiration for his gingerbread model.
That was when he spotted the Headmaster. For a moment the young boy thought it was Professor Lear himself, before realising it was a cardboard cutout of the Professor.
Taking inspiration from the cutout, Aaron tried to draw a gingerbread version of the Headmaster, but it didn't come out that great.
Not wanting to show it to others, and feeling hungry, Aaron quickly ate it, hoping no one saw him doing so.
Aaron thought it was time he gave the other tables a look and started heading off to the Ornaments table.

| xx | Amalie's pace slowed as she crossed the entrance of the Great Hall, her gaze travelling across the room as she attempted to make sense of what she was seeing. The place was decked with garlands, mistletoe, and holly. Heck, an entire Christmas tree stood proudly beneath the enchanted ceiling. Snow drifted lazily from above, disappearing before it could even reach the floor. The warm scent of gingerbread and cocoa lingered pleasantly in the air, wafting around and putting a smile on everyone's face. It was Christmas. In September. No, that didn't make sense. The young Slytherin stood still for a moment, looking up at the falling snow with an expression of mild confusion. It was September... wasn't it? Amalie knew perfectly well what month it was. Unless... unless she had somehow slept through weeks. The school year had just started — the workload couldn't have affected her enough to make her miss months passing. "Excuse me, can you move to the side, please, if you're just going to stand there and look baffled. We, other people, have places to be." Amalie shook herself out of her momentary daze and moved to the sidelines, mumbling an apology. She didn't fight the grin that escaped as her eyes eventually settled upon the cardboard cutout of Headmaster Lear. Amusing as it was, it didn't make the situation any less confusing. Unless time had warped, or some other weird occurrence, today was the 16th of September and there was... exactly a hundred more days for Christmas, she thought, doing the math in her head quickly. Oh right, a hundred days. This was probably an elaborate attempt to encourage anticipation for the festive season. If so, it was certainly effective. Following the general hubbub of students towards the various stations, Amalie made her way to the large table copiously littered with cookies of various sizes, shapes, and flavours. Overlooking the table and the students at work was... Ebony?! The second year knew she would never forget the horrifying scene when the much older Ravenclaw had been a beater at an unofficial Quidditch match she had partaken in last year, and somehow managed to Bludger the opposing team's captain unconscious in the opening minutes of the game. Apparently Ebony was a Prefect now... oh well, good for her. Amalie thought about going up to the girl and congratulating her, but then decided against it, postponing the felicitations for later. Now was the time for cookies, not congrats. Sorting through the array of choices, Amalie's attention was immediately drawn to the snowflake-shaped ones — there was something oddly satisfying about their symmetrical shapes. She grabbed five of the snowflake-shaped cookies and a couple of piping bags that contained white and blue frosting. Just as she was about to take a seat, she noticed Ebony handing out mugs of cocoa. She walked up to the Sixth Year and accepted a mug, mumbling thanks with her eyes downcast, hoping she wouldn't be recognised. Whew, it had worked. Armed with the cookies, frosting, and a mug of cocoa, Amalie took a seat to start work. She had helped her papa bake cookies at the bakery, but had never tried her hand at decorating them. Well, there's always a first time for everything. There was undoubtedly a way to do all of this with magic, but hey, where was the fun in that? She took the piping bag filled with white frosting and spread a thin layer over the surface of a cookie. Now, that didn't turn out too bad. She proceeded to gingerly draw three lines crisscrossing each other, resembling the ones that appeared in classic illustrations and depictions of a snowflake. She knew that every single snowflake had a unique pattern, and no two of them were ever alike. But for now, she would stick to the conventional depiction. As she was adding the finishing touches to her first cookie, her hand smudged the nervously drawn strokes of frosting over the white base. Amalie willed herself not to crash out and give up, deciding she would eat this one herself. She took a deep breath and started on the next cookie, giving this one a pale blue base. Then she went on with the same process of drawing the markings of the snowflake in white frosting, mentally crossing her fingers that she wouldn't mess up this one too. The first line emerged slightly thicker than intended. She paused and looked at it. Then continued. There was little point in attempting to undo it now. She outlined the edges of the cookie, following each little point with as much precision as could be reasonably expected from frosting. She sighed in relief as it came out like she had expected, albeit a little wonky. Before she started on her third cookie, she got up and went back to the table to grab a darker shade of blue frosting. For this one, she planned to use the pale blue frosting as a base and use both the white and dark blue frostings to draw the pattern and outline of the snowflake. Thankfully, this one had come out as she imagined. She sipped from her mug of cocoa; the drink was warm and sweet, and made for nice company. She decorated the last two cookies following the same pattern and colour theme as she had for the second and third ones. Amalie set her last cookie down, and regarded them all from a distance. They were quite simple, and some of the strokes were rather uneven. But there was nothing she could do about that — except start over, and she certainly was not going to do that. Besides, perfection was perhaps an unreasonable expectation for frosted cookies. She finished her cocoa, and nibbled on the first cookie, the one she had ruined by smudging the frosting. Regardless of its appearance, the cookie was quite delicious and rather filling. When she was done, she gathered her remaining four cookies and stood up. Making a last-minute call, she walked up to Ebony. "Excuse me, sorry to disturb you," she apologised timidly. "I'm not sure if you remember me, but I'm Amalie, Amalie Leclerc. We played on the same team in Denise's unofficial quidditch match last year," she said, speaking in a rush. "Anyways, I just wanted to give you this. Oh, and congratulations on being appointed prefect!" She flashed a smile at the older girl, gave her the last cookie she had decorated (because it was the one that looked the least lopsided) and hurriedly walked away, clutching the remaining cookies. She hoped Ebony would like it. It was hardly the finest cookie on the table, but it was made with good intentions, and surely that counted for something. Actually, it was better if Ebony just forgot about the cookie and one-sided interaction… She walked around looking at the other cookies being decorated, cards being exchanged, and the pretty ornaments that were being hung on the huge Christmas tree. She felt a pang of self-consciousness upon seeing the other beautifully decorated cookies, but soon shook the feeling away. She had tried her best, and her papa always told her that was what mattered. A small smile found its way onto her face as she glanced down at the three cookies she still held. Now came the important question of which three of her friends would be unfortunate enough to claim the remaining cookies. | xx |

Cookie Decorating Table
After Card Making with Jrue Peterson, I headed over to the Cookie Decorating table, where Ebony Vetra was sitting. In front of her there were plates filled with cookies to the point of tumbling off the tray. I grabbed a pink cookie and bit into it. A warm sensation filled my mouth. It was my favourite: Cotton Candy!
I realized that now there was not enough of the pale pink cookie to continue decorating it, so I finished eating it and grabbed a new one, a pale yellow one. I iced it entirely white, then added a black outline of a badger. I wanted very much to give it to my Mum, but I knew it would never last the journey back to Bristol.
Shrugging, I gobbled the yellow, badger decorated biscuit, sighing with delight as I realised the flavour. Lemon Meringue! A chocolatey scent filled the air around me. Mugs of fresh hot cocoa had appeared in the centre of the table; at least four marshmallows were in each cup! I reached out for the nearest one. The effect was instantaneous; my entire body felt as though the hot cocoa was giving it a warm hug.
After finishing my hot cocoa and the Lemon Meringue cookie, I left the Cookie Decorating area and headed for the Ornament section. If the Card Making and the Cookie Decorating were this fun, how cool would the Ornaments be?
