Welcome, Traveler of the Stars and Earth,

If this letter has found its way into your hands then your journey has led you exactly where it was meant to and the cosmos has aligned. You are standing within Sylva Astralis - the Forest of the Stars - a sanctuary for the observant, a refuge for the curious, and a home for those who find wonder in both the heavens above and the living world below.

It is within these walls that you'll discover that every mystery begins with a single thought.

Look up, traveler. You'll find enchanted constellations stretching endlessly overheard. Look around, traveler, and you'll see towering shelves that hold tales of magical flora, forgotten explorers, remarkable discovers, and the wonders of space. Look closer still, traveler, and you'll notice small details that cause you to pause and watch the world. Observe, traveler.

Sylva Astralis is your place this summer in the Universe, located within the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Enjoy it. Cherish it. Your time here is limited. See the wonders around you.

Whether your heart belongs to forest or galaxies, wildflowers of nebulae, remember that they have never truly been separate. Every tree reaches toward the stars. Every star shines upon the forest.

We hope that by the time you leave Sylva Astralis, you gain a renewed sense of wonder.

Settling in. Open to interaction with any/all cabin members!

The journey to Hogwarts had been perfectly fine so Miles couldn't quite understand why it seemed that something about being here made him feel restless. Maybe it was the differences between Ilvermorny and Hogwarts but something told him that wasn't it.

He glanced over his shoulder as he followed the other international students to their cabin selections. Far behind where he could see now, he knew it was still there - The Forbidden Forest. He had noticed it immediately upon arriving at Hogwarts and evn as he took step after step away from it there seemed to be something about the forest that drew his attention. It wasn't a sound, nor anything he could see, but a persistent sensation; a pull.

Which was ridiculous. Miles had spent his entire childhood and beyond around magical creatures and wild places. With his parents being famous magizoologists, Miles knew nature well. He admired it and he respected it.

But there was something different about those woods.

Miles pushed the thought aside as he stepped into Sylva Astralis and that pull was silenced for a moment as he was left in awe. The enchanted constellation that stretched across the ceiling brought a smile across his lips. He followed it, over, across, and then finally downward to shelves that held books on magical flora, creatures, explorers - almost any subject imaginable.

Stephen was going to love this place, he thought, with all the blues and purples and sights of the heavens of outer space.

Then he took a slight tour of the cabin, letting himself take a moment in each space before passing to the next until he finally decided he would claim his sleeping quarter. After making his choice, he marked it by placing his trunk down at the foot of one of the beds.

Miles opened it, his robes on top folded went into a drawer nearby and he brought out his leather satchel, filled with battered field journals full of sketches and observations. But what he really wanted from the trunk was a small potted plant that he placed near the window, positioning it just right so it could catch the light. "There," he said, deciding that was not only the perfect addition to the space but the perfect space for the addition.

He knew others would be along shortly so he headed back to the common area. He scanned the bookshelves, selecting a volume on magical plants and settled into a nearby chair, opening the book across his knees.

At first he wondered who else might be in his cabin or when Stephen might be coming, but within minutes he found himself lost in the pages.

Then he found himself glancing out to the window, looking toward the forest. That feeling was still there. Perhaps he should investigate.

Miles shook his head and returned his attention to the book but his entire focus wasn't there. When would another camper happen to wander in and would any of them be from Hogwarts and maybe know anything about the Forbidden Forest?

"Oh, you didn't know? They open the library for 5th and 7th year students to get a head start on their OWLs and NEWTs. So, if you want to take full advantage of it, and we know you want this, you should attend the camp." His father had told him and Edward either totally missed the sarcasm in his father's voice or his dad was just very good at lying. Probably the latter, as his parents had also completely kept magic from him until his first instance of magic.

Of course, the school was closed like every year in summer and Edward was not going to study during camp but now had to participate. "Why can't I just come back with you, dad? Holidays are the only time I can spend with Leah and she was so sad to see me go again." he had asked and noticed the flicker of resignation on his father's face but then his dad smirked. "Nice try, Edward. Now you are here, we can not just go back again. I mean, I will go back but you stay. You'll see her for Christmas and it would be even harder to part if you stayed another month. I know you love her and she adores you, so that won't change if you're not around. You need to also socialise with peers and what better place for that than summer camp?" Vincent Foxe smiled encouragingly. "So you made up that story about getting a head start st OWLs jutst to get me here and socialise." Edward replied, annoyed, and his father shrugged. "You don't need more studying. We know you'll do well at your exams. They are also only in a Year, so until then have some fun, meet some people, make some actual memories you can excitedly tell us about. I love you Ed." His father hugged him, said goodbye and left.

So, Edward was grumpy as he entered the cabin. He had enjoyed being home and around Leah, his little sister, and actually did not want to attend the summer camp. He still could not understand how he got himself tricked into believing he could spend some time during camp in the Hogwarts library but his parents had seemed very convincing.

