Hi! I'm terrible at coding and wonder if someone can point me in the right direction. I use a lot of foreign words and regional slang in my RP posts so I have taken to inserting a glossary at the bottom of each post and I am planning to do a master glossary in my encyclopedia. I was hoping for a simple code for hanging indents, so I can do a word followed by the definition and if the definition takes multiple lines that it will automatically indent on the second line. I've tried searching but haven't found an easy way to code it. I tried using a table in the example on the bottom of this post, and while I think it looks decent it took freaking forever and it was pretty much just trial and error adding and deleting transparent symbols until I finally got the words and definitions to line up correctly. I can cut and paste the code from this post the next time I need it, but since the length of the words and definitions change for each post the filler bits will also have to be fiddled with over and over. I can't imagine going through all that for every single post that needs a glossary.

Please tell me there is an easier way. I'd be very grateful.

Hmmm...well, it's a bit plain, I would suggest adding maybe like a more interesting shape of gem stone and maybe change the font color and font a bit but it's just my pref. Maybe slightly edit the photos to match what you want for the shop maybe make the shapes a bit less ridged

hey hey Kennedy !! I would suggest using inlineocode (below in case you didn’t know how to do it ) and instead of tables, you might find a better and smoother use and look of image float. It looks better for mobile and it sometimes looks prettier. I would also use a font that is readable, from a copy and paste website and use a font image site for your headers, like Rose Quartz in a font from here (Font Space is used by users for headers/IC signatures/codes so you might find a use for it!). I might have the image float by the title and then have the “Simple Banner | Examples | 00Sickles” centred. Probably the reason you think it’s a bit plain might be because there is a bit of a blank spot between your text and image. If you use image float then there might not be that much of creative space. Icons and colours would work very well too within the code. And, also I honestly cannot stress this enough, please look at other’s users’ codes for inspiration !!! They are who gave me inspo for creating my own codes. Literally browse the OOC shop forum for a little bit and see what’s sparks inspiration. Pinterest can help you as well with elements for your banners and shop code!

Image float example (Like you requested, I won’t take your code and help you, I’ll just show you a example because I’m a poor describer and sometimes people (like me!) need a visual). The without table one would look awesome with your gem shop code, methinks. But, naturally, it’s your code and I’m here to provide advice, so whatever you choose to do will be amazing!

I think I get it! So, your solution is to break up multi-line definitions in column two and insert an extra row in the table to handle them. That would reduce all the fussing of making the one word in the first column balance with a paragaph in the second column. The tables are totally new to me so that your solution didn't occur to me and I'm sure it would never have occurred to me even if I went through the motions a hundred times.

Just to make sure the code is understood clearly:

This table has 2 rows and 2 columns in each row, basically making it a 2x2.

The spacing between the two columns is consistent between as many rows as you wish. In this case, the margin between additional info/ definition and left edge is going to be the same regardless of the word.

Now, by having the lower left part of the table contain a [color=transparent]x[/color], there is something in the column so it doesn’t get ignored without affecting how the actual formatting looks like. It’s mostly a filler text here.

The two rows make the need for meticulous spacing for the definition and word to line up unnecessary!

You know what I'd do? I'd make the headings the same color, it looks very nice, but with colors more easy to differentiate would look nicer
