The staff team for Hogwarts.io has many roles that helps the site function in the most efficient way possible. The team is extensive and is not only composed of a few people, it is made of a lot of different people with different backgrounds. We operate both on the site and on external platforms such as the official Hogwarts.io Discord server. However, the team is always changing and we are always adding and moving staff members around as people step away for various reasons.
The site is always under construction, so we are here to ensure that rules and important information are in place for years to come. Moderation is done by the whole team, this is to protect our younger users and to maintain a defined set of standards for the community as a whole.

Staff Applications
Information Regarding What We Look for in staff
1. Activity. We are looking for active members. Activity is defined as more than posting daily in out of character forums, or roleplaying so this is hard to define in binary terms. A user that has 300 posts in the past week with 298 of these posts being in OC Chat or forum games is active but so isn't the user with 15 roleplay posts in the past month. We look back to see if a user has been active by looking at their post history. If you came back recently from a lengthy hiatus, you may want to consider waiting a few months before you apply to a role to demonstrate that you are active.
2. Discord. We are looking for players that are accessible. This means, we are really looking for an applicant that is not only on discord but actually uses discord. Discord is our primary means of communication as a team and part of our moderation responsibility is managing the discord.
3. Play Nice. We are looking for players that are not [a bad word]. If you have a history of poop-talking other members, bullying users or staff, or attempt to troll the discord or site, you are more likely to face disciplinary measures than be offered a staff position.
4. Age. We are looking for players that are mature. While this can be interpreted as 18+, we have on rare occasion considered users that are under 18 that have demonstrated great mental maturity. However, this is uncommon and we have to weigh the concern we have for discussion topics and the media we sometimes face unfiltered. Some roles are more 'front end' than other roles and therefore have a greater risk of exposure, so while mental maturity might be there, we have to consider biological maturity for obvious reasons.
5. Experience. Experience can be gained a number of ways. While Experience is not required for a staff role, again it places a great deal of weight on the applications we find experience in. Mentors and sport captains are a common way to get experience.
6. Reliability. This is showing that you can keep deadlines and work with a team. Sports and assisting in balls are ways that users have historically stood out because they need to post on time, have deadlines to meet and have to work with others.
7. Understanding the Site Rules. We look back and keep records of previous edit requests and rule infractions. Being ask to meet the 200 word count for instance is a common new-player issue and for extremely new roleplayers godmodding and metagaming. These infractions do not make a player a bad one, but they do indicate a lack of understanding. Often we check and ensure that there has not been any recent rule breaks. By continuing to roleplay and demonstrating (by not having new infractions) we can be assured that you are capable of upholding the rules with other users.
8. Tenure. While an applicant does not become automatically considered because they have been on site for 6 years and another overlooked because they have only been on the site for 6 months, tenure is a consideration. Often very new members need to show us who they are for a few months before they are considered for staff.
9. Application. Please remember that your application is your greatest advocate, your most vocal advertiser. If you place the minimum effort into your application, this demonstrates the effort and passion you have for the role. It also fails to give the voting staff an adequate picture of who you are as a potential peer and mod.
You will notice that hard numbers are not in place, this is because we have considered very new members (under 6 months) for staff without a history as a captain or mentor and we have knowingly admitted members to staff that are as young as 15. These are very rare instances and do not reflect community norms. To date we have not admitted a staff person that does not use Discord.

iNPC Staff Wanted - Ilvermorny Headmaster
@Arkady Piecyk, played by @Valour Argentum and @Logan Peralta Acosta (iNPC), has announced their intention to step down from their role as Headmaster of Ilvermorny. As such, we are looking for a new member of the iNPC Team.
The iNPC Staff team is a team of 8 users who are designed to process iNPC applications, moderate their school forum, and join one other staff subteam (usually validations). Validations is the process by which staff reviews new player accounts, ensures that they meet the basic admission criteria and allow the new player to join the site. This role is equal to Professors, Prefects and Assistants in rank, answering to the site admin team (Hogwarts Head of Houses and Hogwarts Headmaster).
We are looking for an active individual who is prepared to tackle the above responsibilities. Having a good relationship with our user base and staff is something we also look for. Use your application to sell yourself as the best candidate! We are mostly interested in what you can bring to the team and your ideas for the role of iNPC Staff, not what sort of character you plan on roleplaying. The more details you give, the better.

WANTED: Slytherin Prefect
@Milica Vranekova has announced her intention to step down from her role as Prefect of Slytherin. Milica has been in this role for 9 months and she has made a positive impact on the staff team. We are sorry to see her go but she has other obligations that require her time and energy. WANTED: CARETAKER
We are sad to announce that our Caretaker, @Mahdi Hassan, is stepping down. Their real life has gotten busy and it's time for them to focus on that. We are sad to see them go.
This does mean that we are now looking for a new Caretaker, which is an assistant role. The Caretaker's main duties include moderation of the Caretaker's Office and Room of Requirement to ensure rules are being followed, the grading of Charms and Flying homework, assisting with the Validation of new accounts, and running the first-year boat ride and facilitating detentions when necessary.