At least the advertisement for the cabin of the theme "Department of Mysteries" sounded as if it suited him: "quiet, enchanted library", "endless bookshelves" and a "curtain students may pull around their bed at night to drown out any noise" we're the keywords that got him to choose this theme. The letter he got, however, reminded him a bit of the fluff of divination.

But as he entered the cabin at least this advertisement did not disappoint him. Indeed, there were many books inside the cabin. He was hoping to find books related to his school subjects there. Of course he also brought all his textbooks, so at least he could review these things if the books here did not prove useful.

As he scanned the room, he noticed a plant that to him looked strangely out of place here and then he noticed another person already in the cabin, reading a book about plants. 'Maybe that plant is his.' Edward thought and did not want to disturb the boy, so he would walk towards the bedrooms to find an empty one and put down his things (OOC note: unless @Miles Thatcher is greeting him, then I'd react and not disappear.

I walk alongside my brother, Artemas. My heart beats faster and faster as I get closer to the cabin door. Artemas is carrying my stuff, He keeps saying it's too heavy for me to carry every time I try to take it off him. The huge wooden door loom over me, I hug my brother tightly, I'm excited to be away from my family for awhile but my brother is someone I'll always miss him. I grab my suitcases from his hands, my legs are shaking with fear and excitement, I take one step and another and another until I'm almost running, I open the cabin doors and gasp.

It's beautiful. The ceiling looks like the Milky Way, and there are rows and rows of bookcases filled with the most amazing books I've ever seen. My eyes dart around the room, and I feel like my head is spinning. That's when my eyes landed on a boy. He's sitting on the window sill, book in right hand and a drink in the other. He looks older than me, probably a seventh year, I would say. I look at the beds around me, I don't know where I should set my stuff down or what bed to take. I take a deep breath and walk over to the boy. "Hi, My name is Aurelia, I'm the new first year. What's your name?"

Stephen deliberately lagged behind. He was torn about being here. At Hogwarts. It was EmmaLee's school. Or maybe had been? He didn't know any longer because they had fallen out of touch.

He expelled a ragged sigh as he approached the sign-in area. He had made the trip over with Cursa because he needed the distraction. And Cursa was quite the distraction. Traveling with Miles would have had him tied up in all kinds of knots, and what good would that do him anyway? Struggling to untangle his feelings of guilt about EmmaLee from his burgeoning "whatever he and Miles had going on" was too much to think about before leaving the States. Had he done so, he may have begged off altogether and that would have been unacceptable. All he needed was the distraction to get here, and once here, he could deal with whatever else came his way after arriving. Compartmentalizing was still a specialty, so there was that.

Or so he thought.

His eyes scanned the sign-in sheet, looking for two names. He saw only one, and his heart somersaulted in his chest. Then a smile pushed the nervousness away as he looked at the name of the cabin Miles had signed himself into โ€” Sylva Astralis. His nervousness was replaced with the anticipation of seeing his... his... his what? His best friend, of course. That label energized his thoughts in a new direction. Yes. That was it. His best friend.

And Miles was his best friend. And he had missed him in the month since classes ended at Ilvermorny, but.... But they were also more than friends. And he knew he'd been acting weird worrying about the possibility of seeing EmmaLee and he couldn't โ€” wouldn't โ€” let that interfere with what amounted to a month of free time with Miles.

He hurriedly scratched his name down for the Sylva Astralis cabin and headed off in that direction. As he approached, he saw a boy and then a younger female student enter the cabin. Stephen breathed another sigh of relief. For a while at Beauxbatons he and Miles thought they were never going to have cabin mates, and that was okay back then, but it would have been awkward now.

He picked up his pace, deftly hopping, or sometimes long-stepping, over a number of muddy puddles from a recent rain. He might be excited to see Miles, but his neatnik self would not allow that to happen with untidy shoes. Standards and all that jazz.

"... is Aurelia. I'm the new first year. What's your name?" Stephen stepped in behind her, and based on where her voice was coming from, he figured she was not too far from the entrance. He stopped abruptly where he was, his frame now blocking the entryway and most of the filtered light that had been streaming in. "Oh, please pardon me," he said to her as his eyes were still adjusting to entering a darkened cabin. Careful as he had tried to be, he still managed to bang into her with his telescope bag. "I am so sorry. I hope I didn't hurt you, Aurelia. I'm Stephen, by the way, a sixth-year from Ilvermorny. I heard you introduce yourself as I was coming in."

As he finished his sentence, he was relieved his eyes had adjusted to the darkness. He took note of the boy who had entered before Aurelia, and he nodded and waved in his direction, smiling affably.

