AULIS VOROZHEYKIN.
KOLDOVSTORETZ. DIRECTOR OF STUDIES.
Russian. | English.
Spoken. | Thought.
Aulis had arrived at Hogwarts for this year's spring ball, accompanying only a small handful of his students as per the usual, with more than one goal in mind rather than the normal singular version of returning with all of the children alive. Naturally, that one was still at the forefront of his mind, but following the success of the International Magical Olympic Games at his own school just two months prior, Aulis was more certain than ever he could keep his students safe. After all, he had managed to minimise the injuries at Koldovstoretz to exclusively sports-related ones, and that was for his school and the visitors from other academies; what was to say he would have any difficulty from here on out with that same goal? The correct choice for Headmaster, indeed.
With this newfound sense of security also came a boasting braggartishness, as well, that his international visit had gone off so smoothly when the usual host, Hogwarts, so often failed. Aulis had begun to think of himself as a sort of international ambassador, inflating his already overly bloated ego to a tipping point; the ideas that spilled through the sieve of his mind now were growing larger and larger by the day. And where better to start than in the acquisition of better textbooks and tomes for his scholars?
Koldovstoretz's library yurt, well... it left something to be desired, at the very least. There were the standard scrolls and books in Russian and English, as well as a few in smatterings of other languages, but the yurt itself paled in comparison size-wise as well as in depth of knowledge to Hogwarts' grand bibliotheca. Naturally, the on-campus shoppe Korzina dlya Per'yev - the Basket of Quills - helped to supplement Koldovstoretz's library, and even boasted a small restricted section where elder students could study darker spells and potions if granted express permission by Aulis himself, but the Director knew that it was still not enough. Not when the Basket and the library yurt could both fit easily within the open space on the library's first floor, with room to spare plus the second level towering above. His students were currently grossly underfunded in the literary sense, and with his newly self-imposed status as one of the more important international headmasters, the faux Seer was determined to change that.
He did not know who the librarian was at Hogwarts, had only stepped foot into its towering stacks once (during the previous fall's visit, which had sparked this idea in the first place), but Aulis was sure he could figure it out quite easily. His observant mind and keen eyes were excellent at sussing out such things, after all. At the entrance doors, the Director of Koldovstoretz took a final deep breath - Calm yourself, Aulya - before pushing open the grand oak barrier and stepping inside. His eyes landed immediately on the sheltered desk that he presumed to be the home of the library's docent and keeper, and he swanned over with a dramatic flick of the red silken scarf tied about his slender neck, his polished burgundy leather shoes softly shushing against the floor. To the blonde sitting there, her face blocked from his view at the moment he approached, he did his best to whisper in a grandiose manner whilst still respecting the volume levels that were expected in any place of learning such as this. "You are exactly who I look for, Madame Librarian. Let me introduce, and we can discuss how we help each other. I-" Then his pale blue eyes alighted upon the slope of her nose, dark eyebrows and cupid's bow lip, and Aulis tried to keep his mouth from dropping open - but years of training could not hide the way his voice ticked upwards in volume, switching into his native language in an attempt to hide his surprise. "I knew it would be you, of course, Helenka. Do not tell me you have forgotten me so soon that I must introduce myself all over again, yeah?" A grin flashed across his face.
He had not seen Helen Doukas in years, but she was just as beautiful as ever; snippets of tea in the Divination classroom and stargazing out on Lake Bear glimmered through Aulis's mind, not in Sight, but in memory. Only a year she had taught at Koldovstoretz, but they had become close fast during it - the school's resident hot blondes, after all, could not have been anything but good friends. And now, she was here. The librarian of Hogwarts, apparently. This would make suggesting his inter-library loan system much, much easier.

Much like Aulis himself, Helen was clearly not expecting to see the particular blond sight before her. Her mouth dropped into a pleasant O, accompanied by a similar sound of surprise; of course, the part-Veela woman was not pretending to be a Seer, so she was allowed to be shocked, whereas the Director of Studies at Koldovstoretz needed to keep up certain... appearances. Luckily, she also quickly mirrored the excited smile on Aulis's face, and the light-haired man was filled with a rush of relief that his friend also remembered him so fondly; there had certainly been plenty of experiences in the past in which Aulis had left a friendship with happy memories, only to later discover that negative thoughts had festered on the part of the other party. Helen joked about his calling her madame, and asked him what had brought her to Hogwarts.
Clearly, the news had not reached her about his promotion, despite it having occurred well over a year ago.
"Would it surprise you to know that the board has finally seen reason and given me the top spot?" he joked, adopting a similarly silly tone that felt so natural on his lilting, dramatic words of Russian; he had very rarely felt as though he was able to be so goofy with others, but he and the Hogwarts librarian had always shared a certain luster, an outlook on life, that made them so well-suited to be friends, even long before either one of them had held their current jobs. He stayed in his native language, more comfortable there than in English, partially out of fluency and partially because he knew that their conversation would be less easily overheard if it were in a foreign tongue to most of the grey-clad students currently in their vicinity. "It has been more than a year now, actually. I always did think Director Vorozheykin held such a lovely ring, don't you agree?"
With his signature drama, Aulis put a hand on the corner of the desk and swanned about it until he had reached the other side, leaning down to wrap one arm around the seated woman's shoulders. "Ah, but enough about me, Helenka. I had visions of you surrounded by books, and now, here you are. Tell me of how you came to be a librarian, of all things - had I known you wanted this life of shelving and dusting and sorting, I would have fought to hire you at Koldovstoretz!" He silently added: and afterwards, I will use our connection to convince you to lend us some books.