And then he saw Miles, sitting in a chair, engrossed in a book. Stephen stared for a few moments, mildly aware that his Adam's apple was bobbing repeatedly as he swallowed. His mouth had suddenly gone completely dry, and greeting Miles with some thick-tongued, unintelligible words was not high on his list of To Dos in that moment.

He hadn't even taken in the theme of the cabin yet. He was already looking at the best thing in it, and he knew it.

My legs are shaking, and my eyes start to dart; I feel terrified. The boy's eyes are on me, looking me up and down, trying to figure me out. I swallow hard; I look away, hoping that my nervousness doesn't show on my face. But I then remember my brother's words on the ride here, "It will be ok, just be yourself, and you'll make loads of friends." I close my eyes and take a few deep breaths in and out. I squeeze my fist tight, nails digging into my skin and turn my head back to the boy reading. I smile at him; that's when I feel somebody bump into me.

My body moves forward slightly from the impact; I turn around quickly to see who it was. A boy holding a telescope bag, which apparently had made its way into my back, stood there looking quite sorry. He looked at me and said, "I am so sorry. I hope I didn't hurt you, Aurelia. I'm Stephen, by the way, a sixth-year from Ilvermorny. I heard you introduce yourself as I was coming in." I look him up and down, then smile.
"Oh, I'm perfectly alright, thank you. It's very nice to meet you, Stephen. I hope we will have a nice time here together. So why did you choose this cabin to stay in?"

In the cabin with @Edward Foxe, @Aurelia Moone, and @Stephen Schwartz

Miles heard the cabin door open and glanced up from his book.

He glanced up just over the top of it long enough to see a boy step inside. Miles didn't recognize him, but that wasn't particularly surprising since this summer camp was comprised of students from every wizarding school in the world. He was sure to expect more unfamiliar faces wandering the campground than familiar ones.

The boy didn't seem particularly interested in introductions either and continued by. He didn't seem to want to make new friends, at least not at the moment and Miles decided not to bother him.

He had always been fairly good at that sort of thing - the "live and let live" mentality. If someone wanted company, they would seek it out. If they wanted to be left alone then Miles was perfectly capable of leaving them alone. It wasn't his job to fix other people; not that he would have known hwo to fix anyone even if he wanted to.

When the cabin was quiet again, Miles heard some of the outside voices drifting through an open window. Sometimes he could hear laughter or the occassional shout, sometimes in English, sometimes not.

Miles focused back onto the boo, and turned another page. The boy that had entered the cabin previously hadn't made his appearance again in the common area and Miles read on. Another couple pages in, the cabin door opened again.

This time there was a girl's voice. Miles began to finish the paragraph he was on, with all intentions on answering the question she had asked about his name. But he had barely gotten a few more sentences in when he heard another voice.

Miles knew that voice. He froze. "Please pardon me."

He slowly lowered his book and his eyes fell immediately upon Stephen. He lifted an eyebrow slightly. Why did he choose this cabin?

The book was still in his hands, as if to say he was still interested in what it had to say but there was information he was far more interested in at the moment. Inquiring minds wanted to know.

Bedroom
Since Edward had not been stopped, he found himself in a quiet and so far empty bedroom. He occupied one of the two beds and unpacked a few of his belongings, mostly some books placed neatly on the bedside table. He felt the tranquility of the room transfering to himself and took a few deep breaths. As he took up his astronomy textbook and began reading, his mood improved but at the same time some thoughts kept him from fully concentrating. As his anger disappeared, he felt that his entrance to the cabin and the ignorance of the boy who was there had probably been a bit rude. Maybe his dad was right and Edward should take the chance again to make some acqaintances. He had been trying to do so since first year but nothing had really stuck. The quidditch and dueling practice and matches got him into contact with some fellow ravenclaws but outside of the matches, they also did not have much contact. And over the years, Edward had just become used to being rather on his own. Since he wasn't bullied anymore like in the muggle primary school, he didn't even mind. It was peaceful and he could follow his love of learning, never had to really adjust himself to other people. The entrance of his sister into his life changed that and for her, he felt it was alright to adjust himself. He shut his book and hesitantly got back out of the bedroom and into the common room again.

Common room
When he entered the common room again, he noticed that more students had arrived in the Cabin. Edward saw a young girl with blonde hair, potentially a first year or at most second year, and another boy who could be roughly Ed's age or a bit older. The boy who had been reading when Edward entered the cabin, had lowered his book. Thus, as Edward was probably not disturbing him anymore while in the middle of reading, he first addressed him: "Hey, .. I didn't want to disturb your reading earlier, uhm, but maybe it was a bit rude to just pass by without any remark. Sorry about that." He felt a bit awkward now but now it was too late to go back, so to get over with his introduction, he rather tried to address this to the whole room, so he did not have to repeat it for everyone: "Hi everyone, I am Edward, Edward Foxe, .. or Ed if you like." He waved a bit awkwardly and added: "Nice to meet you." Because after his weird wave he didn't know where to put his hands, he sat down in one of the large couches and put his hands just in his lap.

Being sent to Summer Camp without her sister was probably something she wouldnโ€™t have consented to if she had less weight on her shoulders. Truly, the young Greek felt forcibly cut off from her sister, now that the ten year old would start her foundation year at Durmstrang. Durmstrang. Truly, she had nothing against the school. Yet it felt almost like ridicule that the dreams of their shared room and late night talks would never come true. It would have made her last three years at Hogwarts, her exam years and the first introduction to adulthood, more bearable. At the same time, her sisterโ€™s assimilation would be easier, having a sister who knew people and castle secrets by her side.

Yet theyโ€™d be at separate academic institutions. Meant for their safety, of course, so that they wouldnโ€™t be at the same place and draw attention, should someone try to hurt them. But it felt like a degree of falsity was there in the statement. Eugenia knew that deep down, it was for their networking as well. They could reach out to more people, build stronger connections and perhaps have loyal allies. Her mothers relished her days back at the Institute and claimed it was a place where they truly prepared you for society. Eugenia herself, having heard tales of the Horntails at the Hexwizard and knowing Valentin and Nikolai, knew very well that if you found the good sort, you could easily not only survive, but excel.

Was it selfish of her to want her sister by her side? She hadnโ€™t even been allowed to come to summer camp. Eugenia would be all alone, off to her second summer camp. This time at the death academy itself. Dear her, this truly sucked.

Yet as she arrived at Hogwarts, and got handed the leaflets with the information on the cabins, she couldnโ€™t help but smile. The Ministry of Magic themed summer camp. On one hand, it could easily be propagandising children into joining the institution. On the other hand, it would provide some certainly very interesting activities. She was between the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, where had father worked, with its orderly yet cosy fashion, and the Department of Mysteries, a place of giant libraries, mystique, private rooms and the cosmos.

She eventually chose the sanctuary of the stars. And she was now sure it was the right option, as she needed the solace this theme provided. The travel to Hogwarts was exhausting, and she really needed some time to relax. August would be a long month, in her eyes. Yet, she could cast and enjoy herself at a place where her qualities that once marked her as a Hufflepuff could now go amiss. It was a flawed logic, she knew, but the freedom was happily accepted.

Arriving at Sylvia Astralis, carrying her trunk in one hand, her Silver Arrow in the other and her enchanted satchel on her shoulder, it was a surprise to her that the walk wasnโ€™t as tiring as she expected. When her kitty, Isolts, arrived behind her, she turned her head forward and opened the door with her foot. Mentally registering that the cabinโ€™s name was Forest of the Stars, she entered.

The dark interior was wholly welcome, her eyes starting to see green from the sweltering heat. It felt cool and fresh, in a way she couldnโ€™t describe. And the permission to seek solace whenever you needed was something she was desperately searching for, especially as she needed to mentally recalibrate every thought she had about her future. She had brought books too, but between this cabinโ€™s library and the schoolโ€™s library, where she had found countless books in the past years, as well as muggle literature, Eugenia was overjoyed. Her face however didn't show much feeling.

Entering the cabin, her face was a mask of politeness, with a hint of genuine happiness. The heiress was truly astounded no memories had suffocated her yet, and refused to think about it, lest she triggered a reaction herself. She might have seemed like an ordinary pureblood in the moment, but for the curious nature her eyes surveyed the room. A mind calculating where the exits could be, and also where the best spots could be, a pair of eyes calm, cunning, yet curious. She needed to keep her mask on at all times, for a slip up here was a possible risk. She recognised some of the names on the door nameplate, some from inter school quidditch she had spectated, some from their surname, and some were beyond her knowledge beyond name and affiliations. She smiled softly.

โ€œGreetings. My name is Eugenia Smyrnidi and I will be starting my fourth year in Hogwarts this September. Pleased to meet you all.โ€ Her tone was a mix between casual and polite, yet soft, as she was nervous. What if they knew? Knew she was only a filthy wizard born, not worth it. She was a liar, a-

Eugenia stopped herself before she got too consumed by it. She had things to do, and she needed to do them now. Unless she was stopped, the Greek made a temporary exit from the common area and tried to find a sleeping quarter. It wasnโ€™t that hard, the boys had chosen rooms and the little first year still held her things. Thus, it seemed that entering one of the empty two person rooms was the best choice. She carefully set her trunk at the foot of her bed, hanging the Silver Arrow on the wall and hell on to her Satchel from the handle.

Here, Eugenia hoped she could dorm with Brookline, the only name she recognised well. They were in the same year, both purebloods. A thought threatened to consume her momentarily. She wasnโ€™t, she wasnโ€™t really she was a fraud. She stumbled, unseen, and regained her composure. Exiting the room, she returned to the common area and waited until someone else came or they talked to her. It was her time to observe them.
